  1. YouTube and OBS are working to develop support for AV1 and HEVC RTMP. This means that later down the line (fairly soon) livestreaming on YouTube will support H.264, H.265 and AV1 live ingest over RTMP. According to some documentations it is still in beta testing but progress seems to be getting closer to AV1 and HEVC livestreaming support. There also seems to be plans coming from YouTube to later support HDR livestreaming now that the implementation of AV1 and HEVC are in the works. AV1 has also been tested on NVENC as well as Intel encoders. Summary Progress for AV1 and HEVC for live ingest over RTMP is making fast progress with it going into Beta. Quotes My thoughts I think having RTMP support for AV1 and HEVC is gonna change the live streaming space for the better. Having better quality optimisation for lower bandwidth streaming is gonna make live streaming more accessible for people as well as for the viewers (countries which have poor internet infrastructure). However, I am curious with how sophisticated HEVC is compared to H.264 are the latency times gonna increase already on top of what we are currently experiencing now? Is AV1 gonna allow for much closer real time latency for higher resolutions like 4K60? Overall, I think its great to see new standards be implemented within the livestreaming space and with new hardware like the RTX 4000 series it will be interesting to see how their dual AV1 chips as well as on Intel come into play. 2. This may not make any sense but i'll a give it a shot.... I am 'on charge' of running the tech team for a small church that my dad ministers, we use the (5 input) Fender Passport conference portable P.A system (not my choosing but we work with what we got) but it doesn't have any outputs for recording - plugging in to the headphone out won't work as it creates a loud buzzing sound. The ultimate goal is to live stream with obs. We have a focusrite scarlet solo we used in lockdown and could use a mixer but don't want to as we don't own a building and we have to setup and tear down every Sunday morning in a rented conference room. If any one has any solutions or if you require any extra information plz reply. Thanks - Calum P.s - I'm only in my early teens so don't have huge knowledge in this kind of stuff :D
  3. Hey guys Guys I need help with my recording. I was live streaming using Streamlabs when my computers plug got yanked and the computer shutdown. The stream I was recording doesn't open now and I need the file to edit it. The images are what it looks like and what a normal one should look like. If anyone could help me recover the file it would help me so much. Thanks

Budget (including currency): $2000 (but I don't mind going a tad over) Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, OBS, Skype, Minecraft, Discord Other details To be frank with you all, I know nothing about PCs. I've spent nearly a decade on Macbook Pros but never considered investing in a PC until I started using more heavy duty applications. I really just need to be able to have multiple programs open at once (ie. OBS and Skype) and not encounter difficulties with streaming like encoding overloads. I've done some research and I think I've found a build I really like! Any help would be amazing. Thanks again! I've spent nearly a decade on Macbook Pros but never considered investing in a PC until I started using more heavy duty applications. I'm starting from scratch. I need a PC plus a monitor and I don't know where to start. I really just need to be able to have multiple programs open at once (ie. OBS and Skype) and not encounter difficulties with streaming like encoding overloads. I also need a lot of space. I plan to edit rather high quality video and possibly 4k in the future. I think I've settled on a CPU (AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz 8-Core Processor) but that's about it. I definitely want to have some kind of color aesthetic and I'm looking for purple/pink. Someone of reddit created a build for me but I don't know if it's any good (and it's a little too expensive for me). 7. dont know if this will be useful but overkill on cores just get as many cores as you can afford. i encode now in x264 with amd 3970x since NVENC on the 3090FE cant handle a 4k stream almost on anything. (single rig setup) nvenc is a great idea but its far from the answer to pushing out the best possible quality but that will change down the road as more of the tech is allowed. i can do this and run CPU heavy games wile still only using 18% - 25% of my cpu ...this setup can run an 8k stream but you will struggle to find a platform that can host it outside of your own website's thresholds
  8. I have a camera in a building which I would like to turn into some sort of rtsp stream, so I can view it from my house in vlc. How do I take a sdi/hdmi video feed and turn it into a video(rtsp) stream. Do i need a computer or are there some sort of box available.
