If I could swear, I would swear! I did my research, and I “knew” that the card I bought for my Dell Optiplex 990 SFF would fit. I WAS WRONG! Completely different bracket, completely different size, just different in EVERY WAY! I thought I could change the bracket and do this and do that but I’d rather give it back. The guy let me bring it back and get my money, so I’m coming tomorrow. So uhh…now what? What do I do!? Do I buy a new card, and how can I make sure it fits? And also it can’t be too much money. Overall, I made a BIG mistake! Sadness.

My specs: Intel i9-11900k 16gb 3600mh Corsair ram and a Corsair RM850 with a RTX 3060 (x64) with Windows 11 Home, Keychron V1 and a G502 Hero Recently I have realised that my "z" key is not working as it should be, on my browsers and my start menu etc. When I would press the "z" key, it would not work. I followed up by using a key testing website but weirdly it is working on any key testing website. I even used the Key testing software that came with my new keyboard since I even bought a new keyboard in hopes of it working. I have made a new account in Windows and it does work in there.

What on god's green (purple) earth is this thing? https://dl10.volafile.org/get/EA5K_hyukJaMR/20210129_172615[1].mp4 You don't have to download the file. Just click on the name and it'll pop up in browser. Is this an alignment issue? Is the tape degraded? Is it some issue dealing with the connection from the composite cables to the converter to HDMI signal (external adapter)? What is this?

Hi community, i recently added two hard drives and re positioned my fans, when i was plugging the fans, i accidently plugged one of the 3 pin fan header into the 4 pin rgb header, first i didn't notice that, then when i booted, i heard like a tiny buzzing noise coming from the motherboard, and the fan was not spinning, then i checked and realized i plugged wrong header, and i plugged it back into the 4 pin fan header and the fan spinned, but now, i hear like very tiny buzzing noise from the motherboard sometimes like idk once an hour? or once 30 minutes? and i don't know if i fried the 4 pin rgb connector or not, does anyone have a answer or a response for this? THANKS!

Double Check Your Crucial Drives Purchases Before Opening
Platus42 posted a topic in Storage Devices
The company I work for received a batch of Crucial 1TB MX500 SSD's that, uh, were not 1TB, rather they were 250GB. It was as if they were either packaged incorrectly or we received "unopened" returns. The first few we noticed we opened and found that the little manual you get packaged in different ways than what is regular (We use these drives a lot). So we checked every 1TB and found quite a few of them by scanning the QR code through the little window on the back so we didn't open anymore. All of these were still sealed and no major signs of being open, like cut open, pealed open, etc. My manager, however, noticed that all the incorrect ones were a little dirty under the label, that has the Serial and part number, around the edges and believes that someone used a heat gun to open it, swap the drives, replace the seal, and return them. If that's the case, then crucial doesn't go beyond outward physical condition for quality checks on returns. Crucial's a great company with great products and I'm not trying to smear their name (not like I'm anyone who can lol) but I want to make others aware of what happened to us. This is probably a one off thing and some guy got lucky by doing this, but still felt like I should share. -
A few days ago I wrote in here regarding a build that I am doing. I was just watching the video from JayzTwoCents and after buying all my parts I think I made a mistake. I bought those sticks of RAM : https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0B62WL8MK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Are they compatible with this motherboard with a Ryzen 7 7700X? If not, which one should I be buying? https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0BJDXDWS9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thanks in advance!

