so i have this phone htc 820G+ and i this phone does not get system updates. i looked up in the internet and other users are also complaining about it as HTC is not sending any. the OS im currently having is kitkat and i want to upgrade it to lollipop or marshmallow but i havent found any sources for that as well. however i have seen people installing CyanogenMod 13, but there is some risk too as some people have got various features in their device not working and there are successful people too.i just want to know if its worth taking the risk to put CyanogenMod 13.is it just some software that makes your phone look like it has marshmallow or does it actually have atleast some of its features?

Can someone help me get rid of this notification? I don't want to upgrade my Note 4 (Verizon) to Lollipop. I did it once and downgraded back to KitKat because Lollipop destroyed my battery life. Now this is nagging me every time I go back to my home screen. Does anyone know how to get rid of it or to get it to stop asking? Thank you in advance for your help.

I have an Alcatel OneTouch Evolve 2 on T-Mobile. I rooted the phone using KingRoot as suggested by this video. After rooting I removed some T-mobile Bloatware and all of the google play apps except for "services" and "store". After doing this I began to repeatedly recieve an error reading "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped." after hitting "okay" the message reappears in about 5 seconds. I have tried resetting to factory default, unrooting, removing the sim card, clearing the cache and data for SIM toolkit and phone apps. After a hard reset the problem goes away until I turn on WIFI... Any suggestions?

So a while ago (and I mean a while ago) I had to get my oneplus one RMAed by Oneplus. this was easily the worst experience of my life. Now I have a new phone, but I've noticed something odd. On my last phone, I was able to upgrade to Cyanogen Mod 12. I don't know if it was an official update, or if something happened and I managed to accidentally install a rom, but I was running CM12 and I really liked the layout of everything. Now I'm running kitkat (4.4.4) on my replacement device, and I can't seem to update to lollipop again. and I swear, I was on lollipop. I could tap on the android version a bunch and it would let me play flappy bird with lollipops and the cyanogen mod mascot. When I click on "search for update" it says that my device is up to date. I was wondering if any Oneplus One users out there could give me a hand, as everyone on the Oneplus forums simply says "use the search" instead of actually offering any damn help. Thank you in advance for the replies.

I recently got myself a Lenovo Yoga 2 8 tablet. And fyi I'm totally new to android and this is my first tablet ever so I'm still learning how to navigate/use android ui. I noticed that with the YT app, I can only watch 720p videos, even when the videos are 1080p or higher. Is there any way to fix this without rooting etc?

I've recently decided that I need a new phone, due the Lumia 520 being absolutely terrible - and I've come to two possible next phones; 2015 Moto E or 2014 Moto G. The Moto E is newer, and is around £30/$45 cheaper than the Moto G, as well as it being pre-loaded with Lollipop, however; the Moto G is quite a lot faster, has LED Flash, has a better screen and I think looks better aesthetically. The new great thing about the Moto E is that it has LTE, but the carrier that I'm on doesn't support LTE, so I don't need that. So which one should I choose to buy, keep in mind that I'm a bit of a power user, so I'll use my phone for IT diagnostics, and just general work, and since Linus stated in his recent video that the Moto E is quite slow, I think that in my opinion the Moto G might be better, despite it's greater price. Anyway, tell me what you think - Thanks.

I own a Nexus 7 Gen 1 since it's launch and recently I've bought an Android One device from Micromax Earlier when I used to connect my Nexus 7 to my PC as a mass storage device (MTP) or even as a Camera Device (PTP), it used to connect flawlessly and I was able to transfer all my music and videos to and fro from my computer and android device. Well, but now, I guess ever since the new Kit Kat update, that is not the case any more! Every time I connect the Tablet or the Phone (Which even has a Kit Kat Android on it) I am not able to connect to device to my PC and transfer data. The connected device does show up in the device manager but there is no icon for the mass storage device in 'My Computer'. I tried troubleshooting the problem and it said that some USB 3.0 issue might be causing the problem, so I connected to a USB 2.0 port on the back of my computer but the problem was still there. Still I couldn't find no icon for mass storage in My Computer. Need Help! Thank You!

Hi, I have been running Cyanogenmod 11(CM11) 4.4.2 on my Find 5 a few months ago, but after a while, I went back to the stock ColorOS ROM because reasons. Now, everytime I try to install any 4.4 Kitkat based custom ROM using TWRP, the installation fails.I have tried installing a new Kernel for 4.4(which I have never used before for installing Kitkat and the installation went perfectly fine) and that still doesn't work for me.Also in some apps that require root access I am told that my device is not rooted, when in fact I have rooted my phone... Any help would be greatly appreciated Also I would be glad if someone could link a tutorial on how to root the device because the method I found doesn't seem to be working, and a stable 4.4Kitkat ROM.Thank you!

