I've been using Logitech for around a decade but after a string of Logitech stuff dying and their "support" taking a notable downturn since the last time I've had to consult them I'm not feeling the brand loyalty I've had in the past. Not gonna go into that drama here but suffice to say I'm open to trying a different company for a change. One thing I really enjoyed about the Logitech Gaming Software was that it was quick and easy to make macros or set hotkeys and apply them to either my mouse or keyboard (or both!). Unfortunately the old software doesn't play nice with newer devices and the new Logitech G-Hub absolutely blows. It is far more cumbersome to create macros and even setting hotkeys on a mouse takes multiple screens (top and side buttons) instead of one screen to handle both. Like I said, its ACTIVELY worse than the old software. So I'm in the market for a new keyboard and mouse but before I find one that suits my needs I figured I'd check what their gaming software was like. Which brands do you recommend for their gaming software and which brands have you tried that you wouldn't recommend? Please note I am not looking for recommendations on specific keyboards or mice, I'm looking for recommendations on brands to shop for keyboards and mice based on the performance of their gaming software. Thanks!

I have a Redragon Yama K550RGB-1 and was wondering if it is possible to run powershell or bash script with the macro keys. The manual says you can record keypresses, and I have done this, but then the speed of execution is limited to how fast I can type. With a script, the actions could be executed immediately.

Hi everyone I have been using my Logitech G15 for a few years now and I absolutely love it. The LCD,the USB passthrough, the built in media controls, the macro keys and the windows lock button are awesome. The one thing I don't like about it is typing, which is kind of important for a keyboard. Generally it is just fine, especially for gaming it doesn't really matter, but when I'm typing large documents for school it really just doesn't feel nice to type on. It is too soft, heavy unresponsive and uncomfortable to type on. I have already accepted that there is no keyboard with the same kind of awesome built in lcd screen but I really want to keep my macros and USB passthrough if possible. Nowhere can I find a keyboard that fits my criteria, even if I were to have no budget limitations. The old corsair K95 had everything but the lcd screen but I can not for the life of me find one used in the Netherlands and obviously it is no longer being sold new. The absolute most I can spend on a keyboard would be 100 euros but that is really a lot for me and would have to be a product I know I can use for the next 5+ years. Do you guys have any recommendations? I do really want it to be mechanical, preferably with brown or blue switches. TL;DR Want to replace G15 but keep macros,USB passthrough and media controls with a brown/blue switch keyboard. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Is there a way to trigger a function when a specific input box of a desktop application is changed, just like in JavaScript onchange event. Either with ahk(autohotkey) or through some other means/application. Plz let me know. By the way I love your YouTube channel and you guys all.

Just saw this thing on randomfrankp's channel: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B092HTZZWM?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=randomfrankp-20&linkId=da316abc0d282607f88aeca0d707d8c7&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl It looks like a simple, cheap yet powerful device. Seems like something Taran would use. Thoughts?

yo ltt-ers im looking for some help or maybe even just an explanation on a problem ive been having. i recently purchased a corsair k57 rgb wireless keyboard and mainly picked it for the 6 mapable macro keys on the left side. i was planning to use them for OBS hotkeys to quickly do things like turn off my webcam or mute my microphone without having to alt-tab and ruin the immersion of the stream and whatnot. however, the macros work exactly as intended until i tab out of OBS they just dont do anything unless im tabbed into OBS which kinda defeats the whole purpose of the macros. an explanation or fix would be very much appreciated. thank you for your time! (also my hotkey setting in OBS is set to never disable hotkeys)

Hello o/ this is my first post and I hope this is the right place to ask. I own a Roccat Ryos MK Glow and would like to trigger macros/the secondary function without having to *hold down* the Easy-Shift-key. The driver-software doesn't seem to support that functionality so I hope someone here has an idea what file I could edit to change that.

