I recently got a Nokia Lumia 2520 from a second-hand market (i know it's pretty old but it's what I needed, eheh) but now I got a big issue: The battery seems to not charge. I tried with the tab turned on and off too but nothing seems to work, it works only with the power brick inserted and Windows telss me constantly "plugged in but not charging" while stuck at 0%. The battery seems to OK (not faulty) since it doesn't say "battery missing" or "non detected" but still there's no way to charge it. I tried the trick of resetting battery drivers in Windows but it didn't work, I dunno if I did something wrong. Someone has a solution, please?

I recently bought a used Lumia 920.1 off my friend who no longer found it useful since messenger has stopped working properly. It works fine when connected to WiFi but on mobile data, it fails to connect for some reason. (apparently an issue on a number of older Lumia phones) Maybe it would work again if I updated the phone to Windows 10 but I don't want to do that for a number of reasons. I can simply use messenger through a browser so technically it's not too much of a problem. However, since I don't necessarily want to have a browser running in the background every time I need to wait for someone to respond to my message while doing something else, I've been wondering: is there an alternative app that would support the messenger protocol and work correctly on my Lumia 920?

Have I gone mad? Well it is not my main phone it is a replacement for my iPod 5, my daily driver is still the my|phone my32 which runs android L. So why the Nokia Lumia 640 LTE? ((it was also the considered by a Youtuber to be the best Windows phone for anyone who just wants to try it due to its low price!)) Well I got it cheaper than its import price from where I work and it has most my apps except Discord, tough there is a unofficial UWP version I have yet to try on the gaming side well I found 3 of all my games! Sad on the gaming side tough, I am mostly happy that I no longer has to use iTunes. Tough while trying to transfer content over the device keep failing, so much is not transfered yet I may have to pull out the SD-card and plug it to my PC. Speaking of SD-card it seems Windows phone lets me add ALL THE APPS ON THE SD-card! o3o ((to bad there aren't many games to add on it...)) finally worst part is that the device will only send and receive 1 file at the time over bluetooh which is torture! ((the biggest win is its 2500mAh battery, so much music so much winning!!!)) Short version NOT TERRIBLE but needs more APPs and well until then not advised for a main phone unless you do not need the trendy apps/games.

I've been having a strange problem with my windows phone I wonder how many people just left... Lumia 950 and I've come to the conclusion that it could be the battery. I'm posting this to get second opinions on the matter before I drop $40 on a replacement. This all started around the time of the WP anniversary update (build 1607). My phone would sometimes randomly restart. Before this, my phone would sometimes activate the touch digitizer but not the screen on wake, or it would activate the screen on wake but not the touch digitizer (very rare problems). These practically disappeared when the random restart problem began. The restarts don't happen when the phone is plugged into the wall adapter, but they do happen when plugged into USB power (such as in a car) and on the NFC charger. I've already tried factory resetting a number of times. The restarts still happened weather I restored the device from a backup or not. What's strange is that my phone's battery life doesn't seem to have changed, but the restart problem becomes more prevalent as the charge drains. It has also become more frequent since it first started happening. The way I see it, this probably points to the battery, but it could also point to possibly new energy management protocols introduced in the last update which causes the phone to restart when it runs into problems with high power draw hardware (such as the screen and touch digitzer) rather than let the hardware go into a no-power state. I don't know if such updates exist; it's just a theory. This leaves me with three options. 1. Buy the (probably not)new battery 2. send phone in for repairs and be without a phone for a while 3. buy a new device and burn all my cash cuz Y not? As always, thank you all of you great people for the help.

