Hi everyone, i plan on buying at "New Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming" (This family of laptops) (The link is for the canadian website i'm canadian) I want to use it for a bit of everything. I have my dedicated gaming/everything else tower at home so no need of insane graphics. Just something to be able to play games at medium/high/ultra when i'm on the road or everywhere else. (I'm also using the train really often so i want to take advantage of that time to work on my projects or play.) For all the research i have done in the past months this laptop is the one i need. I waited for them to refresh it at CES with the 1050ti and they did. So now it's time for me to buy it! (If you have suggestions don't hesitate but after so much time searching into this one i must admit i'm pretty sold for it ) But i have one last question. Should i choose a 4K IPS screen. Or a 1080p TN screen. (no IPS 1080p choice available sadly) Also, I know 4k is taking more battery. But i'm asking myself. If i take a 4K Screen and i change windows settings to run it at 1080p will i see somewhat of an increase in battery life or we are talking of such a slim difference it's not worth it? So Question 1 : Should i take a 4K IPS panel or a 1080p TN panel? and Questons 2 : If i run a 4k screen a 1080p will i save battery? (Not in gaming but in general tasks) P.S. (I know i won't game at 4k with this computer. But for movies, video editing and general productivity 4k could also be a nice bonus because i don't plan on changing this computer for a really long time.) Thank you all in advance for your help and time!

Introduction of Speed Shift v2. CPU reaches peak performance 10-15 milliseconds vs 30 milliseconds on Skylake Intel updates OPI 2.0 to OPI 3.0 Current Skylake NUC M.2 runs at x4 Gen 2, even though it supports x4 Gen 3 It's limited to that for stability reasons A bios updated has been released to fix that, but only limited to just a specific PC Vendor Rest of NUC builders are on their own Kaby Lake will run M.2 at x4 Gen 3, except for Core i3 7100U Y will get 10 gen 3 lanes and U will get 12 gen 3 lanes http://www.anandtech.com/show/10959/intel-launches-7th-generation-kaby-lake-i7-7700k-i5-7600k-i3-7350k

Hello everyone, I'm in need of more storage for my PC, but I don't have any SSD/HDD slots free anymore as I've used them all. What would be the best way to expand my storage? I'm thinking about getting an USB 3.0 or type C HDD dock (my mobo has an usc-c gen 2 port) or an external USB HDD. Also, I would use the storage mostly for games, pictures, and video files thank you

Well, Hello everyone. This is my first post and i hope that I am posting on the right section. So, i recently found out about Aster ibik (https://www.ibik.ru/) which is like running 2 or more computers side by side from one cpu but without virtualization. And I was wondering if anyone knows it's performance compared to UnRAID. Yeah I know that UnRAID can do many other things too, but let's focus on performance on that post. Thanks for your answers in advance! :)

So I bought the Surface Go 64GB version with 4GB of RAM. Now I Realize that was a mistake even thought I thought I could get away with 4GB cause of the video Linus made about RAM usage and how 4GB is enough for web browsing and 8GB is good all round with 16GB being near overkill but better for gaming and content creation. I have the tools to remove the current RAM chip in the Surface Go and solder an 8GB or even 16GB chip. My question is do I need to flash the chip or Surface Go at all or will it automatically recognize the RAM and work. Any help is appreciated.

Currently I am using a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB as my main storage drive. However I need a bit more storage... So I was thinking should I just buy another one, but I was not sure if this would make it slower or more complicated to use... Could I still just store my data like I used to or would I have to get it from different drive (similar to what it would be if I plug in a USB). My other question was should I maybe get a M.2 drive and copy my files to the M.2 (by cloning it) and use it as my main drive and the SATA SSD as my secondary? What would you consider a good option to get? It should be below 200$. Additional Info: I dont transfer large amounts of data and I do not need insaaaanely fast speeds. Thanks for your help PS: From time to time a do get a notification that my storage in drive D: is full (My storage device D: has 449MB and belongs to my 850EVO, so I thought it might be the cache of my SSD) How should I get more storage without harming any data and would the issue be solved if I get a second SSD?)

I am building my first custom pc for myself, i have built desktops and even replaced and rebuilt a server for other people but finally I am building my own rig and I wanted a challenge so i decided to go for as much power as possible for as little price as possible (£500). So a normal low end PC build isn't going to cut it, I design video games so i need to run GPU and CPU intensive programs like 3DS Max, Maya, Cryengine, ect, ect,so i need a powerful pc for a very low cost. My first though was go down the AMD route however i am not a fan of AMD and when it comes to rendering AMD will struggle a lot so then i thought well Intel processors are expensive but how about a out of date one and see if i can use more then when and that is when the idea of a server pc came to mind. Two X5560's, EEC ram and a gtx 960 but I have nothing set in stone yet and i would love for suggestions or components< mainly a motherboard that isn't £400 or weather I should just stick to a desktop pc. Please let me know

Well Samsung and Apple are at it again, this latest fiasco is over the newly released Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Apple is stating that 3 of its patents have been violated and it is looking to stop the future sale of Samsung’s newest phones in the North American market. The first violation has to do with the antenna band placement location on the phones, Apple made the patent claim when they released the iPhone 4s, which the new Galaxy phones share the glass back design with. Also Apple is claiming that Samsung purposely copied their design language with the new phones, stating that the button layout and design look was stolen from the iPhone 6. This isn't the first time Samsung has been in legal troubles with Apple, though this is the most aggressive patent lawsuit Samsung has faced by Apple. Apple won the last series of suits against Samsung, this time it looks like that will happen again as Samsung honestly doesn't have much of a leg to stand on. Around this time last year Apple filed suit against Razer for the design language of their Blade 2014 laptop, the case was settled outside of court and details of the final settlement are fuzzy. Apple has been known to be very aggressive in its legal action towards smaller companies. We shall wait and see what the outcome is. Source Thoughts? Comments?

