So....... I changed hardware on one of my server pcs and had to reactivate windows. No big deal. The server uses the same account as my other pc so a weird thing happen that either is some crazy magic or is actually sapposed to happen. The desktop backround that is on this pc.... automatically set itself as the desktop backround on that pc and it does not even have to file... is this normal or...weird

Much to the despise of many people, I do honestly love Apple keyboards. So yeh, I'm looking at being able to use one of their Magic Keyboards with Windows 10. I have a few concerns: What's the native compatibility like? Will Windows get along with it fine or will I need third-party software? I'm assuming it won't work in the BIOS/pre OS initialisation? Will I have any grief with function keys? Basically, does anyone actually have any experience with using a wireless Apple keyboard on Windows 10 or know of the guaranteed issues/problems I would run into?

Magic Task Manager? Someone Explain This!
CykelStativet posted a topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
BACKSTORY: So.. I'm new here. Signed up just to tell my story. Forgive me if this belongs somewhere else. Anyways, I have a simple server. Just old hardware functioning as a NAS. For good measure I'll list the important hardware: i3-2120 3.3GHz 4Gig's of RAM 3 HDD's This runs on Windows Server 2012R2 and functions perfectly for my needs, which are SMB shares. I access this server only with Remote Desktop when necessary, however I notice that everything runs EXTREMELY slow. Especially Windows Explorer. The funny thing is that browsing the shares on any other PC runs smoothly, even though the shares are on the slow server. INTERESTING STUFF STARTS HERE: So one day while using Remote Desktop I noticed, by coincidence, that while Task Manager was open in the background, everything seemed to run smoothly. I started testing this. I closed TM and navigated Explorer. Now it was slow as balls. Then I opened TM again; everything runs perfectly. WHAT?!?!? I have tested this extensively now and can only conclude that my Task Manager is magic since this works every time. I now have Task Manager running in the background all the time with refresh speed set to "Paused" and everything runs smooth like butter.- 10 replies

I'm trying to find a way to disable the weird acceleration of an Apple Magic Mouse in macOS Sierra. Currently when using a magic mouse if I try tracking slowly to click on a small icon or place the cursor in a certain word in text or something, the mouse tracks incredibly poorly and makes it very hard to accurately click, which I've learned is due to it's acceleration curve. I've tried SteerMouse (which apparently doesn't support magic mice), SmoothMouse (which doesn't support Sierra), and this terminal command (which didn't seem to work). Any other ideas that I might try? Also, please don't suggest getting a different mouse or using Windows. I use a mac at work along with the magic mouse they provided. I used to use my personal Logitech G900 at work but it broke last week.

How did I download a 9 year old unpopular series (Winx Club, don't ask), at 6.9MB/s in my own language (Dutch)? If you answer correctly, you are as awesome as the universe, and of course you get an overdue internet cookie!

A few weeks ago, I swapped out my 4770k for a 4790k because I had gotten one super cheap. The differences were not worth it to me, so I moved back. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to quite capture the settings I had used properly once again. In order to maintain the same speed, I have to change my core voltage mode to static (from default adaptive) otherwise the CPU overvolts itself to 1.36v and melts down, whereas I am asking it for a stable 1.275. My question is this: I believe I had set the voltage mode in the bios to offset mode before I swapped out the chips, so that the voltage would still scale with performance but would not go beyond my target, however, when I try it this time around, I cannot even boot into windows. I reset the bios back to default to make sure no settings carried over in between, and yet the problem persists. Due to static mode, the cpu is staying at 1.275v all the time, and while idle temps are staying at 35c, I would like to reduce it if possible. Any help? Edit: To be clear, 1.275 is the voltage that is stable at the 4.5ghz I had before. I just cannot achieve that voltage steadily without using static voltage mode.

Hello to everyone! I hope You are having a great day/night! So, regarding my problem, I have searched hours for now and I simply can't find a solution relevant to my situation, so any help will be Highly Appreciated! I recently got a switch, and used my old PC as a file/movie server. I also want to be able to turn it on from shut down remotely, via Magic Packet. The way I have everything set up right now goes like this: The Modem (which is also a router), and then the switch is connected to that modem (Also I forgot to mention, it's an unmanageable switch), and then my server connected to the switch. Since the switch is unmanageable, the IP addresses given to all the devices connected to the switch are basically controlled and given by The Modem/Router. Now, I also have a wireless router (with stronger signal) connected to that same switch, and the goal here is to send a magic packet from that second router to the server connected one level above. The Modem/Router is giving addresses 192.168.100.XXX to the devices connected to the switch, and so the file/movie server PC is 192.168.100.77 (Static IP). The second router connected to that same switch gives out IP addresses 192.168.2.XXX. However, the problem here seems that a Magic Packet cannot pass through that router to the switch, and hence the File/Movie server can't be turned on. This is not the case when I am connected to the Modem/Router, then the Wake-On-LAN works, but if it's possible, I would really like to be able to turn it on when I'm connected to the second Router (higher wireless signal). In addition, connecting the File/Movie server to the second router is also not an option for me due to transfer speed reasons. :\ Any help would be really much appreciated, because I have been stuck on this for a while now and I can't seem to figure it out. Looking forward to all of Your replies! Thank You in Advance! Have a nice Day/Night!