So, I recently decided to set up a 2nd keyboard for macros, and while there's already a lot of documentation on the topic (I recommend Taran's GitHub page on it), I didn't find any on NotEnoughHotkeys, which is actually a really good, easy to use (and open source too!) alternative to LuaMacros (albeit a bit less powerful), so I decided to post my findings here for anyone who might find them useful. As said in the title, my main focus will be integration of this program with AutoHotkey (AHK), since there's already plenty of documentation, tools, and user-made macros for it already out there so it's really practical to make whatever tool you're using just trigger AHK scripts. It's worth adding that I'm a begginer with AHK, so I won't go into too much detail with it. Short tutorial: TL,DR; in case you just want the gist of it: Download and run NotEnoughHotkeys Identify the keyboard you want to use as a macro keyboard in it Separately, create an AHK script (that will be the performing the actual macros) with roughly the following structure: ; Things that go at the top of most ahk scripts like SendMode var := A_Args[1] ; Saves the (first) command line parameter passed when the script was called in a variable if (var = "action1"){ ; Your macros... } else if (var = "action2"){ ; Another macros... } ; The rest of your macros... Inside NotEnoughHotkeys, create a new macros set to launch process, with process to launch set to the AHK script you created in the previous step, and arguments set to some string you want to use to identify it. In the AHK script, for it to run whatever set of actions you want when you press the key you just designated, just put the same you just put as a command line argument inside the corresponding if (i. e., if you want to set a hotkey to mute your mic, you might put muteMic as the argument on the macros in NotEnoughHotkeys, and in the AHK script you'd have if(var = "muteMic"){; macro code...}). Repeat for as many hotkeys as you need. IMPORTANT: in your AHK script, you shouldn't have anything that keeps the script running (like an actual hotkey with {key}::), because that might cause several instances of the script to be open (you can add #SingleInstance force at the top just to be sure). After the long tutorial I go for some pros and cons of this method. Long Tutorial: So, the initial setup of NotEnoughHotkeys (NEH from now on) is really easy (and the reason I like this program so much), you just download it from its GitHub page (you can click on newest release and download the .zip if you don't understand all that building stuff on the main page), extract the .zip, and launch it, it's an standalone app so no install needed. You should launch it as an admin since not doing so might cause issues, but the program warns you if you don't do it anyways so it's easy enough to remember. You will be greeted with a window like this (obviously without the macros already created): Pretty self explanatory UI: Click on Select and then press any key on the macro keyboard to identify it as such, the + is for creating a new macro, the trash bin for deleting an existing one, the pencil to edit one, the enabled tickbox lets you turn it on/off without needing to close the app, settings opens a little window with just one setting (launch at startup), and quit and minimize to tray do as they say. The i gives you some info on the kayboard you selected as a macro keyboard, but I haven't needed it so far so don't worry too much about it. The create/edit macro window is also easy enough to understand: Do keep in mind that you need to press the hotkey on your main keyboard, and that currently NEH only supports single key hotkeys unfortunately. This is good for typing strings and... not much else really. NEH doesn't currently suport modifiers (ctrl, shift, etc.) either, so it's very limited. So making it fire macros programmed with AHK (like with the LuaMacros to file in disk to AHK hackery) is much more useful. For that I used the Launch Process option for macros. (Sidenote: Send Single Keycode is pretty self explanatory (sends a single keypress), and I haven't used Send Http Request yet and I'm not really sure how it works either, so if anyone wants to elaborate on that very much appreciated!) So, the Launch Process tab looks like this: Path being the path of the process you want to launch, Arguments the command line arguments the program is going to launch with, and Launch Path the directory in with the process is going to launch (you can generally leave this blank, as it says it'll auto-fill it with the path for the process directory when you save it). This is useful itself to have, say, an open google key, but, you can also launch an AHK script with this method. Now, normally AHK schipts look something like this: (I'm not going too much into AHK syntax and programming, there's already plenty of resources elsewhere for that) ; Stuff that goes at the top of most scripts (SendMode, etc) f1:: Send, You pressed F1! ; whatever else the hotkey does return ; more hotkeys... When you run that, it doesn't actually does anything, rather, it waits for the designated hotkeys to be pressed in order to execute the macro, but we want to execute the macro when the script is executed, since we are calling the script with NEH rather than pressing a key. This can be achieved simply by ommiting the hotkey part and just putting the code (note that this will run all the code). Now, you could just, say, have each macro call its own separate script, but that can get out of control really quickly. That's when the Arguments box in NEH comes into play! AHK scripts can be called with arguments from the command line. Inside the scripts, these arguments are located within the variable A_Args (which is an array). Note that the first parameter is located in A_Args[1]. Since you can call the script with arguments from NEH, you can use this to let the script know what key you pressed, for example: action := A_Args[1] if (action = "muteDiscord"){ Send, ^+m return } else if (action = "applyCoolPremiereTransition"){ ; Whatever this macro does return } Then, in NEH, you can call this script with the argument muteDiscord when you press a key and call it with the argument applyCoolPremiereTransition when you press another. You even can use various arguments to organize your script better if you want, like: application := A_Args[1] action := A_Args[2] if (application = "Premiere"){ if (action = "transition1"){ ; Your premiere macros ... } } else if (application = "Photoshop"){ if (action = "filter1"){ ; Your photoshop macros ... } } And then you just put Premiere transition1 in the arguments box in NEH (arguments separated by spaces). And with this, you can basically assing a macro to every key of the 2nd keyboard. For more information on passing command line arguments to AHK scripts, you can check the AHK help manual (Usage and Syntax -> Scripts (misc) -> Passing Command Line Parameters to a Script). Pros and cons of this method: Pros: Really easy to set up. Easy to manage what key does what action. Great versatility, since AHK is a very powerful macroing tool. Completely free, you just need to have an extra keyboard around and you can set it up. Entirely open-source solution. Cons: Can't use modifier keys (listed as being worked on in GitHub). Can't set macros for more than one keyboard (listed as being worked on in GitHub). You need to identify the macro keyboard everytime you restart. Can be a bit of a pain to manually set a lot of macros. Extras: Setting F13-24 hotkeys for discord (and other problematic programs): One of the known issues listed in the GitHub page for NEH is that some programs still get the 2nd keyboard input. The only offender I've found thus far is Discord when you're in the keybinds settings. So, if you, for example, set a macro for muting your mic and assing it to the A key, when you go to Discord to assign it and press A on the macro keyboard, Discord will record the A press instead of the macro. You can get around this by just inputing the macro manually for the setup (you'd only had to do it once anyways), since after that it works fine, but if you want to use keys that aren't phisically present in your keyboard (like F13-24), it's a bit trickier to set it up. What I ended up doing was the following: I wanted to assing mute to shift + F13 I went into NEH, opened the create macro window, and went to the Send single keystroke tab Selected the F13 key Went into Discord keybinds settings Clicked the Send keystroke now button in NEH went back into Discord, clicked edit keybind, and held shift until the 5 second timer for NEH to send the keystroke ran out. Discord recorded the kaybind properly. If you need to do something more complex, you can probably whip up a temporary AHK script to input the combination if you need it. Easily replacing the LuaMacros file + F24 method with NEH: If you already have the LuaMacros thing set up and don't want to re-write your whole AHK script to fit this, you might not need to! You can just set NEH hotkeys to fire a script that writes to a file in disk and then press the F24 key. I haven't personally tested it, but it should be equivalent to the old LuaMacros setup and thus require zero modification of the original AHK script (but you'd still need to write that auxiliary script to write the file and press f24). It's a bit more convoluted tho. THE END Hope this is useful to someone out there. This is my first time writing a tutorial like this so any feedback is appreciated. Have a nice macroing y'all =)