I have a little YouTube channel, but nothing serious and it's more like for my personal entertainment. In the last four years I mainly made videos using a ZTE Tania, which hints the quality baseline. Only problem is the phone is currently reporting 90MiB free space after I deleted all pictures and videos, so I assume I fried its 2.5GiB user storage with 100+ GiBs of video . I was considering Lumia 640 as a replacement (I know it's weird, but I have some developed apps for Windows Phone), but I make a lot of Skype calls on my computer, too. So that's why I thought I hack something together with a tablet and this Logitech C920 webcam. I was thinking about these options: Lumia 640 - pros: have manual focus, decent video, I'll be carrying it all the time cons: for app testing I have Windows 10 tablet, so I'm not necessarily needing it Polaroid Cube pros: nicer video than the L640 (at least based on what I saw on Techmoan's channel) , the magnet can be useful for me, best runtime with battery pack cons: no manual focus, another device to carry with, but really small Logitech C920 + tablet pros: hacking, maybe the best image quality / bucks , manual focus cons: not really portable, probably I can't attach battery pack to the tablet while using the camera, so limited battery life, I don't know how well does the camera performs outdoors To be honest after watching some reviews I doubt I would want one of the HD camcorders. It seems that the cheapest ones produce videos comparable to a phone, apart from the zoom... I think at this point the Lumia 640 is my choice, but I'm curious what do you guys think about these ultra low cost solutions?

Hi, my phone (a Lumia 640 XL) isn't charging. I've tried rebooting the smartphone, and then I turned it off to remove the battery for a while, but neither of that fixed the issue. I could use some suggestions here.

Microsoft erases bad stains of Lumia devices, Surface Phone is the future! By Sovan Mandal - Apr 3, 2016 1st Source: http://www.inferse.com/40950/microsoft-windows-phone-10-surface-phone/ 2nd Source: http://www.therem.org/microsoft-surface-phone-releases-with-start-button-on-device-more-details/1233904/ 3rd Source: http://www.delhidailynews.com/news/Microsoft-Surface-Phone-price--specs-and-features-update--8GB-RAM--512GB-storage-and-more-1459697263/ Apologies for all the quotes I wanted to get in the major points of all 3 articles. Now there is a lot of speculation surrounding Microsoft's plan concerning phones and MS has not been very forth coming. I have made mention of this before; MS is not in the business of making smartphones their priority, they are offering a smartphone for the business world or in other words a similar focus of Blackberry but doing a better job of it. Now I remember MS mentioning that when they are ready the phone will become a priorty as it wil tie everything together and so far (to me) it that MS is working on getting all their ducks in a row before launching their "greatest" iteration of the smartphone. Granted MS has given us many clues to what they plan on doing with the phones i.e. Lumia 950xl with continuum and their plans to work with Intel to put mobile processors in the surface phone series. I do not put much stock in rumor or speculation articles but I have been following the Windows Mobile/ Windows Phone since the beginning and I though I am beginning to tire of the lag this has been going (thanks Steve Ballmer /s) but with the speed of which that Nadella has been working on is encouraging. I have been testing out the continuum and have posted a review of sorts in the Windows Mobile Testers section and I must say that I am stoked at what Microsoft has here. The possibility of making the phone the work horse unit of for mobile businessmen/women is outstanding. Goodbye laptop, goodbye, tablet, good bye desktop pc. I love my PC and Tablet but when it come to business peripherals the Surface phone utilizing Continuum will/is reinventing the "smartphone". Thoughts?

The Lumia 950 has been unveiled! What a fitting 500th post... Anyway, it features the following specs: As far as I can tell, there has been no clarification on what "liquid cooling" means. It seems like it's only on the 950XL, however. Looking forward to seeing this in-person, most likely my next phone. Microsoft Event: Top ten unveils I think it is quite interesting that Microsoft is making some major changes to their phone and "tablet" market, and that they are also releasing a real laptop. The new Surface book will redefine how new 2 in 1's are made, with a discrete Nvidia GPU in the keyboard, while the CPU and all other components are in the tablet portion. Did Microsoft solve 808/810 throttlin/heating issues?
Sharp_3yE posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Very Interesting. The Lumia 950 has the Snapdragon 808 while the Lumia 950 XL has the Snapdragon 810. Both phones though have a heatsink to keep the processor cooler. I wonder how much this will effect performance? Do you think the heating/throttling issues of the 808/810 will be solved this way? -
Windows Central posted an article on how Windows Hello works on the new Lumia 950 and 950 XL by Microsoft. Link: http://www.windowscentral.com/how-iris-scanner-lumia-950-and-950-xl-works Don't worry, there won't be a blinding red light in your eye. Here is a youtube video of the demo from the Microsoft even on 10/6/2015 where at the beginning it shows Bryan Roper @Broper00 demoing Windows Hello before he demos Continuum. I found the information very interesting. It does just give the basics of how it works. If you want, try to dive deeper into iris scanning and share any information on here.

