Hello everyone, I recently finished building my new PC and while everything works pretty well, I am noticing some small but noticable stuttering in almost all games. I had already noticed it with my 3300x but since the problem continues with my 5600x, it seems like it is not coming from my CPU and I have no idea what could be the cause so I came here to ask for your help. But let's start with the specs : B550 Aorus Pro AC / Ryzen 5600x / 16GB Gskill 3600Mhz CAS 16 / RTX 3080 Asus TUF OC / Corsair rm750x / 860 Samsung SSDs x3 / 980 Pro Samsung NVME x1. I am using a 32GK850 LG monitor at 1440p/144hz with Gsync enabled. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are the performance numbers I get in each game after 10 min of monitoring with MSI Afterburner: SOTTR : Avg 143 / Max 144 / Min 90 / 1% Low 80 / 0.1% Low 73 AC Origins : Avg 120 / Max 144 / Min 93 / 1% Low 84 / 0.1% Low 63 AC Odyssey : Avg 101 / Max 144 / Min 64 / 1% Low 55 / 0.1% Low 30 Witcher 3 : Avg 143 / Max 144 / Min 116 / 1% Low 93 / 0.1% Low 29 RDR 2 : Avg 122 / Max 144 / Min 111 / 1% Low 54 / 0.1% Low 28 Jedi Fallen Order : Avg 132 / Max 142 / Min 113 / 1% Low 66 / 0.1% Low 11 Greedfall : Avg 135 / Max 144 / Min 110 / 1% Low 60 / 0.1% Low 25 WD Legion : Avg 72 / Max 85 / Min 67 / 1% Low 30 / 0.1% Low 30 Borderlands 3 : Avg 140 / Max 144 / Min 120 / 1% Low 90 / 0.1% Low 25 To summarize, SOTTR and AC Origins play super smooth but other games have very low 0.1% and 1% causing noticable stuttering. As for temperatures, my 5600x is not getting hotter than 68°C in games and benchmarks and my RTX 3080 isn't getting above 65°C. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So far, here are the things that I tried. - I first took care of the GPU, making sure that I was running default settings in games and NVIDIA panel. I also reinstalled drivers. All games have been tested with and without Gsync / Vsync. - I then had a look at the RAM in the BIOS. It is correctly running at 3600Mhz CAS 16, with XMP enabled. - As for the CPU and the MB, I upgraded to the most recent BIOS for Zen 3 before installing the 5600x and downloaded the new chipset update after installation. With this update, Ryzen power plans are gone and I tried both Windows balanced and high performance but didn't see any change. - My next thought was that it might be an issue with one of my SSDs but the issue is present on games regardless of the SSD they're installed on. - I also tried disabling some Windows features like the game mode or the Xbox bar. - Finally, I decided to try a clean Windows install but unfortunately, the stuttering didn't go away. I am starting to run out of ideas so I came here to ask for your help. Is there anything else that I can try? Thank you for taking the time to read this long post. Have a good day.

