  1. Hey everyone, this is my first post here, so I apologize if I posted this in the wrong location or if I did not include a required tag. I'm looking for a gaming keyboard that is also good for work. I do a lot of typing, and I like my current keyboard (Logitech G413 Carbon), but it has started to double-type, skip letters, and some keys would literally just fall off the keyboard randomly. I would like some recommendations for a mechanical keyboard that won't cause these issues after a year or two of purchasing it. Ideally, I also prefer quiet mechanical keyboards as I have people in my household, and I don't want to be obnoxious. Oh, and I also really like my full-size keyboard with a numpad as I use it a lot for work. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for the keyboard I should go for. I live in Ontario, Canada, and my budget is around $100-150 CAD. So, to summarize: Budget: $100-150 CAD Region: Ontario, Canada Layout: US ANSI Size: Full Sized Keyboard Connectivity: Wired and Wireless is both fine.
  2. Hey y'all, I just need somewhere to vent and warn people about this since I got introduced to Keychron Keyboards through ShortCircuit. 3-4 Weeks ago I've got my company to order me a Keychron K8 Pro as work equipment. After some initial Bluetooth issues (connected once to my notebook then for 3 days it wouldnt until it just worked again) I now have issues with my left arrow key. It constantly drops inputs. So I tried to contact the german support (keychron.de), since im from there. The only ways to contact support are via a mail form or online chat. The online chat states they respond in a couple of minutes. After not receiving a reply for a couple of hours I used the mail form to write them a message. Funny thing is, that after sending the message I didnt even get a confirmation email that they have received my request or anything. So I wasn't sure if that worked and tried to contact the main support (keychron.com). They dont have a chat, only way to contact them is by mail. So I did that. Atleast they send a confirmation mail that they have recieved my request. So thats nice. Well then I waited. I closed my keychron.de tab with the support chat since I contacted them by mail and thought I would receive a reply that way. Welp. This morning I havent heard anything from them, so I thought I reopen my keychron.de Tab and check if the chat had a new reply. And suprisingly 22 hours later I have received one. In an chat where the support agent doesnt know if the customer is even still there or not. Hella unprofessional in my eyes. Customer Service is also part of my job, so I know for a fact that this is not how you handle such a thing. The response was just a sentence where they asked for my order number. Which in my eyes is odd. You have the serial number for one of your products. That should be enough for you to verify and check the sale or waranty status. This whole ordeal has turned into utter frustration on my side. The defective item is a freakin keyswitch. Which is worth what? A dollar maybe? The keyboard is hotswapable and even in their quick start guide they state when they have to replace somethign they just ship that part. Rest is easy serviceable. So why does it take so long to replace a single keyswitch. The time invested by me and the customer service agent faaaaaaaar exceeds the value of the switch or what keychron would lose if they would just ask for the adress and send one over. So far I havent heard back from them and at this point I start to dont care anymore. I just swapped the defective left arrow switch with the one for rgb (since i dont use that key very often). So atleast I have a "functioning" product again. TL;DR: Really like the keyboard from the feeling and everything. But I cant and wont recommend buying anything from keychron. Support so far is awful and slow. Replacing a Dollar-Part shouldnt take 2 days to figure out. PS: While typing this I also noticed that some keystrokes where just not recognized while using the keyboard in bluetooth mode. My work laptop is maybe 50 cm away from the keyboard and nothing else is connected via bluetooth. Plugged in it works fine.
  3. Hello, I'll keep this nice and easy and get straight to the point because this is likely the 1000th post of this type here, so sorry about that. I'm looking for a new mechanical keyboard. Usage: Casual gaming, general office, and life usage I like 100% keyboards Wired Individually backlit is ideal but zoned gets the job done (RGB does actually add frames) Price limit is £150 however this is not a hard limit Don't care about wrist rests Dedicated macro buttons aren't a necessity but I do like the F keys being reprogrammable on Logitech keyboards Not entirely concerned about construction materials I've only ever had the G-Roamer switches from Logitech which is apparently fairly close to Cherry MX Browns (I don't think the switches will be a major deciding factor but I thought I'd put this here just to give a little context as to what I'm familiar with) I presently have the Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum, I do enjoy having the media controls offered by this keyboard (the volume roller and play pause etc buttons), I initially looked at the G213 progidy but doing a little search on the dome switches showed they were generic dome switches jazzed up with marketing speech. The other one I considered was the G910 Orion Spectrum, this was right on my budget but I feel I'm paying more for the Arx phone dock thing that I never plan on using. I did ask on Reddit and only got 1 suggestion, that was the Keychron Q6 QMK. I was initially interested in this one but the UK ISO is unavailable on their site, and elsewhere it's more expensive, so I'm looking for further suggestions. Thank you in advanced.
