Hello Community, I have an old MacBook Pro 15', early 2009 or late 2008 to be exact, and i have the problem that my Bluetooth module is either not working or not installed. I have asked multiple times on the official Apple Website, a Chat with a supporter and a 'Forum Question', or however its called. Both times they mentioned that my Mac was in the category 'obsolete', wich means i can't get support for it anymore from Apple. So i thought that you, the Community, had some ideas on wich adapter i should use. I did some research, but i didn't find anything suitable.

Macbook pro (MJLQ2LL/A) suddenly drained its battery (when it wasn't) charging and last time i checked the cycles were no more than 100. When I try to recharge the with the charger it blinks orange and the macbook does power on for a few seconds, but turns off. and when i try to power it on without the charger there's a red battery symbol and on the bottom two symbols indicating it needs to be charged. my doubts come from if the battery was fried, it wouldn't display at all. So I just want to know if i should replace my battery without buying a new charger, or if there is hope if I do connect a new charger. (really don't want to waste money and i have no warranty to get this fixed. If i can confirm if I have a high chance of the charger being faulty then I would go for getting a new charger and on that note, which cheap but reliable chargers would y'all recommend)

Hi, I am gonna go to college this fall (if things settle down), and I plan on getting a new laptop and selling my current one. I currently have a mid-2015 MBP 15". It has the 2.2 GHz Quad-core i7, 16 GB or ram, integrated graphics and a 256 GB of storage. It currently has some minor dents and both speakers are for some reason starting to fail. I would like to ask you guys how much should I sell it for and where. The charging cable still works but it has a crap ton of electric tape. Thanks!

Hi, Sorry I'm a kind of new here but I'm planning to buy 2 LG Ultrafin 5k monitors and use them with a eGPU, so I was thinking if it would be possible to achieve that connection using: 1. Razer Core X eGPU 2. AMD 64 Vega with 4 Display Ports. 3. 2 x Sonnet Adapter (Thunderbolt 3 to dual DP) to connect one to each monitor. 4. 4 x display port cables to connect from each adapter to the eGPU. 5. 1 x Thunderbolt 3 cable to connect eGpu to macbook pro. I would like to be sure before I decide to buy those monitors. BTW do you know if 2 of this monitors will cause an overheating issue to MBP? Thank you very much :-)

I'm sensing that my 15" Macbook Pro from 2015 is on the decline. Its battery isn't lasting very long on its own, I'm getting random visual glitches (this is the main driver for getting a new laptop as I think the graphics chip is on the way out), and if I don't touch the computer for about 30 minutes (open or closed) it will try to shut itself down. I'm sad because this thing has been great. I've used it to earn my undergraduate engineering degree, and it has taken on every job I've thrown at it. I'm now in graduate school for the foreseeable future, and need a computer that can do more of the same. Budget Same or less than the new 16" Macbook Pro with upgraded CPU and graphics and a 2TB SSD ($3500). One of the main reasons I am considering non-Apple laptops is because of price, so I'm really trying to consider slightly cheaper alternatives. What I like about it Portable/Durable - I take it to and from campus every day and it is as portable and durable as you could ask for. Ports and I/O - This was the last generation to have mag-safe, HDMI, and USB 2.0. USB C may have benefits over USB 2.0/HDMI, but the only device in my life that uses USB C is my Nintendo Switch. Everything else in my life (wireless mice, projectors, etc...) uses either USB 2.0 or HDMI and I'm happy with that. I also hate dongles. The keyboard - It's great because I never think about it, and it has never broken. Hardware volume, brightness, and keyboard backlight keys are excellent. The OS - I realize I'm on the LTT forums, but for school/work, I find macOS is great. It is very easy to keep documents organized and separate from OS and application files (applications don't randomly make folders in the documents folder for example). All the productivity software I run (Microsoft office, MATLAB, Wolfram Mathematica, OmniFocus, Notes app, iTunes, Books app, Preview app, Calendar app, TeXShop, Maps app, messages app, CleanMyMacX, Photoshop CS6 ... ) works on macOS (some of those exclusively so). The spaces functionality, dock, and other multitasking features are ones I use constantly. I have also purchased a lot of audiobooks and tv shows from the itunes store. I know itunes is available for PC, but I'm not sure what would happen to my audiobooks (they live in a separate app in macOS). In short, having to make windows 10 my main OS for productivity would be a big switch. Software ecosystem - alluded to above, but I have all the software I need/want already purchased for macOS. macOS can run all OS agnostic software I need and also some OS specific software that I use constantly (like OmniFocus). Device ecosystem - I have an IPhone as well, and the cross platform features of messages, notes, etc is a big plus. CBI Parallels - I can use Parallels to run any occasional Windows only program. It hasn't been necessary often, but I have that capability should the need arise. Despite all these great things, I am still considering switching to a Windows 10 laptop over my best Apple option, the new 16" Macbook Pro, because of the ports and the price. My budget allows me to buy the 16" Macbook Pro with 2TB memory, upgraded CPU and upgraded GPU, but that computer would cost more than my top of the line desktop gaming rig ($3500) (I fully admit that Windows is better for gaming). What I am looking for in a Windows 10 laptop replacement Priorities Screen size - At least 15" screen, but still as portable as my 15" Macbook Pro Screen technology - I want readability at large viewing angles and high enough resolution that I don't notice any pixels. My Macbook Pro screen is excellent. I never think about the screen because it is never a limiting factor for anything. I am also not chasing a needlessly large/high res screen that will affect battery life. Processing hardware (CPU/GPU) - I need it to deal with lightly threaded but intensive work loads as best as possible (think lightly threaded simulation programs or brute force mathematical guess and check algorithms). I don't do much that is multithreaded. I am not looking for a gaming computer. I already have a desktop pc for that. Higher clock speeds with fewer cores (though realistically no less than six cores) is preferred. Must be able to play large video files with zero difficulty. Should realistically be able to play some games at decent settings (think Minecraft, Half Life games, Portal, Rocket League, ... ) Storage - 2TB SSD ideally, something > 1TB preferred Durability - ideally with the option to get hard shell cases for it (I have one for my Macbook Pro) Non-negotiable ports - 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 headphone jack Battery life - Can run Microsoft office / basic programming environments for most of a day without being plugged in. Keyboard - It should be as good as my current Macbook Pro. I type on it all day and never tire of it. It must be full size and not have excessively light or heavy keys or feel mushy. It should also be reasonably quiet. Hardware keys - volume, brightness, and keyboard back light that don't require pressing the function key to use. I don't care about play/pause/fast forward/rewind. Networking - WIFI and bluetooth are both completely non-negotiable, but I realize it would be hard to find a laptop without them. Optional / Things I'm Considering Ports - a mag-safe style power adapter (this would be really nice), Displayport/mini-displayport Aesthetics - I'm willing to sacrifice here for the sake of ports, battery life, and hardware features. I'm also not really looking for any RGB or gaming branding. Sleek and professional is best. Touch/pen features - If I get a computer with these features, I'd like to be able to write lecture notes in a program like oneNote so I can take advantage of note resizing, straight line drawing tools, color, etc... I will not sacrifice much to get these features though. I am already happy with pencil and paper for most note taking.
