  1. Budget (including currency): 250€ ± 10% Country: Austria Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming, music production Current System: Intel i5 6600k 16GB DDR4 RAM NVidia Geforce GTX 1070 1080p 144Hz Display Since upgrading to Counter Strike 2, my PC is not able to put out 144Hz anymore. I'm pretty sure I'm bottlenecked by my CPU hence I want to upgrade it. I also do music production and some light CAD work. I would like to sell the current CPU, cooler, RAM and motherboard as 1 combo because I think I will get more money this way (Is this actually true?). I upgraded my laptop to a AMD Ryzen 5 7640U a few months back and would love to also try AMDs desktop offerings, but if an Intel product would be much better I'm also open to that. I would like to have 1 16GB stick of RAM with the option of adding another one in the future. The only real requirement I have for the motherboard is a USB-C port for my Meta Quest 2. Cheers and thanks for any advice in advance!
  2. Building a LAN PC, Can't decide between mobos. I got 2 x DDR5 16G 6800MHz, 14400f cpu, jonsbo cr-1000 cpu cooler, 5700xt, 700w kolink core psu. If these are not that great recommend me one under 150euros. ASRock B760M-HDV/M.2, mATX-emolevy - Jimms.fi Gigabyte B760M GAMING, mATX-emolevy - Jimms.fi
  3. Hello world! I recently listed a Gigabyte GA-H77N motherboard for sale on ebay and was shocked to see others selling it for above what it originally marketed for (originally sold for $100 and people are selling them for $130-$600 depending on condition). Does anyone know why these motherboards are so coveted? I am worried of selling it to someone with nefarious purposes or something heh.
  4. Hi all, Edit: the issue seems to be more fundamental. I can get into BIOS, and I opened hardware monitor to look at my CPU temps and after being there for a while I wanted to close it and my BIOS froze. Rest of the story provides context on how I got to this situation... I'm slightly panicking here. I had a good working setup with just Windows 11 (pro) installed (upgraded from Windows 10 pro) on my newly build machine (tech specs will follow). I installed Ubuntu as dual boot in a separate partition on the same SSD as my windows is located. It booted into MOK (I had secure boot set up) but I had issues with that so I passed it. It booted fine a couple of times when so I performed the necessary updates but after that it the problems started. I reboot into ubuntu and at the login screen it works fine, but trying to login in or open a different tty (ctrl+alt+f2 e.g.) it froze again (not getting into the desktop at all when logging in or not even reaching the tty). I tried rebooting into windows and I'm getting a different BSOD every time. Trying to boot into Windows recovery mode works, but when opening CMD I'm getting different BSODs as well. Couple I've had were: - IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL in ntoskrnl.exe - MEMORY_MANAGEMENT when trying to run DISM in cmd in recovery And a couple more but didn't have time to take a picture because my pc rebooted immediately. I tried swapping the boot order back hoping that was the cause, but then my BIOS froze... I don't understand how to get the dump files in this situation since booting from my Windows 10 install USB is freezing as well on the windows logo. My BIOS is on E7E26AMS.150 (just the version with which it shipped) and I see on the MSI page that there is a BIOS update available. But honestly, with my BIOS freezing I'm really afraid to start flashing a new version on it... what If it happens during the update? OS - Windows 11 + Ubuntu 22.04 dual boot x86 (32-bit) (i think I'm sorry I'm not sure) What OS was originaly installed on the system? Windows 11 pro retail Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from a retailer)? purchased from retailer Age of system (hardware) less than a month Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? less than a month CPU model AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Boxed Video Card model ASRock AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT Phantom Gaming 20GB OC MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop) B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI (MS-7E26) Power Supply - brand & wattage (if laptop, skip this) Seasonic Focus GX-750 System Manufacturer what? Laptop or Desktop? Desktop Is there anyone able to help me? Things I tried: tried going into Ubuntu advanced, pick the older version in recovery but after browsing in the settings for a while it crashes and spews out this enormous log (see attached picture). tried booting into my Ubuntu boot USB but that freezes at boot logo tried booting into my Windows 10 pro USB but that freezes at boot logo
