  1. Budget (including currency): $2000 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Starfield, F1 23, streaming & recording (including from external consoles), emulation, LoL, potentially some light video editing Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Current parts list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/BjtrCd Current system: MSI GE62 7RD Apache Laptop Buy plan: Probably at least a few months to a year, but sorting out how I'd like to build today so I am ready with a plan Preferences: 1440p resolution 100-180 Hz refresh AMD CPU / GPU Low-cost PWM fans Seasonic power supply (Really like the company / build quality / want to support them and include in my build) Prefer Sapphire GPU (Nitro+ / Pulse) for personal preference on looks over other GPUs and stupid personal reasons Want most of my money to be in the GPU Chose parts with RGB working together in mind after a few parts ended up being RGB. Hello LTT Community! I am a long-time YouTube watcher, first-time poster, and first-time builder. After doing a bunch of research on how I would like to build my PC, I landed on the PC parts listed above. Here is a little dive into some of the justification as to the parts pertinent to my questions: Asus Prime AP201 MicroATX Case: This is one of the cheapest mATX cases I have found with looks I like, has a USB-C front IO, and a smaller form factor that isn't in the mid-tower size. It's also great for airflow based on my research, but provides a few challenges on that front (more on that later). Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7800 XT: First of all, I couldn't give two hoots about ray tracing, and AMD's extra VRAM alongside its great pricing compared to NVIDIA makes this an easy choice for me. I also just like the fact that I'm choosing AMD over NVIDIA from a company standpoint. I think 4K is a waste of time for me, and 1440p is more than adequate for my needs and wants. I also went with the 7800 over the 7700 since it was a minor price bump for significant performance improvements. I went with the Nitro for personal preference on looks and RGB (one place I decided to splurge a little for myself), but still considering the Pulse as a possible alternative, and I just like Sapphire as a GPU builder in general. ASRock B650M Pro RS Wifi mATX Motherboard: I find it really silly just how much money motherboard manufacturers are selling their boards for these days, and I think you get very little extra for expensive boards that I really care about. This board has everything I need, except maybe enough headers to accommodate my airflow/RGB needs (again, more on that later). I really want to spend as little as I can get away with on my motherboard, and this seemed to work well for my needs. InWin Luna AL120 3-Pack: These fans aren't perfect solutions, but they are currently my top choice for static pressure, good airflow, lower noise, and the bonus of RGB. Currently deciding on how many fans I need, between 3 and 6. Not a fan of the fact that these are sleeve bearing fans, I would prefer fluid bearings as I heard they function better mounted horizontally and are generally quieter, but I am still a novice in this area (and in general ) and I'm not entirely sure as to what makes the most sense on bearings. I also absolutely want PWM fans. Deepcool GAMMAXX GT V2: I definitely want air cooling, hate the idea of having water-cooling in my PC, and this was a reasonably cheap option that looked nice (especially with the RGB endplate) and seemed more than adequate for my needs. Ryzen 5 7600: Small note here, I chose this intentionally over the 7600X for its lower TDP and lower price while still being more than enough processing for what I need. On to the questions! 1) Fans: sleeve vs fluid bearing & static pressure My current understanding is that sleeve bearing fans are best used in the vertical position, and since I only have one option for a vertical fan in the AP201 case, should I instead be considering other options? I chose the InWin Lunas for their static pressure for the bottom intakes to get past the dust filter, great airflow, low cost, being moderately quiet, and the bonus RGB. I was also considering the Thermalright TL-S12-S fans for similar reasons while also being fluid bearings, but was largely concerned about needing another kind of fan to have more static pressure for the dust filter at the bottom of the case. Maybe this is me being overly cautious about the filter and it's actually a non-issue, please let me know! I was also considering the Noctua S12B redux-1200 fans for their fluid bearings, good airflow and unmatched low sound while also being low-cost, but again was concerned about static pressure in front of the filter. They also have no RGB, but I care less about that. Between these options, I guess I really need to know if the horizontal nature of the majority of my fans is going to cause a problem for my sleeve bearing top choice, and if I need to consider static pressure considerations at all when considering that dust filter. I am also open to hearing suggestions from the community for low-cost, low-noise fans that suit this case / configuration. 