Has anyone else had similar experience when upgrading to a 13900k, 5800x3D, 7000x3D from any previous CPU and seen disproportionate gains in performance in MMOs specifically? As in higher % gain than expected overall in these games, especially in high player density environments? I've done two system upgrades with drop in 5800x3D, both of which users were primary MMO players at the time (WoW, Warframe, Planetside 2) First system was a 3950x (tuned since it was my system) to 5800x3D CPU swap with a kit of 2x16GB 3600MHz CL18. A primary control was a relatively low population scenario, defense mission in Warframe in Orokin Void. On a 6900XT at 4K, the framerate was ~160fps which went up to ~240fps, being a 50% gain. In WoW (which at the time I played, Shadowlands) sitting in Oribos also netted ~50% increase. Planetside 2 overall experience is far more difficult to measure, since the player count is particularly limting on that game, but going from a 3950x resulted in close to double the framerate, ~45 fps to ~90 fps, though that's subjectively gauging a similarly sized battle. Though with this game, the test wasn't immediately after a CPU swap like the other two. Second system was my brother's R5 3600 (factory, he's not an overclocker), which got a CPU and RAM swap to my previous 5800x3D and 2x16GB 3600MHz CL18 kit, once I got a 7950x3D. This was recent (obviously) and in the initial testing in WoW, sitting in the new city in Dragonflight, his framerates were doubled. He doesn't play Warframe and has only launched Planetside 2 twice, so I didn't have data before or after for these comparably. The theory being that in high CPU draw call games like MMOs with tons of player assets to handle, CPUs with markedly higher cache, being 3D v-cache CPUs and even CPUs like the 13900k, should disproportionately benefit MMOs. In my testing so far, when I swapped both an R5 3600 (mind you with a RAM upgrade) and the 3950x, the gain in performance in MMOs was disproportionally higher than the gain in performance for other games. Overall between the 5800x3D vs 7950x3D in these games did not net nearly the performance gain as from upgrading from non 3D processors, providing the theory that 3D v-cache disproportionately benefits these titles. I could very easy test this theory with the 7950x3D by disabling CCDs in WoW specifically, though I don't play that game anymore, and Planetside 2 is very hard to control for. Warframe only occasionally has a scenario where there's a high player count to test this, though that's neigh impossible to control since each session instances differently. The 13900k should be relevant in this discussion, since the amount of L2+L3 cache between 10, 11, 12, 13th gens was quite massive, tripling between 10th and 13th gen and a 1.5x gain between 12th and 13th gen. The obvious problem is no major benchmarking source is going to do extensive CPU benchmarking in MMOs, since they're very difficult to control in terms of variables. In my experience, this is independent of resolution, whether 1080p, 1440p, 1440p UW, or 4K, which indicates a heavy CPU limitation. That heavy CPU limitation in particular being in high player count areas like cities, raid groups, large battles, etc. I've always seen it as a missed opportunity since the academic benchmarking is generally consisting of AAA games that I would imagine most gamers aren't actually playing, versus the ever popular MMOs. The data I've gathered myself and seen from various sources has driven me to differentiate between academic benchmarks like such and practical benchmarks like what I've gathered in particular games, as someone who will disproportionately stares at framerates while gaming. From Ryzen 5 3600 to 5800X3D: The Big Upgrade | TechSpot From this article, one particular value being of note, the 1% lows. This value in games like MMO can be crippling in some areas with lesser CPUs, something that 3D v-cache seems to mitigate. I would assume MMOs overall would fall quite high on this tier list, probably >100%.

I'm looking for a good mmo to play. Some criteria i'm looking for is a game with combat mechanics, a pvp capability, although not the main focus, and where people can use a chatbox to yell insults at each other. So here's the thing, according to games critic and developer Yahtzee Croshaw, game ideas are a dime a dozen, so noone's going to steal your idea. After which he made a video talking about the ideas he would steal. So I'll keep things general. How many of you have heard of the game series "infamous" it's created by the developers Sucker Punch and so far has three main entries: Infamous on PS3, Infamous 2 on PS3, and Infamous Second Son on PS4. It's a game about a character who gets granted super powers, and the player has to decide (based on a morality scale) what to do with those powers. Basically, I want this as an MMO. Everyone gets super powers, and its totally up to the player what to do with them. Secondly, about my search for an MMO, obviously giving out personal information is a big no-no, so don't do that. However aside from that, an MMO that features both a chatbox and PVP combat means that harsh, inflammatory insults can and likely will be moderated by the players, primarily in the form of a knuckle sandwich, or a fireball to the face. And in a game that features a wide variety of superpowers, ranging from flight and super strength to shapeshifting, you'll have a lot of stuff to argue about before you get to anything in real life.