  5. Please read the entire post. About a year ago I've built a system with the following parts: - Intel Core i5-11400 CPU; - MSI B560M-A PRO mobo; - 24GB Crucial 2400MHz RAM, later maxed out to 64GB DDR4 2666MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM (this is important); - 500GB Kingston Fury Renegade M.2 PCIe Gen4x4 SSD; - AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card; - Corsair CS850M 850W Semi-Modular 850W 80 Plus Gold PSU (reused from my previous setup). Since the beginning I have noticed the motherboard behaved strangely, even when brand new, during the first few days of use, it would plain refuse to POST... This would fix itself with reseating everything... If I enabled the ERP ready power feature in the UEFI, the computer would take 3 to 5 seconds to power on after I pressed the power button, sometimes it would take longer. So I never enabled that option again. But the weirdest behavior started after I swapped the 24GB RAM for the Vengeance LPX 64GB kit. At first the motherboard only recognized one stick, had to switch them around to get the 64GB accessible. Everything then was fine, even the XMP profile got enabled automatically. But I noticed the mobo would take longer than usual to POST with the new RAM. Nothing major happened until last month... when I shut the display down and went to do something else...later I came back, GPU fans were on full blast and there was no video output to the monitor. I hard restarted the PC... the motherboard for some reason reset the RAM frequency from the rated 2666MHz to just 2133MHz. I then tried enabling XMP again twice, on both attempts the mobo reset the speed back to 2133MHz and gave me a textual warning that the RAM overclock was not stable. (This was, in fact , the first sign something was seriously wrong). But by the 3rd time it worked fine. I also noticed that sometimes on Linux, after a reboot, there would be no display output. Pressing Ctrl Alt Del always fixed it. There were no new major problems or crashes until the night of March 8. After running absolutely fine for the entirety of the day, while I was watching a YT video, the browser tab with the video literally crashed. "Gah. Your tab just crashed." -- At this point, the machine was minutes away from going to PC Heaven -- I didn't know that, and just shrugged the error away as a bug. Though I was still a bit worried because this was my first time seeing that message. 5 minutes later... the entire OS froze, a very loud static noise was heard on the speakers, and the audio from the video started repeating over and over like a broken record. The PC was completely unresponsive, I force restarted it as usual... but this time, it no longer came back. No POST, no USB, no nothing. The mobo will now get stuck on a boot loop alternating for 3 times between the red CPU debug LED and the orange DRAM one. Until it gives up trying to start and stops with the solid orange DRAM LED. My effectively brand new general use and workstation PC is now dead after a little more than 1 year. Is it financially viable to try and fix it or I might as well use the opportunity to upgrade to a newer platform (AM5 or LGA 1700 with DDR5) and also a brand spanking new higher quality PSU? I might even consider jumping to a prebuilt system like the Dell XPS 8960 or the Precision 3660 as I love Dell's reliability and quality.
  6. I have the Strix X470-F and recently stumbled upon the Fan Control software from Rem0o which seems highly reccomended. Can anyone using this can help out or point me to a guide on the correct system configuration outside the Fan Control app itself? For example a guide on what to set in the BIOS. It successfully detects all my PWM fans but there is a problem... it appears to be struggling to apply the intended speeds. If I set a fan to manual control and 100%, it will step up 8% every ~5 seconds instead of every 1 second. I do not have any other software in Windows that controls fan speed. I have already set all fans to run at a flat 40% in the BIOS so that the firmware will not try to override the fan speeds when CPU temperature changes.

