So, I just recently got a 2018 Nissan Altima. For navigation and stuff it uses an SD card. 2019 models and up use a different system. Well, Nissan wants you to buy their SD card for $130 plus the small shipping cost. Well, I kinda just want to find the data somewhere and put it on an SD card I already have. Anyone have any ideas on where to find it on the internet? Some tool someone made or to download it from somewhere? There's copying one but I'd need to have a Nissan SD card first do to that. Any ideas or suggestion would be nice. Or if you find it cuz I've been looking.

I am looking for some good software options for an idea I have for a road trip, however what I have in mind will almost certainly not work too well with modern navigation... well anything, I want to drive ALL the way around my state but NEVER once leave my state, no border/state line crossing, no shortcuts to save time - NO OPTIMIZATION. I want to drive the roads that are as close/the closest to my state border for my entire drive, all the while *never once leaving my state (*some exceptions for sleeping can be made but I must return to where I was last). I am currently looking at Google Earth Pro for desktop and (hopefully) exporting/importing the path to my phone for easy navigation in my car, but I want to make sure I use the best tool for my project, especially since (I assume) all modern navigation apps will help you find the best path for you, in my case, there really only is one path I can take but with way too many points to start at. I have seen another thread talking about Google Earth pro and using paths on phones, but I don't think they had much success: Thread: google maps is literally bad and I don't have a built in power outlet to charge my laptop to help me navigate over my phones connection via tethering, and I don't want to wait up to a couple hours to charge it when I could be driving instead; and to all the older people out there saying "Oh! Just use a paper map!", I will not have anyone with me for the entire trip and I don't think I will be able to collect enough detailed maps to follow my path down the many very obscure roads that are FAR less traveled. I don't really have an answer as to why I want to do this, just a stupid idea from the bottomless pit of hellish future planning that my mind tends towards quite often. What do you think? Is there better software I could be using, or even a special site/premade course somewhere within the deep dank basement dust of the almighty search engines? TL:DR I need the most wack navigation/course plotting software out there to follow the path that stays as close to my state border lines as possible, even if that means jumping on and off of any and all freeways/highways(somewhat joking), going down dirt/gravel roads, or even through the most obscure roads that very few travel. sorry for the awful mountain of text, I am awful with wording things and explaining my ideas with few words, once again sorry. -ActuallyNotACanadian

Hi there! I'm supposed to make a map for my geography class and it's been going fairly well, but now I've hit a bit of a snag. I would like to add Symbols to various important locations, much in the way that can be seen on Google Maps. (Example picture below). I've searched the web high and low for them but i can't seem to find anywhere to download them. I've found older versions / symbols from other maps, but none of them are as sharp and well made. Now, my question is: Do you happen to know where i can download the Google Maps legend symbols? (<<< TL;DR) Thanks in advance

In a small update Google has release for Google Maps for android, when displaying a set of instructions Users can now get a street view of every road your supposed to turn on to. In a quote from the Verge: "It’s a small change, but it could make a difference at confusing intersections or for people (like me) who are very bad with street names. The change was spotted by Android Police." The function only displays thumbnails to tap into and it not quite something to use in a car. For now, Its only available for Android but iOS should get it soon. Original Article from the Verge: https://www.theverge.com/2017/5/12/15629756/google-maps-street-view-directions-ui-change

Hey all, I'll be going on vacation in a few weeks, making a 7 hour trip. My car doesn't have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and I'd like to use my iPhone SE for GPS and traffic monitoring. I have a phone mount that hooks to my air vent, so I can see the screen whatever phone I put into there. However, I was wondering what would be the best day to maintain the iPhone battery life. Would it be better to: 1) Use the iPhone SE hooked up to a car mount while using an app like Waze, Google Maps or Apple Maps with the screen always on 2) Use the iPhone SE as a Personal HotSpot and use an older phone I have as the GPS. I have an LG Leon that I wiped, so it doesn't have anything extra running on it. I guess it comes down to whether my battery will last longer as a HotSpot or if the screen on/GPS on will be better. Any input or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Is there any official way to find a midpoint in Google Maps e.g. I want to open new offices and I want to see which is the most convenient for everyone to get there, taking into consideration the traffic.

