I’ve been trying to find some good headphones that I can use for on the go listening (in the car or plane) and using it for mixing and mastering audio in a music studio environment. I’ve tried the beyerdynamics DT 770’s and they’re not really for me IMO. I’ve heard that the MDR-7506’s are also great as well, but i’m not sure how they’re like. My budget is $100 - $150, and i’d like a clean neutral sound (not too punchy on high ends or quiet on low ends). Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

So I got the Sony WH-1000XM4 recently. One of the features is multipoint where you can connect teo different devices at once. I was disappointed to find out that did not mean I could hear my pc game and phone youtube/music at once. (Although I suspected that would be the case). Now am well aware that you can get a mixer to achieve this but mixers are wired. What I'm wondering is are there any Wireless Bluetooth headphones that allow for two different Bluetooth connections that I can listen to at the same time. If not, are there any (realitvly affordable) mixers that can have Bluetooth headphones connect to them to hear the mixer output. Or prehaps some sort of software solution. I know this is a little weird but it's a feature I've wanted on headphones for a LONG time. So thanks for any advice.

Hello forum, I was hoping that some smart or knowledgeable individual could help me in my dilemma. The plan is to upgrade from my existing 16 GB (2x8) of DDR4 RAM to 32GB. Problem: I can't seem to find an offer for the exact memory I purchased 2 years ago. What I bought: Ballistix 3000 MHz CL15 RAM for cheap. I was informed that it's the same die on the memory, regardless of whether I buy the cheapest 3000 MHz or the most expensive 3800 MHz kit. So I just overclocked it for the time being - worked out great and been running stable ever since. HOWEVER, upon checking shops, the most attractive deal is for a pair of 3200 MHz CL16 sticks. I would have wished to purchase that and run 4 RAM modules for a total of 32 GB. But the word has always been: do not mix your RAM. Would I be doing this by using the same manufacturer? What's the spec I need to check specifically to be sure that I don't run into any issues? God, has anyone ever done this or has any sort of experience? My assumption would be: It's still the same chip underneath and once I plug them all into my new motherboard, I set the timings for all of them equally. I check my RAM timings via some software and overclock afterwards if needed. Now, that would be glorious if that worked the way I imagine it, but PC building has a way of crushing many such hopes. I need someone to tell me where I am wrong Or if it at all possible what spec has to be equivalent as to avoid 'mixing' memory within my system. Thoughts on going for 4 modules for a 32 GB setup? I KNOW that selling my existing kit and simply buying a new pair of RipJaws or whatever is the safest route. But that would require me to sell my stuff on the second-hand market and get a fresh 32 GB kit for ~140 USD instead of just upgrading for 70. I don't think I'll get too much for a used pair of 8 GB sticks, even though they run just fine. RAM seems to be one of the more prone components to failure after all. I appreciate any sort of insight you can give me!

Ok, so I'm looking at getting some new headphones and I was wondering whether I should get the DT 990 PRO or DT 880 PRO, keep in mind, I don't want closed back headphones, so my question is, which ones are the best when it comes to the least amount of sound leakage?

Hey LTT Forum, I wasn't sure where to put this, so I figured the general discussion board would be the best. So, basically, I studied audio engineering while in college and in those days its was all about ProTools on Macs. It was the industry standard and everybody used it. Let's flash forward to today, where I still think Mac/ProTools is the standard, but PCs and ProTool for Windows has certainly closed the gap. Being out of the audio mixing/mastering game for about 12 years now, what would be a nice home studio board to get that won't break the bank, but still has great usability with ProTools Windows. I don't need some giant 64 channel mixer. I'm talking 16 channels and something that can fit on or under my desk. I look forward to hearing everyone's input! Thanks ~Tropton13~

As I get older I find myself saying more and more that music these days suck big hairy dog balls. All I hear is a wall of noise with no definition. That's not to say I find today's music bad in composition or subject, but in the technical side of things, the mixing, I feel that something has gone horribly wrong. A prime example is Wagakki Band's Senbonzakura. Great song, horrendous mixing. It appears that I'm not the only one. Apparently this has been an issue with audiophiles for a while, something they call the Loudness War (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war). Music executives seem to think that louder music equals more sales, but in order to increase volume without distortion or clipping, they need to compress the dynamic range of music. This means that while the song is louder, the upper frequencies get chopped off and all instruments tend to be the same volume. Some say it's destroying music and other says it's what people like these days. Question is, do you guys like the way music sounds these days? Do you like a wall of sound or do you prefer fuller sounding instruments with lower volume?

