  1. Budget (including currency): 800 USD Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Internet browsing mostly, want it to last for 10ish years. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Ive made a parts list, no need for peripherals. Just some advice is needed. Thanks! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MzWxQP
  2. Budget (including currency): Indian Rupees, about 1 Lakh Rupees (1200 US dollars) Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly for Machine learning and Deep learning. I am a Uni student, hence the reason why I want a Mini-itx build. Being able to just pack it and take it on a suitcase is very necessary for me. I will be gaming too...thinks like RDR2 and many more (I don't really care about the type of games). Since I want to work on Large Language Models and Reinforcement Learning, VRAM will be important. But because I am limited by my budget and the space in the case, can't go for something like dual GPU config. It's a given but...I want the GPU to be CUDA supported. This locks me to the Nvidia realm...can't be helped. I know that the ARC cards have been recently supported in Tensorflow and PyTorch too, but I can't invest in it hoping that they will get better down the road. AMD is out of the question for ML and DL applications. I am not expecting to work on LLAMA 2 70b parameters or anything remotely crazy like that. But being able to work on the most basic LLM will greatly help me. I am also thinking of learning Unity for tinkering with Reinforcement Learning. I will be using windows for gaming. And thinking of using Ubuntu or Arch for programming (Not sure how they are for Machine learning tho...and I have close to no experience in Linux) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Don't include Monitor in the parts list. Since I will be going to UNI, I will probably buy a portable monitor of separate budget (I have 3 months of holidays...monitor is not my concern right now, I already have some ultrawides at home). Already have a good keyboard (My lovely baby...RK61). I am currently using a MacBook Air M1 with 8GB RAM with Venv-Metal for Tensorflow. It is decent, but I am limited by the speed, storage and RAM. I will be buying in about a month. I know that Mini-Itx will have heating issues and this form factor is more expensive than the standard ones. But this is something I have to live with, I want the system to be portable enough that it should not be a hassle for me. But my room does have Air Conditioner that is always at 20 Degrees or something. That might help. I also have a RX560 at home, my father uses this for his daily workflow (Stock market). So messing with that system will lead me directly out of the house ;).
  3. Made my first attempt at a mini-IXT build (part list here) and it's working great so far but it was louder than I'd like. I installed the low-noise adapter on the CPU fan and am now getting higher temps - peaking at 90 degrees when I run a Prime95 stress test. This stress test is obviously well beyond what my regular workload will be (use this computer for music production), but I want to make sure I'm not putting any crazy kind of wear on the CPU. Can I get away with results like this or do you think I have to ditch the low-noise adapter? Thanks in advance. (Green line is CPU Package, blue is CPU Average)
  4. Asrock H81M-VG4/Asus H81M-CS.Is it Mini-ITX or Micro-ATX? Both Asus and Asrock's offical product page says that these mobos are micro-atx. But their size (Asrocks: 7.5-in x 6.7-in, 19.1 cm x 17.0 cm, ASUS: 7.5 inch x 7.0 inch 19 cm x 17.7 cm) says otherwise. I was planning to buy a cabinate that can fir AsRock H81-VG4 board, and prefer it to be as small as possible. Should i go with Mini-ITX case or go with Micro-ATX case as per the info on official page?
  5. So my current case is this one Aorus AC300 https://www.gigabyte.com/fr/Chassis/GB-AC300G#kf But I plan to create a new pc in 2022 that would be smaller running on mini ITX board Planned CPU : Alder Lake i7 Planned cooler : https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Liquid-Cooling/iCUE-ELITE-LCD-Display-Liquid-CPU-Cooler/p/CW-9060061-WW Planned GPU : Either 3080/3080ti - 4070/4080 Planned RAM 32GB Planned SSD 2x NVME 2TB SSD + 2x SATA 4TB SSD everything else unknown Need room for a pci elgato capture card So I need a mini ITX case for all of this that would allow me to see the CPU display with glass panels My current case got theses dimensions : L= 458 x W= 211 x H= 469 I saw this small coolermaster the nr200p : L= 376 x W= 185 x H= 292 but my worries are that it seems you cannot use a gpu and capture card on the MB slots with a AIO on the bottom This lian li might look better : L= 420 x W= 269.5 x H=380 but it's wider than my current case Do you guys have any other recommendation for a case with glass panels?