  4. So last year I bought my first mechanical keyboard (a corsair K70 RGB MK.2 with Cherry MX Red switches) together with some new keycaps (PBT Double-shot keycaps from corsair) as the original was in AZERTY and I wanted a QWERTY layout. This worked fine for a year and I really like the feeling of the red switches. However first the "/?" keycap broke, and I was like "sure, that can happen, I do use it somewhat regularly" and now the "F11" keycap broke as well and I almost never use the F keys other than F1 to F3. After looking at how it broke: on both keycaps the stem cracked and split into 2. Of course I did check if I could get a warranty on it. And the response is "sure, just pay 14.99 USD to get the original keycaps (not the PBT double-shot) for a maximum of 10 keycaps" knowing that the full set of 105 PBT keycaps is 34.99€ (around 36.87 USD), so for "only" double I could get a full replacement set. Now at the moment I did put in the original keycaps as a replacement (or at least the "/:" instead of the "/?") so I can continue to use it. But I'm disappointed that my old keyboard for 15 USD on dx didn't have any problems for over ten years, and only broke after I spilled coffee over it (for maybe the 5th time). And the "expensive" option only lasts a year without any abuse with no real warranty options even though they say it has 2 years of it. Sorry for the rant, but I did need to get this experience out of my chest. Also as a reminder for everyone and mostly myself that even more deluxe options can still break, and that going with a bigger brand doesn't guaranty a better customer service.
  5. Hi, I am looking for a new keyboard, but I need some advice from you, because I am unsure which one to buy. I have some criterias, but not all of them have to be fullfilled: - mechanical with German layout - some kind of lights - TKL or full-size - tactile switches - wireless (not necessary) - low profile (not necessary) I had a look at possible keyboards myself and found some options: - Logitech G815 - Keychron K1 Pro (not sure, if it stays under 140€ due to import taxes) If you know other options, I would like to know Greetings, Thecrafterja PS: If you are unsure, if the keyboard is in the price range, tell me anyway, then I am going to have a look at the prices here in Germany.
  6. Hi! I was wondering if someone could recommend Full size boards for a build. I am looking for barebone boards. Either 96% or 100% At this point I have the GMMK 2 and Keychron Q6 noted. I know the options are limited, hence my post. Thank you in advance!
  7. Hi everyone, first time posting here sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I'm currently using a Hexgears X-1 (the original Kickstarter one I got from a friend) + a Microsoft Ergonomic Wireless Mouse. I want to get a new mouse & keyboard now that I'm getting more into PC gaming & was looking for advice on what brands & models are considered good in terms of comfort, value, etc. I don't really play anything super competitive but want something that will be comfortable when playing FPS games like Halo, Apex & Destiny, as well as when playing RTS & turn-based strategy like Halo Wars, Civ, etc. My hands are average to large size for a 5'9" man and I can't really say what grip I use with the mouse I do have, but I know I don't hold it the way the ergonomic shape tries to encourage me to hold it. I was looking at the HyperX Pulsefire Haste since it's lightweight & I like the cutouts so my palm can breath a little while playing for a long time. Is this considered a good mouse or is there a better value/better quality option I'm overlooking? For keyboard, I'm looking for something a little clicky, but not as loud as my X-1, with RGB & Bluetooth + wired so I can swap it between my work machine and my gaming PC as needed. I'm not sure, but I don't think I can swap the switches on my X-1 unfortunately. I was looking into the world of mechanical keyboards but don't think I have the budget right now for these $150+ kits, as cool as they are. Any suggestions or tips for where to start researching? Happy to do my own digging and decide for myself but as a total noob to this space I'm not sure what's good and what's bad or resources to get started. Thanks so much for any tips and for reading this far!
