  1. First things first, my build is in my signature. Just so you know what hardware I'm working with. It's also setup with an H150i AIO and all of the fans in the case were replaced with Noctua Chromax blacks. I recently picked up a Corsair Icue Nexus to hook up to my K70 Mk.2, it allowed me to add my CPU Load, CPU Temp and GPU Temp to a screen on my keyboard so I can monitor it in real time(really cool little device) which is super convenient for me as I don't have a secondary monitor(space limitations)at this time. I noticed upon getting it higher temps then I'd like to see and my CPU load being a little higher than it should be at idle, not terrible and definitely not high enough usage or temps to be concerned about. But definitely not where they should have been. And I had noticed the Noctua fans were louder than I thought they would be. I recently rebuilt my computer into a P500A - White(about 6 months ago) when I got my 3090 as it did not fit in my Meshify C. Having only used Noctuas a handful of times and not in my own computer I didn't know exactly how quiet they were supposed to be, they were quieter than my previous fans but not by as much as I thought, so I've been fairly neutral on how I've felt about them. I thought those issues were strange but didn't think anymore of it because while gaming the temps and usage were well within in normal metrics, besides dusting the computer out and disabling some startup programs and background apps I didn't do anything else. A few days later, I start playing Far Cry 6 on launch day, max settings, DXR enabled, and at 1440p 165hz. I noticed some issues, mainly a decent bit of stuttering and getting 50fps instead of the well over 60fps I should have been getting even with DXR enabled. Also had low FPS with DXR off. The games framerate was just random and well below what similar systems were getting. So I'm monitoring temps and usage, I try some other games to make sure I'm getting my normal framerates and everything looks about right with what I have gotten in the past. I run some stress tests and leave one running overnight. In the morning after turning off the test I notice my computer is not idle like it should be. Looking at the temps and load on my Nexus I see about 40% to 50% usage on CPU even though nothing in task manager is showing what is using it, and my GPU temps are in the high 60c range. Which at idle, and with nothing open neither of those should be where they are. So I start using the computer and try to figure out what's going on and it cools down and the CPU usage drops but not all the way back down to idle. I leave it alone again and once it's idle again it ramps back up. So I do a cleanup. I run disk cleanup, glary, adwcleaner, and then Malwarebytes which I have used for years and typically only use it when I think I need to. So adwcleaner finds a couple things of adware, I clean several GB of temp files off, but then Malwarebytes hit the jackpot. The only malicious file/files on my computer was a trojan.bitcoinminer called Sound Bass I don't know how it got there or where it came from and it had been on the computer since quite possibly even before I got my 3090 and I've had it for several months. I used Malwarebytes to quarantine and remove it. Computer runs leaps and bounds better, it's quieter, cooler, and the performance is much better. Far Cry 6 with max settings, DXR enabled, and at 1440p now runs at 80 to 85fps rock solid, and runs at 100 to 115fps with DXR disabled. My idle temps and load are back to normal and every single game I have ever played since getting the 3090 and kept track of has had the FPS be a lot better, the computer is almost dead silent now when not under load or even while gaming it's much quieter and I am now happy and in love with these fans. Upon checking the last time I had ran a Malwarebytes scan on the rig was a year and a half ago. So it's possibly been on there since then and I only noticed it now due to the Icue Nexus and Far Cry 6 not running as it should on my computer. I am now going to scan my computer once a week with Malwarebytes and do a full cleanup maybe a couple times a year. It just goes to show no matter how much you know about computers and how careful you are something could still get on there without you knowing. Remember to always scan your computer even if you don't think you need to, you could possibly have a freaking bitcoin miner on it without your knowledge lol. Has anyone else ran into a similar situation? I'm curious to know if bitcoinminer trojans are common.