Just getting back into Secret World Legends, lvl 12 Trickster Templar...I play irregularly. Looking for a fun Cabal (their version of alliance/guild), hopefully with a helpful, active community to enjoy. I play via Steam, but I don't think that limits the servers (I may or may not be wrong on that). In game ID is HereWeGoAgain. EDIT: Turns out there's no separation between using Steam or the Funcom client. I plan on playing sometimes midweek. I sleep days and work nights, so I guess I'd be more active during European daylight hours or evenings US earliest. Also potential hangups during the next month (LTT Folding Month): SWL does NOT like it when I try to fold on F@H with the GPU and still play...it crashes to desktop any time there's a cutscene.

A bit late topic, but exciting news for the future of games. Some has been in the works or still being built on, but some are releasing their versions for big production. That one can scale your game as big as you like, depending on how you set it up and cost. There can be some issues, how its tied or used in a specific way, or the backbone for these titles to run on "extra complicated services", although some are more modular/replaceable than others. A bit sad though, when you know companies like ubisoft will go too big, and fall even harder with the workers at stake to their titles becoming live service with added cost falling on the players. Thanks MSF 2020, for what they did and still do for their game. Ubisoft service, scalar! (march 18) Modular system for how your game world works, and processed or updated, live? (no malware update pls). But says they will support different physics and they can be changed like a "modular component", or AI/ML that ubisoft use and is progressing with, for gameplay, like animation and simulation that they suggested in this video. With server services to be tied with the game scaling services like above? AWS for games, AWS game services (march 23) to streamed titles like the massive amount of data to be used for MFS 2020, for terrain, texture, real time data and for weather, and more. Google with Agones (2020 march 23) Microsoft with playfab. Then you got unity's UGS (game service) Unreal engine with EOS (epic games online service) To what was previously holding the title for big scale games but was banned by unity, "Improbable" which assumingly holds some of the records in how many players in the same scene in 3D world and nothing disabled like physics etc. Although some of this has been done before, maybe not in the same way and if it can scale a lot more interactions between players. As the traffic or "feedback" has to reach the players being interacted with, to their input and output done in the game world. My thoughts This could change some MMO creations, and much larger titles. If we get "DirectStorage" too and the improvements of future networks and into wifi 7 + the 5-6GHz range. Hopefully not reaching the the big M, I mean F. Sources or a bit about it How some of it works, game engine create to cloud. Like with AWS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3_4jJ5XazY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9__D53WsUs another great talk from google https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAKAWprvbso

Hello everyone! Greetings, I was looking to get back into mmos after a long leave of absence.I have been craving that feeling of satisfaction after hours of grinding, so I have decided to take a break from other games for a while and invest my time in a good mmo for a couple of months. The problem is I don't know which one should I choose.I do have some requirements like it should be f2p and have a good action based combat system and also a good community.I really liked neverwinter and Tera when I used to play them.So what are your suggestions on which MMO should I play?Maybe we can even play together. Thank you.

Hello, im looking for an mmo/rpg mouse with very low liftoff distance. i already own a corsair scimitar rgb and a naga hex v2 and also an naga chroma and all of these mouse either wont track on a cloth mouse pad (the laser sensor in the razer mouse) or have a very high liftoff distance like the scimitar rgb (around 2cds on cloth pads) so i need a mouse with side button and preferibly and optical sensor because laser mouse wont track on my cloth pad for some reason that also has a very low liftoff distance. Thnx for helping!