  6. Budget (including currency): $1000 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: School, Online Gaming and Video Recording Other details: It has been years since I build machines in High School 1989-1993 and while in the Military and after for a bit, the last one I built was back in 2000. I myself have an Intel NUC Hades Canyon, but want to teach my son how to build his own gaming rig. I am not looking for the best of the best to start, but I do want to build it into a Thermaltake Tower 100. He loves RGB and how many gamers have their own rigs built. He is a self proclaimed gamer but more the online and steam games that I get him. I want him to learn with a small board so he understands all the bells and whistles is not a must, but instead learn he can start small and work up once he learns the tech and hardware. Force him to research PC components and latest tech as I did when I grew up. He is definitely a self learner which I am glad for, and hope he can have fun with this build. I already have the case as my parents said "Tengo la cubeta antes que la vaca" or " I have my Harley Gear before the Harley", lol. I am looking for good recommendations for a Mini-ITX build in a Thermaltake 100 ($115.00 at Microcenter) not to break $1000 too much. Definitely want to get this build up and running for him before school in September and also before I loose more of my eyesight as I get older. Gifts you get when you are in military that get worse with age.
  7. Whats the point of x570 on mini-itx motherboards? The main point of x570 is dual gpu support. So whats the point when you only have 1 gpu slot on a board such as a mini-itx. ?
  8. I am planning to build a mini-itx system. If use I use “Asus prime B460I-plus” motherboard with “Core i5-10600k”, will I lose any performance of the processor ? I will not overclock the cpu. I will use the pc for gaming and office work. TIA.
  9. Summary ASRock Rack launched ROMED4ID-2T motherboard, a Mini-ITX mobo that accommodate up to 64 core AMD EPYC server CPU. Actually its form factor is "Deep" Mini-ITX, being 170*208mm, and using one MATX screw hole. Quotes My thoughts This type of mobo has already seen on an LTT video(https://youtu.be/nF3w-xnkRwE), this is its AMD version. Thanks to its "deeper" profile, now this mobo is equipped with standard DIMM slots rather than SODIMM ones, and has some bonus space for front M.2 SSD slot. Yeah... it's still stupid. EPYC CPUs can handle up to 8 channel RAMs but this can house only 4 RAM sticks, and PCIe slot is limited to just one. But if you're into some small form factor overpowered video editing or rendering... or just for fun somethingy stuff, this is for you. In that context, I think it will be very good for LTT video material. Sources https://www.techpowerup.com/275208/asrock-rack-brings-amd-epyc-cpus-to-deep-mini-itx-form-factor
  10. "Budget (including currency): $500 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: voice controls, X-COM 2,Sniper Elite, GTA 5 Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're Here going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Since I'm a quadriplegic I use a lot a voice control, which I'm using right now to type this out, Dragon Professional Individual, Knowbrainer, Speechstart, Dragoncapture. It doesn't have enough graphics power to play pretty much any new games, I do play a lot of Civilizations IV BTS. Here is my current mini-PC which involves an Intel NUC 7 (NUC7i7BNH) - Core i7 (Amazon) 16 GB DDR 4, 256 GB SSD, Specter 20" 1080P monitor. This one won't run hardly anything gaming wise and acts like a small heater, I'm wanting something that is going to be quiet and not let out a lot of heat Now I have 2 different choices to choose from that I have an idea about. The first one is with the Minisforum EliteMini H31G with the 1050ti graphics built-in or the one listed here built from PC part picker PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor ($148.00 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B450-I Gaming Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard ($159.99 @ Amazon) Memory: Team T-FORCE VULCAN Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($57.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 4 GB Phoenix OC Video Card ($168.98 @ Newegg) Case: Cooler Master Elite 110 Mini ITX Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA 400 W ATX Power Supply ($36.49 @ Staples) Total: $571.45 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-10-26 18:29 EDT-0400 Although this is a lot more however I put the same components all in Newegg and the price came out to $471. Although I didn't factor in for the case fans. So tell me what you think, it has to be small that's why I opted for the GTX 1650 and the Cooler Master Case.
  11. I'm planning a build around the Sliger CL520 and I wanted to use a Ryzen 5800X when they drop, but I'm having trouble finding a low-profile cooler that would both prevent it from thermal throttling, and fit in the damn case. The cooler has to be 53mm or shorter to fit in the case and be rated to handle 105W. Any recommendations would be duly appreciated!
