I’m building a high end desktop for optical design and CAD work. Ray trace optical design is very memory intensive, so I need 256GB. My question is what is the real world difference between ECC and non-ECC RAM? I have been doing this type of work for a few years on an Intel x99 system and have only encountered BSD twice. Comments and suggestions appreciated. Basic build: MOBO: ASUS TRX40-XE CPU: Threadripper 3970X RAM: 256GB GPU: Quadra RTX 6000 Boot: Samsung 980 Pro 512GB Data: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB

I want to put a Threadripper 3970X into a mid tower case. I want a nice clean look so I want to use an AIO. This is going into an In Win S Box. I can install a 360mm, 280mm or a 240mm AIO. I’m much more concerned about performance (cooling capacity and low noise) than price. Any suggestions?

Hello All, I am currently rocking a NZXT Source 530 and in the future once all of my components have been upgraded I would like to look into getting a new case. I have taken a brief look around on Amazon, Scan and the likes but can't seem to find anything that particularly fits the things I am looking for. I would like to know if anyone has any hidden gems that fit my criteria which I have listed below: Must Haves: - Tempered Glass Side Panel - Metal Chassis (Not a Fan of Plastic cases) - Mid/Full tower to fit an ATX Board - Room for a 240mm AIO Rad - Preferably Top Mounted - Can fit a Gigabyte RTX2070 Super with Tri-Fan cooling. Would be nice but not crucial: - Black/Red Colour Scheme - Known Brand like NZXT (I really like their cases) - Has at least two places for a 120mm rad to be mounted (In case I wish to cool the GPU in the future) If it is of any assistance I have left my specs below: PC Specifications Case: NZXT - Source 530 Motherboard: ROG Z390-H Strix Gaming CPU: Intel - Core i5-9600k 3.7ghz RAM: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory GPU: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Windforce OC Video Card (Soon to be a 2070 Super) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100x AIO Water Cooler with Corsair SP120 120mm x2 Case Fans: Corsair AF120 120mm Fans x2, Corsair SP120 120mm x2 Power Supply: Corsair - Builder 600W HDD: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB SSD: Samsung 860 QVO 1TB SSD Operating System: Windows - 10 64bit Thanks for your help! Hey guys i would like to get your thoughts on this really interesting case. http://www.tecwareph.com/titan It is only readily available in asian countries as far as im aware. it goes for around USD$30 and has an insane feature set particularly for a budget case that i have not seen in other similarly priced cases. there is not much documentation on this case and not too many pics of builds in it, let alone ones that showcase its potential. Notable features: -2x 280mm radiator support on the top and front and 120mm in the back -PSU shroud that covers up HDD cage as well with rubber grommet for hd audio, usb and front panel connectors -rubber grommets on right of mobo tray -proper cutouts for cables top left and top centre with plenty of holes for both shorter atx and standard atx boards -pre installed standoffs (only 6 though) -ssd mounts 2 on the front of mobo tray 1 in the back -included 3x 120mm white fans -proper dust filters for psu, top and front intake -roomy cable management with 34mm of space or 1.5 inches -huge acrylic side panel -clean aesthetic -reusable pci brackets (a lot of budget cases use disposable ones) -2x usb 2.0, 2x usb 3.0 2x fan controllers would like to see what you guys think as i have not seen a case at this price with all these features that are mostly found in high end cases. it is not perfect but really awesome for the price. would you like to see this case in your region? apparently different brands have the same case under a different brand name https://www.pcper.com/reviews/Cases-and-Cooling/VIVO-Titan-Mid-Tower-Enclosure-Review

Can someone help me choose a case for my pc. I am looking to build a gaming pc this christmas and i was wondering what would be a good case for around £60 or under. Right now i am looking at the masterbox 5 but i don’t know if there is a better case.

I've recently been overclocking my fx-6300. Surprisingly the stock cooler has held up pretty well, despite numerous posts on forums that it wouldn't be good at all. I've been able to overclock to 3.8GHz stable, 3.9 will boot but crash soon after. My temps could be better, but for a stock cooler, I think they're pretty ok, but I might be wrong. The temps level out at 65C on AIDA64. Voltages I haven't messed with, I've left it at auto; but I suspect it's not actually changing it, which may be why it crashes? I don't really want to mess with the voltage until I have a cooler that can handle the higher temps better. I don't have a lot in the budget right now, so I was looking at the Hyper Evo 212. I want to get at least to 4.0GHz on my PC, I think the 212 should be able to handle that. The question is, can my case handle the cooler? This is my case. I've searched everywhere, but I can't find a definitive answer. Some say yes, some say no. I'd like to hear from somebody who maybe has experience with this case or one of the same width. This would be my first CPU cooler upgrade, so I'm quite the novice in this regard. If it can't be done, I'd like to hear from you guys what cooler might do the trick. I researched the Hyper T2, but I'm just not sure, as I've read some reviews saying the build quality was low and the fan was quite loud. Thanks in advance!

