I have one 8 Gb ram with speed 2400 and CL 17, latency 14.1 and other 8 GB ram with speed 3200 and CL 22, latency 13.7. Will I be able to achieve dual channel in laptop. I have Hp ProBook 450 G5. I am unable to find same ram as installed in my laptop and I need to upgrade it because the previous one is always on 90% + utilization. Both rams are DDR4.

I might be going to mix 2 kits of 2x8 Corsair Vengeance RAM. the two kits are different(CMK16GX4M2D3600C18, CMK16GX4M2Z3600C18) could someone estimate my chances of running into issues? what are the chances I'd be able to fully utilize them?

I’m planning to upgrade my RAM and while looking at upgrading a question came up, one that has kind of but not fully been answered. Currently I have 2x16GB DDR4 3000hz Could I have 2x16 3000hz in slots 1&3 and have 2x16 3200hz in slots 2&4 my guess is the 3200hz will work but run at 3000hz to match the existing??? Second question with my 2x16 3000hz slots 1&3 Could I have 2x32 3200hz slots 2&4 would that work. If yes would it run 3000hz (Why is this a question at all, don’t have money to upgrade existing ram so making do for now)

Hey, I have the following kit from HyperX https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX432C18FWK2_32.pdf, thing is this kit is no longer in production, when I got this kit 3 years ago I thought I'll add a second kit later on but because it's no longer in production I either have to get an entire 4x16GB kit or try to mix this one. I tried asking Kingston if their new kit https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX432C16FB4K2_32.pdf will be able to work with the old one since it seems all that's changed is the better timings they said: Other than the PnP thing the only difference is CL16 timings instead of CL18. Has anyone tried to mix PnP RAM with newer RAM? Should this even be an issue?

Hey everyone, last year I built my first my gaming PC. Like many of you I really like RGB but due to badget had to go for non RGB. So now when I need upgrade I go for RGB options where I can. I'm currently running 2x8 corsair vengeance LPX dual channel and want to add an extra 16gb but wanted some rbg so was thinking about the vengeance rgb pro (same timings, latency, etc). I read in several different places (tom's hardware, reddit, youtube) that LPX and Pro only differ in size and color, however some friends were telling me to just get the same sticks and problem solved. Given that LPX and Pro are (supposedly) the same thing just different look, and assuming the same specs, is getting the Pros something that I can safely do or just better to stick with LPX ? Edit: not sure if matters but I'm currently running an ASRock X570M Pro4 with Ryze 5 3600x and rtx 2060

Hello, this might be a dumb question but can I mix 2x8gb 3200mhz hyperx fury with 2x8 3200mhz fury beast? Both rgb. I already have hyperx fury. I want to add some more, But Hyperx seems to be out of stock in UK and whatever I find it's 100£+ but fury beast is 70£. So I was wondering.

excuse my English : what is the difference between Hyperx fury and predator RAM Sticks (the same rated Mhz) i mixed them on my PC every other time I try to bootup my system it fails to startup ( not always ) X.M.P Profile is enabled (3200 MHZ on the both types) is there any problem with me mixing them or i have to do some tweaks in order to make them work together i9-9900k 48 GB Ram ( 2x8 hyper x predator / 2x16 hyper x fury) aorus z390 pro

So I currently have a 2x8GB 3200Mhz kit of Corsair Vengeance LPX, specs here: Tested Latency: 16-18-18-36 Tested Voltage: 1.35V SPD Latency: 15-15-15-36 SPD Speed: 2133MHz SPD Voltage: 1.2V But for reasons I can get 2x8GB 3200Mhz HyperX Fury RBG for redicuolusly cheap, specs here: CAS Latencies: 15, 16, 17, 19 Voltages: 1.2V, 1.35V Will these kits work well together? All answers appreciated! PS: I ripped the numbers straight off manufacturers websites, I don't actually know what they mean.

I recently had one of my ram sticks die so amazon gave me a refund so I could buy a replacement one I currently am using 3 sticks of Crucial Ballistix RGB 3200mhz cl16 and the only replacement part I can find is a non rgb variant of the same brand (Every website the rgb version is sold out as a single 8gb stick) all the timings and voltages are the same and I'm pretty sure it should be fine I just wanted to know if anyone else has done this or whatever, I've put the two parts names down below so you can check for yourself this is mostly just for sanities sake I made this post The ram I was looking at getting: Crucial Ballistix BL8G32C16U4B The ram I currently have: Crucial Ballistix RGB BL2K8G32C16U4BL edit: Managed to get my old stick working but thanks for your help

