It was backlight bleed as it didn't improve from different distances, angles or brighter room. Additionally the bleed is visible during normal content as a washed out color area forms where the bleed is strongest, meaning it doesn't depend on the content on screen, which is the backlight. See my last comment for the full explanation and image. Unfortunately I'm not at home but as soon as I'm back I'll add more photos. So last week I decided to buy this 2023 LG GP95RP-B 400 nits IPS (on the left, while on the right is a Samsung G3 VA 250 nits) that retailed for 650+ EUR and I got it for 485 form LG itself. Colors, brightness, contrast...all is good, except for the IPS glow, which is too strong even with my 2000nits lightbulb. In the photo you can see the glow in the corners, the areas where it's darker is just Local Dimming, which gives a good black level, whereas with LD off the entire screen looks like those corners and it's unbearable. It's a pretty uniform bad glow and even getting farther doesn't do much. My Legion 5 15ARH7H 300 nits IPS is magnitudes better, so much so that I watch movies on it. Even my cheapo Dell S2319H form 2018 has lower IPS glow. Could it be a bad run? Should I ask for a replacement? Thank a lot, really appreciate.

Hi, I am kinda beginner in this kind of stuff, but my dad owns a 4-story house, where the internet is having some problems. In the building there are 3 routers daisy chained to the one on the first floor, meaning the one on the first floor is connected to the wire from ips and the other routers are all connected to the first one, total 4 routers. The first router (which is connected to the ips wire) is provided by my IPS (EURO DOCSIS® 3.1 WIFI EMTA), but the other 3 routers are tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 routers. The download speed from my IPS is 1Gb/s and upload is 60Mb/s. I tried to test the internet by trying to watch videos on YT, which worked fine. But if I tried for example longer movies or trying to measure the internet speed by loading speedtest.net, it would not load. If I tried to load speedtest.net, it would pop me the "webpage is not avaiable". Each router is working on a different channel frequency and the problem is happening on every router, which i would pinpoint it to the first router or just IPS. In CMD i tried pinging www.google.com, which worked fine. But if tried "tracert www.google.com", the second and third row would be timed out. Is it because the first router does not have enough cache or RAM to process all that data from all those routers?

These 2-3 lines (horizontal, single pixel thick) have appeared in the bottom of my gaming monitor (AOC 24G2SP 24″ FHD IPS Panel 165Hz). The picture has been linked at the bottom of this post. They appear to be as green / blue, however, the color changes depending on what color the rest of the screen is. The lines completely disappear when the display is all white. I have checked all the cables, my GPU, and any other software related concern. The issue still remains. What could this indicate guys? Monitor was bought in May 2023. It's still under warranty, however I have lost warrany information due to moving places, and I live in a country where AOC does not have any "official" resellers, I got this through a relative coming back from the USA. So I've been using the Seasonic VA2409-H for couple of years now, its a solid monitor enough for my need, and for about a year now I use it as secondary monitor, ususally to show a firefox tab. just now after cold booting the PC, I realise around the corner of the screen, I got this greenish vignetting with a hinted of familiar firefox interface there, just like burn (image retention) in on OLED screen. I tried to change my windows walpaper temporarily to plain white solid color, and after 30 minutes leaving it on, its sorta fading out, but still noticable, hopefully it will be gone completely. My question is, is it still posibble that modern (and cheap) IPS panel still got this image retention issue? and is it just temporarily and can be gone quickly or it can be permanent one? or can it be attributed to just lower end of IPS panel? And what the easiest way to clear the issue (like me who changing the wallpaper temporarily to solid white color)? Anyway I admitted its my fault to leave the secondary monitor at idle at full brightness when showing static firefox tab .

I am currently looking to upgrade from my aoc 24g2 and wanted to try 1440p. Im trying to decide which monitor is best for me. Honestly would love to try mini led since i also use my monitor to watch movies a lot and 240hz isn't a big deal for me with the LG. What are your thoughts on both monitors?