Hey guys, Old Gaming Rig CPU: i5-4690k MOBO: some GIGABYTE MICRO-ATX GPU: MSI 6GB 980ti Storage: 250gb Samsung EVO for OS, 1tb Seagate HDD , 2tb Barracuda HDD Memory: 16gb of DDR3 PSU: 700w Corsair GS700 i had this rig for around 3-4 years and everything was fine until i started experiencing some stuttering which i primarily noticed when i was gaming. The stutters seemed to happen once every 3-5 minutes and i remember them getting more intense around 2-3 months ago. Hardware Changed: I got tired of these stutters and decided to start changing some parts, my CPU was often at 100% usage when i was gaming and so i thought the stutters originated from this. So i purchased a Ryzen 3600x, an ASUS Prime x570-p, and 16gb of DDR4 G.Skill Trident Z. I also tried installing games from my HDD's to my SSD's to see if it was a HDD issue but the stutters also happened. I removed the 2 HDD's from my build entirely and am running with the 3 SSD's: 250gb evo, 120gb from amd, and 500gb Kingston. Once all parts were put in and functioning i started checking temps and tried gaming again and i quickly noticed the stutters had not gone away. I then went onto the next possible problem, my GPU. I bought a MSI 2070 8GB Armour and installed it in and tried gaming, and although my PC's overall performance greatly increased but the stutters are still happening every 2-3 minutes. New Gaming Rig: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x MOBO: ASUS Prime X570-P Ryzen 3 AM4 ATX GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Armour 8GB Storage: (same one as old build)250gb Samsung SSD, (same one as old build)120gb AMD Radeon 7 SSD, 500GB Kingston SSD Memory: G.Skill F4-3200C16D-16GTZR Trident Z 16gb 3200 MHz DDR4 PSU: SAME ONE AS OLD BUILD - 700 watt Corsair GS 700 Software Based Tests done/noticed: - Fully wiped each drive and reinstalled a clean version of windows and started everything anew 2 weeks before buying the new parts. - In the performance tab of Task Manager and on MSI Afterburner every time i experience one of these stutters i see i dip in the GPU usage. - Used HWmonitor, MSI afterburner, Core Temp to monitor my cpu and gpu temps to and it never goes above 70 degrees Celsius when gaming. - I have run numerous benchmarks/stresstests with 3Dmark to see any problems and no stutters appeared. - I used a samsung monitor software to stress test my SSD's with no problems detected. - I flashed my BIOS to get the newest version from the MOBO's website. - Updated Ryzen drivers, Chipset drivers. - Followed a lot of online forums which said to change certain settings in the Nvidia Control Panel, to change timers using CMD, to change cpu performance modes to 99% instead of 100. - Used Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode to uninstall drivers and install older drivers to no avail. What i think might be the issue So im considering changing my PSU because its literally the only part i haven't changed apart from my SSD's which i dont think are the problem because they seemed to pass the stresstests. I read somewhere that if the PSU isnt giving the gpu or other parts constant voltage or enough it can cause dips in the parts performance? However, i dont want to spend anymore money without a guaranteed fix because its been a pretty expensive past few weeks... hoping you guys can see something i haven't. Thanks for your help!!

Hi I recently purchased a 5700 xt. It was a good card but however i kept getting black screens and computer randomly restarting so i returned it (I read that might be a possibility since i use two monitors) 1: 4k Acer KG281K and 2: 1080P Acer . So I purchased a RTX 2080 and while thats fixed the issues above the performance has been less than i thought it would be given the price of the card. Every game i bring up says i should be using just about max settings 4K. Some games are fine but i keep getting constant stuttering and frame drops issues even when dropping the resolution down to 1440p and 1080p. I'm not entirely sure i think it might be the power the card is getting . I was originally using one of those 6pin/8pin power cables but i read some where that using two separate cables might fix the issue. Can someone confirm that that is the problem needing two separate power cables one for the six pin connector and one for the 8 pin connector ?? I will need to order another cable if thats the problem. I had one of those 4 pin molex connector cables and had a six pin adapter so i'm currently using that to see if that would sort fix the issue but not really. Specs below CPU: Ryzen 2700 (wraith spire cooler) GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2080 PSU: EVGA 600BQ RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz

As the title says, I'm getting micro-stuttering/stuttering in most of my games, in Chrome, most noticeably when scrolling and sometimes on my desktop? (When moving icons or windows around) I'll get well over 60fps in most titles, but the visuals are incredibly choppy and it makes accurately aiming/slow tracking almost impossible, especially in first-person shooters. I'll leave a video example or two down below. Here are my specs: Motherboard: Asus ROG M7F CPU: i7 4790k stock GPU: ASUS STRIX 980 Ti 6GB Memory: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 Storage: PNY 240GB SSD / Seagate Barracuda 2TB PSU: EVGA 1000G 80+ Gold OS: Windows 10 Pro BIOS version: American Megatrends Inc. 2601, 2015-03-26 And some generic 60hz 1080p monitor from Acer I've tried clean-installing windows on both my SSD and HDD, and using DDU to remove and fresh install drivers to no avail. I ran MemTest86 for a good few hours until completion and there were no errors whatsoever. I got this processor and motherboard used from a gentleman a few blocks away, and he has overclocked this processor to around 4.6-4.8ghz I believe? If this were to be the cause of my problems, I have no idea how to diagnose it, same things goes for my GPU. I had initially run Ungine's Heaven 4.0 and got good scores, as well as Prime95 with no problems when i initially got the CPU/Mobo. I'm really hoping that after almost 2 months of problems someone here will be able help me fix this. Thank you! I just built a brand new computer (everything but the 3TB drive is brand new) with the following. Gigabyte GA-Z270-UD3. Be Quiet! Shadow Rock LP Core I7 7700k Corsair Vengeance LPX 1x8GB 2400 EVGA GTX 1080 SC WD Black 256GB NVMe SSD Seagate 3TB 7200RPM Windows 10 Pro, Creators Update EVGA 650 BQ 650Watt I am getting TERRIBLE stuttering in every game, including Ghost Recon Wildlands, Halo 5 Forge, America's Army Proving Grounds, CSGO, etc, literally every game. It's so bad it's unplayable, even though the frame rate shows over 100fps, in general. I am on all newest drivers, newest motherboard firmware. Just not sure what to do Anyone have any ideas?

Hey all. I've done as much research as I can on this before I go insane. I've tried a lot of solutions online but no avail yet. The earliest I can remember this happening was on the release of RE2 Remake. I remember noticing microstutters occurring during certain parts of the game. Initially I went out and got a new SSD to remedy this, but it didn't fix the problem. I chalked it up to outdated hardware and ignored it. However recently, I've been lucky enough to completely gut and basically rebuild my PC. It's been brought up to high end spec very comfortably, however I've noticed more and more microstutters throughout my experience. One such instance is still RE2. I noticed going through certain doorways, such as the one below the Chief's office saferoom, causes the game to stutter, maybe only for the first time going through that area. It lead me to believe this was potentially a RAM issue (loading new assets going into new area) but double checking XMP is on, upping RAM voltage, and even getting a further 16GB sticks didn't solve the issue. I even ran the windows memory tester and it came back with no errors. This remains constant with stutters occurring when things are maybe written to RAM (it always occurs with area changes / the game loading new parts of the map). Mordhau is another culprit. Other users of Mordhau have reported stutters as well, and seems to be an Unreal issue to some extent, however among my friends I am the only one experiencing the issue. Just during gameplay, small stutters are pretty common. I think the more people on a server (I usually play duels with 10-20 people) the more it takes place. I have not found a 100% reason for this yet. I have also tested this in very briefly in Witcher 3. I only got one stutter, but I did not move far from my initial position. The stutter occurred while moving, and I'm assuming it is again when new LOD assets are getting ready (I'm not very well versed on how this all works I'm just trying to guess). Apex Legends shows similar behavior. During times where I'm not really moving around the map, game is fine. Doing a lot of movement to other parts of the map usually follows some stutters. The only causality I can see represented is my GPU will dip when the stutter occurs. (First 2 dips https://i.imgur.com/vQogEmc.png) CPU, RAM usage, disk usage are all normal and stable. CPU not capping out. So I'll list some of the things that I've tried, and my hardware below here. XMP checked on RAM downclocked to 2400 from 2666 RAM voltage increased to 1.30v Old RAM sticks taken out, tested with only 2 new (of same brand/type) Clean Windows install Upgrade to 1903 insider build of Windows Switching games to different drives MSI Afterburner power monitor off MSI Afterburner disabled Power plan high performance Nvidia set to prefer performance Free Standby Memory script HPET on and off (Does not seem to change on 1809, nvidia forum thread also mirrors this, not checked on 1903) All hardware reseated twice (went through 2 new cases) New PSU Hardware (From Speccy) Operating System Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (1903) CPU Intel Core i7 8700 @ 3.20GHz (Corsair H70 Cooler) 36 °C (This has auto turbo boost, usually at 4.3GHz, does not bottleneck) Coffee Lake 14nm Technology RAM 32.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1329MHz (16-18-18-39) (4x 8GB Hyper X, for some reason is not detected. Task Manager still shows 32GB available, as well as CPUz confirming dual channel and correct speed of 2666hz) Motherboard ASRock H370 Pro4 (CPUSocket) 41 °C Graphics 24G1WG4 (1920x1080@120Hz) 24G1WG4 (1920x1080@120Hz) 4095MB NVIDIA Aurous GeForce RTX 2080 OC (Gigabyte) 54 °C (Overclocked from factory) Storage 111GB Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB (SATA (SSD)) 35 °C (Original with system, windows SSD) 447GB KINGSTON SA400S37480G (SATA-2 (SSD)) 34 °C 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164 (SATA) 32 °C (Original with system) PSU 750W EVGA Modular Audio Realtek High Definition Audio The 2 drives are the only original parts left in the system. I've tried looking as deep as I can into the internet with my pretty decent troubleshooting skills and I just can't come up with a solution, and it's really bumming me out because I know it's just not how it's meant to be working. So any help would be massively appreciated for this guys, thank you for reading.