2) Setting up an optimal fan configuration for slight positive pressure in the AP201 case While this case is excellent for airflow with its all-mesh design, the ability to mount fans is limited to (in 120mm size) 3 on the top, 1 in the rear, and 2 on the bottom. The power supply is mounted at the front, so no fans can be mounted there. It is also important to note that there is a dust filter on the bottom of the case which is causing my novice brain no end of headaches. This leads me to a couple of different possible fan configurations. 3 exhaust top, 2 intake bottom, 1 exhaust rear: Max fans for max cooling and max light show. This is probably my least desirable setup because (I think) this would almost certainly lead to negative pressure in the case and is just asking for all kinds of dust build-up. I'm assuming fan speed can be adjusted to accommodate, but that just seems like I'm wasting money on too many fans at that point. 2 exhaust top, 2 intake bottom: Simple math, two in, two out, likely good for neutral pressure in the case, but I'm also unsure if the dust filter at the bottom is going to cause a static pressure problem and once again lead to negative pressure. This is largely why I chose the InWin Lunas as they were supposed to have good static pressure while also providing excellent airflow with the light show, and I wondered if fan speed can be adjusted to compensate. 2/3 exhaust top, 0/1 exhaust rear: Maybe I don't even need bottom fans. One of the hardest questions I've had to find an answer for is whether or not GPU fans should be considered in the airflow profile of your case for ensuring positive pressure. The Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT is a beefy card: a three slot, three fan design. It will likely be very close to the bottom of the case and I don't know if there will even be enough space for the 2 bottom intake fans after that, and I'm unsure if the card itself will be enough intake to balance out the exhaust. Again, also concerned that this is where the dust filter is too. Is it recommended to have those fans under the GPU or not? If there won't be enough clearance for fans, should I also consider the Sapphire Pulse 7800XT, which is a two slot, two fan design to help make room for the extra fans to help balance out the exhaust at the top? I haven't really found a straightforward answer to this question for a case with this kind of cooling configuration (as most people do mid tower builds) and would definitely like to hear opinions. 3) Adequate fan / RGB headers As a follow-on to the previous section, the ASRock B650M Pro RS Wifi motherboard comes with 1 CPU fan connector, 3 chassis fan connectors, 1 RGB header and 3 ARGB headers. Some of my fan configurations call for as many as 6 case fans and 1 CPU fan, all potentially with RGB. Ideally I would like to have my fans controlled by the BIOS and set my fan curves that way, and I would also ideally like to have all my components' RGB (which may include the graphics card if I choose the Nitro+) synced up, with only 3 or 4 headers to make use of. I do know that fan controllers do exist, but I am waaaay too novice to know what I need in this department. Am I just short on headers, or is there a solution that allows me to keep the motherboard I've chosen while allowing me to control the fan speed and RGB how I'd like? 4) GPU size and the AP201 case Like I mentioned above, the Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT is a big three slot, three fan design that is 320mm long. It TECHNICALLY fits in the case, but am I going to need a bracket for sag, does the case even support that bracket, and am I just being too ambitious in the size of the card here? Should I just go for the 280mm long Pulse 7800XT instead and save myself the headache? And if in the fan discussion above, it is determined I do actually need bottom intake fans, will the Nitro+ give me enough clearance for those? 5) Monitor recommendations I'll keep it simple: 1440p, soft ceiling of 180 Hz (since I don't really care or need to have refresh rates beyond that, but willing to go beyond if it happens to be a cheaper monitor), would like to be able to turn it long-ways if I want to, low-latency, good colour/contrast, reasonable IO, IPS preferred, and as budget as it can be (not interested in spending a crapton on a monitor. I was shooting for around $300 CAD, but I can go higher if the monitors just aren't good). I just have no idea what I'm doing in this space, and the Acer monitor in the parts list is my best guess at a good monitor for my needs. I know that this is a whole lot of stuff, and I hope the community can help. Thank you very much in advance, I am a very excited (and enthusiastic!) new builder who is a bit of a perfectionist when wanting to get everything together in a new project. I also welcome general suggestions on my build if you have a personal preference one way or another.
