I recently purchased a Rog Maximus Z790 Hero and installed it today. However when I started the PC I got a d6 error. Which is related to the GPU however, I had saw posts recommending a Biosflash, which I then proceeded to do. However after the blue light was blinking for a while, it went solid abd has now stayed solid for over 2 hours. I do not want to attempt anything without complete certainty because I know that I can cause irrepreable damage to the motherboard during a Biosflash. I saw someone mention that a solid blue light means that it is finished, but everything else mentioned the light would turn off. Please I urgently need assistance.

I've already turn MCE off, yet this CPU run rather hot. I don't want to go into too many details. I'm using a Maximus XIII Hero board, is there any other features I can turn off to help me CPU run cooler ? Even with MCE off It still consume more than 125W even in games. If I were to run Cinebench it keep it at 4.9 Ghz when near end it will drop, so I guess MCE is turn off indeed. But It was consuming much as 1.35 - 1.36V.... Is there some way to like Undervolt or even further limit the amount of power consumption ?? I never really OC before, I'm not even sure how to Undervolt a CPU.

Hello, prevousily I posted how I got a i7 4790k and a Asus ROG Maximus VII Hero. It worked perfectly fine till recently where I noticed it was taking very long time to post (around 20-30 seconds till I hear the beep). This did not happen before. I can‘t really remeber the thing I was doing the first time I got this long post time but I remeber I was selling my old i7 2600 without any memory so I took out one stick out of my PC to take pictures that it worked. After that my PC got stuck at Q-Code D5. After a reset it booted up however really long till I heard the beep. I‘m looking to find somebody who had expirience with this or knows a fix. My CPU is overclocked to 4.7 at 1.325V and the RAM are two Hyper-X kits (two sticks at 1866 and two at 1600 all running at 1600Mhz). I have a SATA SSD and two hard drives in RAID0 so I would like to not lose my data in the proces of troubleshooting. Thanks a lot Sincerly, tw1st3d

I have an Asus Rog Maximus x formula motherboard with a i7-8700k with the most recent bios and drivers and I’ve tried over clocking my cpu in bios multiple times following videos. (I’ve over clocked cpus before so I know the procedures involved with over clocking cpus) I’m trying to over clock to 4.7ghz and it says so on the bios but when I launch to windows it’s still at stock clock speed. I’ve read up on articles all day about people having the same problems with no fixes what so ever. Wondering if anybody has a fix for this here or maybe I’m missing a setting in my bios settings that applies to Asus motherboards. I’ve changed the clock speed the voltage all that good stuff and it refuses to clock past the factory clock speed under load. I payed for a a mother board that can be over clocked yet refuses to do so. Please help.

I recently purchased the Asus Maximus IX Hero motherboard for my build, then realized I'm going to have to put my computer further from my router than I'd have liked, so I'm going to need a WiFI NIC. Does anyone know what the best solution would be? I'd like to go with an M.2 NIC if possible, but I don't know what antennae to use and which NIC would be best if I did.

Hello guys, i've overclocked my 6700k by increasing the ratio from 40 to 46. In windows when i run CPU-Z it shows me that the max ratio is 46 and when i run stress test my CPU is working on 4600 MHz, but in BIOS on the right side panel the numbers are still like the stock ones. I have updated my BIOS to the latest one but didn't get any changes. It's my first overclocking experience and i am a bit confused. Does anyone knows what is this and how to fix it? Is it a big problem or that's how it should be?

I'm putting together a new build for the first time in over 10 years. I'm trying to decide on a mobo and I keep going back and forth. I've been between the ROG Strix Z270E Gaming and the ROG MAXIMUS IX CODE. Are there any real differences between the two, besides lights and some plastic "armor"? Thanks for your input LTTC!

Hey there! I've got an Asus Maximus VII Formula paired with an i7 4790k and for some reason my motherboard wont always detect my SSD's. I've got a Samsung 850 Pro 128gb (my boot drive) and a Samsung 850 Evo 500gb. 70% of the time it detects them both. But theres a lot of times where it wont detect my boot drive, which causes it to change the boot order, which causes Bitlocker to ask for my huge unlock key, and theres also times where it wont detect the 850 Evo (my games drive). I've not yet had it where it wont detect both at the same time. Restarting the PC is all it takes to fix it, but that is annoying as shutting off the PC and turning it back on too quickly causes issues with my soundcard. Go figure. I know it has to be a motherboard issue because I used the 850 Evo in my other PC, which has a Biostar TA970 mobo, and it never had this issue. The 850 Pro has only been used with this motherboard and has always had this problem. It seems that all the HDD's are detected every time without issue. I also had this issue with an Intel SSD paired with this motherboard for a test, it had never had this issue before and has not since putting it back in my 2nd PC a few months back. I cant seem to figure out why the hell this board does this, but I must say it is one of the many issues I've had with this board and Asus is of no help. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them! Thanks!

