I just bought this keyboard (Microsoft Wired600 ANB-00030) thinking that black letters on white keys may have better visibility than the other way around. However, I didn't open it because I think I'll have to return it. The keyboard is indeed white, but it appears to also have white letters! Or at least that's how it's pictured in the box (see pic). The Amazon picture was low res and blurry so I couldn't make out the letters (on closer inspection they may have been white all along). I looked at the pictures submitted by the clients though, and every single one of their keyboards has black (or at least dark grey) letters, none of them is white on white. I did a google search but it's hard to find specific info. Does anybody happen to have any knowledge about this keyboard? Is it really all white? EDIT: I opened the box and it turned out that the letters are black (although, it's more of a dark grey on light grey situation rather than a black on white one, the contrast is not as good as I hoped it to be). I have no idea why they picture the letters white in the box and in the promotion material.

My job went full remote so my family members are quite annoyed with my keyboard so I need something more silent(Old logitech membrane keyboard but boi it is loud I don't notice with my headphones). TBH I'm not picky writer so as long as it has some space for wristrest I'm ok. Membrane is welcome .

Hello there. So my Alienware 13 R3's backspace and backslash keys stopped working. I tried blowing some air there and cleaning some stuff from underneath with a soft brush but nothing helped. Then I tried removing the keycap to see what's the problem from inside. I'm posting links to a video showing that even pressing the rubber dome itself doesn't activate the key, and an image of the key itself in more detail. I cannot find anything specific that seems wrong... video image Can I fix this somehow or do I have to buy a whole new keyboard? Cheers!

gaming keyboards Good Membrane Keyboard without number pad?

Hi I cannot find a decent TKL Membrane Gaming Keyboard? I found some but returned them because the Trust GXT 833 Thado had Keycaps that weren't as good as they looked on the picture and felt like sandpaper which would make my skin itchy & sore and the JL Comfurni Gaming Keyboard was very loud for a Membrane Keyboard and had a very long delay and I looked at others but they looked as bad as the GXT but blockier. Best TKL Membrane Keyboard I currently own is the Roccat SOVA but that's a Lapboard so not good for work and desk gaming. Would be cool if Roccat, Steelseries, Razer or Corsair did a TKL Membrane version of their Keyboards but strangely none of them ever thought about it yet. I tried Mechanical Keyboards both High & Low-Profile but did not get along well with them and Membrane feels just right for me. I'll probably read into these methods if can't get a good TKL Membrane Gaming Keyboard. I haven't read anything in the 2 links yet as bit busy revamping a room and assembling some new things like a new desk and chair and other things at the moment. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Removing+Numerical+Keypad/5993 https://www.wikihow.com/Cut-the-Number-Pad-off-a-Keyboard- 5 replies

Hello, I am looking for a good membrane keyboard on low to mid budget, no need for mechanical. I have tried a few but none were the one. The keyboard should have: -dedicated calculator button (I am an engineer so I use it a lot), -number pad, -print screen button, can not be a function key, -Caps lock and num lock indication light is a must ( I have Logitech K235 now and never knew that some keyboards don't have that), -no short left shift (very annoying) -Enter key must be full size or horizontal long, no thin vertical (also very annoying) -wireless (Bluetooth or dongle, doesn't matter). wired is also acceptable, but prefer wireless -illuminated keys is nice to have but not a must, -prefer slim and small as space on my desk is prime real-estate -media and other shortcut buttons is a nice to have I have been looking for a quite some time and just can't find the "one" I tried Microsoft 600, generic dell KB216 (wired and wireless versions), Logitech K235 (currently using), steelseries apex raw, other generic keyboards. Out of the ones i used liked microsoft for keys, but it is wired, steelseries for all programable buttons, which I used in engineering software quite a lot, but the keyboard is way to big, and wasn't very nice to type on. and dell wireless option of there generic keyboard (I think ASUS has the same keyboard) but lack of additional calculator and print screen buttons were not great. Also i sometimes game, so if latency was low it would be nice. budget about 30-70$, but if the keyboard is really worth it, I can do more expensive. (I have looked at Logitech MX keys, but left shift and enter keys are bothering me). Thanks in advance

Almost die try to find a simple keyboard that feel like laptop keyboard, chiclet scissors switch, membrane silent, and backlit just enough to not getting blind in the dark room, just like a laptop.. mostly end up with deathstalker chroma but very hard to find, most of them just ask me to buy cynosa chroma, which is both actually far away from what i need or afford. i dont need too fancy stuff, even for mouse i go for m331 in the end. silent to me is very important.

Is there a huge difference between mechanical and membrane keyboards? Almost everyone I've heard says mechanical keyboards are so much better, but there are plenty of membrane keyboards with really good reviews such as the razer cynosa chroma. i was thinking of getting that one bc i really like rgb and everything, but im wondering if spending some extra money for a mechanical keyboard will give me a competitive edge. Thanks!

