So I just bought Metro Exodus for my PC today. The games by itself is about 60GB, which is way too big for my almost full 500GB SSD. My hard drive has 1TB of storage, but it's 5400RPM. Will Metro run fine on such a slow hard drive, or will the games studder horribly?

so I am playing metro exodus through game pass on pc and I have been having constant crashes, to the point where its nearly unplayable. After a lot of troubleshooting I have came to the conclusion that I need to change it to DX11 from DX12 to fix it. However there is no option to do so in the game settings. How do I change it to DX11?

I am pretty much new to pc gaming, but my first pc less than a month ago and recently started playing the metro games through Xbox game pass on my pc. Started with 2033 and I could play for an hour or a couple hours at a time before it would crash the computer to to my desktop and I had to restart the game. After I beat it I moved to last light and same story. Made it like 3/4 through the game and I decided I was gonna work out why its crashing and fix it. I downloaded DDu and did a clean install of the latest version of my gpu drivers, Aswell as my chipset drivers. And now I literally cannot even get to the loading scene of the game, let alone even the main menu before it just freezes and I have to restart my computer. I ran exodus, gears 4 & 5, final fantasy 14, 3DMark, unigine heaven and valley all at max settings with no issues whatsoever but metro last light redux crashes on startup. I've heard from other people that having Physx on is what was causing issues for them. I had it on at first even though I have an AMD gpu(5700xt red devil) bc I didn't know it was an nvida thing at first. I can't even get to the menu to change it though. I have also reinstalled the game twice on both my hard drive and ssd. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this? Its infuriating. For the past few months, I noticed that my Windows 10 apps (I don't know if they're still referred to as "Metro Apps" but that's what I'm talking about) were starting to disappear. If I recall correctly, it started with the Groove Music app, a couple others, and eventually the Windows 10 App Store just disappeared. It wasn't too much of an issue because I almost never used the Windows 10 App Store anyways and all of my other Metro Apps still worked. The strange thing about these disappearances is that I was able to find other ways to find the application's launcher and I tried launching the application from there, but they wouldn't launch. Fast forward to today. I'm playing TERA, a Steam game. The game crashes (like it sometimes does) and when it does, I restart my computer because TERA doesn't always work again after restarting it. At this point I press and hold the power button to manually shut it off (I don't remember what prompted me to do so) and I reboot the machine. As it was booting, it decided that it would be a good idea to scan the hard drive for any issues. I wait for it to complete and sign back in and start playing TERA again. The game's freezing for a few seconds every few seconds so I decide to restart TERA again. After the game's closed, I leave my computer on the desktop for about 5 minutes while I play around with my phone and I suddenly get a Blue Screen of Death. The stop code was "THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER". This "THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER" issue appears to be easily resolved through either BIOS/UEFI updates, Windows Update or driver updates and seems to be most common with AMD/ATi graphics drivers (see system specs below). During the Blue Screen of Death, I decided I'd just manually restart the computer before it's finished collecting the error information (I think I powered my computer off when it was about 35-40% complete), an action which I wish I had not done, though I'm not sure if it's what caused the issue I'm about to describe. I restart my computer again and log in normally. I decide that I will run a full system scan with Kaspersky and have it go while I'm sleeping, so I decided that I would go and make sure that my computer would not go to sleep after a certain period of time. That's when I discovered my Start Menu was completely empty - no Metro Apps, no desktop shortcuts, nothing. Searching for these apps yields no results besides Internet results, indicating that they cannot be found on the hard drive. I also noticed that the Windows Settings app is also gone. Searching for it also yields absolutely zero results and I cannot get it launched. I still have access to the old Windows Control Panel, but as some of us know, a lot of these options were moved to the Windows Settings app and others link to the Windows Settings app. They moved Windows Update to this Settings app and now that it's suddenly gone, so I have no access to Windows Update. I restarted my computer and there's still nothing. My computer is otherwise usable, but the lack of Windows Update and other tools presents a significant problem. I'm hoping to get this issue resolved without reinstalling Windows. The computer in question is an HP laptop with an AMD A10-4600M CPU, AMD Radeon HD 7660G integrated graphics with AMD Radeon HD 7670M dedicated graphics. I've had issues with the preloaded HP software in the past (including other stuff you wouldn't otherwise know exists through normal means) so I'm wondering if this may be a cause. I'm sure there are other things that could cause this too. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? EDIT: I just discovered that I can access the full Settings application by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting "Personalize" or "Change Display Settings". The Settings app opens and otherwise appears functional; however, its behaviour is weird. It does not show up in the Task Bar or Windows Task View and it doesn't have the Settings icon in the Windows Task Manager. Instead, it has the icon that's used when a shortcut or icon is missing. Right-clicking its process also does not give me any options to minimize, maximize or bring forward options like most other applications have. I decided to have Windows Update check for updates and it appears that it has discovered a few. These updates are, in order: Cumulative update for Windows 10 version 1607 for x64-based systems (KB3197954) Update for Windows 10 version 1607 for x64-based systems (KB3199986) Security update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 version 1607 for x64-based systems (KB3201860) It says it's downloading the updates, but it's been sitting at 7% for a little while now. I'm wondering if it will even continue to download them. However, once they download (if they do) I will install them and see what, if anything, happens or changes.