  8. I just individually washed and wiped my key caps extremely frustratingly tediously: done it several times - long story. When I do this, I feel like I'm going insane. Back to sanity, this thread would probably be better named how to use a dryer. What is the highest setting I should use to dry my key caps in the dryer? I have chucked all those exciting keys in an empty pillow case and knotted the end. I have read that when the key caps are introduced to boiling water (~100 degrees CELCIUS), they become hideous and deformed. So which setting should I choose? Is the objective of the dryer to get the water out of the key stem by force or by evaporating the water?
  9. Hey there, has anyone recommendations for stabilizers that fit in the vulcan tkl for standard keycaps? I´d really like to change my keycap's to blank ones, but those annoying rattly stabilizers are getting in my way. I´d like to see some budget options with an availability in EU, cause importing is usually a pain in the butt. Thanks for helping my out.
  10. Hello all! I am looking for a wireless keyboard that I can bring with me to the office and not interrupt my colleagues My parameters are: quiet, mechanical, wireless (bluetooth+2.4 would be the best), type-c charging, 100% (optional) and up to 150$~. Thank you so much!
  11. From the album: My Setup/stuff

My setup. (You can find it all on my profile) Sorry about the dust... it tends to get dusty fast....
  12. So I'm doing my course work at school for product design (Design Technology) and for my research, I need to know what people think about a macro keypad for productivity. If you have a few seconds, please could you complete this form Thank you very much for your help guys.
  13. i want a good mechanical keyboard that can be shipped in india ( TKL or 60% with reliably usable Fn 1-12 row or layer) i have a option on amazon.in https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B08G1QVK9D/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A14CZOWI0VEHLG&psc=1 -2200 rupees i need something like this or better max i can go including shipping is 5000 rupees or 70 dollars i dont care if its not a indian site and have to get it shipped from somewhere as long as its in my budget personally i want brown or blue switches and optionally individual backlight and some software of some sorts i would love it if the switches and key caps are hot swappable i cant seem to find anything better if someone has some recommendations please share it with me thx in advance
  14. Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about getting a TKL mechanical keyboard under $50, and I came across the Tecware Phantom 87 key keyboard and the Dierya GK63 Wireless Keyboard, both use Outemu switches and both look similar. Is there any difference except for connectivity between the two keyboards? Please reply if you have something to say. Cheers!
  15. Hello, I need help in buying a keyboard. Which one of the three should I chose? One of them has Outemu red switches and also full layout but isn't hot-swappable: Hator Rockfall - gaming keyboard | Hator official website official website. One of them has Gateron clear swithes and its bluetooth, TKL, USB-C connection, multimedia keys and it's hot-swappable: Skyfall TKL - Hator official website The last one has Kailh black optical switches and its TKL and it's hot-swappable: Rockfall EVO TKL - Hator official website PS: The outemu red is the cheapest, the kailh one is a little more expensive and the gateron one is the most expensive.
  16. Hi everyone, Been searching a while for something like this, especially because of work from home, but it seems that I cant find any keyboard with the specs I want If anyone knows of any niche keyboard maker that makes a wireless mechanical keyboard with multi device support, please let me know! 17. Let me start this off by saying I don't know how many of you have seen this keyboard before but I figured I would give it a good shout out considering I've been using it for a little over a year now. I am not some mechanical keyboard enthusiast so take what I say lightly. This is the Walmart brand ONN wired, fully programmable, per-key rgb, clicky mechanical switches, and program memory keyboard. I personally keep it on the rainbow barf just cause it adds a bit of flair to my otherwise boring setup. It is a decent typing experience with decent travel and bottoms out slightly after activation plus you can change the keycaps don't know about the switches themselves but I'd imagine you could with a little effort. It has flip up feet to type at a slight angle and is made of metal on the deck which gives it good structural rigidity. They also have a nice long wrist rest that make it comfortable for gaming for hours or even typing for long periods of time keeping your wrists comfortable enough. I will however mention that the software you download to unlock all the programming features is pretty bad overall but considering the price (which ill get to shortly) I can forgive all of it problems. All of this talk about this keyboard came from the most recent LTT video about the most popular rgb keyboards on Amazon. I wanted to point out this keyboard because while as it isn't exactly the cheapest option it comes in at $45.99 before tax, which I figure is amazing for how well it has performed for me overall. I'd give this keyboard 4.5 stars or an 9/10 just because the software is a little frustrating. Let me know if you found this useful and/or you managed to buy one what your thoughts on it are as well. I tried my best to explain in detail but keep it short so I'd really be interested to see if I did a good enough job. Anyways thanks for reading and if anyone found this useful you're welcome for the tip. Have a great day.