Does anyone have experience with the samsung odyssey G5? The ultrawide 1440p 165Hz version (1000R curve). It's a VA panel so I don't know what to expect, some say VA is really bad with the smearing and some say it's not that bad. Currently running an LG 29inch ultrawide 1080p 60Hz IPS monitor. The deal I could get on the samsung is €300. 2 other options are the AOC CU34G2X (VA, 1440p, 144Hz, 1500R curve) at €289 and AOC U34G3XM (VA, 1440p, 144Hz, flat panel) at €299 Recommendations? What about the different curves? Or the flat panel? For me, right now it's a shot in the dark

Hello Monitors enthusiasts, So I was comparing two monitors specs to see which had the better looking/more enjoyable visual experience . The First one(M156NVF6 R1) was 1000 Nits and 2000:1 Contrast ratio and 71% NTSC 100%sRGB 74% Adobe RGB 74% DCI-P3 not sure if it has matte finish The Second one (N156HCA-GA4) was 500 Nits and 1000:1 Contrast ratio but 96% NTSC 100%sRGB 88% Adobe RGB 100% DCI-P3 and has matte finish and anti-glare And both were IPS and 60Hz, So do you think having higher brightness and contrast ratio will beat a better/wider colour gamut coverage? my use is mostly web browsing, entertainment such youtube, and video games(potentially that support HDR) Give me your thoughts and thanks for Reading

So I just bought the Alienware AW2723DF monitor with IPS panel. I wanted to test the colors and backlight bleed with the build in diagnostic tool and when I put the image to black I see a lot of backlight bleed from all over the monitor. Should I replace the monitor for a new one or is that amount of backlight bleed considered normal? The reddish spot in the top middle of the screen doesn't look so bad in real life, but it still has a white glow.

Thanks in advance for reading, I'll get right into what I'm looking for. I've been researching at least an hour a day this week & there's so many options with extremely similar part numbers I'm having a hard time keeping all the differences straight. Desired Features: 1440p 144hz+ IPS Under $400 including taxes Real measured contrast (not what the box says) of 1000:1 (what my dead XB271HU could do) Decently low minimum brightness, less than 55cd/m (old monitor I believe gets down ~35cd/m & much brighter would be too much at night for me) Wider color range is better, obviously, but I don't think any meaningful kind of HDR is realistic in my budget Fully adjustable stand - like I almost pulled the trigger on a M27Q-P at my local B&H for $300 but the stand doesn't rotate, & I rotate my monitor a lot. At least 1 USB port, I have an SFF PC and could use the extra USB port for charging peripherals. Usage: 40% reading (so no M27Q with the BRG layout that has worse text clarity) 40% gaming (I don't really need more than 144hz, rocking a 3070 FTW3 for at least another year) 20% movies/tv viewing LG 27GL850 and LG 27GP850 both have much worse contrast than my old monitor at about 735:1 and 800:1 respectively. GP850 gets brighter & dimmer too, better gray & black uniformity, but stretches the budget at $376. 27GL83A-B has better contrast at ~900:1 but also no USB ports. It's also only $285 right now. Also tried to compare with LG 27GN800-B but similar drawbacks there. But apparently none of these LG models swivel. I think every LG model has at least 2 things I don't like, like no swivel or contrast in the 700-800:1 range mostly. I thought I was leaning towards the Asus TUF VG27AQ at $300. That's got a 1200:1 contrast ratio whereas the newer VG27AQL1A is ~1000 and its local dimming is terrible and the DisplayHDR400 certification is bullcrap anyway. However the minimum brightness on the VG27AQ is a super bright 130+cd/m! Fully adjustable stand though. So this has me thinking, Acer Nitro XV272U KVbmiiprzx which I think hit's everything I want. Rtings has it outperforming the LG 27GL850 in nearly everything. Looks like it'll run me about $350. But confusingly there's also the Acer Nitro XV272U Vbmiiprx which seems the same minus the USB hub but that doesn't fully explain being way cheaper at $250. And I have no idea what the difference is with the Acer Nitro XV272U RVbmiiprx which is listed at $330. Apparently the stands are a bit wobbly for all of these but I can live with that I guess. Just feeling a bit lost in my choices right now. I could grab a Gigabyte M27Q-P today and the $300 price is perfect but the lack of swivel really bothers me. KVM is nice but not really needed, but it does also seem to have a decent contrast ratio of about 1000:1 although a minimum brightness of 100cd/m is pretty high. Can anyone help me either confirm that I should just try to get the XV27U KVbmiiprzx, or tell me a monitor I've been overlooking, or...? I'm having to do all my research on an almost broken old macbook & am feeling overwhelmed with the number of options on the market, eager to make a decision I'll be happy with since my old monitor died about a week after I finished my new gaming build and the same day I finally downloaded Red Dead Redemption 2 so I'm big sad about it!

