What are the thoughts on M8 UHD Smart Monitor monitor? Wanted to buy one monitor for my work, a little bit of gaming. And work is also related to development (mobile). Is this a monitor worth buying? My only concerns are the connectivity (have 2 mac books pro for work, 13 and 16) and the refresh rate (60hz)

Hello yall! I currently have a HTC One M8. Its getting very old now, but I'm not really aware of what phone is out there. I'm so in love with the quality of the screen (you can't see the pixels, colors are so vivid, never seen a screen comparable), its sturdiness, its perfect weight, its size, its stainless back, etc. But especially the screen and its for that reason I haven't changed yet. My bf has the new Pixel 2, and its nothing like the M8 imo. Its too lightweight and for some reason I can't keep it in my hand lol, i'm having a hard time having a good grip... Anyway, the M8 has served me very well many years, but its time to change. Its getting laggy, camera/light sensor is broken... I paid 250$ used for it and I'd like to find an other deal like this. I'm not willing to go with iPhone. I've seen the new iPhone X, its screen is amazing, but paying over 1k$ makes no sense to me. Is it me or HTC is not sold anywhere now? I can't recall having seen a HTC in a phone booth for a while. My brother had an M8 and thats why I felt in love with it. Sorry for my bad english.. TLDR: Looking for HTC One M8 replacement. Must have same or better screen/sound quality and sturdiness. Not necessarily looking for the most powerful phone, but I'd like it to last me an other 4 years. Want it to be a good overall phone. I'm not very aware of what is out there. Also not looking to pay more than 500$. Very willing to buy used. Won't pay phone monthly. I'm in Quebec, Canada. Thank you

My HTC m8s phone's frame is slightly bent and it is really scratched. I am looking for an aluminum frame (housing, body or battery cover, whatever you want to call it), and i was wondering if i could use the HTC M8 frame on it. Are there any differences in sizes, i looked at a spec comparison and they have exactly the same screen, but there is like a 0.1% screen to body ratio difference. Thanks

My HTC M8S phone running android 6.0.1 is constantly crashing randomly and sometimes I can see the low battery warning for a split second before the screen turns off, but the battery will be at about 50% or under. Whenever it crashes and i turn it back on, my settings will have reset some of the settings. I would be fine if it crashed at 10% or only rarely crashed, but it is happening almost every day! I have looked all over the internet for ways to fix this but nothing has worked! Also, the USB data connection does not work! would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Hello LTT Forums, I have an HTC one M8 phone that i am having trouble with. This morning my phone was working fine until it reached around 75% battery and then I was unable to turn on the phone screen, at the time i was listening to a podcast and even when the screen wouldn't turn on the podcast continued to play, I tried unplugging and plugging my headphones back in but the podcast kept playing even after that. Anyway I have no idea why my phone's screen is unresponsive, when I plugged my phone in when I got home the light that normally comes on when i try to charge it didn't come on either. Please help me figure out what is wrong with my phone, I can provide any information necessary.

I currently use loudness equalization quite a lot with my current sound card but I am having driver issues and I want to get a portable and driverless external DAC. I am thinking about getting a FiiO E10K since it is fairly cheap and driverless. I am just wondering, does the FiiO E10K and other driverless DACs have loudness equalization in the sound settings in windows? I tend to use loudness equalization quite a lot and find it useful. thanks

so yeah got the HTC one m8 yesterday, amazing phones, fast as lightning etc. but the battery seem to be kinda bad... i'm losing around 1% per minute of use. it was at 100% are 14:00 and it's 18:00 and the phones at around 81%. i was watching a movie and every now and then i popped it up to text with my friends on facebook. it's on wifi\data connection all of the time, and i was wondering if that's normal, or is it just the fact that this is a new phone and is downloading a lot of stuff in the background? my battery usage is this: 24% on sense home, 22% chrome browser and another 20% on android system and 20% on a different android thing. so yeah is this normal? i've heard this phone can last a day and even 2 days sometimes so i wanted to see how it is on other people's phone. thanks

Hi guys, It's me again. Just want to know your thoughts between the two smartphones I am planning to buy. Specs, Battery Life, Camera & Music Quality and stuff. HTC One M8 or Samsung Galaxy A5? I am currently having some dilemma on what should I get. HTC One M8 surpasses some of the specs on the Galaxy A5 and vice versa. I have seen the youtube reviews and camera test videos and I still can't make a choice. TIA!

