I’ll give the facts of what happening and what I’m hoping to achieve. My setup: ISP modem is in bridge mode, they (ISP) have provided a static IP to me for years, even when I moved it has stayed the same. So the connection is passed off to my router (ASUS RT-AC5300) for handling. I have had everything setup the way I liked for years, static local IP’s for my NAS, main computer, my dedicated server (old PC repurposed) I use to host games online to play with people once in awhile, all the ports and forwarding ports, ect.. Unfortunately I believe my network was compromised; (Which doesn’t actually surprise me as I had RDP attacks in the past that been flagged when I had to use RDP to connect to my home system from out of town). Now to be fair, last month we had rapid power surges and the Router got turned off and on repeatedly within 3 seconds about with each surge for a good 5 to 6 mins before I got it unplugged. But still feel it’s compromised by an attacker who gain access. I went to log into my router as I noticed my main computer had network activity and wasn’t suspicious, just weird as it was for a server company I used to rent dedicated systems from and it kinda looks like their DNS being used. What I was met with was the router login screen and my credentials wouldn’t work (yes I rebooted the network). My username, and password wouldn’t let me login. Which is why I believe someone else managed to get in through my ISP IP and did who knows what, and then changed my login information. - The Plan - So everything is now unplugged till I can handle it tonight. it sucks having to start from scratch again, but times have changed and maybe someone more up to date on things could help me make sure I set everything up more secure and still be able to game online and once in a blue moon host a few games on my other system. I’m gonna put Asuswrt-Merlin on my RT-AC5300 to try out. I heard it can block attacks from know bad actors by a list using ipset. Also heard it VPN function can be assigned to devices / groups instead of putting the whole router into that VPN mode. I just need to know the best way to set it up to prevent anyone outside of the local network to get access to the GUI / login page. To keep it locked down, but yet easy to host game servers. Also when I do have to open a port for a game or something, what options do I have to insure no one listening for open ports, can’t take advantage of a game port opened.

Hi, I can't login to my Snapchat account. When ever I try to login on the Snapchat app it says this: “due to repeated failed attempts or other unusual activity your access to snapchat is temporarily disabled" And If I login the same account on my pc or on another device it just works and no error this time. It's only that I can't make a new account or loging any account on my main device. I also tried using VPN.

Hi guys, I have a problem with which I still get stuck after a few weeks: When I want to shut down the PC, personal files are synchronized with the NAS via PureSync. If this takes too long (more than a minute) Windows does not shut down but ends up in the logon screen. I would like to prevent this and switch off the login screen for good, so that even if the synchronization takes a long time, Windows shuts down afterwards. So far I have tried to solve this problem via the user account control: Likewise via the group guidelines: And through a self-created value in the registry: To clarify, here is a video on which you can see exactly what I mean: >>>Problem description as Youtube video<<< I hope you can help me. The goal is that no matter how long PureSync (or any other app) delays the shutdown, Windows will continue to "wait" until all apps are ready to be closed and then shut down. Thank you for your time and have a nice day Martin

Hi. I'm still exploring my new NAS, it's a DS220+ with the latest DSM 7, it's really my father's, I'm setting it up for him, and I'm having some trouble using Synology Photos. First I've been trying this "DS Photo" app on the Microsoft Store but it wont let me in and I can't find any other threads about this problem. I'm using all the right credentials, my QuickConnect ID, User and Password but it always spits out the same error "Connection failed with DiskStation. Check the network connection or the IP address" something like that translated from my language interface. So I hope there's a way to make this app work, I'm not even sure it's the official one but what other alternatives do I have to use my Synology Photos without going into DSM everytime. I don't have anything against DSM but my f****g Edge browser just wont autofill in the password, and I'm trying to use secure long passwords that I have to copy and past everytime from an Excel spreadsheet. On youtube I'm seeing a ton of videos praising and kissing ass about how great is the new Synology Photos app (I agree too, don't get me wrong) but not even one mentioning how to actually access it except from DSM.

So, I've recently been wondering about the "Login with [servicename] " for example "Login with google" and stuff like that. I'm wondering whether I could make an API like that, to connect my website and my game (FlyBall). To take the username from the website, and pass it to the highscore they get in the game. Is there anyone that could refer me to a tutorial about this kind of stuff? Thank you very much in advance.

It would be great if we could use the Fido U2F protocoll as a second factor to log in to the forum. Unfortunately, adoption is still quite scarce across the web but since LMG is quite a tech focused company this should even more be a reason to set a good example.

For a couple of days now the wireless internet has been inconsistent and sometimes hasn't been working at all. The internet itself is fine because Ethernet is working. Its just the wireless which was having issues. After a while I decided to reset the router, the router I have is the Night Hawk R8000. But its important to note that I have tomato firmware installed on it. After I reset the router I tried to log into it using the default logins so I can configure the router. But when I tried using the default logins of admin/@Newdig it didn't work, none of the logins I tried worked. I need your help to get access to the router or to get it into a configurable state.

