My friend's pc started having issues with booting after it was shutdown unexpectedly several times due to power outage. When I press the power button it keeps turning on and off on and off all the time, until it boots after 30 mins or so. I tried to remove the ram and it always boots up when I do so. I updated the bios, cleared the CMOS, nothing worked I don't know if its a ram issue, PSU issue, motherboard issue... The setup ( Asrock b250 pro4, i5 7400, 1060 3GB ASUS, 1 stick 16gb hyperx fury 2666, 1TB WD HDD 7200)

I currently work as a network analyst 4 days a week. It's great, but I don't really do anything for the first 8 hours of my days off because my fiance works third shift and doesn't wake up until 3 or 4pm. So I'm wanting to do freelance tech support. I was thinking about setting up an email ticketing system and charging $40 hourly (min 1 hour). Advertising on Facebook for now. Problem, I don't know what I'm missing. What's a good open source ticketing system (or paid if I must)? I feel like I'm mostly targeting grandmas if I'm doing day shift home tech support how should I charge? Has anyone else done this more professionally than friends and family? How'd that go? I'm also going to update this thread with whatever I find and use, but I'm always excited for help!

At the moment, I am deploying numerous apps through Intune to MacOS as LoB apps. So far, I've been able to properly set the CFBundleIdentifiers for each one. However, while trying to get this softphone client called RingCentral deployed I'm noticing error 0x87D13BA7. This error shows up when the set Bundle Identifier is "wrong", even though I've cross referenced it with the .plist file that the installer came with, and it should be correct. Only one app bundle identifier is currently being put under "Included apps" through intune: com.ringcentral.glip 23.2.21.7380 The version does not matter because it self updates, so I flagged it so intune would say any version counts as an installed version, however, all of the installations are reporting back as failures. Interestingly enough, the app does download and install properly to mac systems, it just has no way of communicating back to intune that it IS installed likely due to a missing app package or something. Attatched is the config I've set for the app on the MacOS deployment. If anyone has deployed RingCentral for MACOS before through intune or jamf or something similar and knows what packages need to be included in the intune app configuration, that would be awesome. Another thing, I used to have a website bookmarked that had a macos terminal command that would create a text file of each installed CFBundleIdentifier and I'd use that to troubleshoot apps that weren't reporting back to intune properly, but i've lost that webpage and I would really like to find it but it's no worries if its just not possible.

I have a device that has a ip of something of something like 189.234.54.22, but I'm trying to be able to map that device on a network that uses a 192.168.X.X. Is there a way to be able to access that device on the network mapping its ip to 192.168 network using some static ip trickery? This is for a Dairy we use a EZ-feed Radio that has that static ip that we keep just plugged into a second ethernet port on a pc so the applicatio we use for it can see it. My goal is to have all the computers in the office be able to see it.

Hello All! Long time LTT viewer, first time posting on the forum. I recently accepted a help desk technician position for a firm in Nebraska. My previous employer provided all equipment (phone, laptop, mobile hot-spot, peripherals, etc) however, my new employer is a BYOD environment. Looking for something that is a good balance of gaming power yet has good enough battery life and I/O for IT work. Interested to hear everyone's suggestions! *Something with a ethernet port would be nice so I don't have to carry around dongles

I thought I'd ask this, since my old job was getting rid of a ton of servers, desktops, hard drives, and switches that were perfectly fine. Luckily I was able to a lot of it since my boss literally couldn't care less where they went so my coworker and I were able to nab some of the stuff we wanted. I just want to know what kind of stuff people have thrown out that works completely fine once either fixed up a little, or just powered on. if any one is interested here is a list of stuff a was able to get: A few network switches Around 15 or so desktops (I sold a ton of them for gas and bills) 3 Servers 8 or so iPods (which I traded in for an Xbox) 7 or so laptops (I mainly sold them, I kept a few old ones for my collection, and I use a couple for daily drivers) 30 Raspberry pis (Half of them need to be fixed tho) 2 UPS stations

Hi everybody, I'm working on a project for school about technology and I have to see whether the IT structure of a hotel is functional enough or if things can be updated. As I'm not really knowledgeable about firewalls, switches, routers etc. it would be nice if somebody can review it and give some advice! The hotel is 25hours Hotel The Circle, located in Cologne (Germany). It has 8 floors and 207 rooms. I'm leaving attached the scheme of the IT structure, so it's easier to understand. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi, I am taking an IT analysis course in hopes to secure myself a job in the industry (even if I just start out in a helpdesk position). I'm not even sure what I'm looking for atm but I need more than my laptop with only 8gb of ram. My budget is 2000 canadian dollars. On top of that good screen and battery would be a bonus. Thanks.