Still fairly new to the forums, so apologies in advance if I am missing any information or misunderstanding any guidelines. I'm looking to (ideally) take my headphones and microphone and mix their input/output between a console and desktop. I'll try and clarify a little more: I'm looking to take my headset (which uses two 3.5mm jacks {3-pole}, but can easily be adapted to a single 4-pole) and mix my audio (headphones and microphone) between two devices. I'd like to be able to either: a) mix headphone audio between two devices (music and game audio from two different devices) switch microphone audio between two devices (communication to either Skype or Party chat) b) duplicate microphone audio to each device and mix headphone audio from each Note: Currently using a pair of M50x's with a Modmic 5. Using Antlion's USB Headphone/Microphone adapter to connect to my console or front panel usb on my pc. Apologies if that was convoluted, worded poorly, or confusing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys. I have only recently been looking into creating, recording, and mixing my own songs, and am looking into purchasing either MIxcraft 8 or FL studio 12 to do so. I have way more experience with mixcraft, but fl studio looks more versatile and expandable. Which is best? --thanks

Hi , LTT I recently bought a pre-built gaming computer and have been wanting to add more ram to it however I have been having difficulty finding the timing, and speed I need to match what is already in my machine which is adata ddr4 2400 (pc 19200) this listing was the closest I could find http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211905&cm_re=adata_xpg-_-20-211-905-_-Product I have included a screenshot of the timings of the ram in my pc do you thinks this would work or would I be able to mix and match brands so long as the timing and speed are the same? sorry I'm kind of a noob when it comes to pc

Hello there So here's the the thing,i've already got a ram stick "hyperX savage 2133mhz cl13" and i want to add another 4gb of ram of the same brand "hyperx savage 2666mhz cas13" and my motherboard support 2133mhz My question is: will this work ? if not, what will ?(apart from the EXACT same model of stick that i already have, since, after research,is unfindable )

Hi everyone! I'm a musician using Reaper for some amateur recording and mixing, as well as guitar amp/cabinet simulation so I can practice silently. I've discovered that when using ASIO within Reaper, to connect my interface, it takes full control of the sound within Windows. This means no other sound can play through Windows while Reaper is open. I would love to solve this so that I can play to backing tracks, talk to friends while I mix, etc. I was thinking that a solution would be a virtual mixer for outputs within Windows. Reaper can be set to any of my physical outputs, not just what Windows itself is set to. This means I can set Windows to my headphones, and Reaper to my laptop's speakers, and they can both work simultaneously. Is there a way within software (rather than buying a physical mixer) that I could route one output into another, so it could all come through one physical source? I've found some software mixers, but they all appear to only be for inputs. If this isn't possible, I'd love to hear any other suggestions for fixing my issue. Thanks!

Essentially I'm noticing certain games eat up my ram even with chrome closed. (Cough, BO4) Thus, I feel I need to finally move on from 8gb. I have a single 8gb stick of Corsair vengance ddr3 (1600mhz). I still see 16gb as a waste, as I don't do anything other than gaming and web browsing. Thus, I want to add a 4gb stick of the same brand, speed, etc. Would this cause a drop in performance as the sticks aren't EXACTLY identical?

Hi, I have a Gigabyte B250M-DS3H Motherboard with an i5 7500 and 1 8gb stick of Kingston Savage 2666 mhz memory , currently clocked at 2400mhz with XMP. Im aware that my motherboard only supports 2400mhz and I got this memory a long time ago since it was cheaper (for some reason) than 2400 fury memory, Now im looking to upgrade to double channel and Im facing the problem that in Mexico the availability of memory went to the floor with the shortage, and has not recovered yet. Closest memory I can find is a Kingston Fury 2400mhz 1x8 stick, would this work? At the moment Corsair and Adata have more presence and still offer more variety than Kingston, would mixing brands work incorrectly? I appreciate any advice, thanks.