Hello, (sorry for my kinda shity english) So in the moment i'm in the middle of getting the parts for my new build, so far so go, the only part that is missing is a CPU cooler, i read the Noctua NH-D15 is the best you can get with air but its very large. So i hope that sombody of you could help me find out if in combi with that cooler in the vertical position (so the air goes out the back) would block the first PCIE 1X Slot. If not, if i use one of the lower PCIE 1X Slots would that impact performace of other parts or not? I did not find anyting (for me understandable) in the manual of the Board. Build: Case: Fractal Desin R4 PSU: BeQuiet Power 10 600W CPU: Intel I7 8700K CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 (i hope) MB: ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X HERO GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080TI (Zotac or MSI) Other Stuff: ELGATO Game Capture HD60 Pro (for the 1X Slot) Thanks in advance Life

Hi everyone! This is my first time turning to any forum with issues, but I can't seem to figure this one out (DISCLOSURE: Its my first time building my own system). I built this PC a while ago, but I started noticing that I have issues with the Logitech C920e, for example, not booting (I don't know if that is the right phrasing) with the system as others can't hear me through Skype (and in the settings it doesn't read any sound input either). The issue is quickly resolved by unplugging and reconnecting the device. This is becoming a big hassle though every time I start up (or occasional when it happens when the computer goes to Sleep). I will provide a link to my PcPartPicker page for details about the PC. So far what I have done, is disabled the power saving option settings, it has a relatively new BIOS update. Link: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/sK8Ycf Any helps is appreciated

I have just built a custom pc i7 7700K Vengeance led 16GB 3200 ddr4 ram be quiet 280mm cooler maximus ix code motherboard 500gb 850 evo ssd 2tb WD black hhd corsair 860w power supply GTX 1060 6GB when I connect everything up it goes through all the normal q-codes but ends on A2 (IDE Detect) it won't display anything on the screen I am connected to the on board hdmi, I have tried disconnecting the hard drives entirely still the same, I have tried removing the gpu as well still the same, I have tried only one stick of ram still the same problem. I have attempted to flash the bios by downloading the cap file and using the bios button on the motherboard, it flashes briefly but then the led goes solid and won't turn off, I have no idea what to do now.

Hello! I recently got a new cooler and wanted to overclock my cpu (i7-6700K) so i went to the cpu core/cache voltage to set it to manual and saw it was already set to 1,36 but then i changed it to manual and set the voltage ovveride to 1.350 and the core voltage was still 1,36 also under stress test it passes up to 1.4v at max even when i set it to 1.35 so i saw this guide with this image that have a way different core voltage so my question is: it normal for me to have 3.6 instead of 1.280? i cant change the core/cache at all and i just wanted to test this specific guide out and this is all thats bumming me out Sorry for bad english EDIT: My motherboard is asus maximus viii extreme

So I just got an Asus maximus VII ranger, I've installed my 4670k and 16GB of ram and when I turn on the power supply, the red LED that shows on the "supreme fx" and audi separation line is flashing dimly and randomly. Nothing happens when i press start or reset. No other LEDs are lit and this happens regardless of a cpu or ram installed. Everything is plugged in correctly, anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Hello all, I just recently bought a m.2 drive for my computer build. I installed it in the m.2 slot on my mobo underneath the shroud. Once i installed windows on it, I booted up my computer and only one of my other hard drives is showing up. I looked in the manual and it says that if I install a M.2 drive one of my sata ports is disabled. Do you know which one is disabled? ive tried to move my sata cables around on the mobo connections but my hard drives still do not show up. PLEASE HELP!

Q code 62 - AUSU Maximus Rog VIII Hero
Crawford7712 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Just finished my new build and can't get my PC to POST. Gives me Q code 62 (yes 62) . I also get no tones from the speaker and the only Qled on is VGA or White. I've called ASUS and they want me to send it in but if I can not I would rather not. I have tried a bios flashback. I have rechecked everything. With everything except my CPU and RAM I still get the same code. Without my ram I get code 55 which is good. It means my RAM is being detected. I've also taken the CPU out to check for bent pins. I'm completely lost on this. Anyone have any suggestion? PC components below. ASUS Maximus Rog VIII Hero i7 7700k Ballistix DDR4-2400 EVGA 850 BQ -
So I have an Asus Maximus VII Ranger and I want to get a new M.2 Samsung 960 Evo. The problem is that my motherboard has an M.2 port but its limited at 10Gbit/s. That means 960 Evo's potential is wasted on my motherboard. I thought about getting an M.2 to PCI 3.0 x4 adapter (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Lycom-DT-120-PCIe-Adapter-Support/dp/B00MYCQP38) to get the maximum speeds of the M.2. But I need to know if the M.2 will be bootable. Please help, I have been searching for days and found nothing. Thanks in advance!!

