I’m not sure if this is the place to ask,but I want to build a pc build that has at least more than 2 Tb of space and can play games with at least more than 40 fps.Also I don’t play large games like cyberpunk 2077 or csgo but I want a pc that can like play any game like youtubers (for exemple markiplier has a pc that can withstand multiple types of games with good quality) and finally longevity. Budget : 1500$ (15000 mad) but less is preferred Country: Morocco Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: everything Other details : I’m not really sure because all the computers I have ever used were only laptops,but primarily I need a pc that can be upgraded that has lots of storage

Hello, Recently i bought a new phone. My question is, i sleep in a cold room with no heating 5°C and lower. My phone is obviously next to me because it has to wake me up. Is it bad for the battery to be charged at that temp? Or maybe just left there overnight without charging it. Second. I did try to charge it at 4° at fast amd normal charging and it was pretty slow so i unplugged it. Could i have perma. damaged my battery? I did read about that but people talk only about temporary loosing capacity and that stuff. Cheers!

Budget: Roughly $2,000 - without graphics card (see below). Country: USA Goals: 1. Speed - especially when multitasking. Normally, I neither game nor edit videos. But, I do work on the computer alot. I open up many, many tabs of all kinds - including long videos - and I have multiple programs running. I want the computer to be able to handle this sort of activity as fast as possible, without hesitating or flinching. 2. Longevity. I want the new computer to last for as long as possible without really needing an upgrade/fix. 3. Silence. within reason. 4. RGB is not desired. But, some is okay. 5. I plan on getting a decent OLED monitor. But, I have to save up some money for that. For now, I'm going to use an older monitor. 6. I really want to make sure that I get my moneys worth; if I'm going to spend $2,000, then I want the best possible computer for $2,000 that will suit my purposes. Parts list: Processor: either Intel Core i9-13900K or Intel Core i7-13700k Cooler: Maybe Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix XT three fan model But, I don't know if I need something more powerful, such as an Asus Ryujin III. Motherboard: This is a really hard one for me to figure out. Maybe: Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX. Memory: aiming for 64GB (2x32). Not sure if Corsair or G.Skill is better here. So, Corsair Vengeance (2x32) DDR5-6000 CL30 or G.Skill Trident Z5 (2x32) DDR5 6000 CL30 or the neo version. Storage: Aiming for 2TB for now. Maybe Samsung 990 2TB, although I've read that there has been some problems with it. * Video card: AMD 100-438373 Radeon Rx 6900 XT 16GB (I'm getting this from a friend who is upgrading his pc) If this ends up being a problem, I plan on replacing it at some point. Case: Corsair 4000D Power supply: No idea what I need. Corsair RM1000x 80+ gold (2021) or the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000w G6, 80+ Gold or Corsair HX1000i 80+ Platinum. If i were to, mainly working with stuff like powershell, python, and front end coding stack. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): i already have an RTX 3090 that I bought about a year ago and just been sitting around as I saved up, the one listed in my pcpartpicker list. Currently using two 23.8” 165hz monitors. Do want to upgrade to a third monitor but no rush at the moment so nothing in mind at the moment for a third monitor. i will be honest the parts for this list were just inspired by other 3090 builds I saw through pc part picker. I recently installed a cooler on my CPU, my CPU is a ryzen 7 5800x and the cooler was not an AM4 cooler, but when I put it in, it worked fine, it runs at 30 to 40 degrees normally, only thermal throddling when I do cinebench multi core test, the single core test runs fine, also on gaming runs fine, but first thing I noticed is that the CPU will randomly spike to 80 degrees and the fans will kick in full speed for no reason, sometimes I'm gaming and it doesn't spike, sometimes Im just browsing google and it spikes. After that I noticed that I could see the very edge of my CPU, even though the cooler is on, can that cause me a problem? its been like 2 months since I put it in and its been working fine, still spiking temp and noise level, but performance wise its fine I also cannot remove the cooler, I had to press it really hard to get it in the brackets and now I can't get it of I do plan on buying a new cooler eventually, but I wanted to wait to buy it together with my graphics card (wich are too expensive rn), so is this something I should rush, or can I wait a few months?

