Hello Guys. I need some help. I recently bought a PCie SSD. The XPG GAMMIX S5 256GB. But I've had trouble getting my motherboard to recognize it. I have a Maximus VII Gene motherboard. In theory the SSD should work well. In the mobo specs it says: 1 x M.2 Socket 3,, with M Key, type 2260/2280 storage devices support (PCIE mode). The SSD is an M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3X4 First I change the PCie mode to M.2 When I restarted the PC, the BIOS showed me the SSD information. When starting Windows the SSD was not displayed. I Restar again and change it to AUTO and when starting Windows, the SSD already appeared. I Restart the PC a second time and the SSD no longer appeared. Neither in the BIOS. I have noticed this. If I turn off the PC and turn it on in a few minutes later, the SSD appears. But I feel that it is not running as it should. If I move any BIOS settings (anything), upon restarting the PC, the SSD is no longer displayed anywhere. I have to turn it off and on in 5 minutes for it to appear and work. As long as I don't move anything from the BIOS, I can restart and shutdown the PC normally, when I return to Windows the SSD is there. I share a snapshot of the performance it currently has. I know there is something wrong, because the SSD specifications say that it has readings of 2100MB/s and writes of 1200MB/s. In the performance tests, the SSD do not reach those speeds. I have removed CSM support and it doesn't change anything. Fun fact, when I switched from PCie M.2 to AUTO, and turned off the PC, when I started Windows, I did a test of copying a 4GB file and it was copied in 15 seconds. When i restarted Windows, the SSD was no longer displayed. When I got it to appear, I did the same test and the performance declined. I have RAID0 of two CORSAIR LX SSD's and they work faster than the M.2. Could it be the SATA configuration I have? I have SATA mode in RAID, not in AHCI. Is this what is affecting me? Please. Could you help me if I am doing something wrong? Is the M.2 not compatible with my MOBO? Do I need to activate something else? Which M.2 SSD PCIe express would you recommend for my Maximus VII Gene? I'm new to this forum and I need your advice on upgrading my pc with a new graphic card that supports 4k@60hz (don't know if there is more than 60hz cards) with a must displayport connection because my monitor only accept this option to play 4k. Hi guys. Does anyone know if the Samsung 960 Pro NVMe SSD is compatible with the ROG Maximus VII Gene motherboard. The motherboard will take out all the speed of the SSD? This question for a couple of years I have in mind and can not find anyone with the answer anywhere. My Rig is: CPU: i5 4690k MB: Maximus VII Gene. RAM: Corsair Vengence 16GB 2400MHz Cooler: Corsair H100i GPU: R9 280X. PSU: Corsair RM850 Case: Corsair Obsidian 350D. If someone can help me? Thanks in advance.

Hey, so, the second pcie lane looks abit diffrent, half of the pcie lane is covered with normal pins and such while the other half is blank, apparently. Due to the blank space the gpu's pins can't be pushed down into the pcie lane correctly, so only half of the pins is "allmost" correctly in place. And why i say "allmost" , is because it can't detect the second gpu in any software i've checked, GPU-Z , Nvidia controlepanels, Nvidia experience, HWmonitor, anything, you name it, it isn't there. so i came to conclusion that the pins doesn't attach correctly to the slot. I find this wierd since i've seen loads of builds with the Maximus VII gene running SLI, so i thought it had to be a manufacturing problem, so i checked some photos of the board if i could spot any differense, but there were not any differense at all, i can even spot the blank space in the pcie slot on most of the photos, let me get you an example of my struggle, http://prntscr.com/80a3f3 and http://prntscr.com/80a3t2 , and as you see on the right side of the pcie slot there is a blank space without any pins , so i wonder why this should be a problem to me, or why they even then added that blank space to the pcie slot if it didn't really have any purpose at all? Anyways i've tried to force the gpu in place (It's 2 Asus Gtx 970's btw, which shouldn't either make any differense since the connection is the same on all 16x pcie gpu's) but if i push any more than this im sure i will break the pins on either the gpu or mobo. Please Help

