Just wanted to share my worst experience with a computer store, my recent experience with Memory Express, as well as hear other people's worsts. I've never really had bad experiences at computer stores as well as Memory Express in the past. I usually buy something, it works, end of story. But recently I had a really bad experience, that I think would make for a funny story. I wanted a Aorus RTX 2070 Super for my new build (currently around 950 CAD after tax). Online ordering from Memory Express was the only place that had the card in stock at the time, so I went a head and ordered it (May 5th). The card arrived on the 9th, got it put in my build and everything seemed fine, but didn't really get a chance to set up my new computer as I was busy. So on the weekend of the 22nd, I finally had time to set everything up, and started playing with the cards RGB lighting. It was then I noticed for a section of the heat sink, the light shined through it funny. On closer inspection, a set of the heat sinks just barely hidden by the shroud was pretty bent and even mangled to some extent. Naturally I didn't want a product that I just bought pretty much have damages on it out of the box, especially when I paid almost $1000 for it. I contacted Memory Express by email for a RMA with photo's attached to see what can be done (they aren't talking calls, and I didn't really want to go in person with all that's happening with COVID-19). They were extreme responsive at first replying within like an hour, offered to investigate, and ask me to send them more photos of the like the box, and the shipping packaging. Seems like where were trying to pin the blame on the courier, but after they realized that the boxes were in good condition, they pretty much ghosted me (Or maybe they just suddenly became really busy very very suddenly, who knows...?). Now we are at the good part of the story! After not getting a reply for more than one whole day, I decided to go to the store in person the next day, in case they really did ghost me. And I know it's been past the 7 days for return/exchange policy, but I tried my luck and plain asked for an exchange. I was then greeted by the women that I was in contact with through email. She very defensive and condescending, and said the damaged was caused by user handling, which pretty much meant she said I caused it. I told her I didn't cause it, and that it was under the shroud, so I can't even touch it. She then said it was caused by squeezing the shroud too hard, but her logic was wrong. I told her that I never squeezed it like that, and plastic doesn't bend like that in the first place. I'm not an expert on how plastics and materials bend and deform, but I don't think I am completely stupid on the matter either. (FYI, when I got the chance to, after I got home, I squeezed the shroud in every location possible, and it will hit an undamaged section of the heat sinks first always!) After that she basically went full forensics detective on me, started talking about how the metal of heat sinks bend and when in to metallurgy (yes, she literally used the word "metallurgy" on me), and even went on comparing the metal of the heat sink to the metal of an aircraft. I am no professional on these subjects, but do I have an Engineering degree, and have designed numerous industrial steel structures, but here I am getting lectured in Memory Express by one of their employees on metallurgy and aircraft engineering. She tried to use lots of technical Jargon, but her logic completely flawed. I tried to tell her that, but she kept interrupting me and telling me that "It has been concluded that the damaged was caused by user handling", "We are not talking about this anymore.", and "There is nothing we can do for you." At one point I even challenged her to squeeze it and show me how it would bend those heat sinks, but she wouldn't have it. We argued for about an hour or so with it going absolutely nowhere. She did some where near the end offered to help send the product to the manufacture, while also stating "Physical damaged won't be covered". I obviously rejected that, as to who knows if she is able to, or will, forward her false conclusions to the manufacture as well. Also I don't want to be without a video card that long. That's pretty much when I left. I was trying my luck on an exchange, hoping for store credit, but was excepting an offer to facilitate something with the manufacture (like what they are suppose to do). But I didn't expect to get a free lecture on metallurgy and aircraft engineering. I hope somebody out here gets a kick out of my bad experience, at least then there is a positive to this.

Hello everyone, I've been watching Linus's videos for a little while now and just now found he has a forum. I've decided to FINALLY upgrade to a better PC (currently on a 2011 SONY VAIO all-in-one). A store that's nearby is called Memory Express, a Canadian chain that sells computers, and I found this on their website when comparing part prices, http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX66947 . It's around the same price I was willing to spend for a new PC, but the most important thing to me is that I'll be able to run games at the highest settings (which I don't doubt), but also that it'll be a lasting investment. Essentially, do you see this PC still being decently usable in the next half-decade? Thanks.

Amazon.ca is usually overpriced and doesn't have the stock/product that I am looking for, mainly an mini-ITX motherboard for AMD. I mean it has some, but when looking at american sites, the selection is not the same. Same goes for memory express, and I don't want to shop on ebay. Newegg, I also find, lacking, as almost everything is out of stock, and overpriced. Are there other retailers that we are choosing up here?

I was just wondering if anybody has used memory express' price match feature and has any good or bad experiences to share. I was thinking about trying it to help minimize shipping costs and confusion with multiple packages for a pc that I'm building. Other opinions are also welcome. Thanks in advance!