I purchased my watercooling hardware recently and due to a misclick I thought the radiator I had purchased was copper. Unfortunately it was not. Rad is the Thermaltake RL360, block is the Corsair XC7. I am using a premix fluid from EKWB that is advertised as corrosion resistant, but I think galvanic corrosion may unfortunately still occur. Is this correct? Does the fact that the alu is a nickel alloy help at all, and if so how long will I be OK for before permanent damage to the rad? As I understand the block would only be a problem if the corrosion caused particles to enter the water and get stuck in the fins, but please correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm changing anything it will be the rad, as I would prefer copper for the marginally better heat transfer anyway. Thanks guys in advance

Hello guys, So my friend bought 2 1060 GPU's... not only you can't SLI them but they're different frame buffer size too... What can he do with the one he won't be using? Yeah he got the second one as a present that is well... 3 months late (xmas). I feel for him you know... having 2 GPU's and not being able to SLI or anything, it has to suck real bad

In this video Linus mentions the fan goes up to "70+ decibels". I'm not a physicist by any means, but shouldn't decibel measurements come with a measurement distance? Decibel is simply a measurement of pressure difference. Since the pressure goes down the farther you're away from a sound source you can't really deduce any useful information from a number like 70 dB. After some google foo I found this page: http://www.noisehelp.com/decibel-scale.html where under the section "Measuring Sound Levels" it's mentioned that "For a reported sound level value to be most useful, it is necessary to specify the conditions under which the reading was taken, especially the distance from the source." leading me to believe my suspicions are correct. Any thoughts?

MISTAKE MADE IN THE MOBO BIOS CAN'T MAKE THE PC TO BOOT NO MORE NOTHING BOOTS AT ALL TRYED TO JUMP START IT WITH NO SUCCESS mobo: MSI B250I GAMING PRO AC I should change my username to very dumb rookie builder.. A few days ago i built my 2nd gaming pc. Everything went well, booted perfectly, everything installed correctly. I have been gaming hard on it ever since. I have been experiencing something i didn't with my first pc. Every time i boot the system i go straight to bios. I know there is a way to change this on the mobo bios but since i didn't figure it out right away the first time, i decided to figure it out later since i was too exited to game on it. Today i decided to figure it out again. And i actually did but decided to keep exploring my mobo bios to know more about it. This is when i commited my dumb mistake. I DON'T KNOW WHERE IN THE BIOS I ENDED UP BUT I GOT INTO A CODING SECTION. I TRIED TO GO BACK BUT IT WAS TOO LATE. THE 3 SECONDS I WAS ALOUD TO PRESS "ESC" HAD PASSED AND I WAS STUCK IN THERE. I DID NOT UNDERSTOOD HOW TO GET OUT OF IT. TRIED EVERY KEY ON THE KEYBOARD. NOTHING WORKED SO I FORCED POWERED IT DOWN. I then pressed the power button and it wouldn't boot anymore. Try every little hit i knew. Tried to jump start it with a screwdriver too on what i hope to be the right pins in the right circumpstances and nothing happened. Tried clearing the cmos too and nothing. Help idk what to do anymore. Everything was going fine for the bit i had it which is less than a week. As you may understand now my knowledge of computers is still limited. Got into it about 3 years ago. Focused on the gaming. Not on usefull stuff ...

So I was watching some LTT, and saw that one of the thumbnails had a cursor and a "View Details" box in the lower right-hand corner. Take a look. I marked the cursor and the box with orange arrows. Was this on purpose or on accident?

Hi, thanks for having a read and possibly helping. Today I've tried upgrading my motherboard and CPU from an x4 880K to an i5-4590. I've tried plugging everything in but when I try either pressing the power button or briefing the pins, nothing happens. And when I say nothing happens, absolutely nothing. I have no idea what I've broken, especially because the same thing happens when I try reinstalling my old motherboard band processor. This is really frustrating me and any help will be appreciated.

Hey guys! Basically screwed up. Had to send my mobo in for RMA and decided to clean the thermal paste on top of the CPU after removing it from the socket (I know). A bit of the material found itself on the bottom side of the CPU, due to sticking to my fingers and what not. Did my best to clean it but it's really hard to get Isopropyl Alcohol where I live. Can I leave it like that, since it doesn't reach the top of the pins (photos attached) or are there going to be problems? This is the stock cooler paste, so I have no clue how electrically conductive it is. Also, could I use normal rubbing alcohol (45%) to clean it? Thanks in advance!