Hello LTT Forum I recently completed a build on Sunday which looked like it was going just fine (brand new parts for everything but the GPU). Everything worked after the install and after running a couple benchmarks, etc. I was very happy with the result. I turned on my comp today (two days later) and the fans ramped up to super fast and wouldn't quit. :wacko: When Corsair Link came up, it showed that my CPU temps were in the 70s and there was something wrong with my fans... This was weird as I wasn't running anything at all (i.e. I just booted up the comp). I turned off the computer completely, shut off the PSU completely for a couple minutes before powering on again. This time the Asus boot screen said that my CPU temps were out of control. Now I have a Corsair H100i installed and installed properly I assure you. I used rubber spacers on the back to the board to get rid of the slack from the mounting screws and keep pressure between the waterblock and the cpu. All fans are working properly (all four fans: two case fans and two radiator fans). I don't know what's going on and I'm freaking out!!! I just bought all this stuff!!! Weird thing is that I found some strange tuning fork looking thing on the bottom of my case... I have a really clean build, so I'm not sure how it got there and believe it might have fallen off from "somewhere"... So ive been planning this build for months now, and I'm finally getting to opportunity to buy all the parts and build it. I'm so excited its insane haha. This is actually my first personal build but ive helped so many of my friends build so i know what to do (thanks to the Ultimate Build Guides as well). My goal for this system is to be a powerful portable lan crusher and also for music production and mixing. Parts list: Intel i7 4770K Corsair H80i Asus Maximus VII Gene Kingston HyperX Fury Ram 8gb (2x4) Samsung 840 Evo SSD Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200 RPM MSI Twin Frozr 770 BitFenix Prodigy M/Phenom M Corsair RM 750 Total: $1363.11 USD So here's my rationale. Why the i7? I do A LOT of music rendering and i need more threads because (1) Getting my music out as quick as possible is important to me. (2) I also am editing my bands Kickstarter video and need the extra juice (3) i like to get the best i can get and (4) im impatient. The Kind of music i work with is like 60 gigs a song (full band and shit at like super high quality audio) so i just need it. Simple as that. The first thing people may look at funny is why such a high end motherboard? Well first of all its been a dream of mine to put anything ROG in a system and i know its reliable and just flat out works. Secondly with the Maximus VII, its has that cool supreme FX Impact sound card like the Maximus 6 Impact so i can SLI and still have super great sound. Me being a musician and doing audio work, this makes sense to me. I have a buddy who bought the Maximus 6 Impact and he does electronic music for fun and he loves it. Also Z97 allows me to have (A) SATA Express ( B ) I will be able to get Devil's Canyon and Broadwell on this board if i so choose and ( C ) i want to overclock the snot outta that I7. The Fury ram is really good ram for the money. I've used it in a friends build a few weeks ago and its frickin great. Ok so this is gonna take some explaining. The 770 will 100% be replaced later by dual 780 ti's. But why buy the 770 now? I only have 1300 and i need this PC nooowwww and also i have a cool plan I will most likely replace the 4770K with a 4790K when it comes out as well and I'll have two pretty high end parts lying around doing nothing. What to do? Build and ITX LAN Crusher of course!!!! The power supply will also be used in that system as i will HAVE to upgrade to a 850 watt PSU. Now what I'm on the fence about is the case. I need portability. It's essential and i decided that the BitFenix Prodigy or Phenom M is the way to go. However im torn between the two. The prodigy having the optical drive bay is great because i need it with a lot of stuff. But the Phenom just looks great and just seems like a sturdier case with a bit more cable management room. I'm leaning towards the prodigy but i dont know what to get honestly. What do you guys recommend? Overall i think its a nice build and im ready to pull the trigger but i just wanted to run it by the community before i purchase because i trust people's judgment here VS r/buildapc. I want to make sure im building the best PC for my money and seeing if my upgrade plan makes sense to everyone as well. It's weird but i just love building and i like to have the best of the best that i can get. Thanks everyone so much for your time and i look forward to your responses!
