Hey, First post on here. Just got in some used parts for a budget pc I wanted to build. specs: i5 9600k, msi gtx1070, 1tb m.2ssd (wd black), 550w psu, 16 gig G-skill, z390-H motherboard. All used parts, m.2 is new. After setting up the system I went to power it on and... no post. I have troubleshooted for some time now with no luck, and concluded that I needed a bios update. Asked the previous owner of the motherboard and he had used the same ram, and an i9 from the same gen. Would this mean that bios update would do nothing? VGA light comes on after a couple of minutes, so think there could be a GPU related problem instead? Attaching a photo of the CPU as its the only thing I feel looks off (middle top right). Have tried without gpu as well without any luck. Mono was shipped in normal bubble wrap and no anti static could this be an issue even if I get lights to everything? The screen also detects me plugging it in and out but no HDMI detected. have tried different screens and cables there swell. Anything helps, as I have built a fair few systems but never encountered a no boot sitch...

I was going on Ebay, searching motherboards that have "LGA1151" in the title, and surpsisingly not a single one passed the "pc parts compatibility website" check (I've tried multiple PC builder websites from Google) Here are the motherboards I'm considering buying, are any of these compatible with my CPU? - ASUS H170M-PLUS - GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2H - ASRock Q77M VPRO My RAM is DDR4MHz 2666 24GB for 2 slots. I just got a b365m motherboard, and some ripjaws 8x2 ddr4-3200 ram, and I want to get an Intel Pentium G4560, would that be compatible?

Hi, so I'm running a Corsair H100i RGB Platinum on an I7-7700 (in a Z270 mobo) right now and I just received my 12700K and the mobo. Now I know the key differences between the CPU's and the sockets are that the LGA1151 is 75mm x 75mm and LGA1700 is 78mm x 78mm and for the CPU's, the IHS is lower on the new 12700K. All that considered, the bracket behind the mobo that hold the cooler is at it's smallest configuration right now (at 75mm x 75mm), so I'm guessing that by putting it bigger it would fit LGA1700, so that's one thing clarified for now. The other thing is that I ordered the retrofit kit from Corsair and it's expected to ship in two weeks, so no way I'm waiting that long lmao. Other option would be to buy a new AIO but that's the last thing I wanna do. Is it possible to mount that AIO to my new LGA1700 mobo while making sure it's fine? Worse case scenario I can trim the standoffs or something. Thanks!

Im almoat ready to use my second build but this cooler i spent hours trying to attach. It has movable springloaded screws... which do not go in no matter what i do. Msi h360 board. How do i get this thing in? This mounting system is vary confusing.

So I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but my friend gave me their acer pre-built with a i5-9400h, socket FCBGA1440. I was wondering if that would be compatible with your typical LGA 1151 motherboard if someone wanted to upgrade the motherboard?

Symptoms: CPU led lights up The fans are spinning Motherboard powers on No image, no post code The processor heats up a bit for 2 seconds and then cools down Components: Asus Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon socket LGA1151 1x 8GB DDR4 No bent pins No connected peripherals, no HDD and no connected GPU x8 CPU power pin Intel i5 gen 6 What I've tried so far: I changed the processor with i5 generation 7 (both processors are tested and works just fine) I tried to start the board using only 4 power pins (on left and right side individual) Disconnecting CPU power while motherboard was still on (nothing happens) Resetting CMOS using reset pins while motherboard wasn't plugged in and then removed battery for 5 mins. Turning on the motherboard without RAM (same result) Turning on the motherboard without CPU (same result) I changed the PSU 3 times I tried to put pressure on the processor using my hand Motherboard worked just fine 2 days ago, then stopped working for no reason

Hi, I have an Asus Maximus Formula IX motherboard which says it says it supports 6th/7th gen CPUs. I heard there was a bios update for several Asus mobos, allowing them to support 9th gen CPUs. I have also read that in some cases you can you 7th gen CPUs with 6th gen mobos and maybe 8th gen at a push. So can I use anything other than a 6th/7th gen CPU with my mobo? Hey Guys, So I'm Pretty Savvy With PCs But Not Really In The TDP Aspect Of Processors. So My Question Is: I Have An All In One With A Desktop Grade i7-6700T. It Is Rated At 35 Watts. That Is There Compatibility With Something Like An i5-10400 Or i5-9400? They Are Supposedly 65 Watts Base TDP. The Power Supply On It Is Only A 180w Max But I'm Unsure Due To Different Websites Saying Different TDP. I Stick With Ark But Just Wanted A Second Opinion.