  2. I had this idea and i don't know why no one approaching it so far, to fight the miners. Why don't the big companies force the vendors to do the following? 1- Vendors are not allowed to sell more than 1 GPU per person, for the same GPU series. 2- Vendors check the national ID of the buyer on the official website of Nvidia/ AMD. 3- it shows that you are not eligible to buy an RTX 3080 because your already bought one from another vendor, but you can have one from each other series. 4- Buyer agrees to buy an RTX 2070, Vendor insert it's serial number and the buyer's ID to the official website. 5- Buyer is no longer eligible to buy an RTX 3080 or RTX 2070 anymore from anywhere of the world. 6- Miners are in crises, they can't buy GPUs in bulks anymore. 7- Stocks are full again, shelves are filled, prices go back to it's normal state. 8- Gamers win, miners lose. so these idea i had for awhile, i want to know what's wrong with it, why is it not applicable or on the table?
  3. i need help with the nicehash miner when i try to go and install it on chrome all that happens is it starts downloading on the browser but then it just says cancelled and nothing else happens if anyone has any answers please help me
  4. Hello, Got a system build for mining that I would be paused for High-end gaming. AMD 1700 (AIO water cooled.) pushed to 3.9 2 580 Sapphire rx Nitro+ special. (The blue version.) The GPUS were bought 2nd hand from a Mining farm. 1 tops at 1440, the other doesn't make it past 1400 with out issues. Game is obviously no problem. I ran them in a test bed open air style for about a year getting about half what I paid for them (Random alt coins. trading and switching got stupid.) These cards are used to crunching numbers. Now I am verging on 1 million points a day. (I did upgrade my CPU to a 3rd gen Ryzen 5.) Just looking for that push past. Currently at 922799. Any settings for the 580's I could try? I played with BIOS quite a few times and wont accept any of those suggestions. (please don't suggest anything like that.) 18.*7* works best for compute 19-+ is all gaming based and crashes intently. Mostly memory and power limits is what I am hoping to try. Feel free to toss some R5 3600 settings out I get around 4.2 but the WU's don't seem to change in speed. So Ill try to push but GPU's are WELL burnt into a high heat processing and are work horses that could use some tweaks.
  5. I know a person who wanted a cheap GPU and he is wondering if he can buy a miner card with less ports for gaming? Has anyone here TRIED? Please do not say yes unless you know 100%!
  6. After Miners erased all RX xxx Cards from the German Market GTX 1070s and 1060s are starting to disappear aswell
  7. This is Operation: Open Air. This is a case/dual rig that because the ridiculous heat in Michigan recently and especially in the room of this machine is getting so hot that I needed to take these machines out of their natural habitat and migrate them into an open air case... Now I personally love open air mining rigs because the simplicity and I love the way computers internals look and a near sealed case removes the techy look to the components. So with both of those in mind (and also one rig Is meant for mining) I created this project and here's how it went. I had some random angle iron in the garage, marked it up, waited a week for my brother to finally cut them and then realized none of it was actually 90' and this would be the most frustrating build I've ever done. So drilling into this was a pain as the metal is so thicc and it doesn't like to be penetrated which eventually led me during the build process to be so angry I threw the entire thing across the garage and a beam went half way into a cardboard box... How inspiring. Eventually frustrated with the problem of wood splitting and the metal being so thicc and hard to work with I said screw it and moved to wooden pillars vs metal as it was relatively easier to work with. Now that it's (relatively) completed, I do like the way it turned out and that means I will be redoing the entire top portion of the case because it has many issues, there is a lot of sag and it's uneven the edges look terrible but other than that it's a great case. 8. I have a GeForce GTX 1660ti OC it’s the MSI gaming X and I’m only getting about 30-40 cents a day mining Bitcoin and I’m using salad how can I get more like is that it or can I use another software or mine another currency or what?
  9. Hi community! I'm from Vietnam and since the price of Bitcoin is getting lower everyday, many miners sell their graphics card at a very cheap price to invest in something else. I've managed to get in contact with a guy with his MSi GTX970 Twin Frozr which he games on it, not mining at all for around $215 - and the warranty expired too But I've also get in contact with a seller claims that he has 1060's (3GB VRAM) with various models for about the same price as the GTX970. He said that he bought them from some other guys who claimed have been using the card for 6 months but the seller not so sure if the cards had been used for mining or gaming. And the seller is giving me a warranty of 6 months - if 1 dies, he will give me another card. Which option should i choose. I suppose the 1060's were used for mining...