  9. Hey guyz. Sorry for my bad english. I have a pretty old machine.. the specs are : Xeon X5670 @4.20 ghz on asus p6t mobo 12 gb ddr3 ram in triple channel rx 570 4gb now the problem is i am streaming on youtube for quite a while but now i am trying to tweek the quality a little bit of my stream.. so now i m using the following major settings in streamlabs OBS.. Bitrate : 3500 Encoder : x264 software Fast preset now i am not sure some people in the chat are suggesting me.to use an amd hardware encoder.. the reviews i heared about amd encoder are not really good.. so i wanna ask is it better then x264? i wanna get a temporary solution for my quality.. i will upgrade my gpu to nvidia for NVENC encoder.. but i need some time.for that and i cannot stop streaming right now so anyone who will help me i will really appreciate that
  10. Hello, First I want to say I don't need help for a FULL build I just need to figure out the best CPU and motherboard combo for what we are doing... I might want some RAM recommendations too. And of course I am open to other suggestions. Also I want to know if there is anything wrong with the Idea's I putting foreword. I need to build a new computer this week for our live stream setup. We are working on increasing the quality of stream and we need a new PC. I have been battling the question of what CPU to go with for quite some time(3-4 weeks). Our current rig using an i7 4770K on a Asus Maximus VI Hero. And our main issue is that it is running out of PCI lanes/bandwidth to run all the capture cards we have. I thought the best answer would be go AMD thread ripper... I have had issues with AMD in the past BUT I been hearing so many good things about them now... Also they are the only company supporting more PCI lanes which is what we NEED. HOWEVER the only Threadripper Motherboards I have found only has 4 PCI card slots. Which would work but makes upgrades harder... We only need 1 GPU and 2 capture cards for now... However in a few years we might need 1-2 more capture cards and another GPU to run other stage monitors with. That isnt including any extra Network or other expansion cards we might want/need. So I thought about going server board route... The AMD server chips have even more PCI lanes... However the issues with the boards is the I/O on the back we still need/want normal I/O but most of the server boards are super limited making us need the PCI card slots for more addon cards. Also this is a show critical PC and we want/need quick boot/reboot times and server boards are not quick. So now I am thinking of looking back at Intel CPU's and boards... But non of their CPU's have "enough" PCI lanes as I would like to have without spending time validating our use case with the hardware. However I am open and considering Intel CPU and Boards. I would like to hear any recommendations on what you think I should look at or what is known good. I am most leaning towards using a Threadripper 3960X with the GIGABYTE TRX40 AORUS XTREME OR ASRock TRX40 CREATOR. My issues is that I have had bad experiences with these companies in the past but trust Gigabyte more and Asus the most. Also the reviews for the boards are few and less then 4.5 stars for ones I like. Things I need: - Support for at least 128Gb of ram - Quad channel ram support - 10G network (dual 10G would be nice but 10G+1G would be fine) - minimum of 4 PCI express x16 slots - 2x M.2 slots (or more) - 6x USB 3.0 or faster ports in the back and 2x more USB 2 or higher for keyboard mouse - Need support for at least 33 PCI Gen3 lanes for CPU and at most we need 44 Lanes Gen3 as far as I can guess Budget (including currency): $4,000-$7,000 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Capturing multiple 4k camera inputs (6-12) and live mixing them in real time to stream out to the internet. Also running multiple monitors (2-5), potentially stage wall screens (unknown). Other details: Most monitors will be 1080, 1440, or 4k most likely 1x4k and 2x 1440p monitors Capture Cards we are looking at or might use: Decklink Quad HDMI Recorder - PCI Express 8 lane generation 3 Decklink 8k Pro - PCI Express 8 lane generation 3 Decklink 4k Extreme 12G - PCI Express 8 lane generation 2 Decklink Quad 2 - PCI Express 8 lane generation 2 DeckLink SDI Micro - M.2 PCI Express 1 lane generation 3, compatible with B and M key type 2260 and 2280. GPU(s) for the system: 1-2x NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2080 Ti Let me know if any further information would be best
  11. How do I live stream videos to a DLNA device? The device is a generic chinese stick based on an ARM processor with 256MiB of RAM, and Intel UPnP stack. It identifies as "Intel DLNA DMR". I can play videos from HTTP and HTTPS URLs but it won't play HLS (m3u8 playlists) and it panics when I try to play a RTMP/RTMPe URL... Is there a chance I can live stream video to it? I have been also thinking of generating chunks of video 5 seconds long, then every 5 seconds playing a chunk and generating the next chunk while the current one is playing, but that seems like too much work... I'm using NodeJS to talk to it using SSDP and DLNA.