Hello i am currently using the Define R5 but i feel like the case is just too tight and i don't like the looks of it. So my plans for new year is installing everything into a new case but i need help choosing one since i am not really that high on cases. My requirements are: A mid tower thats bigger than Define R5. I really prefer having handles on it since i tend to move my rig alot. Custom water cooling potential. Good radiator space. Good airflow and cable management. Am i asking for too much for a mid tower case? should i consider getting a full tower and if so how big is it really? (i don't want to walk around with a server box). Feel free to post any cases you can think of. As i mentioned before i prefer having a mid tower case but if necessary ill upgrade into a full tower. Thank you alot!

Hi, I'm fresh new here. Just a quick question, can E-ATX motherboards fit into a Mid Tower (Cooler Master mt500mt) but also generally fit into a Mid Tower Case? Forgive this question being put into the wrong place. Thanks.

Hello guys I'm looking for case recommendations that are strictly under $200, Full Tower. My preferred places to buy is Amazon or Newegg, I plan to ship it internationally (Uruguay), so weight can change the price significantly, not that I don't mind paying a few extra bucks if the case is that good. As for the other components: I have no GPU decided yet, I currently have a 1060 that I'm planning to keep until a new AMD or Nvidia series comes out. I plan to get a i9-9900k and cool it with a NZXT X72 Kraken or similar 360mm radiator. I think this is the biggest requirement the case should support a 360mm radiator that's close enough to the CPU since the hose length is limited. For the motherboard I'm planning for a Gigabyte Aorus series, probably Pro or higher (They're all ATX sized except for the high tier one that I don't plan on getting). I already got a 2x16Gb DDR4-3000MHz G.Skill Ripjaws kit I got on an offer at Newegg. Currently own 2 regular SSDs and 2 regular HDDs. I was deciding on getting something like a Phanteks Enthoo Pro or Corsair 750D Airflow edition, but I'm open to suggestions. I don't really like RGB that much but if the case is good, I'm fine with it (as long as I can turn the lights off lmao).

I am trying to build a new PC to be used in a living room. The catch is that I would also like to make it a set piece which would be on display in an Ikea Besta frame. This means that the PC case would have to fit in a 56cm wide, 52cm height, 36cm depth space. My current plan is to go for an Antec P82 Flow case as it has a lot of mandatory features for this: 1. It fits. There is approximately 4cm of margin on the top, 10cm on the sides and 15cm in depth. 2. It has side I/Os which would remain usable. 3. It has a glass panel which is great for the set piece aspect. Here is what I plan to put inside of it: Asus Prime X570-P AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Corsair Hydro Series - H150i Pro RGB Corsair RM850x v2 Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Super Windforce OC 3X G.Skill Aegis DDR4 4 x 8 Go 3200 MHz Crucial MX500 500 Go There are a few things I am worried of: 1. As the Besta frame will cover 5 sides of the case, is there enough clearance for this thing not to overheat? The case does not seem to have any ventilation hole on the glass panel side so I am not sure the airflow will be good enough. It is possible to put some holes on the back of the frame but I would rather avoid doing that. Do you think it can work out? If not, do you have another case in mind which would work better? 2. I guess the AIO should be relatively quiet, but I am a bit worried about GPU noise as it will be next to a TV set. Any recommendation on a 2070 super model which can stay discrete when not pushed?

Hi All, I'm currently doing a new build, but am really struggling to find a premium case to go with. My current favourites are: Corsair 680X white MSI Sekira 500x Be Quiet Dark base pro 900. I prefer Full tower builds for unexpected expansion, however, mid towers are fine if they tick all the right boxes. I am really going for something aesthetic with plenty of RGB capabilities. Price point is around £200 +/- £50 I would really appreciate any suggestions/help. Cheers, PRDMKT.

Hey all, I run a lot of smaller local esports events, often which involves recording and/or live streaming on location and for the last few years I have been using an Ncase M2 case with an external capture card. The build is a bit dated, and being a mini-itx case, my upgrade options are not as abundant as I'd like. So I am building myself a new rig in about 6 weeks. I've linked my PC part picker list below for reference, its not 100% final yet, but really close. This will also be my primary gaming rig, which I will game and stream from simultaneously, as well as do a lot of video and data processing for my day job. My question here is that I am looking for a good quality mid tower case that will hold up well to regular travel. I tear down my setup and bring it with me at least once per week, sometimes 2-3 times in a single week depending on tournament schedules. I've currently picked out the Lian Li 011 Dynamic, but I wanted to get some input from you guys. How does tempered glass hold up to regular travel? Is in safe to use water cooled loops in a system that moves around a lot, or would I be better off with fan cooling? What is the best way to transport a larger system regularly? What cases would you recommend for this kind of use case? For reference, price isn't really a significant factor. Pretty much anything under $300 I am willing to consider if it meets my needs. Hello! I have a problem, i don't have enough space for my HDDs in my current Case, so i want to Upgrade, but i don't know which are the best ones for my Setup at around or under 50€/50$. My Setup consists of following copmontents: GPU: RTX 2080 FE CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3,9GHz CPU Cooler: Wraith Stock Cooler Mainboard: ASUS B350M-A RAM: 2 x 8GB DDR4 OC'ed @ 2800Mhz PSU: BeQuiet! System power 8 500 Watts HDDs: 1 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda, 1 x 1TB WD Blue, 1 x 2TB WD Black, 3 x 1TB WD Green (this is the tricky part.) The Case shouldn't be bigger than a Mid-Tower, should have "ok" Airflow, a Sitepanel w/ a Widnows is only optional, but would be nice. And of course it should fit in all of the Components. Thx for any Recoomendations!