  10. I have a gtx 1080ti, and want to start mining monero. My question is, how do I do it with an Nvidia gpu? Everywhere I look all anything supports is amd. Nanopool has no CUDA option to my knowledge either. I'll apreciate any info I can get. Thanks
  11. Hi Everyone. After discovering I had quite a handful of some old external and internal HDDs lying around, I thought I'd be fun to set up a small Burstcoin Miner. Given how small my plots currently are and the value of the coin, i'm not expecting to make really any money off it, I'm honestly just curious to give it a go and see how it all works. After plotting my drives, I've been getting an error in the Miner which makes me think I've not properly set the system up. In the Miner window, I get this message "[Error 875573297] Account's reward recipient doesn't match the pool's". After some reading, I'm under the impression this is because I have not "activated" the account, or something to that effect. However, when I try to set the Reward Recipient through the local wallet, I get another error message "Rewardassignment did not succeed", and when attempted via the browser wallet; "{"errorDescription":"Unknown account","errorCode":5}. I also see that it costs one Burst to set a Reward Recipient, but I don't understand where I'm to get my first coin if I cant mine correctly yet. In either case I feel like there is something I'm missing here. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  12. I've been honing my windows defender triggers in the task scheduler and I noticed something that could be a problem. If you've set it to turn on at idle and turn off when you start using the computer again, that makes you susceptible to bugs that mine with your system without your permission. Like that bug that you'll get if you're foolish enough to use "The Pirate Bay". Since your CPU won't clock down and will effectively never idle if you have that bug, how is Windows Defender supposed to nuke it if it's set to not turn on unless the PC is at idle? So yea, if you have custom settings for Windows Defender in your task scheduler, you need to go and check to make sure that's not turned on. Start - type task scheduler - open it - expand the task scheduler library folder in the left menu - go to Microsoft - Windows - Windows Defender - double click on 1 of the 4 items in there - go to the conditions tab - and ensure that the top box is not checked - repeat the process for the rest of the 3 items in there.
  13. Okay okay firstly I want to clarify that I don't know what it is completely and I heard about it from someone/somewhere. It's a thrilling idea just to think that your web Host can mine coins for you. I need to know is there a slight chance of it being real? If yes, let me know how can I do it. It will definitely be a great thing. don't you think?
  14. I have just bought a palit 1060 6gb and havent touched anything to do with overclocking. When I am mining ethereum and only getting 2mh/s when I should be getting 20. Anyone know why and/or how to increase hashrate to 20 mh/s
  15. Hello forum. After watching a few videos by LTT recently on the efficiency of mining BTC in today's crytpo economy, I started to do some more research with a few friends into thr new 'alt'coins. For those not aware of this, these are new cryptocurrencies other than BTC and include everything from ETH to Dogecoin to the ScamCoins. Im not here today to lecture you on those. I'm here to try and gain some popularity for a certain miner of a new currency, "Skycoin" and maybe get recognised by the LTT staff to take a look at this. BTC currently is experiencing massive backlogging of transactions, slow speeds across the board and an ever increasing transaction fee. Skycoin technically hasn't even released their main product yet. Their own miners and mining software as shown bellow from a convention recently. The kick of this whole Skyminer/SkyCoin is the costs associated with the actual mining using these machines. It is around i saw somewhere 10% of the electricity cost of mining BTC. Now since LTT is looking into this, I think it would be beneficial for LTT to contact the management to get hold of one of these kits early and review it. I would love to see what LTT thinks of this and their review. As an added bonus, due to the way SkyCoins are implemented, this is a way to save Net Neutrality. I would encourage you guys to look into this and help try and get a review for these new tech Slyminers EDIT: If these become more mainstream then costs for miners will decrease big time and the need for GPUs for mining Crypto is nill. Lower prices for all us gamers and PC enthusiasts!