First of all might be in the wrong category soo... whops, suggest which one is correct please I have a server setup at the moment to which I've generated SSH keys a long time ago. I've been using putty to connect to it and that's completely fine for what i mostly need, I know how to setup keys inside of there, etc. Recently though, I needed to use the Visual Studio Code SSH plugin to connect to a server and be able to browse/edit its files via VSC. One problem with that is that it pulls SSH keys from Windows, I'm not sure how to tell it which key to specifically use or anything as such, so I need to add a key into Windows, and existing key I already got. Is this possible to do? Everything else I've found online suggest generating SSH keys trough Windows itself, but I don't need that, I already got this setup and I want to continue using this specific key. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I recently logged into my Microsoft account on windows 10 using settings, to sync my Activation and settings to my account. Then i went for some important work.(computer went to sleep after 30 mins). When i came back and woke my PC from sleep then i cant sign in. The account username has changed and there is no box around the Sign in option. I restarted it several times. Also tried safe mode. But it doesn't go further than the windows login screen. 20210619_222005_1920x1080_20210619222808.mp4

BLUF: How do I prevent Windows from trying to log in if nothing is typed in the password field for the user at the login screen? Basically, I don't want to "waste" attempts at logging in by Windows trying to check credentials if nothing has been typed in the password field yet. Since it is going to fail, due to the not having typed in the password yet. Sometimes when trying to get a system to respond and switch from the welcome screen to the login screen, I hit enter more than needed and the system is slow to respond but remembers all the times I hit enter, and tries to log in without my password. This is more of just an annoyance, but is there a way to set Windows to not even attempt to check credentials if no password is entered? Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere, I tried to find old topics but its a bit too niche but the search terms I'm using.

Whenever I try to create a yahoo account it ends up in failure. It says "Too many failed attempts, we cannot create an account for you right now". I never made a failed login or account creation attempt so I don't know what this is about. There's a captcha during the registration process and I do not fail it, there's a green checkmark on there so I have no idea why the registration fails after that. I tried registering from a different network and device. Same issue. Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on?

Right, i want to convert my account to just an email and password login, instead of logging in via twitter. On some forums, you can simply unlink twitter and it will ask you to pick a username and password, here i get this: Sorry, there is a problem You cannot disassociate Twitter because you have no other method of signing in. Error code: 1C122/I Is there any way to do this? i'm happy to keep my username but i would like to set an individual password, and unlink from twitter. - Norman

Ive searched all over the googles and have only found how to access the "color control" and a few other basic registry editor keys for changing the login screen color or the Lock screen. Im trying to change my Login screen from a default color. All i want is to change the log in screen to Black. Thats it. If you have information how to change my desktop background image or color, the Lock screen image or color or how to change the taskbar or anything else on the desktop, please Do Not respond. Im looking to change the Sign-in screen only. So my question is How do i change it to a solid black (eg: 000000) in the registry editor or possibly insert a black image file?

Hi, I have a Lenovo Yoga 510-14ISK running Windows 10 build 14393. A few months after i bought this laptop my username and password box wouldn't show up every time i locked or started the pc for the first time. I already did a fresh install of Windows and replaced the drive with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD, Windows is set to boot in 'normal' mode (so safe mode is disabled). Is this a known bug for this build or am i doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hi. Lately I have come across errors regarding other users being able to login. When I go to login to my user account, I didn't see other user accounts show up in the lower left of the login screen or Start Menu. Currently my PC is running Windows 10 Home 64-bit Version 1607 Build 14393.693. To provide some context, I was trying to fix an error with a user account. It pulled up a window that said "We can't sign into your account" after logging in. I tried a few guides that showed a possible fix for it, using the registry, navigating to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList and editing a few files in it, particularly ProfileImagePath to the correct user key, RefCount, State, and switching around two corresponding keys in ProfileList, with one having a .bak ending based on a guide from Microsoft. (RefCount and State weren't edited) After I did that and restarted, I found that I couldn't login to my user account, only the affected user account. I did a system restore from Control Panel and found that it didn't bring back the other users in the login page. I found that the users folder looks to be unaffected, with the user folders still there, and I could still see/manage the other user accounts in Control Panel. I tried sfc /scannow and chkdsk /f, none of which detected errors. I'm thinking about using Automatic Repair, System Restore in Safe Mode/System Recovery, using an old registry backup and pulling the appropriate key (ProfileList or something), use this YouTube video on fixing Windows 10 startup problems, and if worst comes to worst, reinstall Windows and hopefully keep something. Are there any more options I could use to fix this issue? Out of this situation, I now have something to reflect upon that would help me remember to keep backups and failsafes more often. If I do manage to pull myself out of this pickle, if another user account gets the "We can't sign into your account" dialog, I'm thinking that deleting the user account and transferring the old data to the new account would be a better option. With sincere thanks, NoobTechUser

Hey everyone. So my when i logged onto my pc I noticed my cursor did move but i couldn't click anything. I did a scan in de the command prompt and I had to restart my pc, no problems yet. When I wanted to login I didn't see the prompt bar where i'm supposed to type my password... Alright then lets see if I can get into safe mode and see what I can do there using these ways: Pressed Windows icon + r to launch a run command - No response Pressed the space, enter, and any other buttons to launch a password prompt - no response Tried to start up the Windows 10 using F8 safe mode (I know it does not work for Windows 10 but I tried anyway) Can anyone help me out so i can log in again? (My apologies for my bad English)

