The image of a security camera like device that was shown in early March has now been confirmed to be the Amazon Echo Look, an Amazon Echo device that is suppose to be your style assistant. From an article on Hot Hardware: http://hothardware.com/news/amazon-echo-look-is-a-200-vanity-camera-for-fashionistas So I guess we now get to pose for Amazon to help us select our daily style... I'm thinking the kinda creepy thing is that this is supposed to help you select 'stylish' clothes, however, how do you know what it is doing with the images it is now collecting... EDIT: Well some of the additional information from TechCrunch just makes this seem even creepier... According to TC: https://techcrunch.com/2017/04/26/amazons-camera-equipped-echo-look-raises-new-questions-about-smart-home-privacy/ The good news is that the camera is not supposed to turn on unless the key word triggers it, but still, any photos taken with this are uploaded to Amazon's Cloud and designated Amazon personnel can view the photos...

For all you apple fans out there, the first dummie units of the upcoming iphone 8 have arrived. Source: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/iphone-8-design-prototype,news-25636.html The most striking thing about the iPhone 8 design, as seen in this Marques Brownlee video, is the nearly borderless display. Apple seems to have finally ditched the chunky top and bottom bezels of previous iPhones in favor of an edge-to-edge display that provides roughly the same amount of screen as the iPhone 7 Plus in a much smaller package. The only thing that's a bit jarring is the small module at the top, which houses the phone's front-facing camera and speaker. This little bump matches the iPhone outline found in the leaked HomePod firmware, which leads us to believe that it's most likely legitimate.

(Check my sig for my current rig.) I'm thinking of doing a plasti-dip job on my rig. It's got black-with-red right now and it looks great, but I'm thinking of doing something more uniform-looking as the different reds don't come close to matching up. I don't have any lighting yet. I plan to keep the base color black but need help deciding on the accent color/s. Thanks!

I was bored and procrastinating as I often do and was browsing YouTube. It was there I saw a video showcasing a new blackberry Android phone. For me Android is a big no no, but I watched it anyway. And it got me thinking, what do you look for in technology. I primarily look for security, I have my webcam taped over, I have my hard disk encrypted, I use an iPhone because of Apple's security standards which they strictly state as well as the fingerprint scanner. Even though the blackberry phone has a bunch of security features, it's not good enough for me. But then I thought that some people might look for different things like usability or battery life, or even in desktop computers, like how cool they look or just the raw performance. I also want to encourage software products too, I look for security and stability in every piece of software I use, and that's my policy. But I'm curious what other's policies are. This would also help me on some computer science projects I am doing involving how people view technology (It's part of my software engineering paper.)

Hi I'm planning on upgrading my air cooling. Don't misunderstand - my PC's cooling performance is really awesome. I never go above 30 degrees in idle and 60 degrees in full load. It's really good and pleasing, but the problem is... it's freakin' loud (for me, I'm just super picky about it). Right now I have 3 case fans, 1 cooler fan, 3 GPU fans and a PSU fan. It's cool, but "silent" (let's call it that way). I tried to change their RPMs, but nor a SpeedFan, nor a BIOS, nor the A-Tuning software change anything. For example I can't set unneeded fans to turn off. My first idea was to just buy a fan controller (Gelid Speedtouch 6), but the fans will still continue vibrating and having the same weak pressure. That's why I'm looking for some really quiet fans with these requirements: 2x high pressure (for hard drive cage and CPU cooler) 1x blue LED (for intake) 3x other (just quiet for exhaust and for intake - I've been thinking about Cryorig QF120 or Noctua S12B) I wanted to also set them to lowest RPMs through the controller and mount them with rubber pins. It all sounds good, but it's going to be quiet *dink* expensive :\ Do you have any better ideas? Or know what are the best fans I asked for for as cheap as possible? Will a Silverstone soundproof mat do the trick? My case is Zalman R1 (an advice for future builders - it's an awesome case, but do the cable management before placing the motherboard and the soundproof mat on the front door gives sh*t). Thanks in advance!

I was thinking of picking a GTX 780 for around $250 or should I go for something newer? What do you guys think? Let me know! Thank you!

