  1. Hey guys, As GTA 5 is on sale now, I am thinking about picking it up (played it a lot on Xbox 360 years ago, but I feel like I need this game in my library) There is only one thing, as title suggest: modding OpenIV has closed down AFAIK, and I have used that tool for very long time, and I do not know if that is any other tool to insert mods into the game (like cars, textures, driving mods ect.) Are there any tools that can access GTA packed files for modding?
  2. Hi, I have a generation type 2 white Corsair cable kit (including the 24pin set) for my AX 860 and I'm really confused with the wire opening size. I have a vendor offering an option between 2.5 (2.65mm) and 2.85mm sizes. Which one should I go for ? The only option for Cable Combs I have is from a brand named Munky Mods - Pro Flex series. http://geb.ebay.in/ImportHubViewItem?itemid=162229271605 I am from Mumbai (Bombay), India and this seems like the only option I have and importing it through eBay (India). It is mentioned on the web link that 2.5mm will fit Corsair PSU's but I checked another site and they were recommending the biggest size for the Gen 2 Type Cable Kit. So here I am confused AF! HELP!
  3. I have a very important question to ask about the core v21 layout. Is it possible to flip the case upside Down and place the case feet on the opposite side? And if that is possible can the motherboard tray be remounted so that it still maintains its position above the PSU? The reason for this is that the case will be on my left and I want the front IO to be facing me without having the case turned.
  4. So earlier this week Grand Theft Auto V's publisher Take Two issued a cease and desist letter to the biggest offline single-player modding menu known as OpenIV. article from OpenIV: http://openiv.com/?p=1324 Stating that modding a game is "illegal" and the company can be sued, that caused a huge backlash in the community causing people to protest by giving GTA V negative reviews on steam, causing the negative reviews to spike upto 82% (Overwhelmingly Negative) on steam. This morning, Take Two responded to that by issuing a cease and desist letter to ForceHax, which is a popular online modding platform which allowed user to gain and provide in-game money and help to other users while playing online. granted some users did take unfair advantage of the vast features that the menu offered, but the actions were entirely up to the player. The whole "modded money" was popular due the fact that everything GTA V is over-expensive and requires a lot of grinding to unlock things, and the pay2win method is also extremely expensive, for example, an 8 million GTA$ card costs 100 USD, and a jetbike costs 2 million GTA$, Bunker Research costs 9 million GTA$ and so on. statement from Force: http://www.gta5hax.com Most people think this is because take two has realized that its anti-cheat system is not working effectively and the only way to stop modding is by issuing C&D letters. There are still tons of other mod menus for GTA Online that are still working but as far as I can see, it's just a matter of time before they all receive the same threat. Its sad to see modders being taken down like that, instead of taking a better approach to this.

  6. I'm building a desk PC. I'm almost completely done, ready to make my final cuts, super excited. The last hangup I have has been bugging me since I first got this idea. It's how to mount the gpu flat on the table, fan side up. I can't find any useful information anywhere on the internet, and every idea I come up with on my own seems incredibly convoluted. Can anyone help me out here? For the record, I'm using a zotac gtx 1070. Another issue I have is that the cooler overhangs the pcb by about an inch so it would be difficult it use the holes in the pcb to mount it since I'm not sure how I would reattach the cooler to the gpu once it's mounted. If there's anything I'm overlooking or any ideas you have please let me know Pic of my layout attached
  7. Hello everybody, so I want to build a PC and i would use the sleeved cables that come with the beQuiet! PSU's. And i would also buy UV LEDs and i would want to know if I can paint the PSU ables with normal UV Paint, because I didn't find any UV Cable sets. And if I schouldn't do this but you know some UV Cable Sets....please link them.