I am searching for a new motherboard atm. I was wondering what motherboard you guys would recommend since the motherboard market is kinda crowded and there are way too many features of which I don't know if I want them. The features I know I want are: Overclockability (so a z or x type chipset right?) and 6 3.5mm audioports on the back for 7.1 surround, a rgb header would be nice, but is not necessary. I have found some motherboards but I would love to see what you all will recommend. My maximum in price is about €150,- (about $160,-), tell me if there are no good motherboards in this pricerange, but I will find it hard to believe I think. ps. i had bought the corsair h100i v2 aio cooler last month for my kabylake build but last night after watching ryzen pricing i want to buy ryzen 7 1700 but then i noticed that i have just am3 and intel whatever it is brackets so my cooler would not fit ryzen is there some other way to use this aio cooler on ryzen plz help!!!!!!!!

TL;DR In my haste to get back up and running from a mysterious code that appears upon power on of a sandy bridge system; I ordered a Skylake component list; then to find out that the issue may not be that big [I need forum help on this part] Should I return the Skylake parts? Does this issue have some kind of stability implications? Lately my current system has been pretty unreliable and weird - i5-2500K on a MSI B75 P45 Corporate Stable Model Motherboard - Build date Sep 30 - 2013 A code 99 appears at the bottom right of the screen and lasts enough time for me to lose momentum on the work I do - I freelance - multiple browsers - million tabs open, skype, google docs, video, graphics, sound editing, database building etc - the machine is just an all round work horse. When the code first appeared, I couldn't find a direct answer to what exactly it meant - today I found a few posts on this forum dated 2015 that discussed the issue. Here and Here - this forum post contains a link to the MSI forum where it was indicated by a mod that 99 for MSI meant - "Super I/O initialization" and the forum post went on to add no more than "if its skipping them all quickly its fine!" Before I found this little bit of info, I had already put the system through a battery of troubleshooting tests - tested each stick of ram in each slot one at a time and tested states with and without GPU, SSD, USB, Front Panel etc. The tests revealed that the DIMM3 and DIMM4 slots when occupied, would not allow the PC to boot - this was unrelated to 99 however because....... The code still appears and persists for solid periods of time - therefore based on the MSI post "it is not fine" Amidst all this confusion - I placed an order on components for a replacement Skylake build [migration from Sandy Bridge] - but here I am making this post on the mysterious 9-code-spewing-system [it boots into windows...eventually] - what am I to do here - I'd be burning significant bank if I go ahead and keep the Skylake parts and start from scratch with a new set of unknown variables ----- or I can try to get to the bottom of shady 99 and understand if that's fixable OR I can just trash this system and fully migrate to Skylake on the hope that I will have a system that's going to last me 1000 years and enable me to earn a damn living. Here goes: Should I cancel that order ? - tell me why Can this issue be fixed? Should I put up with a stalled boot for 20 minutes each time I have to boot up again and chug along until a new build is ABSOLUTELY NEEDED?

I am planning to build a pc with a 7700k and 2 gtx 1070 but there is one problem that 7700k doesn't come with a stock heat sink and i can't find a stock heat sink for LGA1151 but I did found one stock cooler for LGA1155 on Amazon IN. What should I do, should I just use the liquid cooler or use the LGA1155 cooler for the test build

Hello everyone. I’m building a Mini-ITX computer and was wondering if anyone had experience with the Noctua NH-L9x65 CPU cooler and really small form factor builds. My motherboard is likely to be the Gigabyte GA-Z170N-Gaming 5 Mini ITX LGA1151. Also is the NH-L9x65, just a taller than the NH-L9i, or is it also thicker? Because I was originally going to go with the NH-L9i, but figured for an extra $10 I could get the NH-L9x65 and get some better cooling performance. Anyways, thank you to anyone who can offer me some advice.

