I have hated Microsoft browsers since I first started using computers back in school. Now I am seeing Microsoft trying to force Edge down user's throats. Even after I have made Chrome my default Browser on 10 Edge is still used when opening certain links and programs. On my new PC with Windows 11 I know this sort of crap will only going to get worse.

Hello I have already searched the interwebz a couple of times now without any luck but maybe anyone here knows; Does anyone know or have an extension that makes the bookmark/favorite bar show / dropdown when you mouseover it? I want it because it maximizes the space available on websites and I DO NOT like the fullscreen mode when browsing. Microsoft Edge / Chrome extension

Summary Windows 11 makes it even harder to use anything but Edge: Quotes My thoughts It's been long enough for Microsoft to forget why people hated Internet Explorer. Maybe someone will make an automated tool for this? (Psst, Firefox's "Set as Default" is just exactly that, it doesn't require any extra clicking.) Edge browser tells me that my settings are ''Managed by your organization'', and my browser doesn't give me any website search suggestions from history. I suspect I need to re-enable these two policies: AutofillAddressEnabled false SearchSuggestEnabled false But I don't know how to do that. Any advice?

Hi everyone, I have recently been using Microsoft edge as my main web browser and then I have recently switched to chrome. I was just wondering if any particular web browser consumes more battery power over long use times. As a personal preference, I would prefer chrome as it is easier to use over Microsoft edge because I have noticed a better web browsing experience ever since I have switched to chrome.

First of all, I don't use Edge, but from 16 Sept MicrosoftEdgeCP.EXE is crashing. I cant see any dialogue box, but I can see the crash report in Reliability Monitor. I don't know what is the problem. Does anyone know about this? Thanks in advance. -
I was wondering what the differences between Chrome and Firefox are mainly in terms of privacy and security. Might sound stupid but I read somewhere a while back (sorry, can't remember the source) that Google Chrome has a ton of trackers built in to the browser itself, aside from the one's websites use on their own. I'm asking only in terms of the "stock browsers", no third party plug-ins to block tracking, etc. Mainly focused on Firefox and Chrome (and Edge, kinda), but I'd be glad to hear about any other browsers. I referred to a few articles before this (linked below) but they didn't go into too much detail so if anyone has any additional information it would be great. PCWorld Article TNHONLINE Article Hope the question makes sense, it's my first time here.

So here's the deal: Got an "old" laptop (Sony VAIO Duo 13) from my father a coupe days ago. It had some Chinese programs installed and I removed them all. Went on configuring my browsers (Microsoft edge, Chrome) and removed baidu.com from settings and added some sites to favorites. After restating browser every time baidu.com resets changes search engine, browser settings, and startup tabs to baidu.com. I tried removing "spigot" folder and used CCleaner but still doesn't work. Plz help. It annoying to type addresses and passwords every time.

Probably a stupid question that has been asked and answered somewhere else, but what clock is featured in the latest video, "Microsoft Edge: WAY Better Battery Life! - $h!t Manufacturers Say Ep4" (See attached screenshot)? If you know what it is, a US Amazon link would also be appreciated. Thank you

What is the main distinguishing factor of PlayReady DRM from others? Also, what is the difference between Microsoft's PlayReady DRM and Google's Widevine DRM? Can both stream 4K media?

Recently out of curiosity I tried Microsoft Edge for the phone, and it's actually really really good. I especially love the reading mode that's built in. I'd really like for some of y'all to try it out, it's not bad, I like it better then chrome for the phone. Also try reading mode on fanfiction.net, sites like it where you constantly have to load pages for the next chapter or actual page is where it becomes a god send for me, because not only does it block ads, change the theme to whatever your browser theme is (dark or light), it loads all of the chapter/pages at once into one big scroll, yes you can tell when it's a new chapter though, which is great So seriously, try it out ^^ (also Linus or anyone who sees this for lmg try it out? It'd be amazing ^^)

I guess Microsoft moving over to Chromium for their browser is a Net benefit. They are trying to bake things better for their own browser which in turns makes things better for lots of browsers. Sweet! Learn more here: https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2019/10/15/form-controls-microsoft-edge-chromium/#fiIIxFxb518xr3ZD.97

Hi everyone. Okay so, I can say that I have pretty good gaming laptop, can run good games with enough fps for me and that is all okay but.. When I open any browser, while gaming, for idk surfing or listening to songs on youtube it is reaaaaaally slow like it takes 5 minutes to open google search, play the song(which lags every 2 seconds and you cant even listen to that), etc Same problem is if I try to open something from steam overlay Games are all good and it never lags.. so if I play games I can only play games.. if I want to see someting on browser I have to quit the game because if I dont I cant open any site or anything I have 12 gb ram I7 7700hq proc Nvidia geforce 1050 4gb Hdd 1gb Ssd 120gb with windows 10 installed on it EDIT: I just figured out that it doesnt lag only when Im playing games.. I was updating warframe and tried to listen to songs but I got the same lags like when Im playing a game EDIT 2: This is my internet speed while and after downloading warframe update.. (0.46mbps) was while downloading the update

I was doing homework at home with my fiance when she started complaining at her laptop for being slow. I asked her if she wanted me to take a look at it and she showed me what was going on. She just had Google Chrome open with just three tabs doing homework as well. The first thing I noticed was that it took a few seconds for the laptop to recognize any click or any action, the second thing I noticed was how high her fan speed was. I opened up her task manager and after a while it was able to pull up. Task Manager showed Windows Edge was running in the background with 97 sub-tasks within the application. It was taking up about 45% of her cpu and a large amount of her storage/ram. I after a few seconds we were able to highlight it and have the task ended. After it was ended I switched to the performance tab which took a little longer. When the screen loaded it showed a huge drop in ram and then a quick climb back to roughly 80% capacity. Went back to the processes tab and Windows Edge was back again. It looked like every time we tried to shut it down it opened right back up due to the amount of ram it was dropping when it was shut down and the amount it was taking up when it was running. We decided to restart her computer normally. It restarted just fine and when she logged in Google Chrome came up with her tabs but there was a 4th one opened, a Windows help page. This is the link to the web page it pulled up https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hub/4338813/windows-help?us=windows-10&os=windows-10 I have never seen Microsoft Edge do this before and was confused why it was taking up so much cpu and ram. The web page it pulled up made me think Microsoft was updating Windows through Edge. If anyone knows what's up it would be appreciated because apparently this happens often for her computer. Thanks!