  8. Introduction I guess I should properly introduce myself first of all. My name is Randy but I go by the nick of Mech_Cheese pretty much everywhere. I've been around anything tech related since I was a kid and have just now decided to take on my first actual case mod. I have painted cases and thrown decals on other cases but I didn't consider that a mod. I hope no one minds if I post a link to Medium which is where I typed up my build log, or as much of it as I could, and put all of the pictures. If that is an issue at all then I will be happy to transfer it all to this post. A little background on the project I acquired the XPS quite some time ago and for a while it was my daily use PC, that is until one day it decided it was done and would no longer post after a restart. I put it up in the attic with intentions of getting rid of it at a later date but luckily that day never came. I had seen another XPS case mod and that got my gears churning with ideas so I lugged the beast of a case back out of the attic and got started. I was going to start with the BTX to ATX mod and then basically throw a decent paint scheme on it and be done but it turned into quite a bit more. Please feel free to leave any opinions on the project and I want to give a special thanks to my buddy from twitter @ReviewsByGarry for suggesting I migrate over here and post this. 9. My Dad owns a little computer shop and he's racked up quite a collection of old parts that are mostly ridiculously outdated. Is it worth modding cases and reusing old parts? Mostly to create browsing computers and maybe even low-end gaming computers for indie titles and older games. I'm not an expert modder but I could re-paint some old cases and cut into them to make them look more aesthetic. Not sure sure if worth the effort tho.
  10. I was wondering if anyone owns this case wouldn't mind doing me a favor. I want to buy the case and mod it to hold more drives. Specifically, I'd like to mod it to have 3 additional dual HDD bays in the back, so that would be six HDD in the front as well as 6 HDD at the front. See below for my amazing not MS paint diagram. I'd just need to tell me if that would work - that is, that there is at least 5 3/4 inches between the bar the divides the case in the middle, to the back fan. I realize that this would mean low profile CPU coolers only, but that's fine. Its just that this case is absolutely everything I'm looking for, and the higher capacity node 804 is physically too large for my entertainment unit.
  11. I have a redragon keyboard. I don't know the model number, think KURA or something, and a redragon M801 mouse. How would I go about painting the red blue? I love the mouse and really want to paint it. Here are pictures
  12. So i just recently built my first computer and i am starting to clean up the cabling as much as possible and i want to buy some sleeved extensions for the front panel connectors from CableMod but i want to use a usb extender since i would have to buy 3 front panel cables as opposed to the one usb extender. I wanted to know if anyone else has used a usb 2.0 extender for the same purpose and since there will be exposed pins on the extender i was thinking of covering them with hot glue or something so that they do not make contact with the case or any other metals. Do you think this will work?
  13. Hello, I have a Thermaltake Xaser III Case lying around from an old '01 server build. (Was used for home, but I went overkill with a dual xeon build). The case supports 7 80mm fans, and up to EATX motherboards. I'm looking to build a modern computer in this case. I really love the aesthetic, and the only downsides to using it is the lack of support for larger fans, no USB 3.0, and no room behind the motherboard tray for cable management (although this can be overcome with a modular power supply and some creativity). Anyways, my question is what parts are on the cheap side so I can build a kickass pc with a custom loop in it. I already have a power supply, hard drive, and graphics card. Specifically, I need recommendations for a cheap Intel CPU and motherboard that won't bottleneck the 980 I'm putting in it too much. Thanks for your time! P.S. - I also recommend this case for anyone looking for a project, who appreciates retro items, or just likes the cockpit-like aesthetic of the case.