Microsoft confirmed that it didn't offer its new Lumia phones to any carrier except AT&T. Microsoft confirmed last night that it didn't offer the new lumia 950 to any U.S. carrier except AT&T, cementing the idea that the company isn't particularly interested in selling its latest phones in the U.S. Here's the Microsoft statement, which I will annotate for you. Microsoft's huge layoff round in July shrank the teams that were dealing with U.S. carriers and cut down on communications. This is all part of Satya Nadella and Panos Panay apparently trying to get rid of the Ballmer/Elop/Nokia threads in their mobile organization and start from scratch. About Nokia, "Mr. Nadella is said to have disliked the acquisition originally," The New York Times says. And while Panay was relentlessly "pumped" about the Surface Book at Tuesday's launch event, he was more bashful about the phones. That's noteworthy because Panay is never less than hyperbolic about a product he actually believes in. Several industry sources told me that the U.S. carriers have shown interest in Windows Phones and said, like Legere did, that Microsoft gave carriers the cold shoulder. In the case of Verizon and Sprint, Microsoft didn't show much interest in testing and validating the 950 series for their CDMA voice system, so that was a non-starter. (CDMA verification is expensive and takes time.) In the case of T-Mobile, well, you see what Legere said. So even though the Lumia 950 may be an excellent phone—I look forward to reviewing it—this will almost certainly be another lost year for Windows Phone sales in the U.S. It's cold comfort to know that this may actually be Microsoft's plan. Microsoft officially announced Lumia 650, their latest and perhaps their last Lumia phone. You can check the introduction video here. Some of its features include: 5" AMOLED display with the resolution of 1280x720 16GB internal storage 1GB RAM 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 - Quad core 1.3GHz 2000 mAh battery The design of the new Lumia features a solid aluminum frame and comes with Windows Mobile 10 with many well known features like Cortana and Glance Screen. It's 6.9mm thick and and weighs 122g. It should be available on the 18th of February at a recommended price of a 199$. Personally, I'm really satisfied with the design and the overall look of the device. Many people on the reddit thread are worried about the performance because of the SD 212 however for a user like me I think it should meet my standards. Windows phone proved to me that it works really well on low end devices and I expect the wonderful experience I had on my HTC 8S with Windows Phone 8.1 to continue on this device as well. Since Windows Phone (and I assume new Mobile 10 version) works well with low RAM I do not fear that this device will not live up to my expectations. What do you think? Have you tried Windows 10 Mobile? What's your opinion on the SD212/1GB of RAM combo? Sources: Microsoft Website Reddit Thread EDIT: Here's a review of Lumia 650

Folks. My upgrade is due in a couple of months so I have started to think about which phone to change to. Currently I have a iPhone 5s and to be honest I am done with iphones. My work phone is a Lumia 630 which to be honest I really enjoyed using so I was thinking about changing to a windows phone. So the question is... what is the best windows phone out there and what would you recommend? I am not interested in Apple or Android phones so just windows suggestions please.