I changed my ASUS GTX 1070 OC to the new RTX 2070 Super OC and now my PUBG is micro stuttering and im having high cpu usage.I have updated to the Newest BIOS(was also having same problem with the same bios the 1070 was on), Fresh install of Windows 10,all newest drivers, hwinfo showing max 65c cpu temp. Also my cpu clocks where 4.9ghz and they dropped to 4.68ghz, now i have 5ghz manual overclock. Also tried FPS capping to 165/160/144 What the screen inputs,no differencePc specs:Intel 9700k@5ghzMSI MPG Z390 GAMING PLUSCorsair 2x8GB CMK8GX4M1D3000C16 MemoryAsus RTX 2070 Super OC strixNZXT X62 Kraken as coolerAll of the Power cables i have Triple checked and they are in the right places, GPU has two Separate powercables as some1 hinted. While i was changing GPU i changed my 10 Year old Chieftec PSU to new Corsair RM750X for extra safety.

Will I get microstuttering or something similar if i paired Ryzen 5 2600X (or OC 2600) with RTX 2080 or GTX 1080Ti on FullHD with 144 Hz monitor? I know, i will get some bottleneck from processor, but this will maybe fix some new games with better (more difficult on graphics) graphics.

Every now and then my computer will start micro-stuttering. It stutters almost every 300-500ms exact. Mouse movements, key strokes, windows dragging, all that stuff freezes for a brief moment then jumps to where it should be. Audio never lags out. It occurs most frequently when I launch NZXT Cam or when playing PSO2. When it occurs in PSO2 it ALWAYS begins right after a load screen, never during game play itself. I have never had this occur in any other game or software. I have troubleshot a lot over the past few days and what I have discovered is below. My original post was in OS section but I guess that wasn't the correct one now that I have looked around more. My specs are: Windows 10 Pro x64 Aorus Master z390 i7 9900k @5.0GHz 4x8GB Gskill Trident @ 3600MHz EVGA 980ti When my stuttering occurs there are a few threads that get pinned higher than others under System. This lasts for about 30minutes. Rebooting does not solve the issue, only time does. The stuttering is graphical by nature only. No audio lags. I have tried to get the problem to show up running onboard video only, and it has never appeared. I have done an xperf and looked into that and discovered 2 stacks that are prevalent during the spikes: nvlddmkm.sys and ntoskrnl.exe. here is a zoomed in look at one of the stutters. I really don't know what I am looking at. This occurs of a fresh windows install. Is my gcard subtly failing? I have done DDU, tried previous versions of nvidia drivers, tried windows 10 1904 and 2004. I will happily provide the ETL which was recorded over 15 seconds.