I know that IPS has natural colors, good viewing angles and yet there is no flicker that strains the eyes. I have a Huawei P Smart 2018 phone and in stores it says that it has IPS TFT, LCD TFT or that it is just IPS and it is not known which screen it has. Are these screens very similar that there is no difference? More and more phones have OLED or AMOLED screens that tire the eyes and make them wet. I don't like it and prefer IPS screens. The most important thing for me is that the screen does not flicker and then has realistic colors.

A bit of context here. So I got back from the hospital about an hour ago, (I am fine) my little sister had an allergic reaction and I drove her down. I had been there for several hours and it turns out I left my PC on in my rush to leave. So, my display the Gigabyte G24F2 sat there with steam open in the center of the screen (covering maybe 50% of the screen) for I am guessing 6ish hours. The desktop background cycles about every 10 minutes, but that was the only part that was changing Steam, the desktop icons and the task bar were all static. Since I need to sleep at least a little before I go to work I just shit it down and power cycled the monitor. I did not bother to check it, but now I can't sleep with the anxiety my gaming monitor might be damaged. The brightness of the display is at 70% if memory serves. Incase that helps in some way.

This morning while playing games I left my screen idle while I was on my phone for little more than 5minutes. When I returned to my game the monitor looked discolored and when on certain backgrounds showed image retention. The image was to the point where I could read text. I shut off the monitor and left it for around and hour thirty or two hours when I came back it had faded a bit but wasn't completely back to normal. I then shut if off again and now the image is gone but now new images are retaining within seconds. Even in YouTube videos I'm getting scenes on the monitor and even severe color staying where text was. After leaving it on for a short time the backlight looked like it was changing its brightness and I noticed what seemed like discoloration. Even when moving around a chrome window I would get several freezes of it on my screen within seconds. I've had this monitor since late December or early January. From what I know image retention is common on ips displays and fades in time however, my case seems abnormal and today is the first time this has happened. I'm hoping the issue will resolve itself overnight if not than I'll have to wait until Monday to call customer service. What I'm wondering is if something like this will go away if I let the display stay off or if may be a panel defect. The panel has been perfect up until this point and I haven't touched the screen or caused any physical damage to the panel.

Which one should I go for a sAMOLED screen/display without HDR or IPS LCD screen/display with HDR 10? As someone who enjoys watching anime, I like screen contrast and vibrant colours for which AMOLED is the best option at least for now. Then there may not be any reason for posting this question right? Well, but I have some doubts. Will having HDR10 mean that the IPS will perform close to the sAMOLED? And are sAMOLED and AMOLED same? Should I keep HDR10 as the main focus over the actual display/screen technology.

I need an idea on the good monitor for my budget. I'm on a serious budget for this, I almost fell for a VA panel at 1080p. But from all I've read from different threads online is disputing the idea of going for a VA monitor. IPS 1440p!!! My budget may sound funny it's $100 - $170. Please any helps

So I'm looking for a 144Hz 1440p IPS 27inch screen that can run 144Hz through HDMI, because I have a gaming laptop that I use for creative work aswell and I don't have a displayport. I ordered the LG 27GL850 UltraGear a few days ago and it doesn't seem to output more than 100Hz via HDMI. I did some research and it seems like I'm right and LG just asumes people are going to use display ports. So here I am stuck and not knowing how to know if a screen supports 144Hz through HDMI because sites don't even mention it. also I tried to set the screen to 144Hz using the display settings in windows, also tried via Nvidea control panel didn't work. tried calling the company that I bought it from, they don't know. Pls help.