I am making plans to build put together a NAS vault desktop, using some older spare hardware lying around. I picked up a system without any storage, so I would need to fill this up. The board is in older Intel Z87, rocking a 4th Gen i5 CPU, a little overkill, but should be OK to start with. I plan to fill the machine up with large capacity HDD platter disks, aiming for 4-8TB for each drive, as I don't want to break the bank each time I purchase a small set. Knowing that it's best practice to keep your OS and Data separate, I would need a boot/OS drive. A low capacity SSD, aiming for roughly 128-256GB would be more than enough. I don't plan to using SSD caching drives at present, but its worth considering. Note: NVMe is not supported on the motherboard due to not having one. My question is in regards to the boot/OS drive. I can find a 240GB drive for A$40, while most other drives are around A$80. My guess for the low price is that it is missing a DRAM chip. I'm not sure if there is a way to check, as many vendors don't list/advertise in on their spec pages. My question is the performance impact and reliability of purchasing a DRAM-less SSD as a boot/OS drive. I'm likely to use FreeNAS, (but unRAID, could be on the cards) with a ZFS format across any storage pool drives. How much wear would be placed on the OS drive for a NAS system? Would it suffer from SSD thrashing as big data comes in? Do cache drives offload this work from the OS SSD? Do these OS drives manage the cluster indexes? As a side note, I don't plan to leave this NAS running 24/7. Its use case is primary archiving digital libraries and content, and a second tier back destination, between my long-term critical data on a portable HDD, and my on-demand server which runs NextCloud.

Hello friends, I just got my first laptop pc which is also the first battery operated piece of tech I truly care about and I’m trying to make sure I don’t shorten it’s lifespan, I know it’s ok to leave the power plugged in overnight, what I’m curious on is: is it harmful to not let the battery drop below a certain percentage? Should it be allowed to drain closer to 0 before plugging it back in? MSI dragon center has this setting that lets it drop to 40% and only charges it to 60%, should I use this? Currently I have a Dell XPS 13 and I have discovered that I do not need the entire battery even with my reltiavely heavy use (I ususally have about 50 tabs of chrome open along with any number of word documents, zoom, etc). Dell does have a propriety power management tool but is there a more openly avaliable alternative? Currently I am experimenting with a schelduled smart plug being used for a chromebook that is used as a desktop replacment in a docking station 90% of the time. This is in an effort to make the devices last a bit longer since it is the batteries that usually die first in my experience.

Howdy, I was cleaning my PC just now and I stumbled upon the ECO mode switch on my EVGA PSU that I have left on OFF for like 5 years now. The fan has always been spinning regardless of the load on the PSU. Now, it still works fine with zero issues but I thought to myself what happens if it dies or starts making weird noises, can I: file a warranty claim on it considering it's still under warranty? If the answer to the above is yes, do I have to send them the PSU for a fan replacement? or do they just send me a fan to install myself? (cause otherwise I wouldn't be able to use the pc), how does that work exactly? Where can you get sealed, original and brand new Globe Fan fans in europe? I'd rather not use ebay or similar websites where there's no guarantee that the fan will be brand new or original. Actually I'd rather use a high quality Noctua fan instead but how do you adapt the 3 or 4 pin connector to the 2 pin one? what about the voltage/amperage ratings? do they sell compatible and long-lasting PSU fans? Techpowerup reviewed my PSU and they say the fan's model number is the RL4Z-B1402512M which allegedly uses double-ball bearings. How long do these types of fan typically last at low speeds? I found an estimate on ball bearing fans, not double BB. Thanks.

Hey guys there's a lot of cases where laptops with liquid metal added to them would have the die fuse with the liquid metal bricking it after a year or 2 of use. I have an ROG G751 and I have been using it since 2014 so I care a lot for longevity, mainly because I cannot afford to replace the stuff. So how do modern laptops with Liquid metal out of the gate fare for longevity, I am at a loss. Maybe its a thing for LABS to pay attention to.

Since EVA doesn't make AMD GPU (so far), i know SAPPHIRE is the "best" when it comes to AMD cards. But the shops here where i'm from are all out of stock. I found an ASUS DUAL and MSI MECH variants, kinda pricy compared to POWERCOLOR FIGHTER variant. Which is better in terms of overall warranty support and life longevity?

Intro: So yeah, Lightroom is either poorly coded or power hungry, but bottom-line: on a budget/old system IT IS SLOW! So I want to surprise my wife with a new build, and throw the old DDR2-system out the window. 1. Budget & Location Budget is R20 000 - R30 000 (which is about 1500 - 2300 USD with an exchange rate of 13.2 R/USD at the time of writing this). I am located in South-Africa and the best retailer and parts I have access to (not limited to) can be found here: http://www.pcint.co.za/en/components , But no Noctua fans Parts that I aim to carry over from the previous build include an 8TB Seagate archive HDD, 4TB WD HDD, Samsung Evo 250 GB SSD, Thermaltake 700W PSU, PS2 Keyboard (if possible), USB mouse, USB WiFi, USB Printer, USB monitor calibrator, USB card reader, USB Cam, and DVI monitor. (need a lot of external USBs for new build) 2. Aim Aim 1: LIGHTROOM PERFORMANCE!!! (Adobe photo editing). Not a lot of 'Photoshop-ing'. Exporting and rendering previews can be run overnight (that is what she does on her current system), but she needs more performance during general tasks while editing, while having waaaay to many tabs open in a browser, and possibly running iTunes as well. CoolerMaster Hyper 612 V.2 Air Cooler - R 827 (63 USD) [low noise at under 20db, can be used without fans for a passive cooling, figured the 600Q has got good enough airflow already] Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR4-2400 Kit(4 x 8GB) Lpx with low-profile heatsink - R 3989 (302 USD) [So here I'm very unsure about memory size and speed, the MB spec says: "4x dual channel DDR4-4133(O.C)/2133 with XMP support up to 32Gb" Does that mean I can OC the RAM from 2400 - 4133, or do I OC the MB from 2133 to 2400, or can I run the 2400 at 2133, or is it better to just buy the 2133 RAM for about 13 USD less????? GPU - No Idea!!! - I just know that I want one with only one fan exhausting to the back of the case, not one of those with 3 fans, and should be able to handle 2x 4K monitors.. Suggestions? 5. hi guys! i'm new to this pc building thing and the vram confused me. should i buy the gtx 1060 3gb or the 1050ti 4gb variant? which card will last me longer? the games that i'm planning to play are PUBG Overwatch and gta 5. those kind of games and paired with r3 1200 or r5 1400.