Is Cooler Master's 'Mem-Chanical' worth it? I've seen a few videos and reviews and I still don't know whether if buy one or not. Mechanical keyboards are quite expensive in my country, the average price is $150 USD. Since I read about Cooler Master's 'Mem-Chanical' I investigated a little bit about it, but I can't decide whether if buy one of those or keep my money and wait for buying a mechanical keyboard. Here, the Devastator II is around $75 USD and the Masterkeys Lite L around $100 USD, does it worth it? Or should I keep my money and wait foy buying a better one? By the way, I just bought a PC gamer but I only have an old membrane keyboard, it's almost impossible to game with that.

Hey, all. I got this old IBM-8930 a few days ago now, and I love it. It's older than I am, built like a tank and has no outward damage. Got it from a friend of mine in a sealed box. The box had seen better days but the insides were as they were supposed to. Typing this on it. To the problem. The bottom two keys specifically the Windows and control key on the left side are not working. The control feels fine with a good feedback but fails to register. The windows key is worse, it pushes down like a linear switch and gives no feedback even when it bottoms out. What I have tried: Cleaned it outwardly by removing the keycaps and dusting it off. Tried to get it to register by pushing the membrane down without the cap. The caps don't show any signs of damage at all and are the same as all the others. I need some repair advice as it is a membrane and I haven't ever repaired something this old. RANT: OMG this thing is amazing. India has a problem of things being lower quality than standard with lots of import duty. I noticed this on a Europe trip and my best guess would be that the assembly is gutted before import to save on duties. Keyboards in India have no steel backplates, the entire body is plastic, and is of generally low quality. Thanks

My Razer Blackwidow is 2 yrs old and the keys are broken, some keys are really hard to press it needs extra force to make the letter pop-up, im planning to buy a razer deathstalker essential but the keys are so flat so im asking if does that really bother on someones gaming performance.

So I'm in search of a white led, backlit membrane keyboard with standard key layout. I don't want extra or programmable keys. It can be any color as long as it is not mechanical. I know it's a weird query, but I hate hate hate mechanical switches. Any suggestions?

So I would like to buy a new gaming keyboard to replace my logitech k120 and i don't know which one between the k55 and the g213 is the best. anyone knows te differences? type of membrane, activation force/speed/time? thanks

Can anyone tell me where I could get a USB keyboard with the same layout as the T510? I love this keyboard and find it to better (layout wise) than most others. There is one on amazon for $500 but I don't want it that badly. Thank you in advance.

A month ago I found a Microsoft multimedia keyboard from ~2000 or 2001 that belonged to my uncle then aunt, this is not a USB keyboard, even though it has media functions like volume up/down, pause/play, mute etc. It was filthier than in the picture when I first took it, I used a vacuum before taking the picture, that's how dirty it was, I washed the top plate in the sink to clean it .

Hey guys, So I know that at this point the mechanical vs membrane isn't even a question anymore, but I have an issue here; since I'm really bad at choosing one thing between two, I came here in hope to find help. So I've been looking around for a good keyboard under 50€, and on Amazon I've found a Cooler Master Masterkeys Lite L Combo at 46€ (used, very good conditions, minor scratches); but then I found a fully RGB and mechanical keyboard (Trust GXT 890) at 45€. I have no idea what to choose. The Lite L comes with a mouse (which I don't really need now but may come in handy in the future) but the Trust is mechanical (Otemu Red switches) and comes with driver support and software for macros and addressable RGB. Please help!!!

So I will start off saying: I spent like almost half of my young life on cheap laptops. And with those laptops, came cheap keyboards. Typical, cheap, 3mm or so travel, membrane or whatever the heck keyboards. I got really used to them, and soon I will be building my first desktop PC, that will have to have, some sort of keyboard. I couldn't really find any type of keyboard that would be similar to what I'm used to on amazon Italy (And I will order only from there, for many reasons), but there are some Drevo mechanical keyboards, which I'm really interested in, because of tight desk space and their 75% layout with mainly Blue, Black, Red and Brown (outemu I think) switches. Now, I am really skeptical about mechanical: I know there are testers, but that seems pointless to me, especially considering I'm on a tight budget. I am considering 2 switches mainly right now: Blues and Browns. Mainly, I do lots of writing, but at the same time, lots of gaming. I also live in a pretty small house with my parents and my brother and all, so noise is of concern (yet the door will always be closed when using the keyboard), yet I REALLY love the sound of blue switches. So, main question: how loud exactly are blues? Are they silent enough not to disturb people 20 meters away behind 1 closed door, even late at night with total silence everywhere? Are the browns quieter? Or should I just ignore mechanical, and search for a low profile membrane such as Razer Deathstalker and similar? Also, how heavy are the keys to press, can I comfortably rest my fingers on the keys without them sagging down or even actuating under the bare weight of a finger? Many thanks in advance to whom is willing to take the time to answer so many questions.)

