  1. Hey guys before i start here is the build I am planning. Processor: i7-8700k Graphics Card: Asus Strix gtx 1080ti OC edition Motherboard: Asus ROG MAXIMUS X FORMULA RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3200Mhz 32GB Storage: Samsung 960 pro evo 500gb m.2 nvme ssd + 4tb barracuda hdd + 500 gb samsung regular ssd PSU: Corsair hx850i Case: Corsair Crystal 570x Now to the topic at hand. I am hoping to overclock my i7-8700k chip to 5.0 Ghz. I am going to be using AIO watercooling with a push pull configuration, my question is mostly about choice. The case would be running 3 intake, 3 exhaust fans. Aesthetics wise my favorite cooler is the NZXT Kraken X52 240mm AIO. But I am not sure if I should be able to attain a 5.0 Ghz overclock. In any and all situations I would replace the provided thermal paste with higher quality market ones such as the arctic silver. My questions are therefore as follows: 1) Do you think a 240mm radiator would be sufficient in push-pull or do i need a 360mm one? 2) If i do indeed need a 360mm radiator, what would be your recommendation? Despite wanting very high performance I do care about the aesthetics of the build and therefore am against using thermaltakes disgusting looking 360mm AIO due the the heatsink cover. 3) Disregarding questions 1 and 2, to attain such an overclock is delidding the processor necessary? 4) any other recommendations or words of advice you can give me concerning the matter?
  2. AIO for 8700k

Recommend a good AIO cooler for 8700k build. I was considering NZXT Kraken but some of the reviews are not good. A subtle RGB ring on the CPU bracket is preferred.
  3. Hey everybody. I bought a Cooler Master Masterliquid 240 (the standard one, not the lite or pro) and installed in on my Ryzen 7 1700 for better temps compared to the Wraith Spire for overclocking. Ever since I've installed it I've noticed this weird trickling sound. When I first installed the cooler it was happening constantly, but after a while it pretty much disappeared, but it still occurs from time to time when the system is idling. I'd describe the sound as some droplets of water going into a cup of water that's a 1/4 full, and quite quickly at that. This is my first time using a CLC, so is this normal behaviour, or is something up? I've included a picture of the inside of my rig for reference. If you look at the tubing of the cooler, you can see that the tubing isn't exactly straight, I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. Thanks for your time
  4. Introducing the B-Tech Arctic computer case! At only 5.2 liters of internal volume, it's one of the smallest ITX cases with full-length GPU support on the market! (That's right, smaller than the RVZ03 or even the Sentry case!) The Arctic case achieves a stunningly accurate "console aesthetic" look thanks to it's glossy plastic exterior construction, ample vent holes, and clean, screw-free external design, including on the back and bottom! But just because your computer looks like a console doesn't mean it should perform like one! That's why Arctic supports full-length GPUs and comes standard with built-in liquid cooling! It even includes a built-in 1500W DC power supply (2x compact 750W AC bricks), with future battery-pack expansion planned! But it doesn't end there. The Artic isn't called "Arctic" for nothing. It's got built-in sub-zero cooling capable of handling over 550W of total system heat dissipation! That means your system could be cooled down to 0° C FREEZING even at LOAD! And if you don't want the extra power consumption and noise, you can simply swap the Arctic A/C Block in the loop out for the regular Radiator Block, thanks to our custom designed quick-swap fittings that allow detaching parts of the cooling loop without draining! Sign up for the mailing list here! For progress updates and to be notified when our Kickstarter Campaign goes live! But of course, you need photos! Here are some 3D renders. These are NOT proof of concept renders. They are taken using the real model, not a striped-down version missing internal structure or interconnects. The Arctic Case in Glacier White. The top intake is a custom designed ~100mm RGB 4-pin fan. The final design will also have a backlit logo on top. The case can be opened quickly and easily thanks to the innovative magnetic-latch system, which sends power and data for the LED illumination through magnetized contacts, making the case side-panels totally wire-free. Arctic Case in Cobalt Black: From the side, you can see the 360° addressable RGB LED ring. A non-slip rubber pad with an intricate pattern lines the bottom of the case to give it a two-tone look. From the front you can see 3 