So, I wanted to upgrade my RAM, however the modules I had in my system were no longer to be found at my region. With this in my mind, I thought that mixing some RAM would not be a problem, as RAM speed is not that big of a problem in the workloads I have. I bought this (Corsair Vengeance LPX [CMK8GX4M1A2666C16]) to go with this (Kingston HyperX FURY Black Series [HX426C16FB2K2/16]). At fist I installed sticks in new-new-old-old configuration. My system did recognize the modules however it marked them as "Hardware reserved" in task manager and in the resource monitor (screenshot attached). Then I changed the configuration to new-old-new-old and my system stoped posting alltogether. After trying numerous times to get to at least a post screen, I gave up and removed the new RAM and changed the position of my old sticks to see, if my RAM slots were't broken. My system posted and booted, no questions asked. Then I did the entire process again and got the same results. As far as I'm aware, mixing RAM can result in performace problems but not the post problem, however simultaneously with me my friend also tried to upgrade his RAM the same way as I did and run into the same problem. I'm really confused. Can somebody here lend me a hand, please? I'm running Windows 11 and my friend is running Windows 10. I use ASUS TUF X470-PLUS GAMING motherboard with Ryzen 7 2700X. Any help will be very appreciated. And just to clarify, my RAM sticks were in fully. I did check to put them correctly; the problem is not that.

So I am building a high end pc for myself with a Asus ROG Maximus z790 Hero and a i9 13900k (to put you in context). I already bought 2 sets of G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) in 6800Mhz CL34 and so I was wondering if it would change my performences a lot compared to having a dual channel of 64GB (2 x 32GB). Here is the problem, the G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB don't have a quad channel DDR5 set with 6000Mhz and above. They only have a set of 2 x 32GB set with 6400Mhz CL32 which wouldn't be a worth change unless it's really going to be bad to have 2 sets of identical dual channel ram. Also I can't do any tests because I am still waiting on my GPU and Motherboard to arrive but I wanted to know now so I can order the other ones and return the ones I already have if needed. Yeah so I hope that I gave enough informations for you guys to answer my questions. Feel free to ask if you need more context or informations to help me and thank you in advance!

Hi, I have prebuild pc from acer and they put single 16Gb 3200Mhz ram stick, just want to ask you, if I need to buy exact ram or just match the specs and second question is that I need to match every spec. or just some of them? The ram they put there is overpriced, that's why I want to buy a different one. Ram specs 16GB DDR4 3200MHz DIMM CL22 noECC 1,20V

Okay, so I have 8 gigs of DDR4, and I am desperate for an upgrade. The thing is that i can't find the same RAM I had before for sale anywhere near me. (I live in Montenegro). So I was looking to get this one Kingston HX426C16FB3/8 and combine in with my old one Corsair CMK8GX4M1A2666C16 Vengeance LPX 8 GB. What do you guys think, are they going to work fine together. I am getting more RAM for gaming :D.

So recently I built myself a "High End" desktop for the first time ever since I've always been a laptop lover . After a week or so I realize that 8GB RAM was simply not enough to run all my program when I was faced with an error prompt "Not enough memory to play this video" when trying to open a video file I recently recorded . I went out and purchase myself a Corsair Dominator Platinum Chrome 32GB ( 2 x 16GB ) RAM and stick it together with my Corsair LPX 8GB ( 2 x 4GB ) stick . My desktop ended up failing to boot , motherboard shows code 55 . I tried reseating the RAM and CPU a couple of time but to no avail . Sooo my question now would be , is there any way to run the 2 different RAM together or do I have to return it ? It's 2017 and they still don't support mixing of DDR4 RAM ?

I have a 8gb ddr4 2133mghz ram. I want to get another 8gb ddr4 and make it 16gb ( dual channel ). If I can find a ram with same cas latency and voltage would it be a problem mixing the rams ? Or is it a must to buy a new set of (8gb x 2) sticks? I am a newbie in this section so any suggestions would be welcome. And budget is a issue here. I will have to sacrifice SSD if I get the new sticks of ram. So is it worth it ?

I want to build a new pc, but ram is really expensive, especially where I live, where a 16gb ram kit costs about 95€. However, I can save about 20€ by buying an 8gb ram stick and a 4gb ram stick (12gb total), both of which are kingston hyperx furry, clocked at 2666mhz. The only thing that's different, other than the capacity, is the Cas latency (16 for the 8gb stick and 15 for the 4gb stick). Is it worth it or is it gonna cause issues?