(I'm running Windows 10) Hello. So this afternoon I shut down my PC. and the moment after, I forgot something and I turned it on again. But I was confused because once I got into the welcome screen, the login prompt (I locked my pc with a password) is missing. Usually when the welcome screen has showed up, I press enter and It takes me to the login prompt, but this time it's just blur background and I can't do anything besides pressing the network, windows helper, power button. What I'm confused is that before I shut down my PC it was fine and I didn't install anything that will break my PC ( I only installed Mass Effect 2 on origin earlier). And I recently purchased a monitor that has a freesync in it. I tried going into safe mode, and the login prompt is accessible in there and I tried to delete the password while in there but it's still not working (the welcome screen just stuck and blurred like earlier). I also tried to restore a system point and It's still the same (it seems that it's not coming from the softwares and application) Edit: Here's what I'm talking about : https://imgur.com/gallery/5bnch Edit 2: Edited the tittle. OS: Windows 10 (64bit) Mobo: G1.Sniper B6 CPU: i5-4690k VGA: Gigabyte GTX 750ti PSU: Corsair VS450w

Someone I know contacted me with a problem today and I don't exactly know what to do. When she tried to start up her laptop (Asus ROG not shure wich one) and tried to log in it said a program was interfering with her login attempt. Then she restarted her laptop and it brought her to the update schreen (the one where it says hello there are new updates ready for you this will only take a few minutes) and it has been stuck there for the past 5 hours, i've been trying to think of something but I honestly can't so I'm hoping anyone here can help me further. Thanks in advance

Hi Guys! We are about to move from being mostly Mac-users at my company, to buying new windows 10 based laptops. The issue i am having is with samba login. In Macs file manager i have an option to switch which user i am logged in as on my samba share. A little button that says "Connect as..." This is a very important choice to have, as most of our users are only guest-accounts, and the IT-admins have user-accounts to access software shares. The guest users are students and are not supposed to have access to the software share. The problem is that i cannot find a simple solution to this problem on windows. Linux and Mac work fine. I know about the CMD solution to unmount with a command and then mount with another command. This to me is an unnecessary complicated process, when i know that SHOULD be possible to just have the simple function. I have googled and tested various file managers for windows, but no one had the function i am looking for. Help me please! Kind regards, Will

Hello, I just purchased a used Palo Alto PA-4050, and the seller seems to not have changed their password for the management options. Is there a way to do a hard factory reset, or any other way to access the management console? The default username/password or admin/admin is not working. Also, is there a power switch or anything of that sort, or is it safe to just pull the plug on it? I don't know how to correctly power it off, but I need to turn it off since I am only temporarily working on it at this location. If I sound like a noob, it's because this is my first firewall. I am studying CIT and I thought it would be good for my education if I could buy one of these to work on at home. Any help is appreciated.

I am having a fairly major issue with my PC that only started this last Monday… It would be easier for you to look at my profile for the specs than for me to write them all in here. Basically, whenever I turn my computer on, it posts then shows the windows logo with the loading icon, then once that is done, it just stops. The display goes black and stays that way. It sounds to me as if the computer then tries to restart, going by the noise it makes. If I then unplug all but one monitor and wait a while, it recovers, displays the login screen and allows me to continue. The strange thing is that if I only plug one monitor in, doesn’t matter which one, it starts perfectly fine when I first turn it on, shows me the login screen and allows me to use it normally. Now the super strange bit… Once logged in and fully ready to use, if I then plug another monitor in, it accepts it and adapts windows to suit. Then, I can plug the third one in, no trouble and all three work at the same time as if nothing was wrong! However, if I plug them in before it is finished booting or too quickly after each other, they all freeze, go black and the whole thing just halts. It’s odd because if I then unplug all but one again, it eventually recovers but it seems like the OS freezes too for the duration, because it doesn’t finish booting in the background, but continues once the display is back up. When it locks itself after not being used for a while, I’ve had it sometimes freeze and not display anything, but sometimes I am able to unlock it again just fine. I have tried taking the GPU out and plugged two of the monitors straight into the motherboard, which it didn't seem to mind. I have tried turning it off at the wall for several seconds, rolling back the graphics driver, reverting to a restore point, doing a full scan with Malwarebytes, fixing registry errors with CCleaner and checking for bios and windows updates, none of which worked. I have restarted it so many times now and every time, it does the same thing. I am currently back on the latest graphics driver (378.92). I have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, version 1607, build 14393.969, Bios version 1504 . Help would be much appreciated!

How can I remove the login screen from my Kali pi? I need to do it because SSH doesn't do anything until I'm logged in, making headless mode impossible. (I've tried rc.local and the other rc.something to get ssh to run on boot, still does nothing)

Hey there when I had windows 10 installed using an OFFLINE account when i booted from a cold boot it would take 10+ mins to log in.... anyone know why