Hey y'all, running Windows 10 on a Dell Latitude 12 Rugged (7202) and like the Windows 10 offline maps but it doesn't seem to use my GPS. Its only getting my location via wifi, not very good at all... Other GPS apps like map sphere work using the GPS on COM PORT 1 but I can't figure out how make Windows 10 maps use the GPS. Thanks!!

So, this may seem like a really stupid question . I'm new to VPN's, Bought one today (Using the LMG link of course!) due to my ISP emailing me, making sure I knew, that they knew, what i was doing, and how much i was "downloading" (I stream twitch a lot, youtube etc) And it's in the hundreds of gigabytes. Now, if i search my ip, or a whois, the VPN is working perfectly. However, If i go into google maps, and do a gps search from "my location" It knows exactly where I am. How can this be?

My street name is missing from google maps. I have repeatedly submitted updates using report a problem for my street which has been an unnamed road for nearly two years. I ended up doing most of my development most of which worked. If there is anyone from google maps team in the forum? Or can anyone help?

Summary Google has started to roll out updates to its very popular navigation software, Google Maps. The first, most noticeable update is the new color-mapping algorithm. As you can see from the image above, the colors on the updated maps are more vibrant and it is much easier to see the different features. If you want more comparisons, go to The Verge (linked below). This will be coming to all users in the coming weeks. The other update is more detailed streets. You will now be able see more precise locations and other street features like crosswalks and pedestrian islands. Take a look at the image below to see some changes. This will start in New York, San Francisco, and London in the next few months and eventually to all cities around the world. Quotes My thoughts Nothing too major but it is cool to see how detailed they can get these maps. Im guessing the updated streets will take many years to reach every city but will hopefully come to most major ones in a year or two. It really is cool to see how much more detail they can get in these maps without even needing to change the satellites used. The difference is very much visible and all it took was a new algorithm (even if it was likely very complex). Sources The Verge CNN

If you don't know already, Google keeps a record of when and where you've been if you have Google Maps open or if you use an Android phone (I don't think this is an issue on Iphones, I don't have one to test). Good thing is, you can delete it, bad thing is, you can only do so one date at a time (and each date takes 3 clicks to delete) so it takes ages to delete all of it by hand. I got a bit annoyed by this today and (after I couldn't find any good auto-clickers online that also move the mouse) I decided to make my own with AutoHotKey (btw, this was the first time I used AutoHotKey, so I'm sorry if the script is messy) Few things to do/note before you open the script: Once the script is started, you can not use the mouse. To stop the script hold down P (it is a little un-responsive, but it shouldn't take more than a second) If for some reason you can not stop the script, signing out of windows (with Ctrl + Alt + Del) also stops the script. The position of the buttons is hard-coded because I could not figure out how to use variables. If the script is clicking in the wrong places, you can either a) set your monitor resolution to 1080p and see if it works, or b) change the values inside the script. (check out the last section of this topic) Go to the Timeline and click on the newest date that has some location history (highlighted in blue) Hit Ctrl + G to start the script (it will delete that day and then move to the previous day) Sometimes the script will get out of sinc or Google will not delete a date (as far as I could figure out this would happen at random, with or without the script running). If this happens, hold down P, go back to the date that was missed and hit Ctrl + G again. (it might need to be deleted a few times) You can not recover the location data after it is deleted. After you are done, reload the page, click on the selected month, select "Month - all" and scroll through the timeline to check if you've deleted all of it. How to run the script: Install AutoHotKey Right click on the desktop, select New - AutoHotkey Script Right click on it and select Edit Paste the text in the 'spoiler' inside of it, save and then right click - Run (You may need to run it as administrator) As you can see, the script is very basic. I would've liked to add variables for the button positions and possibly even a color/image check to find the exact position of the buttons, but I didn't have a lot of time and this script works well enough, so whatever How it works: It checks if the key combination Ctrl + G is pressed and triggers the loop In the loop, it checks if the key P is pressed and if it is, it stops the loop It then moves the mouse towards the bin icon's position, clicks once, then moves slightly to the left and clicks again. This is because dates with more location data have a scrollbar and it moves the bin button to the left. (It also jitters the mouse before clicking because Google has an algorithm that checks the movement of the mouse before it presses that button, but it seems that adding two 'fake' movements in the vague direction of the button (even if their position values are hard-coded) is enough to trick it. (great work Google ;p)) It then waits a little bit and does the same for the confirmation dialogue, then clicks on the previous day button and loops back to the top. If the script is clicking in the wrong places here's what you need to do: Go to the Timeline and hover your cursor over the bin button. Hit Ctrl + F and take note of the values inside the dialogue box. Find the section of code that says ";Click on Bin Icon" Find "Click, 579, 352" (the first click command) and replace the first number with the X value from the dialogue box and the second number with the Y value. Do the same for the second click command, but this time subtract ~20 from the X value Now find the two MouseMove commands above the click commands and set their values to the first click's position, but this time add and subtract from both the X and the Y values a random number between 50 and -50 (eg. If your X value is 10 and your Y is 40, you would set the first move command to something like "MouseMove, 60, -10). Be pretty random, these values should not break the script. Go back to the Timeline and now click on the bin icon, and once the confirmation dialogue has appeared, hover your cursor over the "Delete Day" button, press Ctrl + F and paste those values inside ";Click on Confirm" just like you did at step 4 (note, this time there is only one click command and you don't need to subtract 20 from X.) Find the MouseMove commands of the ";Click on Confirm" section, hit Ctr + F and change them as in step 6 Go back to the Timeline and hover over the Previous Day button (to the left of the bin), hit Ctrl + F, and follow steps 4 & 6 (or 7 & 8), but inside the ";Click on Previous Day". Your script should now work

