laptops Which laptop would you advise for gaming?
spidey20993 posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I have recently stumbled on some deals on HP's store and they are as follows (check images), I don't know if they're efficient for current and next gaming titles and also their durability(temperature and long term usage) but your advice will be very helpful, if there other laptops which can be within the range of price and performance I'm open to suggestions, thank you. Note: I would be gaming at mid/high settings either 1080 or 1440, whatever the device supports. -
I'm planning on changing the WiFi card on my Dell G3 3579 and need to know if the Intel AX210 card is compatible with my motherboard. And will it be a plug and play situation or will I have to install any further drivers. Please advice. I found this listing on AliExpress for the AX210 card, is a scam or the real deal? Additonally, are there cards from any other manufacturers that I can use instead, that are better than the Intel counterpart? I would also appreciate, I could be told what I need to look for to understand what crieteria needs to be satisfied for an M.2 WiFi card to be compatible with the motherboard. For context, the one reason I'm doing this, is because whenever I connect to any WiFi network it says "No internet access". I tried with a USB card and I was able to connect. Currently Bluetooth works fine. Is this issue related to the WiFi card or is it something else? Thank you everyone for your support!

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the ram on my Acer Nitro 5 laptop (model #: an515-57-919c. Series: an515-57). Specs CPU: i9-11900H GPU: RTX 3060 Storage: 512g SSD RAM: DDR4 16g 3200MHz I am planning to replace my old single ram stick of SK Hynix DDR4 16g 3200mhz with two 32g 3200MHz modules because I will be doing 3D modelling, using Photoshop etc for university and I will need more ram if i'm gonna be using such demanding software. I was hoping to get some ideas on what ram is compatible with my laptop and which brands of ram are worth choosing. Budget isn't an issue but obviously nothing overpriced, I don't want to be paying more for something that offers the same performance as something cheaper. I do live in Australia and want to get my ram from a local business so keep that in mind whern picking out ram. I'd prefer not to order from Amazon (just a personal preference of mine) but if the only compatible ram sticks are available there then I will make an exception. If I forgot to mention anything or if you need further information just let me know. Master Yoshi

This is an issue that I have had with my previous Laptop and am starting to have it again. 1 device was running windows 10 and this one is now running windows 11. On my windows 10 machine I used to use the hibernation feature and when I would leave it plugged in (connected to power) and charging it would randomly crash and I'd have to press the power button to turn it on and when I did, everything had to start up again like I had just turned it on after having been powered down. (Can see in the event log it crashes "Shut down unexpectedly") Now i am having that issue again on my new laptop running windows 11. I have no idea what is causing the issue. I have provided some text documents with event viewer logs that may be able to help someone figure out why this is happening. I'd like to note that this will happen whether I put the Laptop to sleep or use the hibernation feature. Sometimes I can place the computer to Sleep or Hibernate and if I reopen it shortly after it's fine. I even get this happening to me on the RARER occasion when I am simply watching YouTube. Sometimes when I open the lid, the computer is on but black screen and cannot do anything, I have to manually hold the power button down and shut it down and restart it in order for me to be able to see anything. Hi guys, I need help from you! So in some time I am gonna buy a new laptop and I only have two choices in my country, but I need someone to give me some advice on which one is better. Here are the laptops: 1. Asus ROG Strix G16 (G614JU-N3186) 2. Asus ROG Strix G16 (G614JV-N4072) The main difference between these laptops is the GPU and CPU. One has i5-13450HX and RTX 4060 8GB, while the other one has i7-13650HX and RTX 4050 6GB. I am quite knowledgeable about the difference in GPUs but I am not sure if there's a huge difference in CPU. I am a Graphics Designer and mainly I will use this laptop for work obviously, but I also play video games as well. I am working in Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and sometimes in Blender (but only modelling and NOT rendering), that's why I am more thinking about the Core i5 with 4060 in it, rather than i7 with 4050, but it will be great if you could give me a kind of review of how much difference is in the CPUs. The price difference is so low that both of the laptops are in my budget. Just remember that I only need a decision between these two laptops, don't list me other laptops that are "better" and cheaper, these are the only laptops that are available in my country (for my budget) and I am not considering buying the laptop online (for example Amazon or eBay). Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Yeah I know there are a lot of questions about this type of issue but I checked everywhere and nobody seems to have the same issue as me. So, I'm using DELL Inspirion 15 7559 from 2016 I believe. Today my screen got infested with thin, horizontal lines across whole screen, height and width wise. Those lines aren't any exact color - they seem like it's 50/50 darker and ligher lines... Or maybe half of them are darker and half of them is 'normal' brightness? I have no idea. They almost look like scan lines on CRT TV. No those arent black, green or whatever else. They seem to come up after few minutes of using the laptop - they arent there from the start. Those lines seem to get worse, dissapear by themselves and re-appear all by random chance. Also. Sometimes, but not always, I do see those lines appear when my screen goes black if i don't use the laptop for a while, then those lines kinda 'fizz out' as the black screen of screen saver dissapears and wallpapaer appear. It's first time using this forum for me, I will try attaching a photo/video of this. And no, they don't appear on screenshots. VID_20240311_195421 (1).mp4