Hi all, I want to write symbols with tilde (~) on their head. The general command for this is \tilde(a) Now I can define a shortcut if I am using it multiple times. The standard way to do it is to include a line \renewcommand{\t}[1]{\tilde{#1}} in the preamble. Then \t{a} will give me the same result. However I don't want to use the curly braces. What I want is that \ta give the same result as \renewcommand{\t}[1]{\tilde{#1}} I can do renewcommand/newcommand for individual alphabets but was wondering whether I could write a single command that does the same. Does anyone know how to do it? Thanks

Alright so around 3 years ago I bought a launchpad pro, I was trying to break into the music industry, I was okay and in the end it sat on my shelf collecting dust. However since I am now running out of keys for my blender workflow (video editing, 3D modeling, and physics testing), I wanted a macro solution, and I could either spend $50 on a macro pad that only provides 44 keys, or I could dust off my old launchpad pro and theoretically have 536 (520 for other launchpads). I tried midi key2key a free program that allows you could map midi inputs as actions or series' of keys, but it didn't work. I saw a program that did work (NewTek Tricaster software), but the cheapest license was $995... for an educational license. So I did some more digging and found bome midi translator pro, A software that is ~$65 and is a bit difficult to work with (there is a playlist by bome software for tutorials Here), and I know that it works because I have evidence of a man using it for premiere and saying that he was using midi translator to get it working. (video here) but If I could get it to work, since I already have a launchpad pro on hand, that's 536 Macro keys on the cheap and since 65/536=0.12126866 that is effectively $0.12 per macro. Even if you bought a new launchpad mini mk3 for $110, (110+65)/520=0.33653846 ~$0.34 per macro. I am genuinely surprised as to why Taran VH hasn't made a video on it yet, I'm pretty sure he'd be all over it, a shitload of macro keys on the cheap. Edit: LPHK also doesn't work.

Hello, I have a question about macro keyboards. Recently I bought a Numpad and I wanted to make an only macro keyboard out of it. Firstly I used the HIDmacros app. This app was good, it recognizes my Numpad as another device with separate input but it was kind of hard to use. Then I found the Hot Keyboard app which I think is a way easier to use. The only problem with Hot Keyboard is that my Numpad behaves the same as Numpad on my regular keyboard. For example, when I hit number one on my Numpad it's the same number one as on my regular keyboard or when I create a macro you can run it on both the Numpad or the regular keyboard Numpad. Any Ideas on how to separate the innut of these two keyboards in windows? Sorry for my English I'm still learning, Thanks.

I have 2 sets of headphones, one that I prefer to use for gaming and the other is more of my daily driver. If I want to switch between them, I have to go to my control panel > Hardware and sound> Sound > etc, and set my default device for whatever headset I want to use at the time. My question was whether or not I can maybe program a button (F6 for example) and be able to switch between both headsets. My keyboard is a Corsair Strafe so I run on the Corsair Utility Engine as far as Macros or anything like that goes. Also to clear anything else up one of the headphones is wireless so it isn't just a matter of being able to unplug one so it defaults to the other. If anyone has any idea how to do this I would really appreciate the help, thank you in advance!

Hey ya'll. First time poster. I didn't think I needed anyone's help on this but I was wrong, seeing as how I'm not having much luck here. I work a fantastic job as a diesel kiosk manager where I need to constantly go through the repetitive acts of smashing my fingers on a touchscreen hoping to god I hit the correct area, as well as typing in company names fuel amounts and fuel costs for drivers. Currently the keyboard that we use is a Cherry G86-62401EUADAA Compact Keyboard with a questionable layout that's dirty, worn down, and a couple keys are broken. (Kind of expected from 24/7 use of a poor cheap plastic membrane keyboard used by multiple employees) I. HATE. This keyboard. The keyboard's numpad uses a "00" key that we all have gotten into the habit of using, so I'm definitely not looking to break their habits over me not finding the right keyboard. I've been talking to my coworkers about myself simply buying a new one, but something nice. I brought over my RGB K95 to see if they would like a mechanical keyboard and they loved it, and want one for the diesel kiosk. I also showed them how macros could work to make checking out customers easier, and they appreciated that more. I want the best of three worlds here, and I'm not sure if it exists. The closest I could get from my googling was a CM Storm Quickfire TK, however it doesn't have programmable macro keys, and is only available from third-parties at ridiculously high prices. I'm looking for... -Mechnical (Preferably Cherry MX blue or brown) -Has a "00" numpad key -Has programmable macro keys If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. Thank you very much for your time.

my favourite keyboard that I've owned for many years was unfortunately smashed to pieces today after falling off a shelf that was just a little too high. it was a gamdias hermes ultimate, i bought it after watching linus's video ages ago for 2 very specific reasons. #1 it has its macro keys located under the space bar. this allows me to set them to keys like R, C, E, etc. and use my otherwise useless thumb to press keys that my movement fingers would normally be used to press. #2 big dumb comfy wrist rest after searching all the usual places, it doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere anymore. but i need a new keyboard and i don't want to go back to the inferior macro placement of down the left side. do any of you know of a keyboard that has similar features?