Hello, I'm asking the question that android enthusiasts hate to answer cause of the difficulty of the situation... How do you root the htc one m8?
-
I've attached some screenshots showing my problem. Ever since I upgraded my HTC One m8 to android lollipop I've had this problem. Everytime I turn off my phone and turn it back on the next day some apps off of my homescreen disappear. On my primary homescreen you can see that the Remote Mouse app and some apps from my 'film' folder get taken away after a restart. As for my second homescreen app my 'utility' folder, for which I put apps I deem as tools, has the majority of apps in that folder removed from my homescreen after a reboot. Note: The apps are not removed from my phone they are merely removed from the homescreen. Someone please help because it is extremely fustrating considering I use these apps so often.

I've recently updated to lollipop on my htc one, which imho was a complete was of time. I've noticed a few problem which - whilst only small, are extremely frustrating. So here is somewhere for people to list the benifits or problems they've noticed. Here's my list... Pros: -Nice lock screen, shows messaged and notifications clearly -Task manager is better as you can see more apps -Theres a quick clean tool built in Cons: -It's slowed the phone down.. to a crawl at times -It filled the phone up, and cleaning caches only clear about a gig of space -The keyboard doesn't pop up sometimes, and so you have to restart the phone to get it back -Where you could reselect a word after typing and it would re-recommend words, it no longer does... just moves the insertions line round Your turn

Hi all, Firstly I want to thank you all in advance for any future responses I get on this thread. I hope that we can find a solution to this issue. To begin with, my configuration: Intel Core i7 4790K EVGA NVidia GTX 760 (stock) Kingston Hyper X 16GB DDR3 1600MHz (SODIMM) ASrock M8 mITX Motherboard Sandisk Extreme Pro 128GB RAID0 Some generic optical drive 600W FSP SFX Power Supply Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64Bit (All components running at stock settings) So here's the issue: Completed my first true build, booted up and everything works first time. Installed Windows and all drivers and updates and everything seemed to be working. But then when I ran either Unigine Heaven or Valley to test that everything was working as it should, the frame rate starts at around 60 but then the sound starts sounding having and scratchy while the frame rate begins to stutter . This deteriorates until the sound is nothing but loud scratching and the frame rate is almost 0 and the system has to be manually restarted. Sometime the NVidia driver crashes. I also ran Cinebench OpenGL test and there is a similar performance drop. While the GPU is under load, a loud hissing/scratchy sound can be heard coming from the card, a bit like coil whine but more varying. When looking at EVGA Precision X 16 monitoring utility, the card is only going up to 50% power although GPU utilisation is at 90%. The fan speed never increases, and the temperature doesn't seem to rise like it normally does. Here is what I have tried to fix the issue: Uninstalled and reinstalled the NVidia drivers and GeForce Experience Reinstalled Windows 8.1 Re-seated the GPU and made sure there was no debris in PCIe slot Updated to latest UEFI BIOS Set BIOS to defaults What I plan to do now (after writing this post) is to try and see if the same problem occurs in Windows 10 (the technical preview) and windows 7. I also plan to install the card in a housemate's system to see if the same thing happens there. As far as to what I think the problem is? Well I really hope its not a power supply issue as that would mean that there is a risk that it may have caused damage to other components right? But if it is a GPU issue then the EVGA warranty will cover that. Thanks again for any help you guys can offer. I look forward to hearing from you all. Regards, Llama