BTOB Blue is a subunit consisting of BTOB's Eunkwang, Changsub, Hyunsik, and Sungjae, essentially all the vocalists of BTOB minus the rappers, Ilhoon and Peniel. When It Rains is the quartet's 2018 single, and of course will follow the ballad style that the vocalists of BTOB are known for. I love the vocals of BTOB a lot so having all the vocalist in a subunit like this seems like it will make for a soothing, relaxing, comfortable, warm ballad to listen to when it rains, no pun intended. Today I'll be listening to the group's ballad, When It Rains, and sharing my thoughts on the song. 0:21 - The opening is beautiful, with Eunkwang's vocals effortlessly flowing in with the simple background instrumentals. I love that the vocals are ever so more forward than the instrumentals, the background composition is giving his vocals a lot of body especially with the undertone present underneath his vocals. The piano's rhythm also follows the vocal flow and it makes the whole composition sound so complete. 0:53 - Changsub's strong and powerful vocals are amazing here, and the background instrumentals rise ever so slightly. There's also now a background choir underneath his vocals which gives Changsub's vocals some more body and it sounds so melodic and warm. The piano also stays throughtout to maintain the slow, ballad tempo. 1:41 - The instrumentals are more subdued here and they gradually increase in volume compared to the vocals which allows the listener to anticipate the next chorus and keep the listener on edge, I love the feeling of being kept on the ride of they boys' amazing vocals. 2:17 - Much the same as the first chorus but with a harder-hitting kickdrum to accentuate the caliber and atmosphere of the ballad, combined with amazing vocals. The background choir sings in a higher register here and it gives the boys' vocals even more soul and energy. 3:00 - The choir is even more prominent here and I feel like it's become an epic opera, the caliber of their vocals is outstanding. 3:32 - The vocals are exploding here, the amazing vocals combined with the epic choir and the muted instrumental composition makes for a great final chorus to fully complete the building energy that was present throughout the song. BTOB did not disappoint here. When It Rains is an amazing ballad that perfectly showcased their amazing vocal ability. The addition of the soft choir gave their vocals and the song more energy and charisma, especially when the background composition mainly consisted of a few guitars, a piano, and some other minor instrumentals. I love the focus on their vocals moreso than anything else, I feel like that's what BTOB is out there to do. Their vocals were far forward than anything else in the song and it shows. The choir was merely there to assist them. It's a common theme in BTOB ballads to use a secondary choir to accentuate their main vocals, and it's definitely worked in this ballad.

Hi, I just finished putting together my new PC, but it won´t use the graphics card, but it still recognizes the card. When going in to device manager, it says code 43. I have tried many tutorials, but can´t get it to work. All parts are new, accept for the graphics card. I tried moving the graphics card (3080) to my old computer, and then it works. I also tried putting my old graphics card (1080), in to my new PC, and then it works as well. My specs are as followed: Asus rog strix B650E-I gaming wifi Corsair vengeance DDR5 2x16GB 6000MHz MSI RTX 3080 Suprim X Ryzen 7 5800x (water cooled) and some power supply 850W 80 plus gold Are about to smash my PC to bits, so any help would be very appreciated.

Backstory: I'm an 18 year old fresh out of High School. I have a fair amount of knowledge about computers. I know about as much as any experienced PC builder would know. My Problem: I want a job in the tech industry, I'd prefer to work at a store like the Microsoft store or a store like Micro-Center. Or, if possible maybe being a contractor hired to go out to various business for tech support. Would you recommend a certification like the CompTIA A+ or is there a better option that covers a wide range of jobs? If you have a job in this industry, please let me know which certification you think would be best for me. I was thinking about taking this course here for $2,900 USD: https://www.netcomlearning.com/courses/1009/CompTIA-A-Certification-training.html

I can't work out if i should upgrade or not, the answer for people with i3's and i5's is a bit more simple, as in, just get Ryzen. But for myself and other's ive spoken to who also have haswell i7's, we are a bit unsure if it's worth it. IF i was going to get a Ryzen i would probably go for the 1600x, but that obviously involves a new MOBO and new RAM which i don't really want to deal with. The fact that i already have a fairly expensive platform, minus the CPU and GPU kinda puts me off replacing it. Basically i want to know if my 4790s is gonna hack it for another few years, more specifically if it will play nicely with a Vega when they drop ? I really want to give some love to red team this year but Ryzen seems a bit pointless and expensive for me. What do you reckon ??

