Hello peeps So I bought this pre-built model 400G4PDM/I77700/500HQ/4C/8f , A mouse and a keyboard included from HP this system has: - Intel® Core™ i7-7700 Processor - A western digital 500GB hard-disk - A 180 watt 80+bronze powersupply - 1x 8GB DDR4 2133 Mhz RAM - Intel® HD Graphics 630 that's for the that's for the options part, as for expansion: Ports Front: Universal audio jack with CTIA headset support 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 1 SD 3 card reader (optional) Back: 1 audio out connector 1 DisplayPort™ 1 VGA 4 USB 2.0 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 1 audio in connector 1 RJ-45 1 power connector Expansion slots Turbo Drive (M.2 PCIe) 1 M.2 2230 for wireless NIC PCI Express x16 (v3.0)(wired as a x4) 4.2", full height 6.6" length, 35 W max power PCI Express x16 (v3.0) 4.2" full height, 6.6" length, 75 W max power Upgrades: 1-SSD:(done) For this upgrade I went with the SAMSUNG 960 EVO M.2 250GB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0 x4 plugged it in the previously mentioned PCIE x16 that is (wired as a x4) through an Asus Hyper M.2 PCI-Express x4, and it is working properly as my system bootable, keeping the 500GB hard-disk for storage. 2-GPU With only my 1x (PCI Express x16 (v3.0) 4.2" full height, 6.6" length, 75 W max power) left for expansion, I am choosing to go with a passive cooling GeForce®GTX 1050 Ti KalmX with it's TDP at 75 watts being my built limit, although it is not available for sale right now, I will have to wait to be able to get a hold of one. 3-WiFi I want to add WiFi solution to my PC, just so I can have my computer ready for any kind of requirements although I will be running it via cable when working on it, and Bluetooth can get very handy. I didn't know what network card to choose exactly, just because I don't really have a lot of background knowledge about this matter. 4-RAM To be able to carry any kind of task that I will be putting on this computer I would want to match my stick with another 8 GB of DDR4 RAM to have a total of 16 GB memory running at 2133 Mhz enabling the dual channel bandwidth supposedly increasing performance and Graphics processing performance. Problems: 1-Enough power to run the GPU? With my low wattage powersupply I am really concerned if my PC can run a 1050 ti like the KalmX, and I have no idea how to know, and in-case it can't; is it possible to upgrade the PSU in pre-built PCs??? 2-I can't decide what WiFi adapter to get. I would love to hear reviews or insights about WiFi adapters. (I care about Bluetooth, WiFi range and ping) Cost: 1-HP ProDesk 400G4PDM/I77700/500HQ/4C/8f ------- 660$ 2-Samsung evo 960 250GB + Asus hyper m.2 ------- 180$ ....... These prices are for the marker here in Jordan. So prices may differ drastically. (am pretty sure you can get the ssd and the kit for cheaper than this price) And bro aren't these boot time fast