Just got a monitor from Viewsonic. The top of the line Gaming monitor they have in the 24" range Model XG2405. Saw some good reviews about it and as unlucky as I am, I got a dead/stuck sub-pixel in the bottom right corner. Its stuck on red in white/yellow but black in blue/green. Now the thing is that I have 1 free replacement of the monitor from Amazon but of this unit is faulty again then I will have to contact manufacturer and they will deny RMA as they have 5pixel policy. Apart from the dead pixel the colours are good and ips glow is minimal and corner vignette is not present. So should I take a risk and go for replacement or stay with the current one considering I got it on a offer of 5year 1:1 replacement warranty. I mean there is no guarantee that the next unit will be flawless and the pixel doesn't bother me that much. Hope that it doesn't spread all over the screen. Added some images for reference. And thanks for the constant help I get from this forum. Its quicker than :cough: some other ones.

So I've been doing a good amount of research, as I'm looking to buy a 144hz monitor, not too cheap, but also not burning my bank. I've pretty much settled on this one monitor, the Asus TUF VG249Q. The one thing that's been worrying me is that it's ips display. Now, obviously it advertises 1ms response time, but I can't remember how many times people say IPS has super slow response times compared to TN. Is it really that bad? Or am I overthinking. And as a side note, how does the monitor pair up against the VG24VQ. Pretty much the same monitor, but with a VA panel. I appreciate anything!

So im currently playing on an alienware 1080p 240hz monitor and im thinking of upgrading to the alienware 1440p 240hz IPS Monitor (Alienware AW2721D) but its not set in stone yet. i have a gtx 1080 and ryzen 7 3700x, i mostly play low demanding games Dota 2 and CS:GO which i know i can easily get 240hz even with 1440p but my concern is that i know i wont hit 240fps on a game like lets say Forza Horizon 5, is it still "OK" to have 240hz monitor if i dont hit 240hz on triple A games like forza / cyberpunk etc? Also i need to upgrade my gpu when i do make the jump so what should i look for? im thinking of buying the rtx 3060 or 3070 when 4k series launches hoping the prices of the 3k series drops to normal cost. TLDR: i mostly play low demanding games and i want to upgrade to IPS 1440p 240hz BUT i still play Triple A games here and there, would it be a "waste" of money to buy a 240hz monitor even if i cant hit 240fps on demanding games?

Currently im looking at the "Gigabyte M32Q" and "Alienware AW2721D" Currently the gigabyte is cheaper on blackfriday sale only for 400€ but the screen is quite large compared to my current 24inch screen and its not 240hz its 170hz, so im a bit unsure should i wait for the alienware to go on sale (potentially mising this gigabyte sale if i wait too long) or bite the bullet and go for the gigabyte? also because of a larger screen i would need even more GPU power to play games on it? correct?

Hello, i'm deciding on a new monitor, my budget isn't really that much, and i would like to know what monitor to buy, i'm torn between a Samsumg S24D322H TN Panel and a LG 24MK430H IPS Panel. I've searched, and IPS suffers from IPS glow, i play in a dark room and watch a lot of movies/series/anime with a lot of dark scenes, which one would be better option for me? i'm aware of the better color accurary with the IPS but, would the IPS glow ruin dark scenes in dark rooms for me? They are around the same price but i really can't decide which one to choose, would the IPS be like a lottery for less ips glow as possible?

Hi I have a problem with my new monitor it's the LG 27GP950-B and it gets really hot not just warm the screen and the back and I don't know if I should return it and it's outside of my country so It would be a hassle i tried turning it's RGB lights of it still to hot and it might because of the brightness but I chose it because it has good peak brightness so I hope that's not the problem