So I am currently working on my pc's look and today the topic is GPU. I have the Gainward GTX 970 without any backplate, and it looks retarded. I really want to buy a backplate for it (I'd prefer it red). Any ideas what backplate would fit and is there anything I need to know before I buy one. btw: Does all 970 backplates have the same size and screws? Thank you William

Hi guys, For my coming pc upgrade, I want black/red looking components and I plan to buy the Be Quiet Silent Base 800, but I really like its orange/black theme. Will it look good with red/black component? (I know it is purely subjective and not very usefull because of the lack of windowed side panel, but I like a good looking build when I open my case ) Thanks

So i want a Hydro H80i or a H100i inside my case because air cooling on cpu fans are ugly as poop and these water coolers are small and have pretty customizable light on them The debate is where i should place one of these. I would like to keep my case as silent as possible so i'm hesitating to remove the noise dampening material from the top and keeping a H80i in the back might not be as good looking because then i can see a big chunk of it there. Im thinking if i can somehow fit it in the front of the case? This wont be the best though since they'll pull warm air inside the case. The best solution i see is just removing the noise dampening material from the top and praying to the creators of the matrix that it wont make more noise annyway. Annyone with innovative thoughts about this? Thanks for all feedback <3

Please move this to the correct topic if this in the wrong place. Cheers. I'm starting out as a YouTuber this year, and I'd love to know what you guys expect from a YouTuber. To give you some more info, - My editing style for most videos is a quick cut scene selection of all the interesting parts, with added background music (Which is now a necessity, due to YouTube's content ID BS.) The only time this is not the case is for massive multi-part gameplay "walkthrough" style things or extremely story driven games, such as The Last of Us. - I use an AT2020 USB microphone, with a shockmount and pop filter. No crappy £3 headsets here! - I insist upon quality, to the point I have left other channels because they did not take it as importantly as me. All my footage is 720p 30fps, and if there is an error with the video, I will re-record. Personally, I look for a good, standout type of content. Not lots and lots of Minecraft. Audio quality is paramount to me, as is footage quality. I also like standardised upload times (In my case, once a week.) I also dislike people whose voices are extremely high (As in 7 year olds) I have no issue with someone who is a mature but whose voice is not broken yet (such as myself, I'm in the consistent voice crack stage *facepalm*) So yeah, feedback would be nice, because I want to make this channel one to last.

I wasn't sure where to ask this, but mods, feel free to move wherever. I am in need of a high quality (not industrial or anything like that) soldering gun. I'm thinking between $50 and $150, but that just depends on the price range and how that affects quality. For anyone experienced in using them (I know how to solder, but I know absolutely nothing about what makes a soldering gun a good one), I'd appreciate some pointers. Good examples of things I don't know and would like to: What is the difference between a soldering gun and a soldering iron? Is it same thing, different name, are they technically different, but effectively the same, or are they just really different? How relevant is the wattage to how much heat a soldering gun can produce, and how important is that for soldering? As in, are the higher wattage guns strictly for some special type of soldering, or are they just for better ease of use (i.e. you have a wider range to choose from)? What are the (dis)advantages of the various types? i.e. gas vs electric vs air? etc etc. Note: I will primarily be using it to solder basic metals together. It won't actually be for circuitry but simply for appearance. However, if I am to spend money on anything, I prefer to think ahead. And if I should ever need to use a soldering gun in the future for circuitry or anything else that requires more than the bare minimum of what a soldering gun can do, I'd prefer to spend the extra money now to save it later. Anyway, you get the idea I hope. Thanks, Vitalius

So i really like the Corsair 750d, but idk about the drive bays. If i were to put anything in one, it wouldnt look consistent. Also, the bottom (not psu grill) doesnt have filters. I dont really like doors coving the bays and i am planning to top mount a 240mm radiator at the top of a case. Anyone know of anything?

I'm looking for networking switches for a small business. Small in this case means 60+ employees, 100+ devices, and things that go along with it. I'm completely uninformed about switches. I either don't know, or know very little, about what jumbo frames, SNMP, PoE, QoS, LACP, or Port Mirroring are, I can guess and Google, but knowing what they are isn't as important to me as knowing what they are good for I think. I've also seen that some switches have modules you can attach to them. And that some are "stackable" (I can only imagine what that means). There are things called "Layers". I assume this is something involving security? No idea. The only manufacturer I know of that has a decent reputation in regards to these kinds of switches is Dell. I know nothing of anyone else. If anyone can give me information on what to look for and who they trust for these types of things, that'd be great and I'd appreciate it.