Hey everyone, I'm at my wits end here. I wanted to make some upgrades to a build that is 5 years old. I have an MSI z170a Tomahawk AC motherboard that is usually compatible with 6th gen processors. In looking for compatible parts I found that if you update the BIOS that you can use some 7th generation CPUs including the i7 7700k. I bought an i7-7700k that allegedly was in working condition to replace my i5-6500 I updated the BIOS to the most recent version available for my board. The install on that went great. No problems. Boots and posts fine every time. That's when the BSODs began. The most common one was IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL with a specific .sys file listed. I went through plugging holes in the dam by installing all updates and drivers related to the files listed (Net10.sys, tcpip.sys, and others). After several hours of updating and downloading new drivers, I started to see different BSOD errors occur, or the same IRQL one but with no specific files being mentioned. I got PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA and a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head. It even crashes in safe mode. Now, I've since installed a brand new SSD with a clean install of Windows. Same problems. However, when I switch back to the i5 there are no issues. With the i7 the computer will only run for a few minutes at a time, sometimes up to 20 minutes. If I let it be and don't try to do anything it will stay on longer. I've been using a 10 hour Youtube video as a means of testing if the computer will stay on or not. With the i5 I've had it run for 4 hours with no issues. I applied new thermal compound paste each time. I've tried other versions of BIOS, I've installed all possible drivers from Windows Updates and the drivers available on the product page for my motherboard. I've gone through component by component and removed anything that may be causing an issue. I've booted without a GPU and a network card. I installed the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool and BOTH processors passed in all categories. All of my hardware is operational in the BIOS menu for either processor. The temp is good for both between 31-41 degrees. EDIT: I also removed and replaced the CMOS battery. Is there any way that there is something wrong with the processor outside the parameters that the diagnostic searches for? Would this be a motherboard failing? Am I just missing some obvious driver or software that will make this all work? If someone can confidently say that the it's a bunk processor, I can then go through the process of getting a refund from the ebay seller who sold it to me. I just want to be absolutely sure that I'm not being a dolt here. Please help. THINGS TO NOTE: Here are the dump files https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eFkUHLcU62ylx2c0U_Us4X4XfHhI057Q/view?usp=sharing I currently can not obtain the perfmon data. It takes longer than 60 seconds to collect and the BSOD happens before I can get it. I am currently only running one stick of 16GB RAM because the pins on my other stick got damaged(long story) I was originally running into these errors with an HDD. I had the HDD checked and it was completely functional. I had planned to upgrade to an SSD anyways, so I did, and here we are. Hi! I'm a Finnish/swedish guy who just bought the gs63vr kabylake FHD model (7RF-218NE) and wanted to share my thoughts. It won't go though everything just talk about whats good and bad. The bad: - The trackpad: I can understand why other reviewers have been complaining about the trackpad. The plastic surface feels cheap and cause more traction than glass. The right and left click is also quite stiff which makes one handed use a little bit harder. The elan touchpad software is ok. This is however not an issue that have bothered me yet. - The speakers: Yes, the speakers don't have any base and the sound can be quite hollow and thin. How bad you ask, well let's put it like this: I would rather listen to music from my galaxy s6 speaker. This bothers me quite a bit if I want to watch movies. I use headphones/speakers when listening to music. - Killer wirless card It sucks! Just like every other laptop with a killer wirless card. Why not use a intel one instead...You can't download something at the same time you wan't to surf the web. If you do the internet dies. Removing all apps and programs from killers and reinstalling drivers made it a little better. This bothers me alot. The meh...., that could have been better: - the screen The IPS sceen that came with this model is the same panel as in the asus strix gl502vs (LG Philips LP156WF6-SPB6, LGD046F) It has good viewing angles but the colours look "dull and dim". I would not recomend this laptop for photo editing. The display is also quite dark, I'm using it on max brightness all the time. - Battery There are only one option which is a 65 wh 3 cell battery. It's a shame that they don't have an option to pick a larger battery and skipp the HDD. The battery holds for 4.5- 5 hours on battery-/ecomode while surfing the web or watching movies which is ok but not great. The good: - Build quality The chassi is solid and feels premium. The laptop is very slim and light. I hate the dragon logo tho. No lightbleed. - Performance It performs really well however there are no diffrence from skylake models. Stock Firestrike score is 9700. - Cooling After undervolting the cpu by 0,120 V and disable turbo boost the CPU never reaches over 70 degrees celcius which is amazing with a laptop this thin. The GPU max out at 78 degrees celcius. This is with fan mode set to auto mode not sport mode and doing 4 firestrike benchmarks in a row and playing H1Z1 for 1,5 hour. They where both reaching up to 85 at stock at sportmode which sounded like a vacuum machine. - Fan sound At first I was disapointed because of a high pitched sound comming from the CPU fan which made me want to kill myself. But instead of doing so I did the CPU fix above and now I bearly here the cpu fan at all. The gpu fans is quite loud but far from to high and won't bother anyone with headphones. Im suprised how silent it is reading all the negative reviews. The fans is not running at all while surfing the web or watching movies. I'm happy with the laptop even with its drawbacks. I'm amazed how much power there can be in so small of a package. The premium you pay for portability is in my mind worth every penny. Hope this helps someone! Cheers! // Lillchillers

Hey everyone, so I have this question I still have a 3rd generation i5 (3570k overclocked, check my profile for details if you want) and I know a lot of people that still run i5/i7 from 2nd and 3rd generations in their setups because of the upgrades never really being worth it here in my country. In short I play games and do some streaming and then the basic tasks (some programming for varsity and then the pc is mostly for recreation). would it be worth getting an upgrade to either the new Ryzen or Kabylake CPUs ? The longer explanation: In terms of use it would be mostly for gaming @1080p 144Hz, and streaming some basic gameplay to twitch (directly from pc using OBS and at a low quality because the internet here sucks :"D) Most of the setup will stay the same and the upgrade is only for motherboard, ram and cpu. The cost of getting the i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Tomahawk and 16GB of Crucial 2400MHz DDR4 ram would be about $785 US (Could also swap out the i7 for the i5-7600k dropping the intel setup to $670 US) and getting the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400Mhz, and ASUS Prime X370-Pro would be about $980 US (But if i swap the cpu for the 1700X and the Motherboard for ASUS Prime B350-Plus bringing the price down to about $760 US because I only plan on having 1 GPU for the foreseeable future). The prices may vary as I checked the conversion rate on the day of posting the topic and my country uses South African Rand (ZAR).