Hey all... I need some opinions as I cannot decide what to do... I've been a huge elder scrolls fan since oblivion. Was so excited that they made a MMORPG of the series, ESO. I pre-ordered the imperial edition from launch.. Played beta before that.. Feel like i'm very committed to the game. After the last 3 years of the game being out.. I just feel that the game is far from what it should be. For example they've changed the base of the game twice already, first being as they removed "veteran levels" and implemented the CP system which should of been there since the beginning, and the second being One Tamriel, making anyone can go anywhere at any level(Which I understand a lot of other MMOs have diverted to, which is all good). Endgame for me is fun, doing veteran trials are fun. But after like a 1-2 months of doing the same trials over and over.. Feels boring. And Cyrodiil PvP is a joke, between the lag and all the zergs I just don't like it, even from when the game first came out. They just released the new "chapter" Morrowind and it feels super not complete, between their battlegrounds being 90% bugged at launch of live patch, to Morrowind feeling just uncomplete, with so many closed of ruins, and just feeling empty. Orsinium(One of the DLC's which was included in my Sub) Felt so much more complete, has more quests, and felt more complete overall. But this new "chapter" which I had to pay another $40.. has be wondering If I wanna be apart of this game still... Being that said, I've been thinking on picking up WoW once again, I played way back during TBC and WOTLK, and quit when cataclysm came out. Heard ALOT of good things with legion. Back when I played TBC and WOTLK the game felt so much more complete and premium vs ESO. I'm stuck here feeling committed to ESO based on all the time I've spent on there and being there since before the game "officially" came out and having the elder scrolls being my favorite series... Sorry if this felt like a vent, Just stuck debating on which MMO to go for. Any Opinions and support for one game or the other would be great. Which one should I go with?

Hello , i have some question considering black desert global performance. I am running : I7 6800K @4Ghz 16Gb ram 2666Mhz GTX980Ti @1400/1850 Raid 0 4*250Go Samsung 850EVO. On a PG248Q , 144Hz Gsync FHD internet is good too : Basicly a good gaming machine... problem is ... my FPS aren't great on black desert... And by not great i really mean , not great at all in some places. I can have FPS drops down to 5 fps or 40 fps but stuttering in Calpheon. Most of the time it's ok but some day it's really disappointing. Any idea about how to solve those issue ?

Looking for some build advice, haven't been gaming for a while so my build fell behind a lot. Wondering if I would need to start all over or a few parts here and there to get her back up in shape. Mostly planning to run Nox emulator(Android emulator) and a few games like Civilization, Warcraft(remastered) and maybe get back into WoW. Current build runs Civ decent but Nox destroys my CPU - running at 70+% Any advice is helpful. I definitely cheaping out on my cooling back in the day :-( Current Build: CPU: Intel Core i5 4670k CPU @3.40GHZ MoBo: ASUSTeK Z87-A RAM: DDR3 16 GB(4) - G.Skill GPU: GeForce GTX 770 Power: 750W Cooling: Corsair H60

So as the title suggests i am looking for a new MMO to play. WoW got old a while ago and i'm constantly on again off again in RS3/OSRS. Lately as far as single player goes I've been enjoying some Final Fantasy XIII. Was wondering if FFXIV is worth looking into since it'll bring my current interests together. Been hearing some buzz about FFXIV but as to why its good now compared to launch seems to be a vague topic. Just want to know if this game is worth a look now, and if so, what are some tips you would give to a new player of the game (who of course is not new to Final Fantasy in General). And before you ask, i have played XV, my feelings can only take one play through of that game every couple of years, cuz i'm a Babby.

Hi! This thread is created out of curiosity with the question: what roles do you mainly play in your games? For me, i mainly play CS:GO and play as a rifler and secondary AWPer, but on the CT side i prefer AWPing. This thread isn't limited to FPS games, feel free to state any game!