Now hold on let me speak, I know I know Microsoft edge is not as good as chrome but I use it for my laptop and it is actually a pretty alright browser it has a really nice clean an minimalistic look, loads fast and hardly takes up any screen space for menus etc. Right to my issue, edge comes with a speed dial type functionality but it only has 8 tabs and isn't very customisable and I need more than that. You probably wont of heard of the Browser I use on my desktop but IHMO it's the best browser out there, it's called Maxthon and I use an early version of it as the new version has a horrible look anyway it comes with a really great speed dial home page that's fully customisable and has as many links as you need. I tried to find an extension for edge for speed dial but couldn't find any so if you have or know of such an extension I'd appreciate you pointing me in the direction of it.

It will make it easier for the user to add support for unsupported media formats, so they can focus more on other things and get the formats supported sooner. It will act similar to browser extensions. Source I'm glad that Edge is supporting more media formats and I hope this will greatly speed up the time to it takes to implement media formats. For those who use Edge and want to install it https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/web-media-extensions/9n5tdp8vcmhs?rtc=1

Hi everyone (°w°)/" I've been using my mother's laptop for about a week now and I'm having a rather weird problem I can't pinpoint the cause of... The computer has quite high specs for a non-gaming, non-editing setup, 8GB RAM and an AMD A8-7410 APU. The system was bought brand new around may of this year, if not even later. So, my mother uses Firefox and I use Edge and we've been both noticing that the PC, while running flawlessly on some sites, gets horribly slow and even stuck for 20-30s sometimes on others, and it's not because of RAM or CPU load. Examples of sites where it runs perfectly: > YouTube > Facebook > maggiesensei.com Examples of sites where it turns incredibly slow: > jisho.org > Libero Mail > sometimes, Google Oddly enough, it seems the PC is more "keen" to get stuck on sites that are less taxing, like dictionaries and news sites rather than games and multimedia. I consider myself "somewhat tech savvy" although not an expert in the matter, and I've been trying to figure this out for days to no avail... It's my belief that the problem somehow revolves around text input since I have severe difficulty typing in both Jisho and the Libero Mail service, but for example on YouTube I can type without any hindrance at all, so that makes it even more confusing. Could it be a browser extension even on two different browsers? I know the amount of information I'm giving might be a bit low, but can anyone give me any help on what might be the problem, or on how to troubleshoot it? Thank you in advance ^^ EDIT: It seems like Mozilla, both in safe and standard mode has the same problem and keeps giving an error message about a script in the page not working properly, which is something I don't know much about. How can I pinpoint the type of script that's having an issue?

Does anyone know any good ad-blockers for Microsoft Edge?

Really surprised, but Microsoft Edge supports Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. Neither Firefox or Chrome do. So, right now you can watch the apple event on a windows 10 machine with Microsoft Edge. I just found this kinda interesting.

Joe Belfiore, a product marketer recently spoke to Brian Tong, a senior editor from Cnet.com, at Build 2015 about Windows 10 and "Project Spartan." First things first, "Project Spartan" got a new name, Microsoft Edge, as it is being called by Belfiore. Is going to be an attempt at replacing Internet Explorer, but you already know that. New features include Cortana integration that looks a whole lot better than what I was expecting, the ability to draw on webpages and save them to OneNote, and the ability to add extensions. In my opinion Cortana looks better than ever, whether it be bringing up information on a business when you are on their website, or putting weather information in your search bar just by typing weather, it looks amazing, the functionality will lessen the amount of tabs open, save time, and never interrupt you if you prefer not to use it. The whole OneNote thing just stops you from using MS Paint as often, when you need to save a webpage's screen. The major item is the ability to add extensions as you would in Chrome or Firefox. This will level the playing field on browsers significantly, especially seeing as Edge will come preinstalled on every Windows machine. Personally, I will stick with Chrome, but it is still exciting to see Microsoft try and make something new. http://www.cnet.com/products/microsoft-edge/ http://www.cnet.com/news/new-features-shown-on-windows-10/

I did a quick browser test between Edge and Chrome to see how Edge is performing right now compared to the competition. Tests http://peacekeeper.futuremark.com/ http://www.speed-battle.com/speedtest_e.php http://html5test.com/ What is your conclusion from the tests ran?

Hey everyone, so I recently got my version of windows 10 installed, about a week ago, and I mostly watch shows online like YuGiOh, Avatar, and other old shows. I recently remembered that a show that went off air during the fall started again at the beginning of June, so I went to watch it on one of the cartoon sites we all use. My problem is the pop ups, the ones that open up before a video and will never close. In my old browsers such as internet explorer or google chrome I would just go to task manager and close it, then just open up the browser again and not restore the session. Here's the big issue, every time you open Microsoft edge it opens every tab that you left open when you last closed it, and since I have a glitched popup tab that I can't close and makes it impossible to switch to any other tab, I can't even use Microsoft edge anymore. If anybody knows how to fix this, I would love to hear from you. Thanks for any help you can provide.