  14. Image Above Provided by: LittleCarrot Welcome to the Brand New Update for the Modding FAQ Post This has been quite the work giving the FAQ a new look from the old text based version and I hope everyone here enjoys it and find it useful. The old version however is not gone, for anyone who still wants to view it with the same up to date info I will leave a link to it HERE. This thread will go over some of the most common mods, contain information on sleeving, painting components, templates, modding, and more with detailed instructions for all the mods. If there is anything you want to see added, or contribute let me know by either posting below or messaging me I'm always open to new ideas. General Wiring Modding Painting
  15. Today, I present to you the results of an experiment. An experiment in trying to quiet down an old XFX 8600GT by replacing its stock blower cooler with... something else! For reference, this is the graphics card that I was working with. It has an itty-bitty, tiny and especially whiny blower cooler on it that, while certainly functional, left a lot to be desired. It has no real form of fan control, and just goes full tilt right from boot-up. That simply will not do. So! I devised a plan to swap out the dinky stock cooler (the actual aluminum heatsink was about the size of half of a deck of cards, by the way) with a slightly-less dinky Intel stock cooler, specifically an E97379-002, that I got for about $10 from FreeGeek Vancouver (Anandtech has a great roundup of Intel and AMD stock coolers where you can see exactly what I used here). My original intent was to use JUST the Intel heatsink alone, sans-fan, in order to get absolute silence and to minimize the overall height of the card to slightly more than 1 PCIe slot. As you'll see in the numbers I show below, however, you'll see that it definitely did not work. So, let's talk numbers! I tested 4 distinct configurations, measuring temperatures at idle at the desktop on Windows 10 using MSI Afterburner, as well as when running the Unigine Heaven 4.0 benchmark at 720p Windowed with Low settings and everything else disabled several times to smooth out temperatures. The configurations I tested were Stock Graphics card and cooler as it was bought, Stock cooler after replacing the thermal paste with Arctic MX-4 (which I used throughout my testing), Modded card with a modified Intel stock heatsink (no fan), and finally Modded card with a modified Intel stock cooler (fan and heatsink together forever.) I also subjectively measured the noise produced by the coolers themselves, as I don't own a sound meter, and ultimately the actual measurements don't matter if I can't tell the difference on my own. *As a side note, I for some reason did not record the idle temperatures of the stock card for some reason, so it will be noticeably absent below. Oops. Thank goodness I'm not being paid for this! So, what have we learned from these temperature readings? Let's see: Replacing the thermal paste on an old graphics card can have a pretty significant impact on temperatures, with my card's temperature at load being reduced by nearly 10 degrees! A tiny, Core i3-grade aluminum stock heatsink is DEFINITELY NOT enough to passively cool an 8600GT. My guess is that the 8600GT can't downclock at all at idle for some reason or another, and instead runs at max power constantly. Modern GPUs can downclock at idle, which can help with temperature management a fair amount. With both the heatsink AND the fan, however, the card runs real cool-like, topping out at 71 C while running Unigine Heaven. From a temperature perspective, we have definitely seen a major, measurable improvement using the modded Intel cooler, so hooray! Great success, no? Well, hold on now. The first and foremost goal of this mod was to try and quiet-ify the noisy card. How did that go? Well actually, not bad either! It's hard to convey the difference without numbers or recordings, but subjectively, the overall sound signature is less of a high-pitched whine, and hovers more at a lower whirling of a fan. Subjectively, pretty dang good! So overall, I managed to ghetto mod a new cooler onto graphics card that both lowered the overall operating temperatures AND manages to sound subjectively much quieter than it used to. Aww yeah boi. Well, thanks for reading. Sure hope you liked my brief recount of my modding experiment with my good ol' 8600GT! I'll be adding pictures soon enough below, so you can see some of my work.
  16. Heyyyy, So I want to switch my R4 case to full(nearly full) tempered glass window from the small plastic one it has now, and I have a question. Where can I order a specific size of tempered glass with a hole in each corner? Here is my plan; I plan to take the side panel, dremel out most of the material in the middle leaving just the outline(basically), then put some paint on the edges to prevent any kind of corrosion, drill holes in each corner for bolts(want some bolts that are aesthetically pleasing, more like just studs with thumb screws on the outside. then put the tampered glass on that way, hence why I need glass with pre drilled holes, I do not want to use any kind of adhesive to put the glass on. Thanks in advance!