of the 8 individually controllable 4-pin exhaust fans. A/C units connected to the watercooling loop with a custom copper heatsink block are positioned behind these to achieve CPU/GPU temps BELOW ambient! And did I mention there's a flipping TURBO BUTTON!? You'll also notice there's no power button. That's because it's capacitive! To turn the system on, simply tap the left-front area of the case. Of course, you're probably also wondering how on earth we're controlling 10 independent 4-pin fans (including the pump) and over 70 zones of RGB lighting... Well, existing 4-pin fan splitters are not able to control fan speed independently or even report individual fan speed, leaving you with no way to ensure your fans/pumps are still working properly, not to mention they're way to big to fit in a case this small, so we decided to come up with our own solution. Introducing the Arctic Control Board! Able to control 12 independent 4, or even 3-pin fans with per-fan auto-config and per-fan RPM control. Plus, it has RGB lighting control, capacitive touch circuitry, A/C cooling control, case-open detect, and even front-panel IO! Front IO: 1x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0 2x Reassignable HD Audio Jacks RGB Illuminated Capacitive Power Button w/ Adjustable Sensitivity User-Configurable Turbo Button (Mechanical MX Blue-like Switch, because why not) What's Included with the Case: The case. Obviously. Custom 1500W PSU (98.5% DC-side efficiency, not cheap!) w/ Dual (also custom) 750W AC Power Bricks. Pre-assembled copper CPU & GPU water loop. Universal CPU waterblock. Dual thermoelectric A/C radiator units. 8x 60mm side fans, 1x slim ~100mm RGB intake fan. 64 pixel 360° addressable LED ring. Dual-channel smart RGB controller & 12-channel 3/4-pin PWM driver with per-fan RPM feedback. And, if you don't want to build a system yourself, pre-built configurations featuring delided 7th-gen Intel i7 CPUs, ASRock Z270 Motherboards, NVMe SSD Storage, and watercooled NVIDIA 1060, 1070 Ti, or 1080 Ti GPUs will also be available, starting at only $920! We already designed and tested PCBs, prototyped proof-of-concepts, and part-fit tested with cardboard, foamboard, etc. But we're not there yet! Here's what still needs to happen: Plastic case prototype, More part-fit testing. Refining pressure-fit and screw hole sizes based on material properties. Kickstarter video! Building an epic system in the thing! Once we've done all that, we can launch the campaign to gather funds for entering production! Current estimated launch date: Mid-February, 2018. Sign up for the mailing list here! For progress updates and to be notified when our Kickstarter Campaign goes live! B-Tech Arctic. Compact Liquid-Cooling for the Masses!
  5. I am considering getting a couple servers and keeping them in my room. I know that servers are normally loud so i was cooling to water cool it. I also didn't want to put out more heat into my room so i had the idea to use a phase change cooler to cool the coolant (probably antifreeze) but would the temps affect acrylic or glass and is there anything else that would be wrong with this.
  6. Hey all, So this will be my first build since 2013 and will be my venture back to AMD thus the title.... so is the official color of AMD orange now (Ryzen color). Anyway, the new Ryzen platform has got me excited to get back into an AMD system. I currently only have my MSI GS63VR laptop as my main computer and would like a desktop to take some load off this laptop from running it's fans @ 100% at all times lol. The use for this will be mostly gaming (Destiny 2, Diablo 3, Titanfall 2, CS-GO), Adobe Premiere 4k video editing, and streaming 4k to my TV. I will be accumulating the parts over a month period to lighten the punch on my wallet. So far I just placed an order for a Ryzen 1700x and a Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K3 Motherboard. I'm still not sure what I will be doing with the rest of the parts so any recommendations are welcome especially memory. I'm having a hard time picking something that will be compatible. Gigabytes website only lists 5 that are tested compatible with this mobo. Typing in the P/N for these are only showing up with some insane priced 64gb - 128gb kits with 6 sticks of ram. (something is wrong there with gigabytes P/N's on their PDF). Anyway. I will post here as things arrive and start coming together. Rough idea of what is to come besides the CPU and Mobo: Samsung Evo 960 NVME M.2 500gb 850 watt Modular PSU of some sort Either a Nvidia 1070 or 1080... (not a TI) 16gb of DDR4 3200 EKWB basic water cooling kit? (not sure yet) RGB all things NZXT S340 or Corsair Carbide 400c case. Thank you!!