  2. Built my first rig during lockdown, thanks to the LTT crew and forums for all the knowledge! Haven't stopped building since, the only parts left from the original build are 3 LL fans and 2 sticks of ram. The res, cpu and gpu blocks have the rgb tied to respective temps. Already thinking of ways to clean up the loop and dreaming of hard line copper! TUF b550m 3800x w/ corsair block 32 gb G. Skill trident z rgb @ 3600 mhz EVGA 3080 ti FTW3 w/ alphacool block Corsair hydro xd5 res pump combo 2x xspc ultra thin 240 radiators 1 dracaena 120 radiator 3 corsair LL120 fans 2 noctua slim 120 fans 2x Samsung 980 m.2 1tb,2tb 2x sata ssd 1tb,2tb Anyone thinking of the Thermaltake tower 200 I'm loving mine. Fits matx and you can just fit an ultra thin rad with 15mm fans behind the back panel if you remove the hard drive cage and offset the rad to route the tubes.
  3. I'm building a PC with a Gigabyte 4070 and a Noctua NH-D15 cooler, and I'm looking for a mATX case to fit all components, what would you recommend? I also have low-profile RAM, so that won't be an issue.
  4. Budget (including currency): no more than 9000 PLN (that's polish zloty) Country: Poland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly as a home media and entertainment center, for gaming I'd say BG3, Jedi Survivor, Hogwarts legacy, Witcher3, GOW etc. As for others just for movies, some light excel work, web browsing, music Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm upgrading from quite an old pc, this veteran kept me company for what seems like forever, but sadly my i5-2500k and 8gb of ddr3 ram are no longer viable in almost any gaming use. I upgraded the storage to a 500gb Samsung 860 evo and graphics card to a GTX 1660 Super. I'm planning on keeping my SSD and HDD the SSD will be a dedicated windows drive and the HDD will be for backup and media. I also plan to keep my sound card Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z SE but if it wont fit I'll change it for something like an external dac (Creative Sound Blaster X3) As for displays I'm torn between a 27" and 32" 1440p 144hz monitor. The only caveat is that I'm planning on building a mATX pc as space is not a luxury I have This is what I've gathered after some research: CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 949,00 zł MOBO – Gigabyte B650M GAMING X AX 819,00 zł RAM – G.SKILL 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL32 Flare X5 AMD EXPO 539,00 zł GPU – Sapphire Radeon RX 7800 XT PURE 16GB GDDR6 2749,00 zł or ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 DUAL OC 12GB GDDR6X 3099,00 zł SSD – Samsung 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe 980 PRO 399,00 zł PSU – ENDORFY Supremo FM5 850W 80 Plus Gold 499,00 zł CPU cooling – Deepcool AG620 2x120mm 259,00 zł Case – DarkFlash DLM21 Mesh White 219,00 zł Display – LG Ultragear 27GP850 NanoIPS 1649,00 zł or Lenovo Legion Y27h-30 1699,00 zł or LG 32GP850-B NanoIPS 1949,00 zł Of course all will run on Windows, probably win 11. These parts come to approx 8200 pln I'd be really grateful for any suggestions

Budget (Unlimited Country: Uk Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming steam only , basic desktop use Other details I already have 850 watt gold sfx psu, gigabyte 6900xt as well as a 512gb m.2 and a 2tb m.2 Im looking into a micro atx build I was thinking Am5 Platform, all air cooled and running linux. I'm just unsure what cpu, motherboard and case...the case especially as I hate glass side panels and RGB. Iv even went as far and looked on AliExpress at there weird and wonderful cases and even test benches but thought Id ask here and see what folk recommend. cpu I, thinking ryzen 7 I will not be over clocking at all on this system
  6. can you switch from an mATX to an ATX without having to buy a new case? (yes, ATX fits in my case.)