Hello, My Phone: LG Optimus G (LTE)(Korean version unlocked) F-180K or e975 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Ever since my phone updated to kitkat, it will sometimes lag when I unlock it. SO I press the lock button, then 2 seconds later the screen lights up on the lock screen. There's just this long delay for it to respond to me pressing the lock button. Often, I press the button again and the screen comes on and then goes off instantly which is so annoying. Sometimes I end up pressing the lock button 5 times to just show the lock screen for me to unlock it. It can take like 10 seconds to unlock my phone. Why does it lag? Anything I can do? Thanks

Source: http://jalopnik.com/honda-will-be-the-first-real-automaker-to-use-real-and-1639179295 Interesting, Honda plan on releasing cars with an Android device in the dash. Not Android Auto either, full fat Android. It is only 4.0.4, far behind what the current version is (4.4.4) but it is definitely a good start. And it's powered by NVIDIA as well, likely Tegra K1. \ What do you guys think of this? Do you think it will become a distraction from driving, or will it be a nice addition?

We have heard a lot about 64-bit chips on Android recently, but not much from the software side. PocketNow reported, Intel has made a build of Android 4.4 kitKat, which included a 64-bit kernel, optimized for its Atom chips. http://www.pocketnow.com/2014/04/03/64-bit-android

With the new update to Android (4.4.2), apps no longer have permission to write to the SD card like they did in the past. In the past, apps could access and write to any place on the SD card, even the system folder, Google see's this as a security flaw and has fixed the issue by not allowing apps to write to the SD card. Instead, when apps are installed they are given a folder on the SD card that they are allowed to use, so apps can only access their own files. This might not seem like a very big problem but because of this restriction apps like File Managers and File Downloads (On SD card) are now completely useless, they no longer have permission to edit, move or delete files. One way around this is, when using a file manager, use the file manager to create folders, folders created by an app is owned by that app and is allowed to edit/move files within that folder. In my opinion denying write permissions to apps is a good idea, just give the user the option to allow certain\ apps full control. You can also root your device to gain access that way if you wish. So I have a Nexus 4 phone running up to date Android 4.4 Kitkat. Now, when I go to some websites to watch videos it says that I don't have Adobe Flash installed on my device. The OS officially dropped support for it. I found a guide on how to install a hacked version of Adobe Flash compatible within the Dolphin web browser. I followed all the steps and I successfully installed it and can play flash videos. How safe was doing this? There's no way in hell this can be updated and I don't understand how a flash player could be a security risk in the first place. Is it only a risk while I'm running Dolphin with the flash player running on site or is there a constant risk while having Download KitKat.Adobe.Flash.Player.11.1.apk installed? I must admit, I want to use flash to watch movies on a black market video streaming site called Viooz, a site I wouldn't trust going too without Adblock, WOT and an online shield scanning my activity. I can go there on my PC and watch embedded movies from there that aren't streamable through Netflix or Amazon under their subscriptions. Be assured, Viooz is a shady site in which you don't want to click on anything that will lead you away from the site. Was this guide that I followed legitimate or stupid to follow through with? Did I screw myself? How To Install Flash Player On Any Android Kitkat Device! --------------------------------------- I similarly installed Adblock plus from this download a while ago. Adblock Plus For Android Before you download Adblock Plus to your Android device, make sure app installation from unknown sources is allowed by Android: Open Settings and go to Unknown sources option (under Applications or Security depending on your device) Tap the checkbox and confirm the upcoming message with OK Does this ever update or is it just a one time thing? After I install this, if I check back to unallow installation from unknown sources, does it disable Adblock? I still get ads on youtube, but maybe less? ----------------------------------------------------------- Thanks tech community for reading my post. I curious how adblock has been banned from the Google Play and flash isn't support on Kitkat, yet for Chrome web browser on Chrome OS and Windows they work just fine as extensions.

I didn't think this was news section-worthy so I posted it here. Apparently Nokia is feeliong really confident after Microsoft's acquisition earlier this week so they took to twitter to issue a KitKat themed "death threat" (as a reference to Android 4.4) involving the image of a Galaxy SIII broken in half. This is not the first time Nokia has threatened or made fun of Samsung, they definitely don't mind going head to head with Samsung even though they're not even close to being able to keep up where it matters. Just a few days ago Nokia UK parked a truck nearby a Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom billboard to hijack the marketing with a Lumia 1020 ad. TBH I find these kinda funny even if a bit childish, but I doubt they're making a real difference in the sales of Nokia handsets, they still sold only about 1/10 of what Samsung sold in the last quarter. source: http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/4/4695282/nokia-kitkat-samsung-tweet-threat