Yeah so I accidently disabled my dGPU in Windows 10 and i have a black screen. Only way to get video out is by removing the 1060 and plugging the monitor into iGPU. Any way to re enable my 1060 without reinstalling windows 10?

here is my new computer, it's my first build and I did something stupid. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FKT44q I immediately enabled the XMP in the bios. Apparently Asus changed a lot more settings than it was supposed to or something. I went back to the bios menu and tried disabling it and still got a crash. So I turned XMP back on in the computer boots to Windows but things are not running efficiently. I feel like the 5820k with a GTX 1080 Should Be Getting way more than 30 FPS on average in Deus Ex mankind divided in high settings. so I checked CPU-Z and the core voltage looks a little low and the bus speed looks a little too high based on various overclocking videos I've seen on YouTube. Can someone experienced with overclocking please explain to me with proper instructions on every single edit I should apply in Asus X99a II bios settings?

So here is my story: Once upon a time there was an innocent guy working in his Sony Vegas Pro (aka me). Editing some Videos he imported the wrong file from his E Partition. He thought to himself "How about I press delete on my keyboard to get rid of the wrong files" and proceded to press the key. At first he didnt realize what he just now did. Slowly the cold sweat started going down his back. This mafaka still had his E partition marked and deleted the whole partition with over 100 gigs of footage, pics, school stuff, edits, stock files and psd files. And that's the story of how I fkin deleted my whole partition and had to recover it with recuva and had to organize them because obviouisly I lost the information like folder names and file names, so yeah there is that, shame on me. I was a lil' kid (or maybe not so little, I tried to seal the memory of this incident) and I thought it would be great idea to fkin dismantle my gpu. Well at that time I didnt know shit about how to handle a PCB and what thermalpaste is so yeah. I took out the perfectly fine working EVGA 6800 and started unscrewing it. Opened it up and was like "wtf is this creamy thing" so I wiped of all the thermalpaste and proceeded to play around with the pcb and the screwdriver. My dad obviously saw me and told me to put everything together. Well I put everything together, put the GPU back in and well, it didnt post and I got very sad because I knew, I fucked up so... Now I have a EVGA 6800 WITHOUT thermal paste (cause what kid would think about that ha) that doesnt post somewhere in my cloest.

Hey guys, Got an interesting idea, what would happen if you created a full vacuum around a water-cooled system, and allowed heat dissipation to occur external. Know it sounds mad, but the Thermaltake The Tower 900 is where the idea comes from, if you could seal the front chamber, allowing pass-through to the rear radiators and fans. The idea is I hope it will help with the efficiency of the water-cooling loop, as heat cannot be dissipated from the motherboard etc. this would cause a higher heat gradient for the radiators as the water-cooling would be absorbing more heat from direct contacts i.e. CPU & GPU, or extra if the motherboard is something like the Asus Maximus IX Extreme. Just a weird experiment that seemed up LTT street. Would be interesting to hear other peoples opinions and theories.

Okay, so long story short, I helped my roommate put together his PC, a nice build with an 8700k and a z370 ROG mobo. From what I understand, after I left, he decided to disassemble the build to apply some new thermal paste, but while trying to install the processor, he must have mounted it wrong and not only bent a few pins on the motherboard, but also a corner of the processor. I have it in front of me now, unfortunately I don't have a camera good enough to display the damage, but it seems like only a single corner is bent. It looks as if there is a small micro fracture on the side of the bend so I'm really not sure what the state of the processor is, it might just be dead. He's given me both the processor and motherboard and said essentially that if I can fix them, I can have them. I plan on giving them back to him if they end up working, I just feel bad for the guy. Does anyone have any ideas or any experience on dealing with this issue? I feel like I can fix the pins on the motherboard, he only bent about 3 and they haven't snapped, the processor is the real question. To add to the list, there is also a bit of thermal paste on the pads of the processor, but I assume at this point this is just the tip of the iceberg. I was planning to just attack this (carefully of course) with some isopropyl alcohol. If anyone can give some guidance it would be greatly appreciated, Thank you