  7. For ages, I have looked for a case that is more compact and can fit a matx, a graphics card and have plenty of space for cooling. I have noticed most sff matx cases either only have space for Low Profile GPUs or could only have larger GPUs if mounted vertically. Well now i found the case for me, and trust me I was to get it from this website as well, see in the link below. https://uk.banggood.com/Micro-ATX-ITX-Black-USB-2_0-Office-Gaming-Computer-Destop-Case-PC-Cases-LED-Fan-p-1626469.html?utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=cpc_organic&gmcCountry=GB&utm_content=minha&utm_campaign=minha-gbg-en-pc&currency=GBP&cur_warehouse=CN&createTmp=1 If card removed alot of the unnecessary space i found at the font of most cases and with it being MTAX the height is as small as can be with a ATX PSU making it 270 * 175 * 354mm. Now this case can be shipped to most countries and if you are in the UK you can get free shipping but it is a plain Chinese case. Just thought id post it to save someone ease searching for one as I did. If anyone has any other ideas, please post here as well.
  8. Hello Guys, Does an ATX motherboard fit into this case?: One Force X5 USB 3.0
  9. Hey y'all, I'm starting to put together my own media server with a spare secondary computer I have but I'm worried about the limitations of my hardware. CPU: Ryzen 3 3200G GPU: MSI Gaming 1050 TI Motherboard: ASRock B450M Pro4 Micro ATX or MSI B450I GAMING PLUS AC Mini ITX So I'd like to eventually fill up all six drive slots in the case I already have; but since mATX & mITX boards seem to all have an upper limit of 4 SATA ports, there's extra complications. Max PCIe lanes for the 3200G is 12. As I understand it, GPU would take 8 and an NVMe boot drive would take another 4. My question stems from around how chipset lanes come into play here -- do they get added on top of the 3200G's max of 12, or are they meant to be part of the 12? Option A: Learn/Install UnRaid and boot from USB on mITX, eventually install an M.2 to PCIe3.0x4 riser cable and 9211-4i HBA for more SATA ports Option B: Learn/Install UnRaid and boot from USB on mITX, eventually move drives/CPU/GPU to mATX where 4i or 8i HBA is installed directly into second PCIx16 slot So back to the question -- could a 3200G actually support a GPU, NVMe boot/cache drive, and an HBA in the mATX motherboard? I'm pretty sure if I just did GPU + HBA I'd be in the clear, but I'm still not sure how an NVMe drive fits into this, or if it's even necessary (lots of downloading/writing to drives expected, is that meant to write directly to HDD array or are you supposed to used an SSD in between programs and array?) Thanks!
  10. Hey what matx motherboard should I get for my amd ryzen 5 1600?
  11. Hello! I used a building guide from LTT to build a matx pc in a BitFenix phenom case back in 2014. I’m however not able to find it on the channel. Are some videos eventually removed from the site? I find it a bit weird, since I see that several builds that are older are still there. Are anybody able to find it? It would be very appreciated!
  12. What's started as a slight upgrade to my 2017 build has gone wrong. So wrong. My previous build was - Ryzen 5 1600X - EVGA 120 AIO, push/pull - Asrock B350 Gaming ITX - EVGA 650W White - Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB 2x8 3200 - Gigabyte 1050ti OC - 3TB 3.5 HDD - M.2 SATA 256 - Cooler Master Elite 130, with 2 fans for the radiator, a side 120mm for intake, and the tiny 80mm that came with the case Now, to add some context, I live in a south-american 3rd world country. High import taxes, except for an tax exception on purchases on US for up to U$S 200, 3 times per year. The GPU was starting to deteriorate in late 2018 (random crashes, then started to work only by applying force in one corner, and only posted randomly), and there ain't no customer support here to validate the warranty. So, I take to well recommended GPU expert, well reviewed... who went of the grid and took mine and many other GPUs. That's what happens when there are few qualified technicians. To recapitulate, no decent GPU until mid 2020 when I got a GTX 970 for U$S 70 (hindsight, not a bad deal, considering the current situation), previously was using my father's GPU, a R7 250, but I replaced his for a basic GPU with his permission (he only does basic office work). Was able to play a bit (some compiling an programation, emulation, gaming, tweaking a bit settings, some game didn't work unless I changed res and details), but the low memory was starting to show, cleaned up, at least I had a working desktop. Then a friend started to ask me about getting a new rig, prices, parts, you know the deal, I was hooked. I had some extra money, and managed to snatch a 1660 Super for U$S 200 less than what usually relails around here (shortage has worsened everything), so I was happy. Then one of the people I asked for quotes for my friend, answered weeks after I emailed him... and he was offering a 3600x for