I'm planning to get a gsync monitor, but besides my desktop pc i would also like to connect it to my intel laptop and my old nvidia notebook. Gsync obviously only works with gsync compatible devices such as intel notebooks, but does the monitor work without gsync if a non gsync capable device is connected to it? Or does it flat out not work? I haven't seen anyone ask this so i thought i might aswell

Hello everyone. My gaming computer released the magic blue smoke today when I plugged in a faulty DVI cable into the onboard graphics. ~~IF ANYONE HAS AN ASROCK Z77 EXTREME4, PLEASE TRY TO GET A GOOD PHOTOGRAPH IF THE PARTS NEAR THE HDMI PORT~~ This cable had given me troubles before when I used it on my normal graphics cards, but the cards just simply shut off instead of exploding things. I decided to mark the cable as defective using the Photonicinduction method that way I wouldnt mix it up with my other 50 spare cables. Anyway, when the cable was plugged in, after about 10 seconds I smelled the smell that we are all so unfortunately familiar with. However, the PC kept going. My eyefinity monitors weren't disturbed, and the audio I was playing continued to play. I shut the machine down immediately and unplugged the cable once I smelled smoke. Is this machine still safe to operate? Or should I desolder and replace the blown component? I have had SMD soldering experience. If I desolder anything, what should replace it? The failed component appears to be D8, a diode? Other parts on the board seem to be labeled "LNW 24" but have different designators. I have some low-tech marco photos of the only visibly failed part as well as the annihilated cable in a .zip file, and they can be found full size here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-LjUeh-cirIeVJTbEYwa1pUMnc/view?usp=sharing Motherboard is an Asrock Z77 Extreme4 if anyone has the same board. Thanks!! Note, this is the same post as here where more photos can be found: http://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/my-motherboard-released-the-magic-blue-smoke!!!/ please let me know if cross posting is not allowed. Edit: It works! Thanks everyone.

Optional reading: A few days ago, I encountered an adware by Open candy detected by Malware bytes.. I decided to do a reformat because it was about time I cleaned out my computer. I also did a some researching and how you can get it through the new versions of utorrent (3.0.0 and above). I decided not to put it on my main computer and all was well. I installed my essential programs and did another scan just to make sure. All worked well. (Steam, origin, games, flash, reader, afterburner, realplayer, vlc, chrome, firefox, teamspeak, skype, display fusion, MSE, corsair drivers, razer surround. and other drivers) A few days later, I installed magic disc iso because I had an office 2007 ISO. I installed that fine. A few days after, I decided to do another scan. I realized that there were 2 open candy on my computer. I highly doubt it would be the 2007 and I have been using magic disc iso for a while now. In the end, I still hate having Open candy on my computer. Important reading: Thoughts on magic disc iso and I was wondering if anyone else have encounter problems with magic disc iso containing adware. Thoughts on Open candy Wondering if anyone knows any trustworthy and reliable and good ISO mounting program

Hi guys, So I've been playing this game a while and I can't figure out how to do one thing in it and I thought I'd ask here since Google isn't being helpful. There are magic abilities in the game that hit multiple squares and thereby enemies. I've seen the AI, both as my characters using auto-battle, and as the enemies, have the center of such magic be an empty square. I don't know how to do this manually while I play though. Example: 4 enemies are in a cross shape but none are in the middle as such, _X_ X_X _X_ Where _ is empty space and X is an enemy. And the magic hits squares like so, _X_ XXX _X_ Where _ is empty space and X is where the magic hits. How can I center the magic to the _ in between all 4 eneimes so it hits all of them? This is a very basic thing you can do in most turn based RPG's such as Disgaea or Final Fantasy Tactics. However, I have yet to figure out how to use an ability on a square that is not occupied. I've tried tinkering with all the options in game, but I can't seem to figure it out. And me seeing that my characters can do it when auto-battle is on makes me feel like I should be able to do it as well. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Vitalius.