What do you think about AM4? Will it last a few years more? Will there be more CPUs for this socket? Or will it just die* soon? *Be discontinued.

Hello. I'm working on building my first gaming PC but I'm not sure how much I should spend on a monitor. Regardless of budget, my main question is how long will a monitor that is around the $500-$700 price range last (ignoring the possibilities or accidental damage and stuff)? Also, do you think spending this much money on a monitor(even if you can afford it) is worth it? I apologize in advance if this question is too vague and if it is I will gladly go into more detail about the types of monitors I'm considering. Thanks for your help!

I am looking for a long term ultrabook. I stumbled upon the Razer Blade Stealth which has a great build quality, somewhat good keyboard and quite good specs. It seems too good of a deal to be true, so I really want to know if this thing would be able to work as a normal ultrabook for about 5 years. Please dont reccomend me other ultrabooks, because I am pretty sure I have seen it all. Also the XPS has a plastic/carbon fiber chassis which I am not a fan of, just saying.

I have used a Kingston A400 120G SSD for about a year and 4 months as a boot drive(with a few other programs and smaller games that i needed to be faster) and its wear indicator is at 86%. And from what i have read it made me believe it is a pretty significant decrease in this period of time, but i was not too worried because the performance and Spare Blocks indicators are at 100%. ( It has lifetime writes of 9.56 TB with a power on time of 253 days) Should i be a little more worried about this? And is the fact that it is basically most of the time only 8-10% free increasing the wear by a substantial amount?

Hi everyone! I am planning to move from India to Canada this December for a 2yr PG (Data Science) course. Being new in the country, I really want to know from where to buy a laptop and which brand has a decent yet affordable service here. Historical context out of the way ?, my main question is down below: I have to buy a new laptop as a requirement to my course and it should have the following rig: Intel I7 or AMD processor with chipset that must support virtualization 16 GB of RAM 1 TB hard drive Ethernet Network Card Wireless Network Card One USB 3.0 port (two preferred) 3 Yr comprehensive parts and labour (Recommended) Windows 10 Professional Edition My budget as of now is $1600 CDN. I can also stretch a little more if required. I am an ardent gamer as well, so the laptop would be used for gaming as well as college stuff (projects, programming, AI/ML fun stuff) So far, the two laptops that looks good to me are: 1) Alienware m15 2) Asus RoG strix hero Attached snapshots for both. I need some help if there are any other laptops that are better than this and would be great for me. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I have been running a i7-4790K with a GTX980 Windforce, 16GB RAM on a 144Hz G-Sync 1080p monitor for the last 4/5 years. Although it is still doing absolutely fine in all games if I choose medium/high graphics settings I want to upgrade to 1440p with a stable framerate (as high as possible on a 144Hz G-Sync 1440p monitor) but with at least a stable 80+ fps for the next 5 years. I am mostly up to date with current PC technology but am by far no expert when it comes to matching components so therefor reach out to you guys for a second opinion. Current build Upgrade build Attached image for quick comparison. Ignore prices. My plan is to only do a GPU upgrade, to a 2080 Super. I was considering a 2080 Ti but it's a little out of my budget so unless you think this is a better option for future prospects like DLSS and Raytracing I will consider it. But preferably not. Secondly I am questioning the potential bottlenecking of the CPU. I don't have it overclocked but would be possible if necessary. Reason for not upgrading the CPU is quite simply budget cuts because of the investment into the monitor. However I do plan to upgrade to a R5-3600 or higher in the nearby future if bottlenecking becomes troublesome. What are your opinions? Will a 2080 Super suffice my longevity criteria when running 1440p? Will the CPU already be troublesome? I have read mixed opinions on this matter, some report bottlenecking and some don't with mostly overclocked CPU's.