US MSRP. Sealed. New. Here. Couldn't pass up. Here's where it starts to go wrong. I update the BIOS to support 3rd gen Ryzen, the system posts... then crashes 10 seconds into BIOS. Try and earlier version. Same. Try going up incrementally BIOS versions. No dice. Changed the RAM kit with one I had laying around at my first try in 2017 but couldn't get to post at full speed. Nothing. Changed the PSU. Nada. The guy that sold it told me to take my time, test it, and then wire him the money or just tell him to get it back (even if I broke the seal, I offered some money to cover it up). After looking up, looks like it was a common thing with some B350. Then I remembered I had another B350 I got for cheap in my first attempt, but was mATX. Could it be the motherboard? It was the motherboard. So I got the system working, the intention was to sell the mATX parts with 1600x, but now I'm selling the ITX, 1600x and case. Got a lousy tin can case, classic mid tower, to house the mATX build and AIO, but after going ITX... it didn't felt right, I usually got the Elite 130 sideways with rubber feet and GPU facing up, over my desktop. Was looking the local market, best I could find was the Cooler Master Q300L but was basically the same size as the tin can. I get browsing, nothing came close to the Elite 130 (it was barely SFF under 20 liters, but I had that case since my previous 2013-2014 FM1 ITX build, and I liked that case). My best guess was the chinese Metalfish S5 that Linus reviewed last year, checked most of the boxes, but had to triangulate China-US, then US to my country via PO box (see previous about tax exempted importing). Wasn't gonna be cheap. And then I chatted with a local dealer, that posts on local forums, and suggested a case in Newegg that never appeared in my radar: the SAMA IM01 for U$S 60. It checked all my boxes, size, compatibility, looked like a slighlty bigger NR200. How come I never heard of this one,? Some reddit post show that it was popular in Vietnam, and was just recently started to sell in the US, is eerly similar to the NR200, but just slighlty bigger to fit mATX boards, and ATX PSUs. I still don't understand how there aren't more post about this case, specially after how well received the NR200 was, this one looks to beat it in paper. So here I am, waiting for Newegg to ship it (let's hope they don't cancel my order because of some fine print). But it if all goes right, this could be my next case for the next 7-8 years or more, as the Elite 130 was before, with even more compatibility and lower price parts (ITX parts, lower profile coolers, AIO, SFX). PS: Sorry for the crappy english
  13. Hey everyone, I'm saving to build my first PC over summer and I've decided I want to make an Intel 11400F, Radeon 6800/RTX 3070 (depending on stock), mATX build. I've used PC Part Picker and there are some compatibility notes that I'm not sure I fully understand and was hoping someone smarter than me could tell me what I need to change if anything at all. I've attached some photos of what I've got. Thanks in advance
  14. GOAL: Budget 1080p/720p gaming PC for 14 year old kid with reasonable upgrade path. QUESTION: Hi. I am helping a friend to build budget gaming PC for her little brother. We are using mostly used parts. I have build several low budget PCs before but I am curious about fan configuration on this one. We are using mATX case with power suply mounting up above motherboard. There are two mounting places on the case for fans, 120mm front with mesh, 92mm at the back. Now, considering the specs I provide down in this post, do you think it would make sense to use both front and back fans as intake, and use the power suply to push out all the hot air up? Or is it safer to use more common configuration with front fan in and back out? I will not be able to test it out myself, since my friend wants to try it on her own and she's on the other side of the country. She did few modifications on her PC so she's not completely unaware but I would rather not make her to run CPU temperature tests or to somehow measure temps inside the power supply. I have already decided on the parts(also I'm working with second hand market here, so I can't exactly go all out) so please don't try to suggest something else unless you see some really big problem. I am only curious about the fan config. 15. Hi. My query is hipotetical. I’m configuring a new PC, a miniITX. So far I bought only the CPU and RAM but before going further with everything else for a mini ITX, I want to check how could I configure a micro ATX instead in order to have more space for future upgradability, especially to add future connectivity such as: USB 4, 10 Gb/s Ethernet, etc... or some retro connectivity such as firewire (I got some old miniDV tapes to capture). My question is about the type of PCIe slots I should be looking for. The most I could find are micro ATX motherboards with 2 PCIe x16 but none with x4. Will it be enough or should I look for x4 PCIe slots only? Thanks.