  12. I'm considering moving my PC into a smaller case, so this isn't a full build. I just need a case, motherboard, and psu. The inspiration for this is just that my current pc is kinda ugly. When I built my pc several years ago I bought a Corsair Carbide Air 240 because I wanted a clean, white look, I thought microATX would be a happy medium in terms of size, and I didn't budget much for the case so my options were limited. Nowadays however, I care less for the white color, microATX feels more like an awkward in-between size, I didn't realize until after I bought it that the window is plastic rather than glass, and my specific case looks like an accordion. Here's what I currently have: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gMHpgt And here's what I'm looking at: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BYm3F8 The parts I found add up to a bit under $300 (US) so I guess that's my budget. My reasoning for the parts I chose is as follows: I'm not sure if the Lian Li TU150 is small enough to count as small form factor, but all the smaller cases I saw are either ugly, a pain to build in, or 2-3x the price. Hardware Canucks reviewed it well. The only other case that seemed comparable in price, quality, and aesthetics is the Cooler Master MasterCase NR200P, but that doesn't have a handle, which I don't have a specific need for but seems like a nice feature, and I can't find the version with a glass side panel anywhere for a reasonable price. I guess I also saw a similarly-priced and good-looking Raijintek Ophion model that would also allow me to keep my current psu, but it looked like it lacked cable management space and Gamers Nexus' review said it had questionable thermals. For the motherboard, I've narrowed it down to the Gigabyte B450 I Aorus Pro Wifi and the ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming-ITX/ac. Other boards are either expensive, don't have wifi, or there's a poorly-reviewed msi. I'm leaning towards the ASRock because a Microcenter nearby has an open box one for a bit cheaper. Not a huge fan of Gigabyte anyway due to previous experience. The Silverstone SFX 300W is just the cheapest sfx psu I could find. It has an 80+ Bronze rating, Silverstone seems reputable, my wattage is low according to pcpartpicker, and I don't anticipate needing more headroom. I have one specific question. The case has a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port, but both motherboards only have a USB 3.1 Gen 2 header. Is is possible to plug it in anyway and just have lower speeds or are they completely incompatible? I'd also appreciate any general feedback, reassurance, different opinions on parts, or maybe you just think that's too much to spend for no performance difference. Thanks.
  13. Budget (including currency): 3-4k USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads: - MSVC compilation - VR games - Misc PC games (Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, Dwarf Fortress, Minecraft, etc.) - Light Unity development / 3d modelling - Light video editing Other details: - I'm upgrading from an Acer Predator laptop from like 2016 - I would like to buy immediately, although I'm tempted to wait for Black Friday or the Nvidia 40 series announcement - I would like to run at 1440 x 165hz - I'm not one to upgrade frequently, so I'd like to use this PC for 5+ years, just like I did with my laptop A couple of decisions that I'm not so sure about: - I cheaped out on the SSDs - I went with the 5950x over the 12900K - I might be overspending on the PSU This is the first PC I've built from scratch. I've done a ton of research, and everything looks like it works, but I'd love to get the build checked by some experienced people to make sure I'm not making any major mistakes. 14. I'm working on a new build with the following relevant components: MSI B560I mini-ITX motherboard Intel i5 11400 Noctua NH-L9i I installed the processor without issue. For several days I have been trying to mount the cooler to the motherboard without success. I can screw in three of the screws, but the fourth one will not bite into the radiator mount. I can make it bite by tilting it at an angle, but it only goes in about an eighth of a turn. I turn each of the only screws about a quarter turn, just enough for them to hang on but still leave flexibility to get the best possible fit. The instructions do not mention any particular orientation being necessary, nor do most videos demoing the install. This video does say that the bracket is not square and can only be installed one way. I have tried all four possible orientation and they all present the same problem. After careful inspection, it appears that two opposite corners of the mounting bracket are too far apart. Or possibly the motherboard screw holes are too close together. If the upper right screw will not go in, I can take the lower left screw out, then the upper right goes in easily, but the lower left will not go back in. If I rotate the radiator, the problem corner travels with it. The problem screw(s) occur at the same location relative to the radiator, but differently relative to the motherboard. Here are three photos of my attempt to attach the radiator with the fan cable in the top right corner. (I realize the fan can be moved, but it's a good way of keeping track of the orientation if you do not move the fan) You can see the screw in the lower left corner is not aligned. Here is a side profile showing the same screw on the left Here is a top view without the screw, the hole seems clearly off by a couple millimeters. If I rotate the fan assembly so that the cable is at the bottom right, you can see the problem screw moves with it. Now the bottom right screw is misaligned. Side view And lastly the top view, showing the holes At this point, I see four possibilities. 1) The NH-L9i is not compatible with this motherboard or processor without an adapter kit. Noctua's site appears to list both the processor and the motherboard as compatible. Perhaps I have misunderstood something? Or maybe the site is wrong. 2) I am being silly. Maybe I have missed something simple. Maybe I am not screwing the screws in correctly. Maybe the last screw not being aligned is not a problem and I should just force it in. Or any number of other possible silly mistakes. 3) The NH-L9i has a manufacturing defect. Perhaps the brackets are actually a few millimeters too far apart, more than they should have been. If I could rule out the other two possibilities, I should probably contact Noctua for a replacement. What would I need to send them to prove that a defect is present? 4) The MSI B560I has a manufacturing defect. Perhaps screw holes in the motherboard are misaligned. This seems less likely than (3) based on my testing, but I may not be reasoning properly. In this case, I'm not sure who I should contact for a replacement. I purchased the motherboard from Micro Center. I don't live near a Micro Center, but I had a separate travel destination that brought me near to one temporarily, so I picked it up there. I could try contacting MSI directly, but I'm not sure how far I would get. And lastly, what would they need from me to prove that the board is defective? The purpose of this post is to check if (1) or (2) is true and fix the problem. Or, if those are ruled out, determining who I should contact for a replacement and how to do that. Thank you!