I'm looking into getting a 22-key numpad (such as the Leopold FC210TP) to use alongside a TenKeyless keyboard, and was wondering if it is possible to use the numpad as a macro keypad when numlock is off for stuff like photoshop shortcuts, whilst being able to enter numerical values with numlock on. eg: Press 7 key --> Numlock On; outputs number (7), Numlock Off; outputs ctrl+alt+J Press 8 key --> Numlock On; outputs number (8), Numlock Off; outputs alt+shift+ctrl+L And so on... I've never done anything like this before, so I'm looking for help in how I could go about doing so, if it is possible? (or if I'm even asking in the right place?)

Most gaming keyboards have macro keys, which can be used in a variety of ways. How do you guys use your macro keys? For me, I have a Logitech G710+ Keyboard with 6 macro keys, and 3 macro profiles for each key. My setup has profile 1 set to coding macro keys for my editor, and the second profile is used for Discord keybindings.

Hi guys My friend gave me an older keyboard (HP) that I really like typing and gaming on. It has quite a few extra buttons (open browser,play/pause music, email, etc.), but only the volume knob and the standby button work. I think it's because it's an older keyboard. There are also no windows 10 drivers for it, but I know there is a program that lets you assign functions/macros to these keys, but I just can't remember what it's called or find it. Do you have any suggestions?

I recently purchased an Alienware keyboard for work. I wasn’t thrilled about buying Alienware, but it was the cheapest keyboard available with brown keys and a number pad. But it also has 5 macro buttons on the side of the keyboard which I could put to good use. There’s only one problem: To program them, you need Alienware Control Center. AWCC requires Windows 10. Guess who’s work computer is Windows 7 without the option of upgrading? I do have a Windows 10 computer at my house, so my question is: are the macros programmed into the software and you have to keep the program running in the background or can I download the program on my home computer, get everything set up the way I want it, write it to the keyboard memory and use it with the key bindings at work?

Hi guys I have an older HP wireless keyboard. It's really nice to type on and it works very well, my problem is that I want to use the media keys on it, but they don't work on Windows 10. Only the volume knob and mute button work. It has integrated music, browser, media skip,play/pause,disc drive open, email and more buttons. These are all really useful and convenient, but I can't get them to work. Do any of you know how to make these buttons work? Thanks for your help.

Greetings fellow forumers, Some months back I backed a crowdfunding campaign of CHUWI Corebook. I am 34 yo, I've never owned a laptop in my life and I thought that it would be a good idea to have something like this as a backup. I had it for almost 7 months and never REALLY used it. This was until now, since my desktop PC's motherboard has fried. Since I am not really gaming anymore much (parent of two), I decided not to jump ahead and buy new parts right now. Rather I will buy something new each time I find a very interesting deal online. Until then I use the Corebook, which I found really interesting for simple productivity tasks. But this thing it is not without its drop-backs. One of the main issues is the lack of the Insert and Print-Screen keys. This is why I am searching for a piece of software, that I can create new keyboard shortcuts for the Fn key, that the keyboard has. For example I would like: `Fn` + `Del` to register as `Insert`. `Fn` + `Ctrl` + `Del` to register as `Print Screen`. etc. Sidenote: please do not suggest AutoHotKey, unless it's the only viable option. I know that most probably it will get the job done, but I simply do not have the time to learn it. Thank you very much for your time.

So I was chatting with a coworker and he just put on this company called XKeys and they have some products that on the macro end seem interesting like this one. which is a 126 key macro keyboard. Im debating picking one up to play with for my video editing software.