I am refunding my dead Mobo, and I wanna buy a different one. I don't have a k CPU but I could maybe get a Mobo so it isn't needed but preferred . Has to support kabylake out of the box

Hello and thank you for taking your time helping me, now lets get to it! Starting off mentioning Ryzen 7. Ryzen 7 1800x performs in several games including Witcher 3, Battlefield 1 and Fallout 4 equal or worse than a i5-7600K which is less than half the price of the flagship Ryzen processor (benchmarks taken from Sweclockers). Having that in mind I'm having a hard time thinking Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 3 will have better single-core performance than ryzen 7 and therefor it is not worth the wait. So therefor I am thinking of good old lazy Intel. Why I'm upgrading Budget Computer has to be fully upgraded(yes, new case) except GPU and Drives, so something around 600-1000 USD // 800-1350 CAD would be my sweet spot, don't have a fit budget but I want value for my money. Usage Gaming while having stuff in the background, I like to multitask so I usually have one/two games + chrome + movie at the same time. Games I play are all in 1080p and range from Battlefield 1, witcher 3 to League of legends and to eastern MMORPG's like Black Desert Online. I basicly play everything. Current Specs Aim I want this new build to hopefully last me for 4+ years as my current one has, so I don't want to cheap out. A quiet Mini-/Micro-ATX build is what I'm aiming for, don't play in running SLI or more than 4 drives so can't really tell why I would need a full size ATX, please explain if you think I need one. Key features: 16GB or more RAM Silent and preferably not water cooling Smaller computer = better Below 1000$ Good to have features: Case having front side USB 3.0 along with headphone and microphone jack Clean look of the case Having 6 or more USB ports in the back Having one USB-C Having 4 slots of RAM if going for 32 GB (it's cheaper) Good integrated sound card (TBH maybe all are good, don't know) I think that was everything I can point out! Full build examples are very much appreciated!

How to update my skylake board for kabylake compatibilities???

Hi All, I'm looking to build a new PC for my brother, the use case is that he's only using my old desktop for light gaming now, but, he's only young and may be getting more involved with heavier and more intensive games in the future. I've picked the parts that I have based on the aspect that it'll last him a while and he'll grow into the performance. He's in love with the S340 Elite and the Trident Z RGB (2400MHz not the faster stuff as linked in the part list), so I'm hoping to keep them how they are. Hence, I'm also using the Asus board due to it having Aura sync. Going to be carrying over a Samsung 850 Evo SSD and a 500GB HDD from the old build. Q: How can I improve this/make it cheaper whilst keeping at a similar quality? I decided to go for a Z270 board cause I can overclock the system, but, is the performance gain really worth the price premium right now? So I'm building a PC with either an i5 6400 or an i5 7400. The 7400 is obviously better but it needs a BIOS update (which requires a CPU to boot) on h110 motherboards, and the cheapest b250 boards are still £25 more expensive. Can anyone think of a solution with the Asus H110M-M.2 and the i5 7400

TL;DR In my haste to get back up and running from a mysterious code that appears upon power on of a sandy bridge system; I ordered a Skylake component list; then to find out that the issue may not be that big [I need forum help on this part] Should I return the Skylake parts? Does this issue have some kind of stability implications? Lately my current system has been pretty unreliable and weird - i5-2500K on a MSI B75 P45 Corporate Stable Model Motherboard - Build date Sep 30 - 2013 A code 99 appears at the bottom right of the screen and lasts enough time for me to lose momentum on the work I do - I freelance - multiple browsers - million tabs open, skype, google docs, video, graphics, sound editing, database building etc - the machine is just an all round work horse. When the code first appeared, I couldn't find a direct answer to what exactly it meant - today I found a few posts on this forum dated 2015 that discussed the issue. Here and Here - this forum post contains a link to the MSI forum where it was indicated by a mod that 99 for MSI meant - "Super I/O initialization" and the forum post went on to add no more than "if its skipping them all quickly its fine!" Before I found this little bit of info, I had already put the system through a battery of troubleshooting tests - tested each stick of ram in each slot one at a time and tested states with and without GPU, SSD, USB, Front Panel etc. The tests revealed that the DIMM3 and DIMM4 slots when occupied, would not allow the PC to boot - this was unrelated to 99 however because....... The code still appears and persists for solid periods of time - therefore based on the MSI post "it is not fine" Amidst all this confusion - I placed an order on components for a replacement Skylake build [migration from Sandy Bridge] - but here I am making this post on the mysterious 9-code-spewing-system [it boots into windows...eventually] - what am I to do here - I'd be burning significant bank if I go ahead and keep the Skylake parts and start from scratch with a new set of unknown variables ----- or I can try to get to the bottom of shady 99 and understand if that's fixable OR I can just trash this system and fully migrate to Skylake on the hope that I will have a system that's going to last me 1000 years and enable me to earn a damn living. Here goes: Should I cancel that order ? - tell me why Can this issue be fixed? Should I put up with a stalled boot for 20 minutes each time I have to boot up again and chug along until a new build is ABSOLUTELY NEEDED?