Hey everyone, I recently got a pretty decent 8 Ohm speaker for virtually free. My goal is to turn it into a cool little bluetooth/aux speaker thing I can take with me. I also have a PAM8403 amp board with a 3.5mm input. Now, connecting just one output isn't a great solution. I'd miss one entire channel, which sucks for music. What would be the best way to get around that? Could I just solder a 100 Ohm resistor to the left and right inputs on the board, connect them together, and then connect those to one of the outputs? I'm not very well versed around this (actually, not at all, basically). So any help would be appreciated.

What are the rules for mixing ram? so i have a Hyper X 8gb 3000mhz DDR4 ram and i want to get a RGB stick from hyper X can i do that. do they have to be the same speed and same GB size and do they have to be the same timing and voltage? what errors mite happen, will there be a chance that if they do work that they are more likely to stop working later by errors or what not.

I'm really on the fence which ones I should get. I hear some people shit on the ATH-M50x, but some people love it. I intend to use them for DJing, mixing, and general listening at my desk while playing games, etc. I have a Schiit Fulla 2, and I might use them with my laptops onboard audio when I can't use my Fulla 2, and obviously also my DJ mixer.

Hey everyone,tl;dr : I need mixing headphones ( not recording headphones ) for music production STRICTLY under $100-----------------------------------------------I’m a newcomer to the audio production industry. I am a student. I’m on a SERIOUSLY tight budget. So I need a mixing headphone ( and not the recording types as I'll not be recording any instrument ). My budget is around $100. I know that I should be looking for a "flat" sounding headphones. But I don't really know what I should buy. I have heard a couple of people recommending open-back headphones but I've found one yet. My current picks are (in no particular order)1. Sennheiser HD 280 PRO 2. Sony MDR 75063. Audio Technica ATH M40X4. Philips SHP9500 The first 3 have great reviews but are closed back... So I don't really know what difference would it make compared to an open back one. For the 4 selection... I found it on this website : https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/philips/shp9500-hifi-precision-stereo^^^ They seemed very professional in their reviews... So IDK. Also, its open back so again IDK because I've never seen anyone recommend the 4th headphone. Also any other recommendations will be grateful. Regards Jai

So I've got an XPS 13 with the quad-core 8550u, and It's simply not quick enough for running Cubase, Reaper and Pro Tools with enough plugin instances (Kontakt, Soothe etc.). My options are A desktop with a 3700x, and a cheaper laptop that i'll just have for mobile tracking and not mixing, A gaming laptop like one of the new Alienware 15's so I can mix on the go, with most likely a 9750H. My question basically is this. Is there a big gap in performance between the 8550u and the 8750h/9750h to justify staying with a laptop, which is far more convenient for me, or should I just bite the bullet and buy a desktop. Additionally, what should I really be looking at on spec-sheets to work it out? clock speed? core count? cache? I'm usually pretty knowledgeable about this stuff but there's no real channel or outlet that talks about audio professionals and gives good advice for professionals in this field. Also, I play some games but it's mainly F1 2019 nowadays so a gaming laptop or desktop would be fine for that easily. Many Thanks, hope to hear a response back soon xo

Hey Guys, I'm looking at buying a friend a new CPU at some point during the upcoming months and I was looking online to see which one was the best for what he needs. He plays lots of music and uses multiple software to mix and edit music. He also has DJ Decks and is messing around with music almost every night. He is currently using a mobo that supports LG1155 and is using an Intel Core i7 2700K with an R9 270X. I know that the CPU is more important for what he needs, which is why I decided to go down this route. Obviously having an 1155 board is a bit of a bottleneck, but I was wondering what would be best to get in terms of a CPU for an 1155 board. I did take a look at multiple benchmarks comparing several CPUs, but I couldn't seem to find a clear enough answer. Thanks!