  8. Greetings, It has been six years since I last upgraded my PC, and I'm now seeking guidance as I'm somewhat out of touch. I'm looking to make my system more efficient in terms of cost while maximizing performance. I currently have a GTX 1660 Super GPU and plan to upgrade to a GTX 3060 Ti. For the CPU and motherboard, I'm seeking recommendations that are compatible with the GTX 3060 Ti and will minimize potential bottlenecking. You can throw in a new Casing too some budget remain unutilized. If you require information on component prices in my region, please refer to the following websites: https://www.startech.com.bd/ https://www.ryanscomputers.com/ https://onestop.net.bd/ Kindly note that this isn't intended as advertising, but rather for context. 9. I swapped my components put recently and after getting them working I have noticed a very annoying high pitched buzzing noise coming from the top left side of my motherboard. I had 2 different boards and they are both making this noise and i was wondering if its okay or what i can do. The noise gets pretty loud when putting more stress on the cpu and its kind of driving me nuts as im right next to my pc. Anyone know if this is okay or if I should/can do anything about it? 10. So I just transferred my PC components to a new case and with a new aio liquid cooler. (Yay!) It's got RGB fans and everything, but there's one thing that still sticks out to me. There's this breathing orange light on my asus prime z270-p motherboard. It's been like this for years in my old case, but I was wondering what it signifies and how I can turn it off. I checked my motherboard manual and can't find anything that mentions it. One thing to note is that it stays breathing when the PC is off and only shuts down when either unplugged from the wall or the power switch is flipped on the power supply.
  11. Hey All! IDK if this is the place to post this, but I would love some guidance on how I should proceed in getting a MOBO replacement. TL;DR - My Asus Tuf Gaming X570 PRO-Wifi has died yesterday and my warrenty expired back in October 2023. After reaching out to Asus, I have determine that my choices are to either send it in for repair (which they said could cost anywhere from $75-$200 depending on the hardware issue) or purchase a replacement (either new or used). I would Like some advice on If I should send my board in for repairs, or just say "screw it" and buy a different one. My current system core components are: AMD Ryzen 9 5900x Radeon RX 6900xt 64gb (2x32gb) of Crucial Ballistix 3600mhz cl16 RAM Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD (OS) Crucial P5 plus 4TB (games and projects) Corsair RMx1000 PSU The key features I want/need on my MOBO are: 2.5g Lan Onboard Wifi 6 or higher + bluetooth two M.2 slots (at least one being PCIe 4.0) USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C Front panel connector So far I have narrowed down my choices to the following MOBO under $200: New Boards w/ 3 Yr Warranties: Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 ($140) MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI ($160) Used Boards w/o Warranties: MSI MAG X570S Tomahawk Max WIFI ($175) ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II ($200) I am leaning towards buying the Gigabyte board, as it does like 80% of what my old board did, comes with a new warranty, and it seems like the best bang for the buck. However, I am not opposed to sending my board for repair. I have a laptop and an Xbox Series X, so I'm not deviceless on the computing and gaming front, but I dont know if its worth it to potential spend the same amount of money to repair it as it would cost to just by a replacement. As for used options, I am hesitant. While they are high end MOBO's, and newer than my current one, I have heard a lot of horror stories in regards to used boards, and I don't necessarily what to be in a similar situation in a year or so (at that point, it might make more sense to just upgrade to the AM5 platform). So, what do you guys think I should do, should I go new, used, or repaired? I am also open to different options/perspectives if you have them! I dont REALLY want to change platforms rn, but if you have differnet MOBO suggestion, I am all ears!