  12. Hello LTT community I'm in the works of upgrading a workstation I use for streaming and recording live events, also storing and uploading the recorded events. I am looking to either build one from scratch or buy a system that maybe just need a few components added, like capture card and RAM. I am not really up to date with workstations geared towards this kind of stuff... using 2 socket motherboards and Xeon processors so I need some advice/help as to what exactly should I go with. Also, I need this workstation to be somewhat future proof as I hope it can last for at least 7...10 years. Currently, I am working with the following system, it is about 8 years old. It is due for an upgrade. System Model Precision WorkStation T5400 System Type x64-based PC Processor Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5450 @ 3.00GHz, 2992 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) Processor Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5450 @ 3.00GHz, 2992 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) 16GB RAM Not sure what capture card it has, I can get that information later. Not sure what Graphics Card it has. I guess my first question is, is there a prebuilt system sold by manufacturers that is pretty easy to work with, upgrade and add stuff to it? Maybe like Dell? Or is it better for me to just build the system myself? Here are a couple of things I think are required for this. 1. Dual Socket Motherboard with decent Xeon chips. 2. SSD for programs and OS. Maybe like 500GB. 3. at least 3 spaces for HDD for storage 4. Reliable system, very important. I need it run without problems after all is setup. 5. All components to be well supported by its manufacturers as far drivers.. I am not sure what else I need this system to be. Any and all advice is much appreciated!!
  13. I really want to live stream but my internet is trash and this is the best i can get in my area. http://www.speedtest.net/result/6186580377 1.4 up isnt great but what would be the best settings for a watchable stream. I would really want to play multiplayer games like overwatch and battlegrounds. I do youtube as well but i really feel live streaming would be more fun. Thanks
  14. Hi there! My wife and I have been troubleshooting her OBS since she seems to not be able to play games while streaming with a decently strong CPU of an AMD - FX 8350 OC to 4.20 Ghz, 8 GB of DDR3 Ram and a GTX 760. The issue lies with it randomly start lagging the game bringing it from a solid 60 fps to lower 12 or lower randomly. We changed a lot of presets from Encoder Preset from Veryfast to ultrafast and the issue still happens. She really want's to stream but the fact that she can't even play it while streaming and losing frames is beyond us. Note: I also downloaded a temp test for the CPU and it was around the 60 C so I don't think that is bringing the CPU down.
  15. Hey LTT community, I'm looking at starting a live stream but I want to try and keep it friendly to younger audiences and my grandma; that kind of thing. To that end, I'm looking for some way to censor cursing and strong language from video games on the fly. Optimally An automatic word recognition solution would be epic. But more practically a macro I can tie to one of my mouse keys to bleep the audio in a buffered delay would also work. I know that standard news censor work by live editing the buffer between the recording and the broadcast using fancy external boxes and whatnot but I'm looking for a software solution that would work with Xplit or OBS or independently of them. Any ideas?
  16. Hello!I run a business where I record student classical music recitals at my college. These days, many people want to share their performances via a live stream. Who should I contact in order to get permissions to stream a copyrighted work? What licences do I need? Who do I contact to show I have obtained proper licencing to keep my stream from being pulled down? Additionally, what platform/streaming software might you guys recommend for this? Thanks! -Matt
  17. I'm thinking of putting together a gaming/live streaming rig for my growing YouTube channel. I'm currently using OBS for software and relying on hardware encoding. I'm currently doing 1080p HD content but want to grow past that. Hoping to pick up VR content and 1440p which is currently beyond my current rig can sustain. I'm planning on waiting till after thread ripper has been on the market for a few months to see how intel responds. Is there anything that I should be looking into or be aware of that could bork a solid rig or pocket book for this use case?
  18. I was a bit hesitant to build a dedicated live streaming machine since I already have a NAS plus my gaming rig, but came to the conclusion it would be best to have a dedicated computer for streaming. For the chassis I was hoping for a slim micro (or small form factor) atx for easy transportation for special streams with friends where all of us meet up. If a window is present in the chassis I would prefer the components to either be white or black. I was never a fan of a green motherboard with blue ram and a yellow whatever. The motherboard I am hoping for USB 3.0/3.1 and USB Type C. On a daily use I will only be using two Elagto HD60 Capture cards(already own), but for those special streams I would LIKE the option of having the computer being able to handle an additional four capture Elgato HD60 capture cards. For the motherboard I was looking at the Asus Rog Maximum Vlll Gene LGA 1151 z170 which looks perfect. - Total Budget $1200, but lower is better. edit: I know that the motherboard is probably overkill, but at the same time I like the fact that it supports m.2 plus has USB type C
  19. I'm trying to livestream using obs and I have a capture card and everything needed to do it but the live view coming from the camera to the computer is terrible quality. I'm using the Nikon D3400. It's a 1080 capture card unbranded. It honestly looks like a 480 in video quality and very pixelated. I've tried looking at other YouTube videos on settings and how they get their picture to be so clear but nothing has helped. I realize I'm not using a high-end camera but why is it that I can take a video from the camera and it looks pretty good but when I take a live feed from the camera to the PC it looks terrible?