Hey everybody, this needs to be news: Are you considering buying an nvidia optimus discrete graphics card laptop?! You've seen a few youtube reviews or read a few articles and think you're all set, as we did..., you might be in for the nasty surprise we were in for! An already large and growing number of optimus laptops (1050, 1050ti, 1060, 1070 + intel integrated graphics) showcase micro-stuttering and momentary freezing when starting up applications, when clicking the right mouse button, or when changing certain win10 settings, and I'm talking about new laptops, yes, the ones you're considering purchasing! There is a microsoft forum complaints thread that's already got: 14293 views 46 pages new people complaining every single day no official fixes from nobody - nvidia, intel, microsoft Anyways, a small community formed around us people plagued by this issue, and we're trying to get the attention of tech news outlets, tech forums, youtube tech guys, anyone that can bring this to light. Because outside of forums nobody is talking about these stuttering freezing laptops, and this needs to change, people needs to avoid them and nvidia, intel and microsoft need to fix them ASAP. Check out the microsoft forum (i'll link it below) or google "intel + nvidia laptop freeze problem", check out on the microsoft forum results. Although there's tons of complaints on other platforms, on nvidia forums, intel forums and so on. This affects all brands and all makes so it's not manufacturer or price point dependent, so I think it's worth looking into, if you wanna purchase or if you're already affected or if you know someone who's considering an nvidia driven laptop. Almost all nvidia discrete graphics card laptops feature the optimus technology and it's kind of a lottery whether or not you'll be affected, better get documented. Also, if you can - twitter about it, send mails to tech news outlets, I dunno, get the attention of the man himself - Linus, help us out! More details on the microsoft page for everyone. Here it is: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/mobile-gtx-1060-freeze-problem/93e7004a-62b1-4211-8e37-4c136608865e

Hi all I have recently begun to experience frequent microstutters in online games, although I only have a single player campaign in battlefield 1 I have tested this exhaustively and have found no instances of micro stutter in the game. However, in battlefield 1 and PUBG I have experienced micro stutters when running or walking in which I am set around one quarter of a second back from where I was when the micro stutter occurred, at a complete standstill, this happens every 2 seconds on average, but it fluctuates with the longest intervals being ~5 seconds and the shortest being ~2 times per second, however, curiously this has not happened in vehicles or when standing still even though in one match I drove a pickup for ~5 minutes. However, I am still certain that this issue is an issue with my networking as it has only happened in online modes. As mentioned this issue was also present in battlefield 1, except for in the single player campaign, however, I did not test this as extensively. Note, I am running two separate power line adapter systems in my house, however, they are both encrypted and therefore should not interfere with each other, I have been using this setup for a little under a month and other than some issues in setup it has not had any issues up to this point

Hi There! I am having an issue with my PC where all games run very poorly in windowed or fullscreen-windowed mode. Fullscreen games runs at normal 144hz maximum. If I have any motion on my second monitor, my Main GPU will not be able to be utilized 100%, and I get microstuttering like crazy That motion can be a GIF, a youtube video, or a smily face on skype that winks. I got a second monitor, so i like running in fullscreen-windowed mode to more easily do stuff while respawning or waiting in games. Main monitor has g-sync and runs at 2560x1440@144hz Second monitor is 1440x2560@60hz GPU: 980ti CPU: i7 3770k@ 4.8Ghz Ram: 16GB 2200Mhz Storage: 2x SSD's in Raid-0 OS: Win10 x64 Ent Tried adding a second gpu (750ti) to run monitor 2, but didn't help any, other than to remove screen tearing on monitor 2. Tried removing my CPU overclock, but no difference Last week I reinstalled windows to see if that helped, but I am getting the same issues. If I remove the second monitor, and have motion in the background of the game (on my main monitor) , I dont have an issue. If I keep the second monitor, and have motion in the background of the second monitor (different browser tab), I dont have an issue. basically, I get bad performance if Anything is moving on my second monitor. Video with Example here: The Video shows that my FPS drops from 144fps max, to Random around 100fps when there is any motion on the second monitor. Ignore the 30fps, as that is when the Game is not focused on the PC. while in game, the GPU usage will drop from 99%, to 60-80%. It microstutters in both Menu and while in game. Currently using Driver: 368.95 Anyone got any ideas to what i can try?