  12. hello, i am trying to flash my motherboard with the latest bios version using gigabyte q-flash. i installed every component of the pc, but the dram debug light was on. i tried every solution to that and found that a possible solution was to flash the bios. so i try to flash the bios, after clearing cmos using the jumpers and removing the battery. i also removed all components and re plugged motherboard and cpu power. after pressing the q-flash button, the cpu debug light turns on for around 1 second and then turns off. the motherboard manual says that a light will flash and should take around 6 minutes to flash. please help, thank you
  13. So I've been on the fence about two motherboards from MSI, the MSI MAG z790 Tomahawk Wifi and the MSI Pro z790-a Wifi (priced the same where I can buy them) This is for a modded build with a specific theme and the motherboard needs to be white or close to white (aka I would have to mod the Tomahawk with a paint job) From what I've seen the Tomahawk will have more Io ports while the Pro will have certain newer things like wifi 7 and some of the ports are faster although fewer Although this is a showcase build I wanna make the best bang for the buck choices so my question is which one would I be better off with considering what they both offer and that one of them would require more work to make it fit in with everything

When I switch the DIMM to slots 1 and 3, XMP takes quite a while to Boot and post. I’ve tried contacting ASUS themselves I haven’t heard anything back yet. 16. As title states, I have a machine running Ubuntu Desktop (for now) that successfully booted. I tried to configure a 2 hardware RAID 1 arrays on 4 of the non-boot HDDs, and after applying the config in BIOS, I'm hanging on the BIOS logo screen for 20 mins with no change. This is the second time this has happened; previously this resulted in a total motherboard bricking. CPU: AMD 5600G; using the integrated graphics MB: MSI Pro B550-VC AM4 ATX Boot SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB HDDs: 2x 1TB WD Blue drives, 2x 4TB WD Red Drives (connected via Sata, all showed up in the BIOS) OS: Ubuntu Desktop (just to test the config; likely moving to debian) BIOS config: enabled RAID mode, restarted, cleared the drives, applied 2 RAID 1 arrays. This has me completely stumped. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you

PC Specs: Corsair Vengeance a4100 Gaming PC Motherboard (MB) - Asus Prime B450 Plus Current CPU - Ryzen 7 3700x What i'm trying to upgrade too - Ryzen 7 5800x3D (NOTE: When i do go through the whole process of updating the bios through USB, i get hit with "Selected file is Not a proper BIOS", yet i get the most recent BIOS from Asus's support page) I'm trying to get any help i can before i have to take it up to a PC place to have them do it for me. So any help is welcome willing to give it a shot. Thank you very much!
  18. Good day LTT, I have an issue with the home server I am trying to DIY. The original motherboard for this build (which had successfully booted into Ubuntu) got bricked; not sure how. I swapped the entire build over to a new motherboard (MSI PRO PRO B550-VC AM4 AMD B550). I was able to get into BIOS, see all my hardware, but when I try to boot, I am stuck on the MSI Pro Series splash screen. I have the Ubuntu Boot USB plugged in ready to reinstall the OS, but no action is being taken. I can get into BIOS, the boot priority is set properly, and I disabled XMP as a test. No lights are on in the diagnostic LEDs. Any idea what else I can try? The rest of the build is an AMD Ryzen 5600G (using integrated graphics), 32GB of Corsair DDR4, a Samsung M.2 970 Evo that the old OS was installed on, and 4 HDDs (2 WD 1TB blue drives and 2 WD 4TB red drives)
  19. Hello. So I'm adding new case for my PC my first gaming case something standard simple regular. Well I was stalling my fans which were very weird they had the power connector and then they had like a two pin thing that didn't connect with anything in my motherboard. The problem came when I was stalling my master cooler liquid cooling system not 240 mm radiator. I finished connecting everything turned on the PC without making my cable management noticed that I didn't place the fans the correct way so I had to make changes, disconnect everything and put everything back in and took me the whole day because after I connect everything back it wasn't turning on the screen or turning on properly. I believe I burnt everything because The Cooler Master AI old I purchased brings a little controller which I connect everything as the tutorials in YouTube but didn't change the left the LEDs for some reason. So my dumb head thought okay my motherboard has a LED header so I assume the Le header that is on the controller must be compatible with the one in my motherboard so I connected and all the sudden it smelled burnt. I tried to connect the motherboard again I try with another CPU I tried the same CPU with another motherboard vice versa I managed to have it turned on with my old motherboard and then when I try to build everything again with my old motherboard it didn't work anyways I'm not sure if it has to do with the power supply or anything because I tried my old motherboard with the same ram same graphics card same everything and it did work and then it didn't Motherboard: Tuf z390 plus wifi Ram: 16gb Powe supply: 500w GPU: rx570 Pls help. Things i tried. -Reset bios by Removing the CMOS battery -Clear CMOS jumper -Used a different RAM -Unplug and plugged everything over and over. -Tried without GPU since my cpu have intergrade graphics