Google records your location even when you tell it not to
HungoverRabbit posted a topic in Tech News
A team of Princeton researchers has confirmed AP's claim that Google records users location data even when "location history" is paused. It seems that the only effect of pausing location history is to stop users, and not Google, from seeing where they have been. To be honest I would prefer if Google was more upfront about the quantity of data they gather instead of giving seemingly useless options to disable/pause "Location history"; definitely now that consumers only have the choice between Android and iOS. I need to get latitude/longitude coordinates for a list of addresses. I figured I could just import my addresses into Google MyMaps from Google Sheets and then download a new file as .KML which would have the coordinated but that didn't work out. It turns out the .KML (which is just a renamed .XML) doesn't have the coordinates. It seems to me, google only includes the coordinates data for points that were manually added by clicking the map and not if they were imported in bulk. For the bulk data, there's only the info I uploaded myself. Is there some other service that gives you coordinates for addresses or is there a way to force MyMaps to do this? EDIT: I found Google's API for this: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/geocoding/start?csw=1 Looks like it'll take a line or two of code, which is a line or two more than what I have time for now. I'll look into it tomorrow. If anyone comes up with suggestions, I'm all ears, I'd rather not python in the morning. What with the If Coffee=False Then brainFunction=False

There will be 12 multiplayer maps on launch for Star Wars BF3 including the ones from the planet Sullust. "You may remember that in Return of the Jedi, Darth Vader mentions to the Emperor a rumor that the Rebel Fleet is gathering near Sullust. Well, in Star Wars Battlefront that planet is now imagined as a rather hostile location with "black sharp rocks, huge land shifts, red lava, turquoise lakes, and white smoke". The development team at DICE traveled to Iceland to get some references photos of the terrain for use on the Sullust map." Article: http://www.windowscentral.com/star-wars-battlefield-will-have-12-multiplayer-maps-launch-including-sullust Sorry if this is a repost. I did search but I am on my phone.

So, i wanted to look up something on maps and went to use bing maps. It then suggested that I try the new preview bing maps. Heck YEA! why not? It's different and neat from the previous version. Seems similar in ways to google maps and also different with certain designs. Take a look. http://www.bing.com/mapspreview

Google introduced Project Sunroof, an easy way to test if your roof is suitable for solar panels. It is currently only available in the following cities: San Francisco Bay Area, Fresno CA and Greater Boston MA. Source: http://www.google.com/sunroof I think it is a great way to get an idea about how effective the solar panels would be on your roof and hope that it will also come available in other places around the world.