Budget (including currency): Variable, but preferably under $2k Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: General use, Games like CP2077, Death Stranding, Modded Bethesda Games, VR, etc. Other details: This will be an PC upgrade for me. I've been buying this build piece by piece and I'm getting around to some of the (more) crucial parts. I've been also looking at RBG parts just 'cause it hasn't been a huge priority in previous builds. I'm also wanting to go AMD for this build as it seems to work better for Linux. PCPartPicker List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wnZDJM CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core MB: Asus ROG Strix X570-I Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 6800 XT 16 GB PSU: Corsair SF600 600 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular SFX (Purchased) Case: Cooler Master MasterBox NR200 (Purchased) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i (Purchased) or Corsair iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (pcpartpicker link) (I have not worked with water cooling before, is this part 'beginner' friendly?) I also bought a LinkUp PCIe 4.0x16 Riser cable to better fit the GPU. I'm mainly asking if my gpu will fit well in the case (since pcpartpicker doesn't seem to give an answer for it) as well as if my power supply is enough or do I need to upgrade/downgrade the PSU or GPU.
  16. I'm moving internationally soon, and part of that is taking the guts out of my current Mid ATX tower, and putting into the Thorzone Mjolnir later this summer before I move. It'll be: Cpu: 5600x Ram: 2x16 DDR4 Corsair Vengeance 3200 cl 16 Mobo: Asus ROG Strix X570-I GPU: 3060TI FE PSU: Corsair SF 750 My questions is what would be the best option for cpu cooling. I was looking over my options for cooling, and unsure which I should go for. From the couple of builds I've seen a 120mm radiator with an addition fan next the radiator. In terms of air cooling I would be considering a Noctua NH-L9i instead. The case also does support 240mm radiators, but I concerned with spacing since from what I understand it needs a slim style radiator that's 23mm thick, and that according to the details for the case "240mm AIOs can only be used with 1 x 120mm fan under the PSU". Am I just overthinking things, and what would you guys recommend for cooling. Thank you!
  17. Some years ago you could buy mini-ITX motherboards that had very low TDP Intel Atoms or Celerons soldered onto the motherboards. Seems like these are no longer being produced. Did these just fail to find a foothold in the market or were they replaced with something specific?
  18. Please rate my setup with constructive ideas to improve. Design was to allow for 100% usage of the CPU and GPU for crypto mining as well as small enough to take while traveling for work. Its a bit heavy at around 33.6 lbs but thermals are great (55C max while mining). Loud!! Thermaltake 100 case, Alphacool Monster 120mm rad + generic 120mm rad in back, i7-12700k, AMD 6800XT Sapphire Nitro+ with Alphacool waterblock, D5 Swiftech pump with Alphacool Block, EK CPU waterblock, ASUS Mini ITX Z690 motherboard, 32GB ddr4 Gskill RGB, and 5000RPM 120mm Server Fans for cooling. Custom temp gauge for water temps and PWM fan speed controller.