Looks like the WP 10 preview is gaining more devices, and not just one or two; a LOT more. This is great for users who have older devices and more lower end devices, MS is really pushing the notion that WP10 is going to show up on as many devices as can be expected. I'm excited to give this a go when it comes out later for my 920, I've always liked WP devices for how well they run in almost every scenario, even ones packing half the RAM and clock speeds of the conventional devices from anyone else. http://www.windowscentral.com/next-windows-10-phones-build-will-expand-massive-number-devices?utm_source=related&utm_medium=module&utm_campaign=next

I am building a new pc and was wondering if its worth getting the higher mhz ram. I was originally going with 1600 mhz but then thought as my motherboard can take up to 3300 mhz why not go with a higher hertz. What do you think?

I was just talking to my dad about my choice to go for an R9 290 over R9 270 Crossfire once I get it back from RMA, and the VRAM problem came up. The R9 290 choice is far more appealing because of its 4 GB frame buffer, because I am concerned that 2 GB will not be sufficient for much longer at 1080p if I want to have ultra or even high settings. And that led into a discussion of whether it is possible or even appealing to be able to insert more VRAM into the graphics board by having sockets for the user to solder in, or however, if the amount of VRAM is not sufficient. What I want to know is if there is some technical reason why this can't be done, or if it is simply unappealing for the manufacturers of the boards to do so due to costs and whatnot. Also, if it is possible and financially feasible to do so, would the users of this forum and PC gamers in general be willing to do this if necessary or otherwise? I know I would, because I feel comfortable with my dad teaching me how to do it properly, since he's really knowledgeable in this kind of stuff. What do you guys think?

Hi, I am starting a computer build and was wondering-*for rendering, editing etc* Is it better to have more cores with lower frequency or the latter? I understand I could buy more cores and overclock it to get it to the frequency I want, but what would be more beneficial? Working with video by the way. Chris EDIT: I was thinking about going with i7 4790k.

Hey all, Just wondering how easy is it to replace RAM in my PC, i built my pc so I know my way around the system etc. My question is how difficult is it for the motherboard to detect and utilize it. Do i need to change anything in the bios, download any software?? Will it balls up any of my stuff? Is it easy?

System: I have thought about upgrading to SLI x2 970's. Will i be able to run it with this setup with the PSU i curently own? I will keep cpu at 4,6 and Ram at 1866.

This is a stupid question that I'm fairly certain I'm able to do. So I have 8gb of memory in my system right now and I want to add another 8gb so that I have 16gb all together. To do this, do I have to buy the same memory that I already have in the system? And when I do install it, do I have to reset anything on the mobo in order to get no errors. Again, it's a pretty stupid question that I think I am able to do - but just checking as I don't want to be too confident and waste my money. -Thanks!

Hi guys I hve been surfing on the internet and I found that the answer to this question is not clear and I would like to know it. ex. Is a Intel XEON or i7 47xxx better for rendering animations and 3d modelling (I know tat for this purpose an nvidia quadro is helpful but lets choose a more common videocard eg. gtx760) ...and the same for ingame rendering (it seems that in games a faster quad core is better) ...and also are the intel extreme edition pocessors any good as "sweetspot" or "middleground" eg. i7 5960x or i7 5820k

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdKd_z2_ymQ Can anyone confirm? I do have my Windows 7 disk as I legitimately bought one when it came out, this apparently removes ALL metro (charms, EVERYTHING) and bring back the COMPLETELY ORIGINAL start menu/button on Windows 7. Too good to be true?

It seems we have gone from posting nothing but the link to posting the link, one sentence that is basically the title, and a quote from the source. Post your opinions and your take from the post. Tell people how it works in your own words and your take on the topic good or bad. Otherwise you are adding nothing to the discussion and just posting links to other websites. For some reason this is bothering me and i'm hoping people stop this.

Hello, I bought a new pair of cans about a month ago, the audio technica a900x's, and theyre pretty awesome. Im really into the bass, but, i can only get the bass on my phone. My Galaxy s4 is driving good amounts of bass into these, but, my computer is not. Im using the onboard audio on my gigabyte 900fxa ud3 (rev 4), but i also have the schiit modi dac. Ive been looking around on the internet and i think i might be needing an amplifier for more sound and clarity. Is this what i truly need? And if so, what are some of your recommendations? keep in mind, i really enjoy hearing clear bass. Thank you, Sam