Hi Everyone I thought i would share some of my first impressions about a new phone i got , its by no means the fastest phone in the world or the most expensive , but for the price you get alot for your money i used to have a lumia 610 ( really bad ) it was a dual core with 512mb ram and a 4 inch screen i didn't know the resolution , all i could really do on it was watch YouTube videos and talk to the Girlfriend on kik and make phone calls So i started searching through 'Budget' phones , and i came across the Microsoft Lumia 535 , the first Lumia phone to have microsoft branding on it i found it for about £85 on amazon.co.uk and about 90 in argos , most people would say you need to spend more on a phone but for £90 i think this phone is a steal , here are the specs CPU : Quad-Core 1.2ghz Cortex-A7 Chipset : Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 GPU : Adreno 302 RAM : 1gb Internal memory : 8gb SD card up to 128gb ( i like this feature ALOT ) 5 inch screen 540x960 ~220 ppi ( not great but i came from a potato lol ) Overall there are pretty good specs for £90 , other phones i was looking at were dual cores with 512mb of ram and that wasnt enough for me The lumia 535 has a nice design , at least i think its nice , its nice and clean looking with only the power/lock button and the volume rocker visible on the side located on the left side of the phone about 2/3rds of the way up the side , Speaker isn't the best but its enough for some music as long as it isnt too bassey but i mainly use a set of in ear headphones for videos and music so speaker quality is okay for me the Screen is nice and sharp with decent colours , i watched alot of reviews on youtube about the 535 and i think people are spoiled too much by phones like the S5/6 or iphone 6 because they all say the 220 ppi isnt enough and you can see pixels , but i havent seen any pixels , like i said before i came from a really bad phone so it was a huge upgrade screen wise , the screen is also alot more responsive than my old phone , and is covered in Gorilla glass 3 so i doubt i will smash it any time soon Now the battery , my old lumia 610 was a 1300mAh battery and lasted a couple of days with normal use which was pretty good , the battery in the Lumia 535 is a 1950mAh affair , it came with about 60% in it when i got the phone , i have had to put it on for a 90% which took about an hour (micro USB charger ) , i have been playing games all day and skyping with my girlfriend for a few hours when it got down to 20% i put it back on charge , so that was about 10 hours of hard-ish use and it used 80% , i think that is pretty good for a phone that has a quad-core , even if it isnt the most powerful quad core out there There really isnt much to say about the Camera , it has a 5mp camera front AND rear ( big selling point for me ) i know more MP dpsent mean better video but its a step in the right direction , the rear camera is capable of 480p30fps video , so not the best but i dont use video on my phone anyway , the rear camera also has an LED flash but thats all i can really say about the camera All in all i am happy with my new Microsoft Lumia 535 , it is a physically big phone , good if you have big hands like me , and its fast enough for my needs and it handles everything i throw at it With all that being said though , i would only really recommend this phone if you were on a really tight budget like i was , if you are coming from a potato phone then grab something like this and you will really appreciate the speed and capability of this phone , if you want a new phone and you already have a decent phone then you wont really see a different in speed or functionality Thanks for Reading

My review of the Nokia 2520 is going to be a peculiar one. The tablet is discontinued as of me writing this, but you can still buy one used off of something like craigslist. Now to get on with the review. The tablet itself is a rather thin looking device, on its left side, you have a 3.5mm audio jack and the proprietary charging port, and on the right side, is a micro HDMI, and a mini USB 3.0 input. The tablet is rather light, with a 2.10 ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and an Adreno GPU. The processor is very capable for the unit, and does not heat it up very much. I didn't see any noticeable thermal throttling and the unit under heavy load was comfortable to hold in my hand. The unit has a 1920x1080 11 inch display, which is no problem for the Adreno GPU inside the unit. I didn't see any noticeable backlight bleed, and the screen has slightly better contrast in comparison with my iPad air. The screen has a nice amount of backlight on it, but the glossy screen was a downside when using it in a bright room, or outside. The I/O on the unit is virtually nonexistent, only consisting of a 3.5mm audio out, a micro HDMI and a micro USB 3.0 in for some reason. The saving grace for the I/O is the detachable keyboard. The keyboard is pretty good, connecting to the connectors on the bottom of the tablet. The keyboard is membrane, with a slightly condensed typing feel. The keyboard also contains two extra USB ports, as well as an extra battery. The ease of use of the tablet was also rather solid. It has cameras on the front and back, which can be accessed through the camera application, and it is running Windows 8.1 RT, I would usually mark a device down for using windows RT, but the inclusion of applications like Office preinstalled, and the fact that it uses up very little of my limited, 16 gigabytes of storage, makes me one happy camper. The cellular on the tablet is another great positive. I bought my tablet from Verizon wireless, and I put an LTE data plan on it, which worked flawlessly, something I cannot say for my Lenovo X1, which has spotty connection quality on its cellular radio. The tablet also has the capability to create a wireless hotspot, which is useful when I'm on the go. The WiFI on the tablet is also very nice, mine was able to connect to my 802.11n access point, but not my ac one for some reason, a given on most new devices. The tablet for me is a very nice device. It was well rounded, it is relatively cheap, it had a good mix of I/O and battery life (with my keyboard) and it had a good range of connectivity on it as well. Thanks for reading through this ordeal of a post. Do any of you guys have a 2520, if so, did you like it? Reply in comments. I'm going to be a total Linus and tease my next comparison, it’s the Galaxy Note 4 vs iPhone 6 Plus Should I post a review/comparison every week?