  16. Hello! Long ass post, sorry. Why did I post something so long as my first post? First time caller, long time listener, and just made an account finally to show off my very first attempt at making something 'mine'. All of this took about 4 weeks, over the summer. Lightly-Edited Thermaltake Core V20 Fans: Intake: 2x Noctua NF-A14 CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15s (I think s) with 2x Arctic P14 PWM PST CO (Edited to actually include the cooler) Exhaust: Core V20 Stock, TT-2030 200mm ROG Strix x570 Gaming-i, with no NVME storage yet, just 4 sata drives. 2200g with some free 2400 ram, to be upgraded to a 5800x+ CPU and some trident cl14-15 if I can find some, 2x8gb My old GTX 780 DirectCUII 3gb, to be upgraded to probably a 3080 or a 6800 when they're widely available, in strix flavor I'd think, their coolers seem to be like, on-purpose. I like over-eningeering. Thermaltake 850w fully modular ATX (right term?) PSU, that is compatible with anything I'll need it for. Ideas: Intake a bunch of air, use the GPU to somewhat contain it's air, build static pressure in the case, vertical flow, cpu and GPU exhaust up into exhaust 200mm fan. Now, some questions, does that big of a hole preclude any SP in the case? Does SP only really apply for CLC anymore, or do modern air coolers and fans make up the difference? Does sectioning off the GPU air from the CPU air better make a difference in fan control/customization/care/we else (the GPu comes pretty close to the window, and the 140 intake on the left mostly goes into the gpu area, creating a column for the gpu fans to intake from, but if that intake fan is blowing the air away too fast, is that aiding or hindering cooling?) heh, I think too much, but I kinda want to design a case out of all these questions/answers. I have a few sketchups, scrawlings of a pandemic-mind. The Madness to the Method: First, The 200mm fan wasn't in the correct area, so I gouged out a bigger, and new, hole for the fan to sit in. My friend Jake came over, responsibly masked, and we build a frikkin computer. He did the vast majority, I'm clearly an ideas-guy, but I learned enough to be dangerous on my own. We build my last computer together, and it was fitting. So the computer was great, and I was wondering if there was any benefit to putting the CPU cooler basically AS the intake. I watched a video of Steve's (not upside-down Steve, sorry) where he reviewed a 200mm CLC rad. I REALLY WANT THIS TO BE A THING, for CPU intakes in these cases. Anyway, my question here would be, does a CPU benefit from having a direct from outside intake, or is the rest of the case dynamics prepping the airflow to be better for cooling? "It depends", I'm sure. Here, you see its on some wooden blocks. I took my daughter out to a construction recycler here in Portland, they reuse old dimensional lumber, real 2x4, so I got one of those and used that wood for the feet. It gives you slivers if you so much as look at it, its horrible, and they don't attach to the case at all. I had to hollow out holes for all 8 thumbscrews for the sidepanels, so in order to maintain it I have to set it off of those on its back and remove each panel, bleh. I wish It had an L shaped back+bottom that everything but fans attached to, and those could-do with a cable to my fan-splitter with a tempered-glass door on the side... muahaha... oh yes, it will be mine... So then I planned... My wife was worried. On my way home I topped by a helpful place and got only 3 tools for my entire task. Okay, so I needed to fabricate a motherboard tray, and so I cut it out of the back of the case. This let me rivet it to the box I showed in the sketchup drawing earlier. I needed a sense-check to make sure the cord 90/angle adapters would have clearance. I'm mostly just hoping they do here. This poor case... Bottom left and the right hand picture include about 10 hours of work. No joke, it wasn't aligned at all when I first did it so when I tried to attach the motherboard It was bending too much and there were some nasty angles... Ugh. So then I rebuilt it much better, more deliberate bends and rivets, and the whole thing is WAY more secure, so that's good. Over-engineer it. Here, you see the intake and the exhaust in-line with each other. I really want to make that a thing in any future ideas I have. The cabling in the back is a nightmere. So, since the MB io panel is inside the case, i have to pull extenders through the back of the case where I cut out a few pieces of the case holes there. I really like the whole design but this needs a more elegant solution, especially since its just below the fan, and