I just wanted to know what's up with all these dell laptops having weird electric crackling noises? i thought dell was supposed to be excellent but i guess not. I own a 7000 series and just received it from Amazon yesterday, however when it is plugged in and especially when scrolling i here a crackling noise. When removing the charger the sound goes, so does stop scrolling using the trackpad. When i searched online, it seems a lot of other models have this same issue and dell has been ignoring posts on their own forums regarding this issue. Any fixes or updates i should know about? I have attached a video of the issue, if you turn your volume up you can hear it clearly. Thanks in advance. 1496194953_WhatsAppVideo2022-11-23at8_10_14PM.mp4

Hi. Wondering if updating to Windows 11 on my Windows 10 laptop would mess stuff up. Here's a few things I'm specifically concerned about: 1. Updating would remove personal files. I don't have evidence or really any grounds for this concern, but I just don't know enough about updating from Win. 10 to 11 to know any better. 2. Microsoft account and wifi. I know on a fresh install of Windows 11 on a desktop the whole wifi/Microsoft account sign-in section on initial book can be bypassed, but can it be skipped on a laptop if upgrading? I do NOT want to sign into a Microsoft account on my PC if I upgrade to Windows 11. 3. Desktop shortcuts. Really, not as important as the other ones but still a concern; would updating mess up my desktop shortcuts? I really don't know anything about updating a laptop specifically to Windows 11, hoping you guys can help, if someone can give me a rundown that would be awesome. Thank you! Specs are below if you're curious. Lenovo Legion 5 15ARH05 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4500H GPU: Nvidia GTX 1650 Ti RAM: 32 GB Crucial 3200 MHz DDR4 Storage: 1x 250 GB Samsung SSD (C:); 1x 1 TB WD HDD

Hey guys, I have a fairly odd problem: When I boot up my laptop, it does not take input from the keyboard. I need to disconnect the keyboard's wire and reconnect it to have my laptop finally receive input from the keyboard. This did not happen with my other keyboard which I only just replaced 2 days ago. The keyboard is receiving power during this. I know this because the keyboard does have wireless capability. When I have the batteries turned off with a switch, with the keyboard plugged in to the laptop, the laptop receives input when the keyboard is in wireless mode. This also does not happen with a different laptop. So it's an issue specific to just this keyboard when used with the specific laptop. TLDR: Laptop doesn't take input from wired keyboard upon boot. Keyboard is receiving power. Laptop does receive input from the same keyboard if the keyboard is operating in wireless. Laptop does receive input after disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard. Issue cannot be replicated with a different keyboard or laptop. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