I enjoy using both OS X and Windows for different things. Currently, I have Mavericks installed on my Mac and Windows 8.1 on my PC. The reason I haven't upgraded either of those is that I just cannot stand how flat the newer operating systems look. For OS X - The looks of Yosemite and beyond just totally destroyed everything I enjoyed about OS X visually. I love the subtle gradients on the buttons and icons on Mavericks, and even the taskbar just has this nice roundness to it that's really pleasant to look at. It looks really professional, elegant, and almost kind of polished, at least in my opinion. The newer OS's have this cartoony vibe that I just cannot stand behind. I think the dark mode thing is alright, but everything from the icons to the system text, to the plasticky transparent glassish vibe just makes it feel like an ugly phone OS on a computer. For Windows - My dislike for Windows 10 is mostly a color and shape thing. It just seems like a mix of dark colors with some highlights, and then just squared-off edges on seriously everything. Plus it just feels so washed out with just white and grey on some areas, especially on the taskbar and the minimize buttons and all that. The lack of vibrancy in the colors just makes it feel super dull and uninspiring to me, and I know a bunch of people would probably disagree with me on this, but I much prefer the brighter colors and vibrance that was shown on Windows 8. It made the OS more of a delight to use, and was more inviting and bright to look at. Windows 7 and 8 also both had some lovely, subtle gradients that were really nice, another thing missing from 10. It's kind of not important, but especially with the newer versions of OS X, I don't enjoy feeling like I'm falling behind in the past with an older OS, especially with certain programs and stuff that will only run on newer OS's. But at the same time, I would hate to upgrade to say Sierra, but then hate how it looks to the point where I just don't enjoy using it. Kind of a petty rant, but does anyone here share this sentiment with either OS's? I remember when Yosemite came out I wasn't totally alone on the whole "Yosemite is ugly thing," but I didn't know if most people have gotten over that or not.

Hi everyone! I've been having issues with Asus dual rtx 2070 card. I possibly have found a solution, but am looking for confirmation. The pc also has a liquid cooled (with corsair h60) i7-9700k, 16gb 2133 ram, rog strix z370-i mb, M.2 ssd, 600w psu. Nothing overclocked, xmp turned on. So when I play metro exodus the stuttering and jittering is non stop with anything below extreme but frame rates are really good. I have found that if I set my settings to extreme with shader rate at 4.0 it stops but frame rate is awful (as expected). Then when the whole pc warms up and graphics cards warms up I can turn down the settings to recommended and the game runs smooth as silk. So this is more of a suggestion for anyone having these same issues and wondering if this works for anyone else or if there is some explanation as to why this works.

I have a GTX 1070 and a 144Hz monitor, so my setup is capable of playing this game at more than 100 fps. Why does it when I max out all the settings I only get 45fps. I can only go up to 2x SSAA and get 60fps. It must be some line of code in game files that doesn't allow high fps.. Can somebody help me please?

Hey I have just got Windows 8.1 and have started to get all of my programs installed. On the metro start the tiles seem to lock to 4 small tiles in a row. Is there any way of making small tiles go 1 wide and just down. Hopefully this image below should help describe what I am looking for. Thanks

I have the metro UI disabled almost entirely in windows 8, but I want to REMOVE it. I've looked in the windows folder and system32. There is a folder named startscreen but there isn't anything in there that would run it, just a couple reg files that have to do with windows help. Any thoughts as to where it might be hiding?

I bought the 290x by XFX recently and i've been testing it out recently. I am getting worried because I am NOT getting close to what other people get with their setups. For example, on BF4 people will be getting up to 90FPS, however I hover around at 60. On the Metro Last Light Benchmark at x16 AA, Very High quality (highest), no motion blur, normal tessellation, and DirectX11 I get an AVG of 45FPS. Most get at least 60. I have no idea what's going on, I have 16GB of DDr3 ram at 1333mhz and a FX-8120 clocked to 3.6ghz.

So since it was released i've heard nothing but hate and frustration over windows 8. Seriously I have zero problems with it, it performs well, and it's smooth to use. I don't necessarily use the Metro UI but you don't even have to?!

Hey I was unable to get in on the free metro 2033 giveaway that humble bundle was doing, so I was wondering if anyone would be a bro and help me out. If you have an extra key that you are willing to give to me, that would me awesome. I've always wanted to play the metro series, but I was unable to get in on any sales, or other things had got in the way. I love horror games, I've played ones like Dead Space 1 & 2, Outlast, and Killing floor, just to name a few. And from the bits and peaces that I have seen of Metro 2033, I think I would rely like it, and maybe even play it through multiple times. Just for reading this, I thank you. If you have any questions please ask, I will try to respond with anything I can Here is something just for fun: http://buymelaughs.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Funny-Babies-Pictures-6.jpg

Hello everyone, I really want to buy this poster https://www.etsy.com/listing/201387542/metro-2033-video-game-poster-wall-decor? , but i need appx. 15 more $$ to buy it. Does anybody have any Ideas or have been in the same situation as me? (wanting something, but having just too little money to get it) I am 15, and in school, so I only have weekends to do stuff. Thanks!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdKd_z2_ymQ Can anyone confirm? I do have my Windows 7 disk as I legitimately bought one when it came out, this apparently removes ALL metro (charms, EVERYTHING) and bring back the COMPLETELY ORIGINAL start menu/button on Windows 7. Too good to be true?

Which interface do you prefer? I'm talking interface. Not the OS, not the kernel, not the features, not the experience, not the support. Strictly interface. How many of you stay classic, how many of you have to go modern, no matter what? Personally I love Aero. It looks sophisticated, not flashy, and is customizable. I think ModernUI is a step back, but it might be just my opinion. I'd love to hear from you guys!

Probably one of the best news I've heard in a while alongside Crytek hiring a Linux developer. http://steamforlinux.com/?q=en/node/314 http://www.polygon.com/2013/8/13/4616750/metro-last-light-may-see-linux-release For those naysayers who say Linux isn't a gaming platform - it's becoming one. Still in its infancy, but it's gaining Steam. (hehe, pun <3).