  20. I have my OS installed on a nvme m.2 , which was installed on the first slot of my mainboard z390 . After unplugging my PSU cable then plugging it back , i no longer can boot into Windows. Then while in Bios, i suddenly realized that my PC can't detect my nvme drives or other drives that I have ( HDD, SSD SATA ) However when I moved my m.2 nvme to the 2nd PCIE gen 3 x 4 slot, my PC suddenly recognized it , I can boot into Windows, other drives can be detected too . I tried installing my nvme back into the 1st slot but it's not detected as before. Can anyone help me determine this issue. Could it be that unplugging PSU cable damaged my m.2 slot somehow ? I have made sure to turn off the i/o switch on the PSU before unplugging . Windows 11 pro 23h2 all updated. 21. Afternoon folks, I’m having some issues with my ~6 year old pc. I was performing a fresh install of Ubuntu, which this pc has handled before fine with all the same hardware as what’s in it now, but this time I was having trouble installing, with errors making reference to PCIe. Initially I tried removing all the ram, as I’ve had problems with faulty sticks before with this pc, but after testing different combinations, no progress was made. Then I took out my wifi card, and then the install went fine. Went to reinstall it after the os was installed, but the status led never lit up. Tried in different PCIe slots, no change. Went to local hardware shop and bought another cheap wifi card, assuming that my old one had just failed on me, but after installing that, no status light on that either, and not showing up on the os. Reset the CMOS, no change either. Also have unplugged and replugged all motherboard power connectors to the psu. Any other troubleshooting steps I could take? note: one thing I tried was changing the hdmi cable from my gpu to the motherboard to use the integrated graphics on my cpu. System wouldn’t post after this, gave 5 beeps from the pc speaker… this has worked before. Moved back to the gpu and it posts fine. mobo is Gigabyte Z370P-D3, if that helps
  22. Budget (including currency): 420-ish EUR ex. OS licence Country: Netherlands Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Basic workstation (email, browsing, text processing). Little to no storage used (30GB or so for personal files) Other details The current system is an HP Slimline 260-A180ND (Intel J3060, 4GB, HDD) with W10, bought new for 330 EUR about 6 years ago (a scam IMO). Dear reader, TL;DR: I would like advice on the motherboard choice and opinions on the case(s), optional are verification of SSD for boot and PSU choice. Currently picking parts for a workstation build, for a senior (90+). The current PC is not usable anymore in terms of responsiveness and loading times. A clean install did not help. I have researched and selected medium to good low-budget parts to the best of my abilities, especially on the PSU and SSD front. I have offered to find a prebuilt or build this person a new system. I have looked at prebuilts / manufacturer systems such as Lenovo IdeaCentre 3 07IAB7 i5-12400, HP Pavilion TP01-2055nd AMD Ryzen 5-5600G and Lenovo IdeaCentre 5 i5-12400, all between 500 and 550 EUR. They're probably not bad, but I can't do any servicing other than the RAM, if there ever is a problem (see disassembly videos). I am the person they call for tech support. Plus, I'd rather assemble a system with parts I know are of somewhat decent quality, as well as industry standard interfaces and form factors. I don't want to risk the lower tier systems (300-400 EUR). I keep some future-proofing in mind (larger/better than necessary PSU, SSD, CPU) for both ease of mind reasons, as well as the fact that I might buy/recieve this system in a few years if they don't need/can't use a PC anymore. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LGHWwg Current selection (give or take a few EUR per item): CPU: AMD 5600G (130 EUR) CPU Cooler: stock (wraith stealth) Motherboard: A520M or B450, no model selected yet (65-ish EUR) Memory: Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3200 C16 CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 (45 EUR) Storage: Crucial P5 Plus 500GB NVMe (58 EUR), or anything with DRAM and pref. no QLC Video Card: iGPU Case: Sharkoon VS9 (45 EUR) Power Supply: pref. Corsair CX550 CP-9020277-EU (60 EUR); alt: Cooler Master MWE White 450/550W 230V V2 (60EUR, same price) (yes it's overkill, but not many >C tier 350W and 450W available + no massive price difference) OS: Most likely W10 to avoid change of environment, probably without license to save 110-ish EUR. Connectivity: USB mouse, USB keyboard, USB printer. Extra I/O on top is desired (for USB sticks etc.). CD drive not needed, but optional. Panel is VGA now, but supports DVI and HDMI. Total: 400-ish EUR 1. Motherboard: mainly picked A520M for the price, as the user needs no real features of B450/550. I can't really find any in-depth reviews or comparison tests for the A520M boards. Some B450M boards are around the same price, but I've read that you may be better off with the A520M in terms of up-to-dateness and quality (low end B450 vs low-mid A520M for that price range). Selection: MSI A520M-A PRO (63 EUR) Gigabyte A520M H 1.0 and Gigabyte A520M K V2 (65 EUR) Asrock A520M-HDV (60 EUR) MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX (67 EUR) (4 DIMM slots) (new BIOS compatible with 5600G) Asrock B450M-HDV R4.0 (60 EUR) (new BIOS compatible with 5600G) 2. Storage: I've searched for a TLC SSD with DRAM, as it will be the boot and only drive in the system. Any other suggestions, or is this one OK for the system's purposes? 3. Cases: Not many options. I selected the following, but chose the Sharkoon for now for its fans, neutral styling, ventinaltion, no glass and I/O location. Aerocool Hexform Mini Tower Micro ATX (for the extra fans and open ventilation style), was 50 EUR but jumped up to 70 EUR. Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L (least desirable, I/O on the side) DeepCool MATREXX 30 Mini Tower Micro ATX (only 1 fan, but CD bay) Sharkoon VS9 (for extra fans and no glass, a big plus; downside is its quite large) Would love to hear your input on the motherboard choice, verification of PSU and SSD for boot and opinions on the case(s). Thank you in advance. Kind regards, JB
  23. So I've when I built this PC it worked for an entire year without any issues: i7-10700k 2x16GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 MSI Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi RTX 2060 One day the RAM suddenly broke, both sticks. Randomly had bluescreens, pc crashed, memtest86 failed (individually for each stick too), etc.. I tried my broken RAM sticks in my friends pc and he instantly had bluescreens, crashes and all the issues too. I tried his RAM in my PC and it worked fine. He has 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX LP DDR4-3200. So i refunded the RAM and got brandnew 32GB Trident Z's. They instantly broke again. Same testing as before, doesnt work in friends pc either once again. I figured it has to be a mainboard issue then, so i replaced my MSI Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi with a MSI Z590 Gaming Edge Wifi. I refunded the RAM once again, got new ones and they broke once again. Now i replaced the PSU from a 600 Watt beQuiet with a 850 Watt beQuiet, refunded the RAM once again and it broke again. Im bought the same RAM my friend has for now, since they seem to work in my PC for whatever reason. I have no clue what could be the issue at this point but i want to have 32 GB of RAM back. Do you think I can get 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance without them breaking? I hope someone can help me.
  24. Hi all, After 2 years of non problematic running of my build i decided update my BIOS on my Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 motherboard. I went straight from F32 to F38h. (I know, I know. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it but here we are.) Initially I went through the bios to do this update and as soon as I restarted all fans ramped up, no display and no power to any of my USB devices. After this setback I tried to use the Q-flash to see if that was the error and unfortunately same outcome, all fans ramping up and no outputs at all. I have tried every BIOS from F32-F38h through Q-flash and no luck, just sometimes the fans don’t ramp up (specially on F32 & F35). Anyone have any ideas on the fix for this and many thanks in advance! Setup: CPU - AMD Ryzen 5600X GPU - EVGA 2080ti Black edition RAM - 16GB (2x8GB) 3600mhz DDR4 MOBO - Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570
  25. Hi, im building a new pc only for gaming and the motherboard that i buy came with an extra 6-pin connector labelled " pd_12v_pwr " , is right on the side of the big 24-pin connector. According to the manual it says that provides additional power to the front panel but also to the PCIe x16 slots the build: cpu : 7800x3d mother: Asus ProArt B650-CREATOR User’s Manual ram: 64gb 2x32 6400 mhz gpu: single Rtx 3090 Asus rog psu: Seasonic 1000w gold (SSR-1000FX) https://seasonic.com/focus-plus-gold#specification ssd: 2tb m2 nvme gen4 ¿Can it be left unplugged or is there any risk to damage something like the gpu?