  20. Can I use my laptop for streaming and video recording/editing, or will I need to build a more competent desktop? I purchased a Microsoft Surface Laptop (1) about two years ago as a light and portable general use laptop for college work, and it served me well for that purpose. However, my future plans recently changed such that my computing needs have shifted. I'm currently trying to build a computer setup for live-streaming and content creation for sites like Twitch and YouTube. I'm planning on using either OBS studio or Elgato Game Capture HD to set up and stream content to Twitch and later edit footage down for YouTube audiences. I was hoping to use my laptop for this, but in basic testing its CPU was pinned at 96-99% while only working on basic rendering of captured content (at 720p). My laptop just wasn't designed to deal with sustained CPU intensive loads. It has an Intel Core i5 7200U with 2 cores and a supposed 2.71GHz base speed. It has terrible cooling though, so it seems to clock itself down to the 1.4-1.9GHz range to compensate. I need a computer that can perform the following tasks: Rendering content from multiple inputs (HDMI capture, webcam, microphone, overlays) for live-streaming at 1080p. Editing video and audio at a basic to moderate level I'm currently using these peripherals: An old 1080p VGA monitor (hooked up via a mini-DP to VGA adapter) as a secondary monitor A USB 3 powered hub Audio equipment hooked up via my laptop's audio jack Is there any way I can make my laptop work, or will I need a new PC? I'd like to use my laptop if I can, so suggestions for how I could better cool my laptop would also be appreciated; it has an aluminum chassis, but few ventilation holes. I think I could make my Surface work for the time being if I could get it to stop overheating. If I do need a new PC, I'll write up a more detailed "ideal" specs list and go from there. Any help or advice will be appreciated!
  21. I'm a first-time builder looking for advice and opinions on the parts I've chosen. I'm currently working on building a desktop PC that will primarily be used for gaming, live-streaming, and video editing. I want to be able to live-stream at 1080p at 60fps while making full use of programs, and plan to edit video footage starting at 1080p but potentially moving up in resolution in the future to as much as 4k. I also want to have the capability to do 3D modeling and design work in the future, as that's something I have interest in doing. I have two old office-type 1080p monitors at the moment, but I'd like to upgrade one of them in the future to a higher-refresh 1440p or above monitor. My total budget for this build is about $1,300 USD; this is about the highest I can justify going at the moment. My ideal aesthetic is monochrome black and white with few highlights. I believe I've covered everything I'll need below, but if there may be cables or items I haven't considered. I'm really just looking to make sure everything I have will go together well and work before I buy. As I don't yet have the experience to know a lot of this stuff on my own, I'm hoping to find help here. If anyone has revisions they think would be more optimal for my core parts or information I might not know, please let me know! Any help would be appreciated. ? Here's what I have so far (pcpartpicker list here): For my CPU, I've chosen the Ryzen 7 3700X. From my research, it seems to provide more than enough power for anything I'd regularly throw at it while still having enough in reserve for multitasking and running future programs. It's a recent and very well-rounded chip that lies at the threshold of my budget. CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X (~$300 US) For my CPU cooler, I chose one that got fair ratings for the price point and matches a black and white aesthetic. I think it should be able to handle the 3700X's 65 watt TDP. ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO CPU Cooler (~$50 US) I wanted a graphics card that would be able to handle most loads very well but not destroy my bank account. For a moderate price and good looking specs on paper, I chose to get a variant of the GTX 1660 Super. GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB DUAL EVO OC (~$240 US) I figure 16 GB of DDR4 RAM should be enough for now, and that's an easy upgrade if I ever feel I need 32. I've picked out a well-priced kit with a sleek look. The only thing that gives me slight pause is the lack of reviews for this product, so any opinions on this choice would be appreciated. Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory (~$95 US) Since I'm going into content creation, I know I'll have to work with a lot of large programs and heavy files. I've chosen a 500GB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 NVME drive to act as a boot drive and to store programs and frequented files. I'm also going to add a large hard drive for storing files I'm not currently working on. I'll add extra storage and backup drives if my plans work as intended, but can't afford to purchase them now. Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (~$90 US) Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (~$90 US) Knowing what I want to put on it, I chose my motherboard. I'm not very experienced at picking these, but I wanted to choose one with future upgrades in mind. Due to that, I thought it would be best to go with an X570 board. I also wanted one with a mostly black and white aesthetic and without too much RGB or colored highlighting. I thought that this Asus board would fit well. Asus PRIME X570-P ATX AM4 Motherboard (~$145 US) Since I'd found myself favoring a black and white clean aesthetic, I wanted my case to conform to that as well. I also wanted one with solid airflow and sleek design that could make a statement but not be obnoxious whilst sitting on my desk. The Fractal Design Meshify C in white ticked all of those boxes. Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case (~$90 US) As for my power supply, I wanted something at least semi-modular but not too pricey, since my build was beginning to stress the budget I had set forth. I chose this one, which seemed to be a good deal, but I'm not sure how ideal it is for this build. I think this is the one item I'm most likely to change out if a better option is found. EVGA BQ 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply (~$85 US) Add on a Windows 10 key (~$100 US) and a tube of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (~$8 US). In total, the build is looking to cost me approximately $1,282 before any sales tax. This is right about the threshold of my budget, and I don't think I can justify going any further at the moment without good reason. With that said, please don't hesitate to tell me if there's anything I'm missing here. Also, please let me know if there are any obvious ways to save money that I may have missed. I'll shop around for bargains once my parts list is finalized. Cheers!
  22. So, I have a computer I am about to upgrade. It currently has a Pentium G3250 in it, but I am going to upgrade it to an i5 4460. It has 8gb of RAM and a Radeon HD 7570. I am upgrading this computer because I want to livestream myself playing older and lighter video games (CS:GO, CoD MW2, Rocket League, etc.) for 24 hours straight. Does this PC sound capable of handling that task?
  23. Hey Everyone, My name is Johnny and I am reaching out to you because I am an aspiring Live Streamer. I happen to have two systems. The specs are as follows: Widowmaker: Threadripper 1950X Gigabyte X399 Aorus Gaming 7 G.Skill TridentZ RGB 3200MHz DDR4 Dual Channel 2x16GB (To cut costs) EVGA GTX 1060 SSC 6GB (Going to upgrade to a 1080/1180) Enermax Liqtech TR4 280mm AIO Razer: FX-8370 Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 G.Skill Sniper 1866MHz DDR3 Dual Channel 2x8GB 2x XFX RX 470 4GB Limited NZXT Kraken X62 240mm AIO I am wondering if I were to use my Elgato HD60 Pro to capture my desktop game-play if I would see better performance through the Elgato instead of doing "Game Capture"? Any ideas, suggestions, or tips would help and be appreciated. Thank you, JustGamingJohnny
  24. Just a little bit of background information, my dad helps out with plays at our local schools and his current goal is to be able to live stream all of the performances. He doesn't want to be limited by hardware so budget isn't really an issue here and he wants to be able to grow into the equipment and not buy the minimum required. We want to be able to stream at 4k 30fps on YoutubeLive and need to know what we need to fill out our setup in order to do this hardware/software wise. Here's a list of the current hardware that we have. Blackmagic design Hyperdeck Studio Mini Blackmagic Design ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K Live Production Switcher Sony BRC-X1000 Sony PXW-Z150 4K XDCAM Camcorder
  25. Hi, I recently saw JayzTwoCents video on fortnite on a budget. Essentially he had a AMD Ryzen 5 2400g CPU and paired it with 16 GB of 2400 ram. He gets about 60 frames on about medium settings. Once he puts in a graphics card he bumps all the way up to high settings easily playing the game. This build seems very valuable to me since I'm just getting into PC gaming and GPU prices are crazy ridiculous due to mining. My question: I want to be able to stream at least 720p to youtube. If I bump the CPU up to a Ryzen 7 1700x, will streaming be successful at 60 fps even at lowest settings(on fortnite) ? I have a youtube channel started up and streaming is such a great influence for the channel. Thank you to any and all responses / suggestions. I also currently have a laptop with a GeForce 940mx and a dual core Intel processor (definitely not enough to stream as I have tried it before) I also produce videos, so a machine that could (relatively) quickly render videos would be a great plus. PS. I would go for a budget PC. With a GPU and all, but I want to have some upgrade ability, and this seems like a very solid, clean option to me.