BIOS version 317 Windows 11 version 23H2 Problem: Under normal usage, the laptop will perform fine for a short period, then have a line across it become completely dead to all touch or pen input just above the primary thunderbolt port (as in the image attached). There seems to be some correlation between plugging the computer in to charge and the problem beginning, as it normally can be avoided after being turned off for multiple hours, then turning it on and using it on battery life. That trend holds for the most part aside from some outlier cases where the issue will begin outside of charging the device. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary when monitoring system usage and power draw while the problem developed. The problem occurs across all application, the desktop, and while in BIOS. Attempted solutions: I've tried looking for updates to the touch and pen display drivers, but couldn't find any through windows auto-update. I've also tried uninstalling them then letting the system reinstall them. Updating windows had no effect. Question: I mainly just want to know if anyone has had this issue before on a similar device and what the issue can be a sign of, as well as how to go about fixing it. I have a hunch that either the digitizer is starting to go, it may have a bad/loose cable connection, or that there is a short somewhere. I just don't want to open up the device without a clear idea of what I should be looking for, and I don't want to have ASUS ship me a screen replacement if the problem lies elsewhere. Thank you to anyone for your help, it is much appreciated.

I just want to ask if Acer Nitro 5 AN515-46-R8H3 with Ryzen 6800H and RTX 3070 has a MUX switch? It is currently on sale at my local store for around 902 USD. Is it worth buying?

Hey everyone. My laptop just broke down, for what seems it's final time, and I'm quite devastated, and don't know what to do. I'm currently in the market for a reasonable budget laptop (I do a bit of photo editing, playing 6-13 year old games, and writing.) These were the specs of the previous laptop I had: Core i3 8150U.(2 cores.) 8gb Ram, 3200mhz 1tb HDD. IPS LCD, 1300 * 720, or so... I'll need something with at the very least, a sizeable number or ports, and please, one USB type C with PD. Any recommendations are welcome. Thank you.

Hi, I'm currently speccing out a budget laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 3) on top of my desktop for some studies abroad, I'll be doing some web browsing, video playback, word-editing & Excel, and some relatively light database management (Access) and QGIS/ ArcGIS workloads. I'm torn between the i5-12450H and the i3-1215U. Both would come with 16GB of RAM (5800 Mhz DDR5 for the first, and 3200Mhz DDR4 for the latter). I haven't found many reliable performance comparatives online. The i3 system is 70 bucks cheaper and comes with a better battery. Is the i3 a good choice? Or will I notice enough of a performance difference to justify shelling out for the i5 instead? Thanks

I am thinking of buying the acer nitro v 15(i5 13450h and rtx 4050 ). But one thing that i am concerned about is the outflow vent being directed towards the display. Does it affect the display? I want to play some fps games and use it for my college. Will the hot air be bad for the display?

I want to upgrade my Cpu in my laptop and i was wondering if the i7-4910MQ is possible to install into the laptop. many sites have said no and yes so, I am confused on whether or not it would work before I buy one. my second option is the i7-4712MQ if it would work also. i currently have a i5-4310M Cpu and my bios is A24. my ac adapter is 65 watts, and my ram is 16Gb DDR3 1600Mhz. i am mostly wondering what the best Cpu i could install in my laptop. it also runs windows 10 pro if that matters.

Hello everyone, I own an Asus M509DA laptop with 12GB of RAM (4GB soldered onboard + 8GB in another slot). Lately, I've been facing RAM shortages while working with large Excel files. I'm considering upgrading the additional slot to a 16GB 2400MHz RAM. Before making the purchase (which is non-returnable), I'd like to know if my laptop supports this upgrade. I'm uncertain about the maximum RAM capacity my laptop can handle. Can anyone provide guidance on whether this upgrade is compatible with my Asus M509DA laptop?

I was looking at the two laptops below https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/laptops/intel/spd/g-series-15-5530-laptop/caeghbts5530ggjn#tech-specs-anchor or https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/laptops/intel/spd/g-series-15-5530-laptop/caeghbto5530glmd#tech-specs-anchor The major difference between them is the GPU, Display and Price. I am so confused about what to go for here. I wanted a new laptop on which I would be running VMs, Multiple Google Tabs and Applications, and maybe playing the casual game. 1. I was wondering what would be better for my use case a 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 display 2. Would 250nits vs 400 make a difference 3. Do you know if this is anti-glare or matt screen