Hello and thank you for clicking here,Origin of problem- I am going to begin with what I believe to have been the origin of this problem. About 3 months ago I was playing modded minecraft. I had made a mistake with a mod called WorldEdit by accadentally trying to regenerate almost my entire world. As you can imagine this was a VERY intensive activity for a CPU. After I accadentally did this I attempted to use the undo command which only hurt the problem. At this point my entire computer is COMPLETELY frozen. I left it alone for almost a day to see if anything would happen but it stayed frozen. At this point I decided I didn't have much of a choice other than to force shut down my PC. This is what I believe to have started my problem. The problem itself- So basically after the computer restarted every about 10-30 minutes my computer would just freeze and my mouse, keyboard, headphones, and other accessories disconnected. Now the strangest part of my problem is that it isn't always the same thing. Sometimes it will do what I just said but other times it will freeze and my devices stay connected. The problem stayed limited to these two scenarios for a few months. During this time I was attempting to solve the problem. Using things like memtest I thought I had narrowed the issue down to it being my memory so I contacted Corsair requesting an RMA which they did. When I recieved my memory the issue seemed to stop for about a week which was very exiting but then one day while I was just watching a simple video it froze. At this point I was pretty angry because I realized I was going to have to go back to the drawing board but something strange happened this time with the crash. When it rebooted it started the Windows Automatic Startup Repair thing. I decided that I really didn't have a lot of a choice so I reinstalled windows while keeping all my files. This again solved the problem for about a week until I ended up having to relocate my PC for renovation where it had been. The issue did not re-appear while in its new spot which I was again very happy about but then I went to move it back to its old spot. This is when the problem reappeared so I decided I am going to try to narrow the problem down by eliminating OS as a problem. So I completely wiped the drive I stored Windows on and reinstalled it. This did not solve the problem so I now know it is a hardware problem. At this point the things that are happening is sometimes the computer wont boot. When it still freezes. Can I please get some help?Hardware-Motherboard- ASUS ROG Maximus VIII HeroProcessor- Intel Core i7 6700kMemory- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GBGPU- GeForce GTX 970 Windforce This problem has gotten to a point where I truly believe I have done absolutely everything possible to try and fix this problem and just when I think its fixed it just breaks again. I no longer know what to do and I just get let down whenever I try to fix the problem. Please for the love of god help me.

Looking for a few suggestions before I send my board in for RMA. Here is the build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6wx6Z8 I have intermittent BIOS freezing upon loading issues since I originally purchased the board in January of 2015, but nothing a reset wouldn't fix. Over the past few days I had several random crashes/restarts, which I believe were related to my OC and the high summer temperatures (80+ F). I had tried manually reducing my OC but still was experiencing crashing during gaming randomly which resulted in several complete reboots. My 4790k has been OCed to 4.8Ghz 24/7 since it's original install. Long story short I went into BIOS and loaded optimized defaults to test and see if the OC was the cause of the restarts. Upon reboot I lost my RAID 0 which is no biggy. Attempted to load up the BIOS and it instantly freezes upon loading of the BIOS. I attempted to clear CMOS twice and even reflashed the BIOS using USB flashback twice and the BIOS still freezes instantly. Since I can not reconfigure my RAID I can not boot Windows. Since I can't enter the BIOS I also can't re-install Windows on a single drive since I can't change the boot order to USB I contacted ASUS and explained what had happened and they instantly told me to RMA the board for repair without even trying any other fixes over the phone. I am curious if anyone has run into this and found a fix. The only positive out of all of this is the board is still under warranty until January of 2018. Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna build a new Gaming rig soon (and mild editing.) I will repurpose my old GTX 960, and i'll buy a 6600K and some RAM. What i'm wondering is, should i get the Sabertooth for it's warranty and cooling, or the Hero for it's overclocking? (keep in mind i'm not a fantastic overclocker) The other specs are below V.

Asus Maximus VII not allowign to defult boot to SSD RAID array
xxx posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I built a computer about a year ago. It has worked fine ever since, but a few days ago it suddenly would not boot by default to the SSD RAID 0 array. It comes up with a screen (see attached DSC07700.JPG) prompting which drive to boot to. When I select SSD array it is fine and boots to windows. Is there a solution to make it boot to the SSDs by default? I have flashed the BIOS to the latest version (3003). I have also launched this year Windows (10) in safe mode. Neither made a difference. Also earlier this year I did a BIOS update. The BIOS update worked and the computer has been fine but when you turn the computer on it shows the American Megatrends inc. screen. Is this part of the problem? Also during POST this screen appears (attached below DSC07695.JPG). This is my first time overclocking my cpu. I followed the instructions on the linked video to a T, except to the voltage of the cpu, as i didnt know what my cpu could handle. im averaging just over 4 ghz and peaking at 4.6. My highest cinebench score is 4714 if that helps any troubleshoot for me.
