I have an old Hp Elitebook 840 G5, it has a Thunderbolt port and a docking port. My desktop/gaming pc has a thunderbolt (and output hdmi port) Can I somehow connect my desktop to my laptop and use the laptop as a display? (I know the laptop hdmi port is an Output port only, but what about the thunderbolt port?) Also would it be possible to do the same except using the laptop as a display for my Xbox Series S

I found an Aliexpress link for a 13.3 inch 4:3 OLED screen costing $1,200 and that is evidence of since a lot of new laptops are moving to 16:10 or 3:2, that they are planning or have previously planned a new 4:3 laptop, they wouldn't be on Aliexpress if that wasn't on some internal roadmap and they have some surplus.

Hi. If you can't already see, i once started up my laptop and these weird lines started appearing which at first wasn't as bad but overtime gets worse for some reason. I tried fixing it by changing the refresh rate to 144hz to 60hz, and it worked, but when i change the refresh rate back up to 144hz, lines start appearing and my screen sometimes totally freezes to the point where i have to hard shut down my laptop. This is happening for over 3 weeks and the only way i can fix it is to give up 144hz refresh rate, but is there a way to fix these lines appearing and freezing my screen without giving up my high refresh rate for gaming? Pls reply if you have a solution. Changing display settings in NVIDIA Control Panel, AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 and the windows display settings does nothing. Sorry for the poor video quality. laptop problem.mp4

Will a low pixel response time (1-8ms) high frequency (120-144Hz) IPS laptop screen have the same low pixel response time run at 60Hz as well? I want to replace my slow very high pixel response time IPS laptop screen because motion blur is unbearable. I am not sure my GPUs support the high frequencies (120-144Hz), so I may need to run it at 60Hz. I want to make sure the low pixel response time is also present at 60Hz. Thank you for responses in advance! Randal

Dear everyone, Do you have a laptop with low pixel response time (1-8ms) high frequency (120-144Hz) IPS screen? I need your help to test its performance at 60Hz. (Because many apps only work well at 60Hz.) These screens should give you little to no motion blur. I would like to know whether the low pixel response time (= little to no motion blur) is also present when you run it downclocked at 60Hz. Could you test it for me? What I need from you: - your subjective opinion: motion blur compared at 144/120Hz vs. 60Hz - could you post photos made with the same camera at each setting using the first 5 seconds of this video: - could you tell me the exact name/type/part number of your screen? You can get it using the HWiNFO program (if you haven't already disassembled your laptop before and took no photos of the screen itself). (So if it performs well, then I may want to buy it to upgrade my laptop screen.) - could you tell me your laptop type or which integrated and dedicated video cards it has? I believe the information you will be sharing here will be very useful for many. Thank you for your kind help in advance! Randal

The computer is an Asus f556u and all works perfectly but for the screen, that turns really really dimm (but still on and white/bright windows are still distinguishable) whenever the laptop is unplugged from the charger. I tried setting all energy efficiency and screen brightness to max, I tried updating drivers, i tried only running it with the dedicated gpu, then eith ilonly the integrated one. I also tried changing the battery with a new one. After all this, the problem persists with still no different outcome... And yes, when the screen is dimm, the brightness is set to max in theory. Should I assume it's the mobo that has an issue and give up or is there something else I can try? Thanks l you in advance

Hi everyone, I had to change my old LCD display inbuilt into my laptop (Lenovo ideapad 310 15ISK) as it got cracked. When I booted the system back up, only my secondary monitor would work and the new inbuilt display would not detect. I can not figure out why. The new screen is slightly different but should be compatible. I've noticed that the display driver for my new laptop screen is not present in the device manager. I have done the obvious things like restart my system, (tried) to install the latest drivers for my intel graphics and tried to detect the device in settings. Any ideas on how to proceed from here? I can provide extra information if that is helpful

Hi there, I hope you're all well. I'm trying to replace my laptop's broken screen. I bought this screen NV156FHM-N4K - I then noticed that screen interface Brand I-PEX (please see the attached) is different from my old screen NV156FHM-N4G which has an STM brand interface. Could there be issues when I install the new screen? I was wondering if anyone has idea Thanks so much I love your videos by the way.

I haven't used my old sony vaio laptop for about 6 months, and today when I turned it on the screen blinks black each second, and it isn't windows/drivers related because it does that immediately when I start it. the laptop has an i7-2670qm and gtx-450m I changed the thermal paste for the cpu and gpu 2 times in the past for this laptop.

I'm on the brink of buying a new laptop but I can't decide on what configuration I should get. 1) GTX 1070 with a 4K 60fps ips panel 2) GTX 1070 with a 1080p 60fps ips panel or 3) GTX 1060 with a 1080p 60fps ips panel I don't want to get a 120hz panel even if it comes with g-sync because it is a TN panel and I'm planning to start dabbling in digital art, so colour accuracy is important to me. (but not to the point of needing 100% aRGB at this moment) Each config comes with it's own set of problems: The first option doesn't allow for games to be played at Max setting at the full 60fps at 4K and I hear playing games outside of the native resolution will cause the images to lose it's quality. The second option (since it doesn't have g-sync) would introduce tearing with v-sync off because of high frame rates. I have read that Adaptive V-sync, or V-sync with with Triple Buffering might help but will still introduce input lag. (Also, is Adaptive V-sync the best solution to tearing outside of G-sync?) The third option has the best GPU for the screen, but it won't be able to hold out as long as a GTX1070 at Max settings with newer and more demanding games come out. Because I haven't yet bought the laptop, I feel that I ought to be a bit picky about it so I can make the choice that would give me the best experience as I will be using the laptop for the foreseeable future. (up to the next 5 years) The laptops I'm currently considering are the Alienware 15 R3 and the newest Razer Blade (Which has a GTX1060 and 4k touchscreen option, but that would have the same problems as option 1 and will be more prominent.) Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Okay, so I have 2 questions. First one is I have an old gaming laptop that’s giving me a hard time. It’s an Clevo 7200. It powers on but I’m not getting any signal on the screen, I connect the laptop to a monitor and I still don’t get a signal BUT when I start the laptop and go to the bios the screen magically works on the monitor but still nothing on the laptop screen. I’m so confused and can use some help!! Also so my pc has an i9 what’s a recommended cooler I should use for it, currently has a Corsair h60.