The HTC One M8 and Lumia 830 will both be coming to AT&T on November 7th, 2014. If you recall, the HTC One M8 for Windows was already available since August 19th but was exclusive to Verizon. It looks like that exclusivity is now over. When you purchase the Lumia 830 through AT&T you also get a FitBit Flex for free, which costs $99 on its own. It's good to see more Windows Phone coming to more carriers, something Microsoft needs to work on getting Windows Phones to wireless carriers much faster, especially carriers outside of the US. It will be hard for Windows Phones to be successful if its difficult for people to purchase them in the first place. MicroLumia Images from Chinese regulator TENAA show a new Lumia handset with Microsoft branding at the front and rear in what appears to be a bigger version of the Lumia 530. The new device is simply labelled RM-1090 for now, but it offers dual-SIM support with what will likely be low-end specifications For extra reads check out this early news post behind the name change.. Microsoft Drops the 'Nokia' Tag in the New Lumia Phones These are leaked images so if it gets taken down , You haven't heard anything from me.. Still looks ugly imo This new handset appears to be the latest low-end Windows Phone from Microsoft, an approach that the company is using to try and push the overall operating system market share as it struggles to compete with Android on cost and features. AFAIK sources seem to be verified & original, if it's BS let me know i'll take this down ASAP. Post your comments down below.. Microsoft had already announced back in October that its Windows Phone social networking accounts will be renamed to Microsoft Lumia but today is the first time we got a specific date on when that will actually happen. Only the names of the accounts are changing; nothing else will be altered. The changes are all part of Microsoft's previously announced plans to focus on the Lumia brand for their smartphones. It also shows that the company is downplaying the Windows Phone branding as a whole, and that the company could in the future simply refer to the mobile version of its OS as "Windows" as part of a unified marketing effort across smartphones, tablets, and PCs. links... https://twitter.com/windowsphone https://twitter.com/windowsphone/status/529374570948857856 https://www.facebook.com/MicrosoftLumia/posts/10152567109983772

Seriously, this thing looks like a broken door knob Just a Heads up: Any or All of the images might get taken down soon/early so.. if so, You haven't seen me first of all :This could possibly be an elaborate fake, but couple of sources are citing this as the real prototype image of the phone that has been leaked..Microsoft has yet to comment, Now read the rest of it.. Nope it's not the Lumia 1020 But this model Being called Lumia 1052 ,This prooves that Microsoft is still developing the Lumia line of the previous Nokia brand phones, The new alleged prototype of the phone was leaked by a chineese auction site. This Brand is boasting almost a whole aluminium body (except for some plastic lining at the bottom) The phone is running Windows Phone 8.1 with shown specs of 2GB of RAM and what appears to be a 5-inch 1080p display. The camera bump is the obvious addition here, dominating the rear of this device with its aluminum body. Peek into the system specs Seriously can someone translate the rest for me? Currently there's no news info on how powerful the camera is in this leaked prototype. While the camera is large, the device is fitted with an LED flash rather than the xenon flash found on the Lumia 1020, and the lens appears to lack a mechanical shutter Fishy text font Rumor is that this mysterious device could also be the canceled "Nokia McLaren" handset that was supposed to showcase Microsoft’s Kinect-like Windows Phone gestures. On-screen Windows Phone buttons, instead of dedicated physical buttons, this one is allegedly carrying that function if you don't know what that was, the McLaren version was supposed to support floating off-screen gestures that don’t require owners to physically touch the display. kinda like virtual 3d gestures that you can do to activate actions corresponding to it, just like a kinect from Xbox. So, to recap: Screen size : 5" Screen resolution : Full HD (1920x1080) panel unknown CPU : 4 cores (unknown) Camera : Unknown internal memory : 32gigs Operating System : Windows 8.1 Ram memory : 2 gigs Rest is just some fishy rumors Post your thoughts on this down below, if it's apparently the real thing, it's too thick & the design is just another recycled idea i think, Post your thoughts & rants & praises on it down beloooooooee.. I am personally excited for the One Plus One because of the Cyanogen Mod deal going on and the hyped up specs it has with it. It probably will be a all day phone with a 3000maH battery and will be very solid in the later years.