  7. Which is the best cooler master cooler for i5 8600k processor. I usually run at stock or light over clocking. Sometimes I might over clock at max. Which is better for my PC air cooler or liquid cooler. My budget is around 100-120$. Which cooler master air cooler or water cooler should I buy.
  8. Hi guys, I am looking for a waterblock for this card Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G . Does anybody have some experience with liquid cooling this card? Are there compatible blocks from reputable brands? Thank you very much for your replies! cheers, _PeterG_
  9. I just install my Corsair H115i on my i7-7700k cpu. When I start my PC it shows CPU fan error. About 40s after turning on the CPU temper reaches 100 degrees. And PC automatically shutdown. CPU: i7-700k CPU cooler: Corsair H115i GPU: msi gtx 1080 gaming x Motherboard: Asus Maximum hero IX PSU: EVGA 850 BQ+
  10. Is it normal for the fittings to turn indefinitely on watergate block of the fractal design Celsius s36? I thought I accidentally loosened one so I tried to tighten it and it doesn’t tighten. one of the hoses is a bit tight with the way I had to mount it too. am I okay here?
  11. Greetings. I'm currently browsing the market for some of the better cases compatible with liquid cooling. I'm currently using a Mastercase Pro 5 which, while usable, is a bit lacking. While searching, I figured I would ask this community what their thoughts are on the subject. My requirements: ~$100-250. Vertical GPU mount. Tempered glass side panel. Support for either a 120mm/240mm/360mm radiator setup OR a 120mm/240mm/240mm setup. Basement for the power supply or a power supply shroud. ATX Mid or Full tower. Able to hold two 2.5" drives and two 3.5" drives. *Optional: Comes in white. Any help finding something like this would be greatly appreciated.
  12. Hi guys, I´m from Cuba and wanna buy an Enermax LiqMax II for my i3 7100. OK, I know this cpu isn´t overclock ready, but here, in Cuba, the ambient temperature is above 30 degrees Celsius almost every in the m***f**** year. So, is buying this system a good idea???even when my bedroom´s temperature reaches 32-37 degrees Celsius??? thanks a lot, and excuse my poor english. P.S: I don´t have an AC system, i can´t afford it. I live literaterally in f***** hot hell
  13. Hey all, I've few questions regarding my new build. I'm not sure if this is the right forum as it's mostly about monitors and liquid cooling. I thought instead of posting on two different sub forums I'll just post it here. The PC would be used in the following order - Gaming -> CAD -> Video Rendering -> Movies/Internet etc. With that in mind here are my questions - Monitor - Would you recommend Triple Monitor setup (144Hz - 1080p) over single 4K? I play all sorts of games. Triple monitor should be good for productivity, immersion and racing sims I believe. Although I'm not sure if I can live with those bezels. As for 4k it's self-explanatory. Liquid Cooling - Do you think it's worth getting? I've never build a liquid cooled PC. This would be my first time. After seeing my mate's liquid cooled PC my interest has been reignited which is why I'm contemplating. The only problem I have is the maintenance and leakage. Draining and cleaning seems like a daunting task. Also I don't want to ruin my PC and the cost of paying someone to build is around $500. List of parts for reference - I believe it's a good build, but feel free to suggest a better alternative. Price in $AUD. Cheers.