Hello, I wanted to upgrade my Potato PC a little bit by adding another 2x2GB sticks of RAM. well i pick same capacity, same frequency but.. after plugin it all in system won't boot. I google it and found that additional memmory I just bought is mismached (it was used one, so can't really return it ;( ) What I got now: 2x2GB OCZ Series Platinum Revision 2 Model OCZ2P800R22GK Speed DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Cas Latency 4 Timing 4-4-4-15 Voltage 1.9V - 2.1V 2x2GB GoodRam Model GR800D264L6/2G Speed DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Cas Latency 6 Timing (not sure) 6-8-8-22 Voltage 1.8V Well what I can see now, that event if I will be able to run thoose two It will be slower than my OCZ setup - but really need it to work out. What should I setup and where to begin. Thanks a lot, Kesho

Hey Guys, As the title suggests I thought I would start a little topic about the biggest fails, whether tech related or not, so I'll start with mine. I was building my first pc, which im still currently using, and whilst taking the cpu out of the packaging.... well I managed to drop it from about half a meter straight onto a solid wooden desk. As it hit the desk it bounced and flipped over and then the other side hit the desk too. Because I was new to pc building I was worried that I broke my cpu... somehow it took no damage... I think. Anyway, feel free to share your biggest fails, whether tech related or not.... and please keep this sensible.

Yes I did make the mistake of buying an SSD. Now hold the comments, hear me out. Having had my pc for about two years, going from an fx-8320 to a i5 4690k @ 4.5ghz. A Radeon 6670 to a gtx 780. Numerous case upgrades, ram, motherboard, graphics card upgrades. You name it I changed it, except for the hard drive. A 1tb hard drive, holding videos and games. Modded tricked out games like Skyrim with hours of settings and tweaks and hundreds of gameplay hours on all my games. All on one hard drive. So I bought an SSD to improve my responsiveness and boot time. But apparently there is NO WAY to play your old games on your old HDD on your SSD. Yes I can reinstall like one or two games before I run out of space. But my internet isn't good enough, and what about all my save games and numerous programs? Alas it seems I'm dang out of luck. Unless there is anyone out there that knows of a way I can run my programs off of the hard drive, booting from the SSD. If no one does it looks like I'm returning it and starting the saving up process for a 960gb ssd and copying the entire hard drive over.

Last month, the Paris offices of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo were attacked, leaving twelve dead. Recently, however, famed Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki said he believes the French paper's Muhammad cartoons were a "mistake." In a TBS radio interview, Miyazaki discussed the shooting, which took the lives of several of France's most famous satirical cartoonists. Miyazaki is a co-founder of Studio Ghibli and responsible for iconic anime like My Neighbor Totoro. "For me, I think it's a mistake to make caricatures of what different cultures worship," said Miyazaki when asked about the Hebdo attack [via Yahoo! News]. "It's a good idea to stop doing that." That doesn't mean Miyazaki is against satire or criticism. For him, caricatures should be used in a different manner. "First and foremost, [caricatures] should be made of your own country's politicians." According to 47News, Miyazaki added, "It's just looks suspect to go after political leaders from other countries." It's worth noting that Charlie Hebdo has also lampooned Catholicism, by far the largest religionin France, as well as numerous French politicians. Nikkan Sports reports that elsewhere in the radio interview, Miyazaki expressed his concern over Japan's current prime minister and discussed the country's position in the world. At the start of every video coming from PAX Luke keeps thanking the HyperX youtube channel for bringing them to PAX this year, look at any of the latest videos, like this one here: In this video he says "That's youtube.com/kingstonhyperx" And here... On the video ABOUT HyperX But it's funny, on the HyperX Youtube channel... Their about the channel video starts of with... "It's just HyperX man!" Just something I noticed Even though both link to the same channel: youtube.com/kingstonhyperx youtube.com/hyperx It's almost as bad as "store.phantom.glass" lol. @LinusTech @Slick