Hello all! I am looking for suggestions on a fairly cheap, if not free asset management solution, and ways to implement this. I have tried Spiceworks for an automated kind of solution, but it fails to read all the devices on the domain, and so I am looking to go to a traditional scan in/scan out management solution. if you have any ideas or suggestions for a barcode based, (preferable) Windows based solution, that would be awesome! If it had support for fixed assets as well, or could be manipulated to "tag" certain assets that aren't necessarily computers or networking, that would be awesome as well, but not required. ~Nick

So if you read the tags you understand my Dilemma, I have a Windows 10 professional, fun gaming rig a built a few months back. I've never had any problems with the sound before. I have an NVIDIA 970 running the sound and video through an HDMI Also I bought a Focusrite Scarlet solo installed the software (delicately and properly) and have a pair of Beyerdynamics 880 premiums plugged in through an 1/8" cable. It only lags when I run it through their driver. Thought it might be some problem with the NVIDIA driver so I uninstalled it, checked and restored my disk. Nothing. Thought it might be my motherboard's audio driver (Realtek) so I uninstalled that, and checked it, and restored it. Nope Thought it might be a weird hard drive problem so I defragged it, nah. Just watching Youtube it does it, and it's starting to tick me off. I FINALLY SAVE UP AND BUY NICE HEADPHONES AND THEY DON'T WORK ON MY PC, NOOOOOOOOOOOO. HELP! When they aren't lagging they sound like heaven, and I just them to work liddat all the time! Also interestingly enough the usb ports on the front of the case don't work anymore. EDIT: Sometimes I should type slower. EDIT: Pigeon for style.

Donald Trump signed an executive order recently that spawned a technology council to oversee the modernization of U.S. governmental IT systems. This was brought about by a GAO report last year that reported that government IT investments "are becoming increasingly obsolete: many use outdated software languages and hardware parts that are unsupported." Some government systems have 50+ year-old components, and the machine that's largely responsible for the U.S. nuclear arsenal's coordination is so old that it still uses floppy disks. Well, I think that this is definitely a good thing, and hopefully this'll reduce the number of security breaches like the ones that have plagued the U.S. government recently. So I'm tinkering with the idea of building a cheapish little computer to act as a server for my gaming community using parts I have laying around. It will be mostly used for 7 days 2 die and minecraft. Parts wise it's older stuff, generic oem mobo, 450w psu, phenom ii x4 @3.2ghz, 32gb ddr2, 500gb WD 7200rpm hhd. How well would this work and for how many ppl?, the only thing I dnt have is the ram and I wanted to get opinions before I purchase it. Thanks for you time -wardance Forgot gpu HD 4650 1gb

Hi everyone, I love Linus and LinusTechTips, but I was wondering if anyone recommended other good forums and YouTube personalities. I always like having a plethora of resources at hand for technology education. Again, I love Linus and LinusTechTIps, I just want to expand my resource base. I'm familiar with Tom's Hardware, StackOverflow, Microsoft Community, and a couple others. I also really like Eli the Computer Guy on Youtube. Do you recommend any other forums or YouTube personalities? Looking strictly for technology education. Thanks!

Should I upgrade to Ryzen 5 or should I wait for the price of the i5 to go down and then buy the i5?

Hi, I'm looking for a new graphic card, and with the budget I have the sweet spot will be the 1070. For which brand should i go? Notice that I'm from italy and here the price are a little crazy. I'm going to shop the card from amazon because the prices are the lowest there. So just like the title says, have you? I ask because I've just been called by some guy at a store I buy most things from, and he politely and without directly saying I have to, asked me to modify an old review to a product to which I gave a negative review. Now I've figured that's probably because next week is black friday and that store wants to put that item at a discount, but seeing that it has bad reviews people won't buy it. My review isn't the only negative one. Now has anything like this ever happened to you guys?