So, Im looking for a decent skylake motherboard with more than 1 PCIE x16 slot, under 55. The only ones i can afford support DDR3/L. Is this a bad investment, considering the ram prices are around the same? My budget is £550, https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/yyB2BP is my current build. I am just worried, as for 1, ddr3 is already outdated/slow and 2 apparently non L ddr3 can cause issues with skylake.

I am overclocking my i7-7700k on a gigabyte z270 mini itx wifi board. I just used the preset bios to "upgrade" my chip to i7 7700k 5ghz auto. After giving the cpu 1.41volts it worked! cineabenchg scores are great. I wanted to make sure I wouldn't overheat so I began a ROG stress test. After 7mins of running at 5000.1mhz it began to slip down to 2500mhz every few seconds. the process kept happening so I shut down the test. Temps were well within limit when this happened. Maybe its my power supply? I have 430 watts EVGA. thanks!

So i know that some skylake non-k cpus were able to oc with certain boards, . My question is: can you do it with a g4560? And if so.. what mobos?

Hi guys, I have a little problem. I'm building two exact systems for my dad's company. Specs are: Intel Core i5 7600k Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2H Kingston HyperX Fury 8 GB DIMM DDR4-2400 Corsair Builder CX450M Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo I've now build one of those but it doesn't post. It gives repeated long beeping sounds from the speaker which I connected after it didn't boot the first time. Things I've tried: Reseat the CPU Reapply thermal paste (because I used way too much) Clear CMOS Reseat RAM 1000x Use different ram stick Use different CPU I was going to try to use the other motherboard to build the other pc before trying the different CPU but after I swapped the cpu out for the other one, I'm not sure that's the fastest approach to fixing this problem. I would love to hear your suggestions and hope to fix this as soon as possible. Thanks! Kind regards, Zandor I wish I was Linus right now, he would know how to fix this Socket pins look fine to me:

As the Ryzen reviews are coming out and the debacle that surrounds it I need to ask this. If I'm buying a GTX 1070 and planning on playing games on high in 1080p is there any reason to buy an R7 1700? My plan is to first build a game computer, second use it to create content and third school. Mostly Youtube videos and maybe if "the stars a line" stream my content and create videos out of that or just post the whole thing on Youtube I don't know yet. I'm just trying to make sense of what I need to do, which is the reason for this post. As I see more and more results I'm moving toward a 7700K because It's flat out beating the R7 1800X in gaming and it's WAY out of my price range. The Z270 boards are also more reasonably priced as well, plus I see that Ryzen doesn't overclock well while Kabylake you really don't need to overclock to get great results. What are your thoughts on the direction I need to go? Cause I don't know...

I'm really not sure what information you guys need to give me accurate advice on overclocking my CPU but here are my specs. i7 7700k cpu EVGA GTX 1080 Superclocked ROG Maximus IX Hero Motherboard Corsair H80 AIO liquid cooler (cooler from my old build back in 2012) Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz Corsair Carbide Series 200R Compact ATX Case EVGA Supernova G1 650W 120-G1-0650-XR Fully Modular Power Supply I took a screenshot of my CPU Temperatures (using Real Temp) while idle and a screenshot after approximately 20 minutes of playing Overwatch on epic settings. When playing Minecraft it says that my speed is 4.20 GHz in the f3 specs. I'm not really sure who to consult so I made an account and I'm asking you guys for your advice! I typically play a lot of games on my pc. Mostly Battlefield 1 and Overwatch right now.

I'm building this (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/XBqxVY) PC, but the MSI site only lists my Mobo as compatible with 6th gen processors. Is there a BIOS update for this here or on the way? If so how do I update it without a CPU, and if not are there any KabyLake supporting motherboards for around the same price?