Samsung recently announced which of its smartphones and tablet in the US were slated to get updated to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat release. And now, an official list has arrived in Poland as well. While most of the devices that were launched in the past couple of years are in line for the upgrade, the highly popular 2012 flagship, the Galaxy S3, is nowhere to be seen. The entire roster was made available by Polish blogger Robert Nawrowski who also received confirmation from Samsung that the international Galaxy S3 will not get updated to Android 4.4 KitKat. The reason given for this was that the smartphone only has 1GB of RAM, while the US model which is scheduled to get the latest firmware has 2GB. When Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat, it emphasized on the platform’s capability of running on devices even with 512MB of RAM.Samsung claimed they won't be releasing the update for the international version because TouchWiz is memory-hungry. I can't stop hating Samsung...the exact same thing happened with my last smartphone,an S Plus.It only had half a GB of RAM,and Samsung refused to roll the ICS(4.0) update for it,due to the same thing : TouchWiz.However, there were lots of custom ROMs which worked just fine on it. Now,the international S3(which I own) won't recieve a 4.4 update anymore, but the US version(more RAM,worse CPU) will?Come on Samsung...it was a flagship phone. You're telling me entry-level phones can run KitKat but one which once was a flagship can't?Really? I've only had 1 update in the year I've had my phone...a single update(the 4.3 update which I got on 1st of Jan 2014)!And now you're telling me that's all? And yes,I know I can install custom ROMs,but I WON'T.I hard-bricked 3 phones trying to install a different ROM(don't know what the hell happened),and I sure as hell don't want to break my S3 because I don't poop money. Nevertheless, this is just a marketing scheme from Samsung. They obviously want S3 owners to buy their upcoming flagship.Well,I sure as hell won't.

The Nexus 5 is the second device LG has manufactured in Google's phone line-up, it follows on where the Nexus 4 left off with a device with many of the features of a top end device with one or two drawbacks to save on cost. The Nexus 5 comes with the increasingly popular Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, clocked at a massive 2.3Ghz Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. This makes the phone a truly high performance device and the benchmarks and synthetic tests show this. Pair this with the latest Android OS and there aren't many phones available that feel faster or more fluid. The screen has increased in size from the Nexus 4 to match the Galaxy S4 at 5 inches. It also bumps the resolution to full HD (445ppi) but the LCD colours can still look a bit washed out next to an AMOLED device like a Samsung or Motorola. In my first few days of use I can say it is one of the best mobile device screens I have ever used. The front is covered in Gorilla Glass 3 which Corning say is three times more damage resistant than the previous version. The Nexus 5 is based on the LG G2 but it's unique back buttons have been replaced with the normal power switch on the right and volume rocker on the left. The buttons are made of ceramic this time rather than plastic, which will hopefully make them last longer under wear. On the top there is a 3.5mm audio jack and microphone, on the bottom there is the micro-usb port with what looks like a speaker grill on either side but one of these is only a microphone. This means it is possible to cover the speaker port whilst holding the phone in landscape. One of the features it does share with the G2 is the optical image stabilised camera, although it is an 8mp sensor here instead of 13 (There are some test shots atmy username dot com). Many people think the camera is one of the places LG/Google has saved money, but it is better than the Nexus 4 and is good enough for me to not carry around a dedicated point and shoot. The back of the phone looses the glass back of the Nexus 4 which is a big relief as this was prone to cracking and scratching as it was not Gorilla Glass. The logo on the rear has been carried over from the 2013 Nexus 7 along with the soft-touch back. It comes with a 2300mAh battery which is smaller than other similar phones, but I have yet to put it through any heavy use or battery tests so can't comment on the battery life yet. There is a long list wireless features like NFC, b/g/n/ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, Qi wireless charging and the long awaited 4G. Living in the UK, 4G is just starting to become more popular in the main cities and I will be moving to a compatible sim/plan in the future, but as it stands, the Nexus 5 has some of the fastest HSDPA speeds I have seen with downloads exceeding 20Mbps. Anyone who is trying to decide what colour device to choose, the white model comes with a white top speaker and glossy sides, whereas the black has the same matte/soft-touch as the back. It is just down to individual preference on which is better. One of the main features of any Nexus device is the latest Android OS and in this case Google has teamed up with Nestle to name this sweet new version 4.4 KitKat. It has some fairly large new features like the transparent menu buttons and notification bar which really show off the full screen instead of masking the top and bottom. Google Now is just a swipe to the left of the main home screen and can be also accessed by saying 'OK Google'. This is a feature brought in from the Moto X, but does not include the 'always listening' mode so cannot be used when the screen is off. Optimisations have been made so that 4.4 can run on devices with as little as 512mb of RAM, this is not a problem for the Nexus 5, but it would have been nice for them to update and bring some life back into the older Nexus devices, which they have not chosen to do. Lots of the Holo blue colouring has gone, to create a flatter, cleaner look (moving in a similar direction to iOS7?) but the settings app remains unchanged mysteriously. Overall my first impressions are good, much like they were when I first got my Nexus 4, I'm sure there are things I have missed out and I will be writing a '6/12 months later' review when I feel the time is right. If anyone has any questions I will happily answer!

Hello, I got a Kitkat update for my nexus 7 2013 a couple of days ago, I tried to install it but it failed. When i ran the update it restarted the tablet then the instalation started, about on 1/4 there was a android guy with a red triangle on the screen and Error was written below him. Then after a minute the tablet restarted and was working normally with jelly bean 4.3.. What can I do to get kitkat without losing my games an programs? I also have it rooted. Thank you.