  18. I would like a budget thocky TKL mechanical keyboard, does anyone have any recommendations? (Needs to be TKL) Country: Hungary
  19. Two points; we all know that the 3U rack size is the least liked by many server enthusiasts and manufacturers, and even hated by some for its odd size; many large servers use axial fans in 80, 92, and 120mm sizes, but very few beyond the 1U format will have squirrel-cage/blower fans for full system cooling. Even in the rare case which such fans are used, the air is always drawn in from the front of the chassis for obvious reasons. I have a random idea to design a chassis in 3U form factor that dedicates all of it's front-panel space to a pair of 8" HD (old HD, not 1080) screens for system telemetry, maintenance, and casually observing running workloads... but how to cool it? Through the top, of course! (my rack has an open 3U space in the top, so this works perfectly) But I couldn't just pick an axial fan to mount on the top and blindly believe it would work, no, I needed a more strategic approach to the issue-- so I looked at datasheets from the few manufacturers known to make high-speed fans, and found something perfectly fitting as well as energy efficient from San-Ace under their C133 line, model 9TJ48P0H01. To those of you wondering why I'd do such an odd configuration and with powerful centrifugal fans, the simple answer is; I was bored. (and I have a mad obsession with fans!) Because the fans I intend to use are proprietary in shape, the only way to mount them and effectively direct the airflow in a full-scale server chassis is to design a custom base and shroud to affix the fans and the inlet nozzle uniformly to the target chassis. I ran the numbers several times, and while at first I didn't think it would all fit, I made it work just barely staying within mechanical tolerances. Needless to say this is going to be ludicrously dense. Overall dimensions are 420mm wide, 140mm deep, and 107mm total height. Each fan (133mm wheel diameter) is separated at the midpoint by 140mm, leaving effectively 2mm of running space between each wheel and the walls of the shroud. Vertically it has about 5mm from the base plate to the bottom of the wheel, and some odd 12-13mm from underneath the cover plate to the top of the wheel. Am I concerned about the fan wheel rubbing against the side walls? Well first off that's what the screw holes on the base plate are for since that's how the fan is expected to be mounted, and second, as Linus would say; YOLO! Also a little side comment here; the numbers weren't quite what I expected, so I plan to split my 3U design idea internally; the system itself will live on a 2U upper-deck area (the effective cooling path for this fan model only covers 2U vertical area) inline with the custom fan assembly, while the power supply and other components will be in the bottom 1U of the chassis' usable space, making it possible to create a monster of a system! Here are renderings of the semi-final assembly I've made so far:
  20. I got a Magegee MK 1 keyboard as a hand me down and the "1" key doesn't work properly. It wont respond until after a couple of mashes later. After watching the LTT video where Linus fixes his wife's keyboard ive decided to do the same and replace the switch. The only problem is im not sure what switches to replace it with. Jixian Blues are what is currently in it but it doesnt look like you can buy them. Now im wondering if i can put in a Gateron, Outemu, Kailh or Cherry switch, the only problem is that i don't know if it will work. Any Advice?
  21. Hello everyone, I've tried to build my first mechanical keyboard this week. I've selected all the parts that I thought would fit well together and that would also match my tastes. I would like a little feedback on my build if possible by someone that knows more then I do about keyboards. I would like to be sur that I'm not missing anything to have a complet and working keyboard at the end. Maybe even suggestion to modify somethings that I might over spend or under spend on. And finally, I'm a programmer so is a 60% keyboard suitable for a programmer or not? I've heard that it's possible to use the fonction key to map more keys like arrows for example, but I still want to hear your opinion on this! 22. Hi I'm looking for a 104 key full sized mechanical keyboard. They keychron C2 and K1 have caught my eye but I'm looking for something that has the wireless features of the K1 with the normal profile of the C2. Does such a keyboard exist? More info: Mostly would be using it in wired mode but the wireless switching feature is attractive for WFH set ups when switching from my main rig to the office laptop. Based in Singapore. Thanks
  23. I got some rando cheap mechanical keyboard about a month ago with (I'm assuming) outemu blue switches. After a bit, a few of the keys started to get really unreliable. I opened the keyboard up and there's no damage or anything wrong with the pcb. I also cleaned up the malfunctioning switches with compressed air which did fix them for about 30 minutes. What's odd though is that if I remove the keycap the switch works just fine. I checked if the keycap was bottoming out before the actual switch and that wasn't the case.
