Has anyone ever tried building a custom pc where entirety of case is a giant heat sink? Something like on this poorly photoshopped picture. I tried looking and didn't find anything like that. Would something like that even work or just be a waste of metals?

This build is dumb and I am dumb for making it, but I've owned a 9590FX since 2014 and I really, really wanted to finally finish building something with it, so I spent far more money than I should have in order to realize my younger self's dream 8 core PC. I salvaged the RAM from my last computer who died an unfortunate capacitor related death as well as the 3 HDDs who store all my samples, old song ideas, and a moderately dank Steam library. Currently waiting on some Molex to fan connectors to arrive so I can hook up my water loop and at least see if it can run Crysis or not. Even though the main purpose of this machine will be audio production, graphic design, and 1080p video editing. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ And if you're wondering why I chose a 590 that's right, because it had the numbers "9" and "5" in the name for full meme value. This thing is going to get bottlenecked so hard, but luckily the 590 is a nice enough card that when I decide to build another PC in 5 years this thing will still be moderately relevant. My old Gpu was a 660ti and I could have technically run this system with it, but I needed full meme value for this stupid build. It'll be running Windows 7 pro as I don't care to let Microsoft spy on me and I'm never hooking it up to the Internet after the initial driver downloads/updates anyway. I know DX12 is cool and the boot times are faster, but Windows 8 made me hate Microsoft (I smashed a laptop in rage) and the obscene data collection and bloatware of 10 didn't do them any favors either. Even if I'm going to be always offline anyway. I learned to fix PCs on Vista/ME/7 so I'm just going full nostalgia with this build. For additional cooling I will be setting a 32" box fan right next to the open case when in use and only putting the side panel on when not in use as this computer will be in a separate room from me when I'm using it (because recording) so noise-and to some extent, heat-is not a concern. I will be using the SSD as a boot drive and to hold my DAW+samples while the 1TB HDD is for holding recording and graphics, the 1st 320GB is for my game's library, and the 2nd is for holding a backup of the initial SSD. If I decide to ever sink more money in to this stupid thing I'll be replacing the HDD's with SSDs to run in RAID 10 for the only performance increase I could possibly care about.

This is the start of a long term project, (it might take me two years or so). So what am I doing? - I am building a machine with 27 separate gpu's (I am counting my on board graphics as 1) all running on 1 PC ( 1 CPU and 1 MOBO). How on earth do I intend to do that? - Its surprisingly easy with a Asus B250 Mining Expert i can fit 13 graphics cars as long as i mix AMD and Nvidia. 13 card + 1 IGPU is 14 not 27 Right? - Ah yes my friend, but i am not putting normal cards in this nightmare, or even vaguely new cards no i intend to go to a lang long forsaken by our corporate overlords, The Dual GPU Card. 13 Dual GPU Cards !? - Yep. Really !!??? - Yes Sir. But Why on earth would I do that !!!!??? - Because I don't think any one else has, Because i think it will be funny to work with, Because the MOBO was bought from a friend stupid cheap and finally because i like collecting old hardware especially Dual GPU cards. So how does the build look right now? - bit are on order currently Specs as of 19/02/2020 - i3-7350k - Asus B250 Mining Expert - Cooler master Hyper 212 evo - 8gb Crucial Ballistic sport 2666mhz - PNY 240gb ssd - Tosiba 3tb HDD - Corsair RMi 1000 (this is only the first power supply more will come) - Thermaltake Core p3 (until there are too many cards and power supplys to fit, then i will build something custom) Graphics cards so far - Nvidia GTX295 Disclaimers - Yes i know its stupid and probably a wastes of money - Yes i know it will suck in games - Yes i know it won't be particularly good for anything else - If your new to custom PC's this is pretty much the opposite of the right way to do things P.S. The "meme build" 1KW of non modular power for a P4 and a GeForce 8600! So im calling this the meme build because i recently got my hands on a non modular 1KW PSU and then all my builds broke and i looked in my clauset and saw an LGA 775 motherboard with a chip with no name so i was like "sure, lets cry a but less and have some fun!" so i went to work! I had all this stuff laying around basically, but the GPU is a pretty new aquiry, bought it for €5 because the cooler is just amazing(i had to put away my hate for ASUS for this one, like come on its just amazing ) and the PSU is also fairly new for me, aparently has some coilwhine but i never booted this machine because other shit came up and i had to take the GPU for some testing with Northern Bee and havent put it back in. The build is all built and documented though because i kind of felt i should have a "how to build a computer" thing documented or something So lets get into the specs: CPU: Unknown LGA775 chip GPU: ASUS Lets Game GeForce 8600 RAM: 2x512mb Sammy 2x512mb Kingston DDR memory because RAM is exepnsive ya know! PSU: OCZ Z1000 1KW non modular pice of dank, 80+ gold but more like titanium actiually Motherboard: some ATX thing from a Fujitsu machine CPU Cooler: Scythe Big Shuriken 2B HDD: WD RaptorX 10k RPM 150GB, another just amazing thing Case: Cooler Master Elite 344u So, onto the build pictures: It was an extremely easy build, the only problem was installing the cooler because i didnt read the instructions all the way through so what i had a problem with was done extremely easely if you just did it like they told you The front case fan was also a right pain to mount, idk if you are suposed to thread the threads with the screws but thats what i had to do, and it wasent great tbh. never had to install a case fan with screws before, always used some of those Noctua rubber anti vibration mounts that i got with my Noctua industrial fans that got taken from me and swapped for some shitty Lian Li case fans but thats another story, one of selling the LAN PC lol. Build turned out pretty enjoyable, its not pretty or anything but its hilarious, 1000W of PSU thats 95+% efficient at every load for a damn Pentium 4(i think, could be a Celeron for all i know), 2GB of RAM and a GeForce 8600 is just silly and then a 10k rpm SATA disk ontop of that just makes this build dank memes The case is utter garbage build wise, but hey at least the airflow is better than most things put out by the big bois in 2017! I would have gone with a diffrent cooler if i had had one, this one is suposed to go on the Toaster to bring down that 80C load temp a bit when the case is closed but for now the Toaster has its GPU in Northern Bee and the OS is screwed up and the SSD dead. This is just a random build i put togetherer so i hope someone enjoyed it a bit at least, i sure had fun building it at least!