uPDATE: The overwhelming response I have is that I should update this system with an i7, a better SSD, and a 1050/1060. I was thinking this would probably be the answer, but didn't know if the z87/DDR3 architecture was worth it anymore. I'm going to do an update, thanks for the input everyone! I'm building a PC for my kid. That said, the house PC (my first build after my Dell power supply shorted and killed everything on the Precision) will become available again. However, I want to upgrade it...or get rid of it and start over. I don't know if it's worth upgrading this system or not. I don't even know if it's worth salvaging the case, or if that's due for a refresh too. One of the front USB ports on it is dead, and the fan speed selector never worked. Here's what it has in it, because this was what I could get on my budget at the time (and I didn't know what I was doing): Intel Core i3-4330 with the stock cooler Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 2x4GB 1600MHz CL8 Seagate ST3000DM001 storage drive 128GB Sandisk SSD boot drive Zotac GTX 650 ti Mini-iTX NZXT H2 White case Corsair CX 750M power supply Samsung 1080p 60Hz 27" monitor, pre-GSync and FreeSync The kid plays a lot of Steam games on it, I think he plays Witcher 3 (I don't know how), Overwatch, WoW, LoL, Tekken, and a bunch of other stuff. But he also complains about how terrible the computer is - constantly. This PC will probably turn into the wife's. She played (before the kid took it over) WoW, Guild Wars 2, and games on Neopets (isn't that a blast from the past?). She uses it for Google Docs for work when she can steal it for a few minutes, and does web browsing. She will never do VR, and will never care about gaming at 4k or in 3D. I don't think she would ever do a shooter game (although she loves Fallout 4 and The Evil Within 1 and 2 for the PS4). Thoughts?

Hi fellow LTT'ers, I wondered if anyone could recommend any PC MMORPG's that fit the following description. Third person, with a shooter element that allows for vast (or as vast as it can get) customisation of your character, that takes place on multiple world's. Ideally the weaponry would still allow for good old fashioned lead bullet guns (although I guess most space games will be all lasers and energy weapons). In essence something akin to The Division style of play but set in a sort of Firefly-esque universe. I know it probably doesn't exist, but you never know!

This thread is an active, in progress review of my new Logitech G600 & will be edited as updates arise over time. Day 1: So far it's working fine on my small, free, multi-colored cloth mouse mat. I haven't experienced any tracking issues, even did a circle & line drawing test between this & my G100s, no difference that I can see. While we're on the subject of consistency though, here's an odd one. Whether I turn the Windows setting Enhance Pointer Precision on or off it doesn't seem to effect anything. Maybe this is because it's a Laser mouse I don't know but there was always a noticeable improvement while having it checked on with all my past Optical mice. I've disabled the ring finger click for now until I get more used to the design because I kept accidentally hitting it when moving the mouse to the left. Aside from that though there's only one other issue so far, right out of the box there was a small scratch on the back piano finished surface of the mouse. I can't feel it with my finger or hand, only finger nail if I glide it across multiple times & just barely at that. I've already told Logitech about it in a Contact forum I submitted asking other questions as well but made it clear I don't want a replacement. Oh & while typing this I noticed the mouse makes a scraping sound when I lift it unevenly on my mouse pad. I guess it's just the edge/side texture of the mouse gliding across my mouse pad, hopefully this wont sound even louder if I go with a hard pad in the future. Scratch Pic: Day 2: I've had to reduce the DPI from 300 & 1300 to 200 & 1200 respectively, I had heard that laser mice have built in acceleration but this is the first time I've witnessed it. Also scroll wheel tilt, G7 & the ringer finger buttons are disabled for now until I find a use for them. Week 2: I'm sorry I intend to do a one week later review but I got distracted by other things & just how well this mouse is working out for me. I've yet to have any accuracy issues despite it being laser on a generic cloth pad. Even after a long Double XP Weekend of playing RuneScape for 10 hours a day consisting of constant clicking, the mouse still functions like new. Over A Month Later: So far still no issues, I think I'm past the breaking in point as now all 3 primary buttons sound the same. After the 2 week mark I could hear a noticeable difference between left & the right & ring finger. It & the feel is all the same now though but I'm wondering how long it's gonna take me to get used to using all these side buttons. So far I've only made use of 3-5 regularly, hopefully the rest wont prove to be a waste in the long run as there aren't any mice in-between this amount & just the normal back & forward buttons. 4 Months Later: My Logitech G600 is still working fine, I have experienced a few potential misclicks but I couldn't replicate them. So that could just be a separate issue with whatever I was doing because it usually only happened when I was multi-tasking with multiple windows up, side by side maneuvering between them all.