On the latest episode of ShortCircuit "The Laptop you'll actually buy - Dell Inspiron 15 7000" Alex mentioned that mixing memory can be somewhat troublesome. I have experienced this also, but that's with old hardware and i don't have access to test this with newer memory modules. Is this an issue with new ram modules/new chipsets also or just an habit of us not doing it because it didn't really work well with old hardware? Has there been extensive testing with new hardware? Both mixing brands and mixing speeds. I would love to see you guys make a video about this. Test with both AMD and INTEL boards.

So, want to upgrade my RAM in my current rig. When I first put it together, I had to make a compromise and go for a single stick of 16gb ddr4. i knew that it didn't take advantage of duel channel, but I was offered a good deal and didn't want to pass it up. Now I've made some upgrades and now my RAM is the only thing holding back my rig. I wanted to throw in another stick of the same model of ram but it appears its no longer available. So i thought about getting a single stick of 8gb from the same company. it would be the same clock speed and sub-speed. Would this be a good idea or should I look to buy an entirely new RAM kit. Looking to have more than 16gb but no more than 32gb Max budget is $150

I'm using two sticks of 2666 memory and ordered two more sticks of 3600 as an upgrade. My CPU is a i5-9600k with a z390 board, and the CPU doesn't support quad channel. My question is, do I have to run all the memory at the same speed if I use all of it? If so, would I be better off just using the 3600 instead of the 2666? I do plan on running some tests once the new RAM arrives.

Hi, currently I'm using a Thermaltake H-One 3000 MHz memory at 3600 MHz (16-20-20-20-38), it is also stable at 3600MHz(18-19-19-38). Now I need to extend my memory. But, there is a shortage of RAM in the local market. If I buy Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz, will I be able to overclock them to 3600MHz after mixing? Is there any chance of incompatibility? Thanks in advance.

What are the rules for mixing ram? so i have a Hyper X 8gb 3000mhz DDR4 ram and i want to get a RGB stick from hyper X can i do that. do they have to be the same speed and same GB size and do they have to be the same timing and voltage? what errors mite happen, will there be a chance that if they do work that they are more likely to stop working later by errors or what not.

I need advice on mixing ram sticks. I currently have an 8GB stick of Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600MHz CL11 1.5V I'm looking to buy another stick of 8GB 1600MHz ram. Can I mix different brands? Different Cas Latency. I know that voltage should be the same. Thanks

So Im trying to build a budget Ryzen 5 build to hold me over until Zen 3 architecture is due to launch in 2020 with the first 7nm manufactured CPUs (Moore's Law theory). So Ive already sourced both a used R5 1600X CPU and Gigabyte AB350 Gaming motherboard off eBay for $200. i even found a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD for $50 certified refurbished. The one thing I can't seem to source cheaply is the RAM. People both on Craigslist and eBay are charging near-MSRP pricing for their RAM modules. I offered one guy a very reasonable $140 for his USED 16GB (8GBX2) Corsair LPX RAM and he turned it down! I tried making reasonable offers to many different people and got shot down over and over again. And it seems to be because people are complete idiots when it comes to RAM right now and are buying used kits for $175-$200 when the SAME EXACT PRODUCTS can be bought brand new from NewEgg with RMA warranty for the same freakin price. Seriously, what the hell people? At this point, a cheap set of G.Skill Aegis 16GB (8GBX2) 3000MHz memory for $165 from NewEgg seems like the best value that I am going to find. The question is: do I really need 16GB of memory...? I am well aware that Ryzen, thanks to infinity fabric, relies more heavily on RAM amount and speed for performance compared to Intel CPUs. Therefore, I want to stay away from the "Bare Minimum 8GB". But how do I get reasonable priced RAM that doesnt cost as much as my CPU and Mobo combined? I mean spending $150-$200 on RAM would totally kill the value of this build. One idea I had is possibly purchasing 1 8GB Stick of memory along with a 4GB Stick to make 12GB in dual channel. I could do this with Ballistix 2666 MHz RAM, but then it would cost $155 making the Aegis 16GB (8GBX2) kit a no-brainer at $165 for 4GB more ram and 334MHz more speed with identical timings. So does anybody have any ideas on how I could spend around $100 flat for a 12 or 16GB dual-channel kit at 2666 or above speeds?

Hello Can I mix (Kingston ValueRAM 16GB 2400MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL17 SODIMM 2Rx8 (Notebook Memory) KVR24S17D8/16) and (Crucial 16GB 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Laptop Memory Model CT16G4SFD824A) From what I can tell they have - the same latencies (CL = 17) - the same amount of memory (both 16gb) - the same speed (both 2400mhz) - the same number of pins (260 pins) Hence they should be compatible for dual channel Am I wrong ?