I have an Acer Aspire E 15 E5-574G-52QU which features a full hd TN panel. I was wondering that if it's possible to replace my laptop screen with an IPS panel. I found this website http://www.panelook.com/ which offers a plethora of options for screens. Can somebody tell me if its possible at all, replacing a TN with an IPS panel? Also if possible, please tell me that for an IPS display is there any kind of trade off between features... for eg, screen brightness having a trade off with color accuracy (I don't know, just saying)

Hello, I've noticed several spots on my laptop's screen for the last couple of weeks. I'll do my best explaining it, but basically I'm trying to figure out what it is. It's only visible while it's turned on so I ruled out dirt. It sounds a little silly, but I've also tried to monitor capture/screenshot and it wasn't showing up. It's practically invisible until I start using applications with white backgrounds and while it was fine at first it's starting to get quite bothersome. I'll try attaching a picture showing it, but I apologize in advance due to its poor quality. (Try looking the picture from different angles if you can't see the circled spots, also there are others around it) I'm using a "RAZER BLADE 14” (2017) - INTEL 7700HQ - GTX1060" Does anyone have ideas what could it be and is there a fix for the problem? Hey all, I have an edp to HDMI controller board and have followed all the instructions to no avail. I have used a 12v 3A power adapter and plugged in a display listed as compatible on the Amazon listing. I press the power button and nothing happens, I also tried with an hdmi input from my computer, nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an inspiron 15 7577 laptop with a 4k screen. The laptop has a small battery and drains really fast on a 4k screen. I was wondering if its possible to replace it with a full HD screen with higher refresh rate. I know the 4k version uses a 40 pin connector instead of a 30 pin. Can I replace the cable with a 30 pin connector and put a 1080p screen on? (I assume the motherboard port for the cable is the same for both the full HD and 4k versions??)

Hello all! This is my first time posting on the Mod page of the forum, so go easy on me Basically did the same mod they posted a few days ago on the channel. Alex casually mentions that the mod should also work on a G3 which luckily uses the same body as the G5, G7 and the Inspiron 15 7577 Gaming. One of the main complaints by most people for the 7577 is that the display is terrible. It's a budget gaming laptop, you can probably grab an i5/GTX 1050ti variant for $600 on sale, but they really skimped out on the screen here. Popping the lid open was a breeze, does take a little bit of patience. I had an iFixIt spudger that really helped out a lot on the process. Just put them in between the display and bezel, I suggest starting at the bottom by the Dell logo because there aren't any clips immediately there so it's easy to get in between the display and bezel and then just move your way around the sides until you have the bezel off. After removing the bezel, you need to remove 4 screws that hold the display to the body. Removing the ribbon cable also requires patience. They used really strong tape to hold the cable intact, so take your time removing that and make sure you don't rip the ribbon cable. Once you've removed the tape, don't remove the cable yet because it's also being held by a retention clip, just slowly wiggle the retention clips off with a skinny screw driver and after that you are now able to remove the ribbon cable. Once you have the old panel off, just repeat the steps you just did in reverse. So attach the new panel to the ribbon cable, put back the retention clip and make sure to secure it with the tape. Put the display back on the body, align the holes on the display to the body, screw them back in and attach the bezel back to the laptop. If you don't mess up, it should take you about 10-15 minutes for the whole thing. Honestly one of the best and easiest mods out there. Hopefully this helps out a few 7577 users that aren't too content with their stock display while gaming Shoutout to @AlexTheGreatish for this sick ass mod! Cheers!

I'm looking to upgrade the display in my MSI GS63 Stealth-010 from 60Hz to 144Hz. All the other forum posts I've found talking about this specific laptop only upgrade to a nicer 60Hz display but I'd like to have 144 for playing games. Here's the best buy product page. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Guyz Sorry for my bad english. i am trying to connect my laptop display with my pc because luckily my laptop display is overclocked to 100 hz and it the display speaks for it self.. it is an oled panel with reasonable response time.. i wanna switch from my desktop 60 hz monitor to laptop 100hz monitor.. i found some solutions online but all of them was a screen mirroring softwares which does not utilize my laptop 100hz because they stream at 1080p 60hz.. and also they have unreasonable amount of input lag.. my laptop is very old.. and no one uses it anymore.. i also tried windows 10 wireless display thing.. but my desktop does not support miracast and without that it is not possible.. so if there is any kind of solution out there which can solve my problem and with that solution i can use my laptop display as a secondary display that would be great and also if it does not have unreasonable amount of latency that will also be apreciated.. just leave your ideas.. i am here to try them.. Thanks

Good night everyone, I'll be replacing my Samsung RF511-SD4 screen with a IPS new screen, it has a TN panel, and the screen has a black mark right in the middle of the screen (the previous owner dopper it). The screen Model number is LTN156AT01 and it's a 30-pin connector, with a CCFL backlight connector. I will be purchasing a similar screen, and found this guide on replacing a TN panel with an IPS panel, and I've seen it done myself before (a Dell screen in that case). Basically I need to know a screen that can be put in this computer, it's a 15,6" screen, with 1366x768 resolution. Here's a picture of the screen 30-pin position, sorry it's in portuguese, found this image online already. Anyone can help me with this?