Can anyone recommend a good lga1151 motherboard under £70. I don't care about IGPU outputs and a few USB 3.0 are OK, what I really want is support 4 DIMMs, decent audio (I'm not an audiophile but I don't want to have to buy a sound card so if it's terrible I'd avoid it ), and a decent amount of PCIE, as I'm hoping to possibly crossfire my 480 later, and have a wifi card. The more i/o the better, but all I really need is ethernet, a few usb 3.0 and 2.0, and audio, so I'd take worse I/o with better internals over better I/o unless that's a terrible idea.

So I wanted to do a build on and MSI Gaming ATX LGA1151 Mobo with a B150 chipset. I was leaning towards an intel i5-6500 CPU because I wanted a quad-core for more processing power for sandbox gaming. As I am sure most of you are aware, the i5-6500 does not have hyperthreading, but still boasts a decent 3.2GHZ core clock. As far as I know, the i5-6500 can be overclocked, but I keep reading that the B150 mobos cannot be overclocked by conventional means (or at all). Since this is my first build, I won't jump right into OCing, but I wanted to have the option to do so later on once I get a tad more experienced. I was wondering if this was an issue that can be fixed by an update to bios down the road, or if I should just invest in another mobo with a different chipset. I found some Z170s in the same price point. So any ideas? Should I invest in the Z170 and just get another processor that has hyperthreading? Or, should I just stick with more cores without hyperthreading, and just use the core clock on the b150?

He like this motherboard but we want to get the best we can max being 200 does anyone have anything that they have used thats good he plays all types of games from low intensive to battlefield one (has a gtx 1080) im saying this because he doesnt need all the little extras that companys put in there motherboard gaming is pretty much all he does.

Is LGA1151 gonna last longer? I mean, is there any upcoming "lake" for this socket?

Since there has been news coming out about the X299 platform, It got me thinking. What do you think Intel will release for the LGA1151 socket next? What are some realistic specs for a Kaby Lake upgrade? Will it still be stuck with 4 cores + 8 threads? Or will there be a 6 core + 12 thread like Kaby Lake X, only with lower PCIe lanes to support the B/Q/H/Z-series chipsets? Or, do you think Intel will leave the LGA1151 socket behind for something newer, to more easily compete with AMD + Ryzen? On a personal note, I would really like to upgrade from my i7 frying pan edition (i7-7700k) in the near future, without changing platforms to keep the cost of upgrading lower. Well, I'm making a new build and have some doubts about CPU cooling. My current build (the relevant parts, at least) consists of an Intel I7-3770K (LGA 1155), mounted on an ASUS P8H77-M Pro; I'm currently using an Akasa Venom Voodoo to cool the CPU. It's about 4 years old. I will upgrade to an I7-6700K (LGA 1151) mounted on an ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming. My doubt is if the Akasa Venom Voodoo would fit the new motherboard and cpu – since there's no description about LGA 1151 in the manufacturer's info (probably because there were no LGA1151 parts back then? idk) – or should I replace it with a Cooler Master Hyper 212X? I'm not interested in overclocking it or anything, I just would like to keep the Akasa Venom Voodoo because of its looks, as I find the Hyper 212X sort of unappealing. Tl;dr: 4-year old Akasa Venom Voodoo fits LGA1151? Is it worth to keep using a 4-year old CPU fan instead of a brand new Hyper 212X? Also, just ran a 10-min stress test on AIDA: CPU cores 1-4 temperatures averaged between 60-65º, CPU temperature at ~55º (Room temperature ~28º). Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi guys, I saw few intel stock coolers with white fan on top it is white or translucent (bad english). I wonder where can I find it because it is hard to find it even on google and can I put it on 1151 socket and i5 6500 to have good cooling it would be evene better if it beats stock cooler 1151. Hey guys (and girls and everything in between), I'm building a new rig, http://pcpartpicker.com/list/hv6YXH and I pretty much have my ducks in a row but I do have a question that doesn't really make sense to me. How is the situation on PCIe lanes? I know the cpu will deliver 16 to the GPU, cool but the z170 chipset delivers 20(?) more to the rest of the system. With a future m.2 card, perhaps a second 2.5" ssd and a wifi card, am I good on PCIe lanes? everything I have looked up hasn't really given me a clear-cut answer on this. Thanks for your help.

I need an ATX motherboard that supports an LGA1151 socket and has 10 SATA ports. It would be nice if it had on-board video since this machine will just be used for a home server. The storage that I will be connecting includes 8 WD RED 3TB drives, and a 512GB SSD. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!