  17. Hello everyone and welcome to Project Evo worklog! First of all a quick presentation, my name is Alberto and I'm from Portugal! Was you can see on the topic title this project is in Case Mod World Series contest, Cooler Master propose me to mod a Master Case 5 for the contest and offcourse I accpeted it. The project is already in a good phase since I started it in Febuary. Well I dont intend to win anything to be honest I do this as a hobby and I dont have a big bugget to add WC system and all that fancy stuff, but I got to start with something so hope you guys like this project So speaking about the idea, basicly I'm on the Tower Mod category and like previous years I notice most tower projects never leave the "Box" concept, and for a "scracther builder" being stuck on the "box" is a bit strange so I started to think outside the "box" ( ), to be honest I really needed to think that way because was I said I cant afford all the fancy WC's system most "box" projects have, so finding a new design as really challenging since the Master Case 5 was been already so modded. So basicly the idea was finding a new way to look at the Master Case 5. So Idea found () and Project Evo born, lets see how things are going! #1 Video Images Concept evolution: Work evolution: Actual State Best Regards Tankian The Man
  18. Hey guys, since my last build was over a year ago, I decided to start a new project. I bought a used pc from eBay for a small home server. It cost me about 100 Euros. Now I will try some kind of a budget, sick looking, modded Pc build :-)
  19. I need a gta v modder on pc to give me a money drop or just money in general(money as in in-game currency).
  20. I'm putting together my new computer and I'd like to go with a super cheesy black and gold theme. The case frame and a few other bits (video card cover, motherboard shield thingy, etc) are going to hopefully be spray-chromed gold but I'm hesitant to do the same with the air cooler heat sink (an NH-D15S) because this particular spray-chrome process (there are a few) essentially involves some layers of paint. I know most people are going to say that getting the cooler itself gold-electroplated sounds ridiculous and is probably not a GOOD idea; I'm not going to dispute that. I just want to know if anyone thinks it's a horrible idea; are there better, safer alternatives? Gold has pretty decent thermal conduction, but would the electroplating process itself cause any unwanted thermal insulating factors? Additional thoughts?
  21. I would like to make everything in my build RGB, replacing the already crappy case, fans, light strips, keyboard, mouse, mouse pad etc. I am not sure what I need to buy and what is compatible with each other to make it all sync up. Video Card: EVGA GTX 1060 CPU: i5-6500 Mobo:ASUS LGA1151 DDR4 M.2 H110 MicroATX Motherboard
  22. Hey y'all, I'm sure this question has been answered in the forum before, but I was wondering if anyone had some tips they could share when painting/stenciling a large case. I've decided to recolor my case and spray an image onto the side (I'm going for a Fallout Nuka-Cola theme), but was wondering what the best material would be to cut the stencil into, as well as the best way to keep it from sliding around on my behemoth CoolerMaster HAF X case. I've seen people use frisket film, construction paper, tape, and adhesive sprays on Youtube, but haven't found any good tutorials specifically for computer cases. Thanks!
  23. So, I've got a friend that loves adventure time and also happens to need a new pc. I have an old Corsair Carbide windowed mid tower case that I would like to mod into into an Adventure Time themed build making it look like BMO. If someone would be interested in helping me do this, please let me know! I know how to do it, I just lack the tools and overall expertiese to make it look awesome. Thanks!
  24. So I recently fixed up an XFX 8600 GT (the exact same one as my previous post about it here), and the first thing I noticed about it after checking that the display was receiving a working signal was "Wow, this thing is load as all heck!" The entire cooling setup for the GPU is just smaller than a deck of cards pretty much, and that is including the blower fan, which takes up half of that total package. As well, the fan itself plugs into a two-pin header, so I don't think software control is really a possibility. My question, then, is would it be possible to adequately cool a 8600 GT using an Intel heatsink sans fan? And what's the minimum size (i.e. the regular vs. thinner i3 version) that might work here? One thing to note is that the 8600 GT has a TDP of 43 W, whereas an Intel i3 chip from the Haswell/Ivy-/Sandy-Bridge have TDPs from roughly 54 W (i3-4330) to 65 W (i3-2100). The heatsinks SHOULD be sufficient, but at the same time they rely on the fan to actively cool the heatsink.
  25. I'm a big fan of small Noctua fan :P. Enuf said, I loveeeeeee this stufff