(EDIT:At the price of those may have another good options at your country, but in Brazil at the price range of R$ 250 {and with numpad} those seems the better ones) I pretend using them mostly for gaming, but i don't know the differences between a mechanical and a membrane keyboard, besides that i've heard that mechanical keyboards lasts long and are more sensitive,so help me please ? . Thanks for the attention!

Greetings, (for all the "why on earth you dont want a mechanical one" stuff i'll reserve you a spoiler block at bottom of the post ) i'm looking for a new keyboard to replace my definitely way too much old one (it has ps2, and not for performance over usb, just because usb didn't yet exist). I would like to get something of a good quality, but looking around it seems like noone is making any good quality membrane keyboards. My current keyboard despite being a membrane one doesn't have all the "problems" i read people speaking about. It's old, still works perfecly, no problems about the membrane ruining with usage as many say. The point is, all i read makes me scared, because i don't know what's the extent of mechanical fans overexaggerating membrane downsides, and what is actually construction quality getting worse now compared to the past; but for all i read around it seems like membrane keyboards suck so much you'd have to get a new one within 5 years. That said, what i need: a good, solid membrane keyboard. Rgb backlighting is not required, i don't mind if it's there or not. Fancy remapping software is even less useful, i'd just make a .ahk script for that. What i really care about is overall build and materials quality (chinese plastic vs lego plastic difference for example), possibly with easy to remove keycaps for cleaning, which most membrane keyboards lack. Possibly no key ghosting over arrows and wasd keys. Keyboard with european (in particular italian) format. Most european formats are similar, and could be achieved by just swapping keycaps. The point here is the right side enter shape and keys placement. Full keyboard with numpad. That's it, open to suggestions now, thanks! ___________________________________________________________________ For the disgusted mechanical fans out there:

Hi, My reasonably old Razer Arctosa is giving up on me, have no idea what brands are good keyboard wise, so I would love any recommendations towards where to look for a replacement. Some comments to possibly help with recommendations is I prefer a all black, non RGB keyboard with the numpad and a possibly simplistic shape as I would like my rig to stand out not my keyboard. Also is it worth switching towards mechanical as typing on this keyboard is a pain. sorry forgot to note id be using a UK QWERTY setup

Hi all! I recently bought the rosewill fusion c40 "gaming" keyboard & mouse combo, but i've run into an issue using them for gaming; i mostly play survival/craft games like ark, pixark, minecraft, 7d2d, etc. where a major mechanic is often holding e or another key to bring up radial menus. my problem with the new keyboard is that when i hold e, for example to lock a door, it doesn't input a hold signal, but seems to tremolo the key. instead of "eeeeeeeeeeee" it inputs "e-e-e-e-e-e" is there anything i can do to fix this, or do i just have to give my beautiful, highly responsive, new keyboard to my girlfriend & buy a new one? money is really tight for me, so i bought this for myself as a birthday gift after using crappy backup perifs for almost a year, so you can see how i am disappointed with the results... i'd really like to solve this with software if possible.

Hey guys this is Austi... JK it's my first post. There has been a hype around Mechanical keyboards and custom mechanical keyboards these past few years and i have, myself tried these puppies. I'm not really a keyboard enthusiast and I don't really care about the feeling, I enjoy a membrane keyboard the same way, I don't really feel a difference in the typing experience. What i really like about mechanical keyboard is their sexy look and the fact that you can easily customize their keys. I really want a sexy keyboard but i don't want to spend 50 euros more for a feature that i don't really care about. ( I'm french and this is the price difference between a membrane keyboard and a mechenical one ) So guys if you know some sexy membrane keyboards (minimalistic, compact ones such as the Vortex Pok3r 3 or the CM Storm Quickfire ) wihout mechanical keys, therefore cheaper, this would be soooo great !

Hi guys! I have a sort of old, cheap membrane hp keyboard that unfortunately I have to use every night to write various stuff. With time my most used keys have become somewhat loud, to the point that my parents that sleep on the other side of the wall complained I was making too much noise while writing during the night. Do you guys know any old tricks to minimize this sort of issue? My keypad keys are still smooth and silent but almost all the letters, caps lock and especially the space bar are quite loud indeed. And no, I do not stroke the keys too much, I'm not a monkey on the keyboard. P.S- I really did not want to spend money buying a keyboard right now, was just hoping to minimize the issue for now. And yes, already have a sort of towel underneath it, it seems to have made no difference whatsoever Thank you!