  14. Where is the pump in the Fractal Design celcius s36? The CPU block or radiator. I'm almost certain it's in the block, but better not assume. I want to know for future expandablity. If it's in the block, then I can ditch that and just use the radiator later on in a custom water loop with a better pump. It's also important to know because this one has a copper plate on the block and an aluminum radiator so I wouldn't want to do a custom loop with it with it's original CPU block. If I ever do that, I'm going to use one of EK's aluminum kits combined with this radiator.
  15. I have an extra power supply and I'm going to leak test the AIO for 24 hours at least before installing it since I'm paranoid, but is it safe to plug into a molex to PWM fan cable instead of the mobo? It's a liquid cooling newb question, but it'll really help to know It's a fractal design celcius s36
  16. I have watched quite a few liquid cooled videos seen build after build when Linus and Co either stress out about or actually messes up and things leak. I was a utility contractor for years, and that is the experience that makes me wonder why you don't air presser test the cooling system before adding the liquid? Rig up a T fitting into the system you can use it as a fill hole attach to that a T fitting with a 0-5 psi pressure gauge off the side , connect the other end to a valve, and some kind of air fitting arrangement a Tractor Tire air Valve hose clamped into a piece of tubing works well and you can use either a bike pump or a compressor be sure to turn the pressure way down. or just buy one of these. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IPUCRXK/ref=asc_df_B00IPUCRXK5220065/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=394997&creativeASIN=B00IPUCRXK&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167123274900&hvpos=1o4&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8344412514103572579&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9026608&hvtargid=pla-272868395173 it is how they test gas/water /sewer plumbing lines put 3-4 psi on it go to lunch or better overnight and if it holds it will hold air it will hold liquid. way better than running hardware and having to clean up the mess.
  17. So I start with that right now I have thermaltakes ultamate water 360 AIO with 3 Noctua 120mm 3000PWM IPPC fans and it works good but I want to upgrade to a custom loop so I can get better temps and include my gpu to watercooling eventually. My case is an NZXT H630 and all the hard drive cages are out and the support bracket on the bottom out too. I can remove the 2 drive bays too and I probably will remove them. Right now I'm trying to find a triple 120mm rad for the front and it does not matter how thick it is but I want to get the most performance one but I can't figure it out. I've looked around and I have some ideas but I'm not really sure. But like I said before I only know a little but I want to get the best so I don't have to upgrade my cooling again. So if anybody can help that would be awesome. My specs Cpu: Core I7-5820k @ 4.7Ghz on all cores Motherboard: ASRock - Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7 Gpu: EVGA 1070 FTW Ram: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory Case: NZXT H630
  18. So what are people's thoughts on cooling, internal and external, which would people prefer and why ? would you rather have a external cooling ? if so do you, if not whats stopping you from an external cooling system ? just trying to work something out and see if people want external cooling and why there is a lack of it
  19. So i've been planning on upgrading to AM4 but i'm a bit short on cash so I wanted to go with the cheap Athlon chip and wanted to know how well the stock cooler fairs as I don't really have the money for an aftermarket CPU cooler and I wanted to know if it was something that could wait or if the stock cooler is pretty bad
  20. Hi guys.. I made a PC yesterday and i’m having a problem with cpu temps. pc spec: strix z270e motherboard intel i7-7700k gskill trident z rgb 2x8gb 3200mhz cl16 strix gtx 1060 6gb corsair h100i v2 cpu cooler When i first booted up the system i went directly to update the bios updates. After that inatalled windows 10 and all drivers for mb, gpu and cpu. The cpu had turbo boost activated and was running at 4.5ghz. I saw the idling temps of 36 celsius and i tought it was because of the turbo boost.. the problem was and still is that they are fluctuating a lot.. they jump from 36 to 44 , 54 also even if i only move the mouse.. after turning turbo boost off, I thought a this would settle, but no.. everything is the same. I reapplied thermal paste, assured everything was tight and still the same.. im thinking the motherboard sensor is broken.. i also tried running real bech stress test but it wouldn’t start because “error at gathering system information”. Note the water temp in the cooler tab . please help thank you!