could induce undue turb. ]Trying my best to do my Friend Jake right with my cabling. The whole case with everything is north of 30 lbs lol. If you stitch these two pictures together, thats the intake. Its two side-panel fan intakes from some business-class salvage and the hole to metal ratio isn't in my favor. I need a designed back-panel if i'm to do it again, which I REALLY want to. Here it is in its near and final form. The red looks handsome with the black, but I am a panda through-and-through. Last, My worry. I'm' going to need a bigger boa-case if I'm to upgrade my GPU. The dimensions just aren't realistic. So, I actually wouldn't mind trying to make a protocase kit, but I would be way over my head on it. I could use the same ideas to prototype some of this and all.. I've been wondering this as a what-else-am-I-gonna-do-hug-my-kid? Any thoughts you have are appreciate. The best thing about this is that, visually, it isn't messed up in any way or form Its on its back, and the cords stick out of the back, and its on wooden stilts that don't attach to it (but have plenty of ground clearance, per Steve). I really wish there was a case that allowed for dimensions that were dual-purpose instead of thinking of them as dual use. Like, have a taller (up from cpu) area there for the AIO yeah, but then also allow for the full width of an AIO up from the MB components so that you don't mess up the airflow around the CPU cooler. One thing I wonder with mine, is that there are such gaps for air to go around the cooler that I don't think its optimized yet, again like the GPU. It would be cool if there could be a silicone flap inside that would rest against an unseen part of the cooler to seal it off. Anywho, I've been playing around with the ram to practice for my new toys. I'm definitely having fun with my late night Frankenstein sessions in my bios. Have fun everyone, and stay well. Sorry you just read that whole thing, ugh. Don't blame me if you hated it.
  17. Hi to you all, this is my first post in the forum! I am planing to make a new build with the new series of AMD Zen3 series, and the NVIDIA 3080FE (when available). I want to do it with the Corsair Crystal 280x case and a mATX mobo. I will also use it for work, and I need lots of RAM, so going with a mini ITX is not an option. My plan is to have 2x 120mm (or 140mm) fans in the bottom as intake blowing directly on the GPU, and a 240mm AIO in the top of the case (+ the 2 stock fans in the front), so the air can follow a "perfect" vertical path. I also check that the 280x legs are pretty short, but I plan to elevate it, as well as placing spacers in the top crystal panel for better air flow. My question is, if anyone has experience with this kind of setup, if the fans in the bottom are compatible with a mATX mobo and the front panel connectors, and if so, if this issue can be solved with low profile fans, like the Noctua NF-A12x15. I tried to check with PCBS, but I don't trust it so much... Also, can you suggest any other case that doesn't have the PSU in the bottom so I can have this configuration? I check that the CoolerMaster Q500L would be an option, but that the thermals are completely terrible... Thanks for your help!
  18. Budget (including currency): Country: Philippines Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: PUBG, ToF, Valorant, League of legends, mid tier games, Web development. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Here's my build plan. Upgrading from i3 4170 with integrated graphics + generic PSU. 1080p 75hz is fine. Heya all! So I replaced my current parts in the partpicker list with the build I'm saving up for. Uh, I wouldn't include my budget since the only parts I'm able to buy atm is the graphics card, CPU and my PSU. Can I ask you guys how is it? Is it enough to play mid tier games with good FPS? Also, the one thing I'm worried about is the compatibility of xeon 1246 with my mobo so please tell me that it's compatible XD. Although I checked the socket already and its compatible, idk about the chipset. The reason I'm going for xeon 1246 is because it's cheaper than i7 4770/4790 and figured I'd just get it due to i7 performance for an i5 price. I'll also include my pc case, can the dual fan rx 570 fit in this? I've searched for it but can't find the model so no reference about the size inside, although I can measure it by myself if there's really no case model online. I'm sorry if it's a noob question, just haven't built a pc atleast once so don't have much experience with it and I want to be sure about the parts so there are no compatibility issues, please have mercy xd. Thank you!!!