Hello! Please , read whole text before you reply. And sorry for my weak English! So, since ive builded my own gaming PC about 6 months ago ive been expirience terrible microstuttering in almost all games i play (mostly new ones) despite high fps. Ive said ''since ive builded'' , why? Because , just as ive builded my gaming pc ive tested it for the first time with the game ''Dying light'' and it worked just perfect , no microstuttering at all , it was actually very smooth with very high fps on my 60hz monitor. I was really happy with my build , the only thing i was missing is HDD (i was running on SDD only with 120gb). So , finally ive collected money to get me a HDD. When i got and installed HDD in PC ive decided to reinstall windows 8.1 , i wanted to make it fresh after installing an new HDD (even if my build was only about one week old) So after installing a windows 8.1 everything went to hell. I was testing Dying Light and had a terrible stuttering which make game playable but not enjoyable, even if i had very high fps (around 80-90). The only thing that would stop stuttering it was V-sync but that was not an option for me as introduce input lag and it feels akward. So , ive figured out it might be a game , maybe developers messed up something with an update. So ive tested an Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline (which was even worst). Then i got GTA IV which was even worst than ''Dying Light'' and Battlefield. The only game that was working well i remember it was '' Alien isolation''. Ive tested a many many games and almost everyone have that stuttering. Never managed to fix the problem but ive learned that i might be dealing with ''Microstuttering'' . I've also learned that a 144hz monitor may help me to get rid of it. So i bought one ''Asus vg248qe'' 144hz. Microstutter improved alot. Atleast 60% of microstuttering were gone. Now games feels more enjoyable but still im not happy with it. Unfortunatley that 40% of microstuttering left is still alot. Currently im playing The witcher 3 and im not happy at all with the performance. Games still stuttering (just more less) despite my high fps and 144hz monitor and refresh rate (which ive configured in control panel). V-sync is not an option. Things that i did to remove stuttering with no luck: - Changed drivers - Changed from 8.1 to windows 7 & 10 - Upgraded RAM memory from 8GB to 16GB - Overclocked / Downclocked GPU - Overclocked CPU - Removed HDD and reinstalled Windows - Tried different settings in Nvidia Control Panel - Caped fps at almost all possible framerates And many other things that i cant really remember all of them. Please do you know what should be a problem here? Im preparing to order new GPU to see if that fixes problem. (I don't know which forum to put this) Hi! I've got terrible microstuttering in games and I have no idea how to fix it. It all started last summer, when I got this PC, I didn't build it myself. I downloaded steam and CS:GO, was going to try the PC, how much FPS compared to the older one etc, it was a big difference. So anyways, after a little while I started to experience small 1 millisecond lags which I didn't care about that much, now it's started to become more and more of a problem, I recently, like 1 week ago, replaced a stock CPU cooler and RAM. My current specs are: Windows 10 Home 64-bit Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz 4x 4GB Crucial DDR3 CL9 1600MHz Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. X58A-UD3R (1366 Socket) 2GB Geforce GTX 660 Ti (3 Monitors plugged in, one 144hz, one 75Hz and one 60Hz) 7 (Yes, 7) HDDs 2TB each 1SSD 128GB I have money for upgrading almost about anything, but the CPU and motherboard. ~A worried gamer, aka StickaN
