Hey Guys, Here is a interesting one and I am having problems even finding anything online about it. If you boot a windows 10 setup with a 11th gen, you will notice it doesn't support the drivers straight out of the box, so you need to inject the drivers in to windows. The problem I am coming across is Cloning a older laptop for a person and then dropping that clone on to the new laptop and it wont boot or see the drive because it doesn't have the drivers in that copy of windows that its being cloned from. and sometimes its harder if the computer can't be booted or turned on. (the older one) Any ideas or ways around it? Software being used to clone is Macrium Reflect.

idk last few times i tried it, on several systems it always throws some cryptic errors , on one machine it outright refused to make a backup whatsoever... So today i made a backup of my pc's os drive... of course also got a weird error (forgot something about it cant read something... doesn't make any sense... and then continues on anyway...) and it placed a "G:(recovery drive)" on the target disk besides the MRIMG file its actually supposed to make... So what do i do with this folder now and i hope that isnt my actual recovery partition i kinda need that on my pc and not a random backup drive... pretty sure i will not use this software again but yeah... how do i remove this recovery partition now and how do i make sure its actually intact on both my os drive and the backup image? also note: it put this recovery partition on the target drive on another attempt where i canceled it because it threw several nonsensical errors... so this shouldn't have to do anything with the current backup...its still confusing why its even there

Hi I'm hoping someone's come across this issue before and can help point me in the right direction as I'm a bit stuck. My current gaming/workstation rig has an i7-6850 and I've used it for many years without a hitch. But it's due an upgrade and so I'm moving to Team Red with a 3rd gen R9 CPU and Mobo. I customise my systems quite a lot, but I want to do a fresh install for the AMD platform. So the plan was to image my boot partition (100Gb) and then port it to VirtualBox so I can fire it up whenever I want to refer to the old install then trash the old VM after 6 months or so. I've tested it so far by: 1. In Windows, create a 100Gb VHD File/Drive 2. Use Macrium Reflect to create the .mrimg image 3. Use Macruim to restore the image to the new windows VHD drive/file from (1) 4. Unmount the VHD File/Drive 5. Attaching it to a new VirtualBox Machine set up as my "snapshot" 6. Start the VM with Networking off to prevent a DHCP conflict On my i7 machine it boots up and runs no problem, but when I try it on an AMD PC I have, it fails to run. (3rd Gen R7 CPU) I'm getting BSOD on boot-up with: AsiO.sys But it does start up in safe-mode + networking In my mind this points to drivers, but I don't know which drivers it's looking for or if it's because of the AMD Chipset and in which case how to get AMD drivers installed. Any advise welcome.

This question is for all of those who use software on a routine basis to manage hard drives, by either copying/cloning, migrating from one size drive to another, using multiple operating systems, and backing up all files to images or otherwise. I am looking for the best utility in the industry, I am sick of having to resort to using multiple tools to accomplish what I try to do when it comes to managing hard drives for my clients. Basically, I use the Disk Management tool by Microsoft extensively, however it has it's limitations and does not do a hell of a lot when it comes to resizing, cloning, and etc. If I can't do what I'd like to do with DiskMan, I will use either Minitool Partition Wizard, or EaseUS Partition Master. I have also used Macrium Reflect (i like this one a lot), Acronis TrueImage, Norton Ghost (11.5 seems to be the best version), and even Carbon Copy Cloner and Super Duper! However, when it comes to migrating a certain size HDD that is larger than a destination SSD, I seem to have issues. Like for instance, I'm working on a clients Macbook pro and it only supports up to OSX 10.6.8 which is not only lame, but frustrating because I can't for the life of me get any of the clones working with any combination of utilities that I use. I do happen to have some hardware cloning tools, where I can put the master disk in the first slot and then the destination drive in the 2nd, then hit the clone button... but that doesn't work when the drive is smaller than the original drive. (I know I didn't put clonezilla on here but I just dont like it. I really don't dive deeply into too many Linux programs although I do use LCMint or Ubuntu a lot to recover data from 'failed' drives) That's where this post began to formulate in my head. Why not ask Linus and friends what they think is the best of the best when it comes to migrating larger sized hard drives to smaller ones (especially an OSX drive) There's a good chance that I'll finally get this working at some point, maybe even after I hit the post button... but either way, I think this would be a great discussion to have with all of you and i'm looking forward to hearing some of your input. Thank you very much, hope to hear from you soon!

So, I just bought a new hard drive. I'm upgrading my mass storage drive in my main PC from a 2.0TB one to a 5.0TB one. It's better all around. It's where I keep music, videos, pictures, and games. After stealing an extra SATA cable from my brother's DVD drive, I got to work. However, soon after scouring the internet to find the best cloning software, to get my 2TB drive's contents onto the 5TB one, I encountered an issue. When I installed the suggested program, Macrium Reflect, everything was working fine. Until, at 2% into the clone, every time, without fail, I get this error: Clone Failed - Read Failed - 13 - 32 Why is this? I've tried at least 6 times, each time changing settings, including the advanced settings, and even telling it to clone everything without checks. Still nothing. I then tried to run chkdsk E: /r, but that didn't work either: failing at about 60% the first time and failing when I wasn't watching the second time overnight. Here is the chkdsk copied directly from command prompt: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.14393] (c) 2016 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Any solution to this problem would be worthwhile, as long as it doesn't result in data loss.

I have a 250gb SSD with Windows 10 Pro on it. I will be using the SSD for gaming but will save my games on my HDD. But that's not relevant. How large will a backup image take? I intend to create 1 backup image and then create differential backups of my Windows 10 installation. The backups will be saved on my 1TB HDD but I will have 2 partitions on my HDD. One where my backups are saved and one where my games are saved. Both partitions will be encrypted with Veracrypt. That way if in the middle of me using my PC I get malware, the malware will be unable to infect my backups. If Windows were to take up to 200GB, which I doubt it will. But if it will, how large will the image be? The compression ratio will be high. EDIT I think I got it wrong. I am not sure the difference between incremental and differential. I mean the backup which saves the difference between now and when you created your full backup image.

I wasn't for sure what section this best fitted in, but if another section is best fitted for this thread, please move it. But anyways here is my question: Windows Backup and Restore (Windows 7) vs Macrium Reflect I used to use Windows Backup and Restore when I was running Windows 7. Then Microsoft dropped it in Windows 8/8.1 and I started to use Macrium Reflect. Now fast forward to the release of Windows 10, It now comes with the ability to use the Windows Backup and Restore like it was in Windows 7. My question is now Should I continue to use Macrium Reflect or should I go back to using Windows Backup and Restore (Windows 7)? I am trying to get all my backups on one program so I can arrange them as needed....

Greetings, Has anyone here migrated off a SSD/HDD before? I need some software to help me with this; however they all seem to be paid-for and ridiculously overpriced. Really just looking for consistency and reputability, not speed - would like it to work the first time however I have plans for setting up rescue media. Any help is appreciated.