  24. Hello everyone, I started this new topic since I gave back my G910 Logitech with romer G switches and a left set of functional keys (right after TAB, Caplock etc,), and started looking around for new options. For now I stick with my Logitech K120 (<10€) office keyboard that is more than enough for now and serves the purpose of reserve, so I have time to choose the next main keyboard. My current setup My personal laptop on the right, an old glorious MSI GE60, sitting with its bottom opened on a Cooler Master Notepal XL My working laptop on the left, a Thinkpad E480 sitting on a Cooler Master Notpeal 3, An AOC 24'' an AIMOS SWITCH HDMI KVM so that I can link main screen, mouse and keyboard on the "active" computer with a switch. My usual activity Coding: on a daily base I am (or try to be) an IT consultant: sometimes I code (python or C#), sometimes I use SQL so having stuff that allow you to do quick selections (like Ctrl+End) is handy, and I like having F5 and F10 separate from numeric keys Studying: I usually had to use R, Python and Latex so I was considering adopting left lateral keys for macros Typing I seldom use the right numeric keyboard to type special characters like "«" or "»" (ALT+0171/0187), "~" (ALT+196). I never could do this with the top line of numbers above the QWERTY zone. Gaming (sadly, not so much lately and not competitive) I don't have a powerful pc (maybe I'll be able to take a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro this year), but I don't have much time for games, so I seldom play at Warframe, Hades or MtG arena right now, Again I used the left lateral keys (G1, G2... G) for customized commands. Media control I liked to have volume control right on the keyboard, but I survived before My need is then for a keyboard that is robust, that allows to code, study and game, that can be linked to the switch so I can use it both from personal and work computer. Note: I also have the Logitech K780, that allows to switch between three BlueTooth devices, but I cannot connect it to my two pc at the same time (switching from one to another). My first initial look was towards the G915, since it's wireless, good looking, still has addressable RGB, and more modest lateral frame (I don't have much space) than the G910 used to have. Given the price though, I started considering smaller form factors: there's the option of G915 of the TKL, but I'd lose the left side buttons. I started looking at other keyboards, like the Glorious GMMK, YUNZII, KEYCHRON, VERMILO etc. Aside from the price (in certain cases it's too high, like the GMMK) I noticed that when you go for smaller sizes, there's almost no chance to have left side set of custom buttons. My questions I'd like to know: is there a layout like a 75% keyboard like this but with a left set of buttons like the G910? If not, what would you suggest to do? Are there "budget" solutions for left side numerical keypads that I can customize?
  25. Hi guys, I'm looking for mechanical keyboard recommendations. I'm a sysadmin by day, so don't want a 10keyless, as I type a lot of IP addresses and a numpad is great for that. I also do a lot of coding in my spare time, and I don't know much about key switches or keycaps, so would appreciate if someone could explain what type would be best for long coding sessions. I would like it to be wireless with USB-C charging if possible (willing to compromise on that though if there's an outstanding keyboard that doesn't have it). Backlit keyboards preferred but optional. RGB could be tolerated but certainly isn't needed. I don't do much gaming, and what little I do is very casual, so I don't need a "gaming" keyboard. I currently have a Razer Blackwidow Stealth 2013. It's... ok. Not ideal. Would prefer something sleeker, a bit more stylish, modern, less gamery, but I'm struggling to find anything with a numpad. I like the look of the DROP keyboards. Thought for a while I'd get the SHIFT, but it doesn't have a lot of the keys you use often in code, or if it does, they're not on the bottom row where they should be. Can anyone recommend a perfect keyboard for me?