Hey guys, It's been a couple years since I've been on the forum, and I wanted to start up a discussion! Recently, I've made the jump from a CM Hyper 212 EVO up to a custom loop. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well my cheap mid tower case was able to handle it! I was able to jam in a 360mm radiator, and I could easily fit a slim 280mm at the front if I ever get a GPU block. For a $50~ case, I'm very impressed by my SPEC-02. It's a case that I feel never got the attention it deserved by tech YouTubers in budget builds. It came with two front 140mm red LED fans, and a rear 120mm red LED fan (which all still run well after 3 years!). The fans are quiet and they move air like any other fan (though they certainly aren't Noctuas or anything fancy). Now that that little bit is out of the way, I'd like to get back on the topic of watercooling support. To get a 360mm to fit, I DID have to do some light modding of the case. I had to remove the rivets to remove the 5.25" drive bay cage, and I can no longer fit a 25mm rear fan, though I'm sure I could find a slim fan to fit back there if I really wanted to. I also decided to cut out a square in the top of the case so the 3rd fan had a vent. 15 minutes with a drill and a dremel (and a lot of help from my brother!) was all I needed to achieve this. Sure it may not look great, but my PC sits on my desk and I can't see the top while sitting. The radiator was a bit of a pain to mount since I went for push/ pull (my first time mounting a rad; annoying to line up the top of the case, the filters, the fans, and the rad). Thankfully, it's only about 5 screws to completely remove the top panel of the case, making this job much much easier. If you want to do push/ pull in this case, keep in mind RAM clearance is always an issue. My centre fan is right against my GSkill Ripjaws V sticks, so I wouldnt try if you have something like Dominator Platinums or Trident Z RAM. Again, only an issue for push/ pull. No problems with just push or just pull. Next, I had to mount the pump. Originally, I used a screw/ washer/ nut to hold it to the top of my drive cage, but I realized that my pump was opposite of how I wanted it (inlet was on the side, output went straight up). I fixed this by using the same screw/ washer/ nut to hold it to one of the intake fans. Not only did this fix the orientation, but I can swivel it and get to the pump speed controller if I ever need to. Yes there is a rock on my PSU. Sentimental bit for me As far as tubing, I had no issues making my runs. The rad output tube is longer than I would like, but I'm an idiot and can't undo the compression fitting on either end, so it just has to stay a little saggy. Also note I am not using a reservoir. This is mainly because I couldn't afford one. I would likely have to mount the res between the PSU and the drive cage if I ever get one though, or I'd have to ditch my push/ pull setup. If I were to add a GPU block to my loop, I would be able to add a front 280mm without any issues from what I can tell. A 30mm rad would likely fit in the space where the fans are now, though it'd be blowing heat right into my HDDs. The fans could go behind the front plastic cover as well, so it'd be no issue. If I had a shorter PSU, I could add another 120mm rad to the bottom of the case, and an externally mounted 120mm would work on the back thanks to the tubing passthroughs built into the case. Overall, I love this case, and I'd love to see it get more recognition as a great budget option. My only issue with the case is the side panel window. With it on, I can't see the pump or rad, and it is unfortunately tinted. As I don't have any lighting (besides the fans) in my case, I leave it off. With the lack of a rear exhaust fan, it's probably better for my GPU if I leave it off anyway. Hope you guys found this post helpful, or at the very least enjoyable to read. I'd love to see or hear about your guys' favorite budget cases! I'd also like to hear about your personal favorite budget cases that have great watercooling support!

Hi Everyone, [POSSIBLE NOOB QUESTION AHEAD] I am new to the pc building world, and I just built my first gaming rig! Anyway, I accidentally bought a 'Small form factor' power supply (corsair SF450) for my mid tower case. The only problem I have noticed so far is that the modular 24 pin cable is two inches too short for my Gigabyte B360M motherboard, but will there be any other possible problems with this psu? (I just bought a longer cable btw). The system only draws around 270 watts, with the i3 8100 and gtx 1050ti, so the 450W wattage shouldn't be a problem. I probably should have checked this before I built the PC, but for some reason it didn't occur to me that SF meant 'Small Form Factor'. Attached below are a couple of photos of my build, if that is any use (and yes I know my cable management is trash). Thanks in advance!!!