Hey! AS you can see by the title i am looking to see if the HTC One M8 is still a phone worth buying, or if it is a phone of the past! I am interested in buying a phone that is relatively future proof as my daily driver. now an 801 Snapdragon Qualcomm clocking 2.3 GHz to me seems like a fantastic processor! but people constantly tell me it will be abolished by the staple 805, and even 810 that will be coming out early-mid next year! But of course i am very skeptical! So I turn to you great people of the FORUMS! I should mention i live in the great land of canadia not boasting great carriers at all... I am with Rogers! So buying the Moto X is sadly not an option... I would like something that would be 0$ on contract! Thank you!

Alright, so I was watching some LTT CES Coverage only to have my screen freeze up. I waited a bit but it just stayed there. So, I just turned the display off. I tried turning it back on but nothing happened. I tried charging it, the charging light didn't come on. Then I heard the sound of my phone shutting down (without anything on the screen happening) and it won't turn back on. Temps were normal, the phone didn't overheat. Any suggestions?

So yesterday my dad fell into the river while on the boat, and his M8 went with him. He told me if I can fix it I can have it. It is currently sitting in a bag of rice, with the SD card and SIM card slots removed. Is there anything else I can do that might increase my chances of it working?

My news train doesn't make stops for anything (except washroom breaks, can't be living too dangerously) but while I was scouring the inter webs I came across this little tidbit. HTC is going to stop selling the One M8 in some areas and replace it with the M8s which carries a 615 64-bit processor in place of the original Snapdragon 801. This seems...bizarre to me. Investing additional R/D into a middle tier device instead of just slashing the price of your old one? Apple usually sets bad precedents, but their new policy of selling the last generation phone for less (and sometimes with fixed storage/colour options) doesn't seem like a bad way to go. Burn through any excess inventory and offer last years flagship with the same specs for less, for those who just don't need a 1000 dollar phone each year. But, c'est la vie. Here it is. http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_m8s_with_slower_cpu_to_replace_the_one_m8_soon-news-11398.php

I currently have a s4. It lags sometimes and has a cracked screen. Looking to upgrade. Thought of the G3 but worried abt battery life. Z3 is waterproof and has front facing speakers. M8 = boomsound but big size. S5 is decent but i dont particularly enjoy the design. I COULD consider an s6 second hand since it only costs abt $150 more than g3 or s5. Opinions?

Does anyone know of any good roms (can be stock or sense) for the One M8 which are actually good with decent features and up to date

I've just got my new HTC M8 Harman/Kardon and I would a great screen protector for it. I saw linus' video on phantom galss and I love it. Only one problem I cannot find a HTc phantom glass on the US NCIX store or on the US Amazon store. However I did find it on the NCIX Canadian store. I was wondering if I can buy it on the canadian store and have it shipped to my PO box. If not is there anywhere else where I can purchase this screen protector.

So I ordered a Mahogany vinyl skin for my HTC One M8 off Dbrand. Having heard of people putting funny requests in their order details, I thought I would give it a go with the following: I think it might be worth adding that shipping took quite some time, 20 days actually. However this is kind of expected as I live in rural Australia and Dbrand is in Toronto. Anyways, the skin turned up today: I know it isn't much, but it humored me. Thought I would share. Now I gotta wait until the weekend to put it on, due to a certain lack of hairdryer. Fisha [spoiler=BONUS CONTENT: MFW this is my 100th post, and first thread] UPDATE: So I just installed the skin, came out pretty good I think: ^Don't mind my mechanics fingernails... The video on the Dbrand website made installing this a breeze, it is excellent. I got it a little bit misaligned, but not enough to bother me. I will however recommend if you are getting a HTC One M8 skin to get the HTC cutout in the back. Without the cutout to line the skin up it was quite difficult to get it straight initially. The quality is topnotch, with an actual wood grain texture stamped into the vinyl, Lovely. Will be getting one of these on all my phones from now on. Fisha