  16. I wanted you opinion and advice on doing this. I currently have an ethereum miner running on xubuntu and was curious if I could turn it into a NAS since it is already running 24/7. Do you think there would be any negative effect on the mining? What is a good software to use for my NAS i have both Windows and Mac devices at home id like it to connect to and Im planning on using plex media server on it as well? Any tips/advice would be appreciated.
  17. I have building a PC that has to mine 24/7 yet is powerful enough to game games like CS:GO and BF Hardline. The mining work though is on a http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp31-yukon-shipping-from-stock So technically it has to play games and I have a budget of $1700. Here is the list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/GhFCvK
  18. Are there such things as Litecoin version? I'm looking for some good used cheap graphics cards on eBay and some of the AMD cards say stuff like "Litecoin Version" or "Bitcoin Defect", and I don't understand.
  19. I wanted to create a low power bitcoin miner that would be fairly cheap to make. This made me decide to use my Raspberry Pi as a low power mini pc. For software I used MinePeon that is a miner designed for the Raspberry Pi and can be accessed from any PC by typing in the IP address in a web browser. Download it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/minepeon/files/latest/download?source=files. The next thing to think about was mining hardware. I decided to buy a block erupter that mines at about 333 MH/s. I got this for £13.50 ($22.47) from eBay. However these need to be powered by a powered usb hub as the Raspberry Pi does not output enough power from its USB ports. The hub I decided to get was a D-Link H7 Powered 7 Port USB Hub. This cost me about £20 ($33.29). This can power 5 block erupters and the Raspberry Pi itself. I now have a bitcoin mining rig that cost about $50 (as I already had the Raspberry Pi), I have this running 24/7 and earns me about 0.00005448 BTC per day. I am planning on getting 4 more block erupters to fill up the hub, increase my hashrate, to increase my revenue. Below are some photos of the rig:
  20. I have been running running GUI Miner to mine Litecoins when I am not using my computer, which has primarily been whilst sleeping and at school. I know there is a lot of time that I could be mining if I wasn't letting my computer idle when I forget to switch GUI Miner on. So I was wondering, is their any way to set a miner to start after 15 minutes of inactivity? I'm using Windows 7 by the way.

    Bitcoin miner virus

I have a bitcoin miner virus on my PC, i noticed it when i was playing Battlefield 3 and my FPS went from ~40 to ~25. And my virus scanner doesn't see the virus so i have to remove it manually. It's "a variant of MSIL/CoinMiner.FO"
  22. Hey! I'm new to litecoin mining and wanted to use cudaminer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167229.0). My Litecoinpool is LiteGuardian.com and it's pretty cool (thanks RuecanOnRails!). I did everything like on the liteguardian help page (https://www.liteguardian.com/gettingStarted), just wrote a little bat file. Both the proxy and the miner start but after some time the cudaminer.exe crashes and my miner also doesn't show up on the liteguardian monitoring page. Thanks for ideas. :-) EDIT: http://postimg.org/image/921isdjqf/
  23. So, I downloaded CUDA Miner, but something dawned upon me. I have no idea how the hell to use it. So, how do I start mining?
  24. Hi, I bought a gpu a few months ago and the seller on ebay included a usb miner. I don't have any use for it and would like to sell it back on ebay. I'm looking to you guys, bitcoin aficionados, for information on what I got in my hands and how much it's worth. I don't want to mislead anyone on ebay by giving a wrong model number or false information of any sort. So could anyone identify this, elaborate a bit on its specifications, tell me how I can test it to see if everything works and tell me how much I can get for it ? What is this weird contraption ? Thank you, http://s1189.photobucket.com/user/Virgule99/media/IMG_0025.jpg.html http://s1189.photobucket.com/user/Virgule99/media/IMG_0026.jpg.html