  21. I currently have an 1800X OC'D to 4.0ghz @ 1.38V and 2 Asus Strix OC 1080 ti's both OC'D to 2075 Mhz, I'm using a Fractal Define C case and am wanting to water cool, what I know is if a 360mm rad and a 240mm rad be enough to properly cool this system? Haven't purchased parts yet, will this case have to rad capacity I need or do I need to get a bigger a case? Would greatly appreciate any input or advice on this and thanks in advance guys!
  22. We're doing a build right not and was wondering if you could do PETG and acrylic in the same loop? Thanks
  23. Hello, when I tried to start my computer today it stopped me at the American Megatrends site and I get past the Bios. I did some research and I got a clue but nothing really helped. In the Bios it says CPU FAN N/A and when I try to configure it (to full speed) it doesn't change. The Radiator Fans just go from normal to full speed (no matter the configuration) but the CPU heats up from 40 to over 70°C. It seems as if the pump gave up on life. The PC is brand new, I bought and built everything in August. Should I just send the water cooler back or is this just a easy fix error? I built it as said in the manual and yesterday everything worked fine. I also checked if everything is still plugged in properly and it was. Also as you can see in the attached pictures it registers my RAM as 2133MHz even though I installed 3000MHz modules. Just noticed it taking the pictures I've built lots of computers before, liquid and water cooled and never encountered this problem. Please help.
  24. Hi all, First time poster here, but long time computer enthusiast and reader of Linus Tech Tips, both on Youtube and these forums. I'm 28 but I built my first computer when I was 16. I've been out of the self-building phase for a while but I just built a brand new setup this past weekend and my specs are: ASUS CROSSHAIR VI HERO (WI-FI AC) AM4 AMD X370 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX AMD Motherboard Ryzen 7 1800X G.SKILL Flare X Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 RAM SAMSUNG 960 PRO M.2 512GB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V6P512BW CORSAIR RMi Series RM850i EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 HYBRID GAMING Graphics Card Thermaltake Water 3.0 280 Riing Red Edition PWM AIO Tt LCS Certified Liquid Cooling System CL-W138-PL14RE-A NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case Upon initial build and OS install, I noticed that my CPU temps were hovering around 60C. My BIOS was out of date (v.1201) so I updated using Asus' FlashBIOS utility and updated to the latest 1501 version. I re-checked my temperatures and the CPU went down a bit, but still hovers around 42C at idle. Is this normal for Ryzen 7? I know they potentially run a little hotter than other CPUs, but idling in the low-to-mid 40s doesn't seem to make much sense given the AIO liquid cooler (http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00003008). I've checked the fan connections on my motherboard and they are all seated correctly. I've attached an image of where I've placed the AIO (pump and fan) connections. I connected both 140mm fans on the cooler to the left two fan headers (CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT) and the pump to the AIO_Pump header on the right. Is this the correct configuration for my Thermaltake cooler? I would assume that, if my pump wasn't working correctly, that the CPU temps would be much higher than even 60C at idle. However, assuming that my pump is correctly working, I figured I would get idle temps hovering around the high 20s to low 30s. Am I correct in my thinking? Or is there something potentially off with my computer and I need to adjust fan and/or other settings? Also, as an FYI, my ambient temperature in Boston, MA is around 68F or 20C right now. Cheers (and thanks in advance for any help), James

Hey guys, I'm wondering where in Canada could i buy some G1/4 plug for my reservoir. i ordered a reservoir from aliexpress and they didn't includ any plug so that leaves me with the Inlet hole that i don't have anything to plug them with. looked online on nicx but price and shipping would be like $25 for the 2 plugs... crazy Thanks!