  19. Budget (including currency): Not super worried about it, >$100 usd for case, >$80 for used motherboard Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Streaming, 1440p gaming. Other details: Okay, so. My current build is a Ryzen 3 3100, Asrock B450m Pro4, and a Gigabyte Windforce 1650 Super, in the Cougar MG120 MicroATX case. My current build plans are to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600x, a Radeon 6700xt, and use an Intel Arc 380 for stream and video encoding. I also need to have a spare pcie 1x slot accessible for my Elgato capture card. Will it be possible to fit all of this in my existing case? I would ideally upgrade to a B550m that has wifi, but if I cannot fit both cards into my case with room for the other pcie 1x card, I may have to go with a full ATX board. Does anyone have recommendations for a good midtower ATX case with solid airflow and solid sidepanels, that doesn't just look like a rectangular brick? I would also appreciate any motherboard suggestions for Ryzen 5 5600x.

    Tidying up!

So today I decided to finally tidy up my wires after about two weeks since I installed my new PSU. It's not the tidiest, but it'll do for now. Definitely more room for activities now, thinking of putting in an intake fan in the front. This was also to give me an idea as to how feasible a CM Hyper 212 EVO would be. might be a bit tight with my extractor fan sitting right next to my CPU.. Definitely something to think about.

  22. I've chosen the MSI H410M PRO-VH mATX Motherboard for now but if a better one is suggested that may change
  23. Are there any options for a 13th gen compatible mATX motherboard that either don't need a BIOS update or have a BIOS flash button? I really don't want to also have to buy a 12th gen CPU just to update the BIOS and then return the CPU because that just feels ridiculous. The MSI MAG B660M MORTAR says it is compatible on MSI's website, but does it ship that way or is it only compatible after installing update 7D42v17? Is it at all common for manufacturers to begin shipping older products with an updated BIOS to support newer ones?
  24. Hi does this motherboard support USB Type C front panel, I know it has a USB C port at the rear but does it support USB C front panel from a case. Help would be appreciated. (Motherboard is linked)https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-B450M-MORTAR-MAX-Motherboard/dp/B07WC6LLB6/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=matx+amd&qid=1585758940&sr=8-4
  25. This being something I started working on yesterday but was needing some help from someone better suited than myself, me using the Protocase designer tool to make this. I was originally intending on making an mITX case to replace the one I'm using for the pc in my living room, but there was a lot of open space with how big I made this one that I'm shooting for mATX now. I was needing help with some things, and was also hoping to get some feedback on the design. mATX - ITX attempt.pda I really like the idea of having the system shifted to where the graphics card is vertically mounted, and with fans along the bottom, blowing air up through the case, passively exhausting out the top since heat rises. A very important thing I was needing help with is making sure the standoffs for the motherboard are properly lined up with the io panel on the top of the case, something I couldn't figure out for the life of me. Also the insert used for the standoffs were ATX, so I was wanting help with making sure mATX will work. Lastly, when it comes to the top of the case, I don't really know if things line up for the PCI cutouts, I think I might have one too many. Also with the cutout for the power supply, the cutout is for ATX, but I need it to be able to fit an sfx power supply, especially since I need to accommodate the 3.5 drive bracket (SSDs I'm using with this pc are m.2). Another thing I want to note with the PSU, is I'd have the fan facing inside of the case. One other little detail I was needing help with is a cutout for a power button, I'd likely have it placed on the top of the case, as for where I'm not sure. I'm thinking maybe in the bottom right part of that picture where you have the 4 horizontal lines, 3 vertical, then 4 more horizontal, if to the right of the vertical ones.