  19. Question (tl;dr): How does the onboard DAC/onboard audio on the ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming ITX/AC compare to that on the Gigabyte Z390 I Aorus Pro WIFI? (and compared to Asus ROG Maximus VII Impact if possible) Background: I'm looking to potentially upgrade from my Skylake i5 to an i7-9700k, but want to keep the same excellent sound quality as my current Asus ROG Maximus VIII Impact. My worry is that my current board might have a better DAC than available (and within price range) boards. When I switched to my Asus board from an old ASRock one, I was blown away by the far superior quality of the Asus' onboard DAC; now, I don't want to downgrade back down again. I don't have the space nor interest for sound cards or external DACs/amps Bonus: How good is the audio enhancement software bundled with those two motherboards' drivers? I quite like Asus' sonic studio currently, but their mini-itx ROG line up is far outside my budget

  21. I recently built a HTPC from spare parts and a $200 1070 TI last winter and have sort of fallen in love with it. It's nearly on par with my 4 year old desktop. My desktop is a NZXT Manta which I think is a nice case, although the curved design didn't age too well in my opinion. There's just a little voice in the back of my head telling me to transplant my rig into a smaller mini-ITX case, but it seems a little silly. I think if I was building today (or rather during more normal circumstances like last year) I would probably build my dedicated gaming desktop into a small case. What does everyone else think? What's your preferred case size/shape and why? Also as a side question, do you upgrade your case and when?
  22. I am going to be building my sister a mini-itx build so that she could take it on the road fairly easily; I would like to keep the case as light as possible while also being durable enough to handle small dings here and there. A lot of cases seem to fit the bill but they are pretty heavy, such as the lian li tu150 without the window. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks!
  23. So I've recently been in the market for a portable pc gaming solution. I browsed around for laptops for a couple weeks but couldn't find exactly what i wanted within my budget. So after receiving a little inspiration for linus in his triple monitor laptop build, I decided to go with a desktop instead. While this may not be truly portable or mobile because i can't use without power outlet, It's still an upgradable option, which is something i was hardly going to find with a laptop. And so, here it is: Cooler Master Elite 130 ASUS ROG STRIX Z270I GAMING LGA 1151 Intel Z270 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING DirectX 12 06G-P4-6262-KR 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card CORSAIR RMx Series RM550X 550W 80 PLUS GOLD Haswell Ready Full Modular Intel Core i5-7600K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 3.8 GHz LGA 1151 91W Crucial MX300 2.5" 525GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) G.SKILL Aegis 16GB (2 x 8GB) And for the monitor; GeChic 1503H 15.6" IPS 1080p Portable Monitor
  24. Hello and thank you for taking your time helping me, now lets get to it! Starting off mentioning Ryzen 7. Ryzen 7 1800x performs in several games including Witcher 3, Battlefield 1 and Fallout 4 equal or worse than a i5-7600K which is less than half the price of the flagship Ryzen processor (benchmarks taken from Sweclockers). Having that in mind I'm having a hard time thinking Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 3 will have better single-core performance than ryzen 7 and therefor it is not worth the wait. So therefor I am thinking of good old lazy Intel. Why I'm upgrading Budget Computer has to be fully upgraded(yes, new case) except GPU and Drives, so something around 600-1000 USD // 800-1350 CAD would be my sweet spot, don't have a fit budget but I want value for my money. Usage Gaming while having stuff in the background, I like to multitask so I usually have one/two games + chrome + movie at the same time. Games I play are all in 1080p and range from Battlefield 1, witcher 3 to League of legends and to eastern MMORPG's like Black Desert Online. I basicly play everything. Current Specs Aim I want this new build to hopefully last me for 4+ years as my current one has, so I don't want to cheap out. A quiet Mini-/Micro-ATX build is what I'm aiming for, don't play in running SLI or more than 4 drives so can't really tell why I would need a full size ATX, please explain if you think I need one. Key features: 16GB or more RAM Silent and preferably not water cooling Smaller computer = better Below 1000$ Good to have features: Case having front side USB 3.0 along with headphone and microphone jack Clean look of the case Having 6 or more USB ports in the back Having one USB-C Having 4 slots of RAM if going for 32 GB (it's cheaper) Good integrated sound card (TBH maybe all are good, don't know) I think that was everything I can point out! Full build examples are very much appreciated!
  25. Hi all - build is for a nice portable productivity PC (3D animation & rendering). Mild Overclocking of CPU may happen. Build will be happening in LA/USA, need to start later this week. I want it to be light and minimal for travel - with as few components and cables as possible: Ncase M1 (ordered) i7-7700K EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC (Does not require power supply cable! Nice!)
