Hi yall, its me again... So I kinda need help figuring out what the heck is going on... I am using a 4G router/dongle for internet connection to my laptop (I have to cuz in my room its poor signal so I carry the internet over USB 2.0 cables to my laptop). Anyways the internet is working fine somehow and the speeds aint bad either but I was browsing a particular modding website, I clicked on a bunch of mods to download and tested them, they were ugly and or didnt even work so I commented them creators in comment section that some "real" stuff was unrealistic and so on... Unfortunately one of them creators was a moderator and I got permanently banned from said website, so I created new account and it got banned aswell... So this was what happened before I started tinkering with my IP and Mac addresses. I was googling what was going on and how to change IP cuz I assume that they IP banned me from there but they have mods and them mods are basically unvaiable from anywhere else... I havent found anything on how to change the IP address on the internet so I smacked the card into my phone and my IP has changed (twice)... Then I put the card back to the dongle and the IP went back to where it was before... then I tested phone again and it had the same as I had before on the phone (different from the dongle though) so I have found out that changing Mac address will eventually have a result of different IP address... anyways I put the card back to the dongle but used 2 USB extensions instead of 3 that I had before... and it changed the IP address... So if my brain process is correct, just changing a cable extension had a result of changing the Mac address? Hence it changed IP? Am I wrong here? If so, would this helped to avoid that boring IP ban? (just to make a note here, I kinda care about this cuz I have like 200 gigs of mods to make the game feel like a new game since I spent well over 250 hours in vanilla version that got boring long time ago and its basically fun only with mods, the problem is the mods require me to login and since I get banned when I login under new account, I cannot play). Also does hardware ID has any role in this case? I know yall dont know the exact system they search and ban people but if they see a new account, same IP they ban instantly but if everything is different, can they also see my hardware ID? If so then how to get rid of that? I was testing and everything for past 5 hours and its 5:20 in the morning now and I dont have energy to brainstorm this thing anymore so I came here to ask the pros, but please dont be toxic and dont comment with weird stuff like the last time I was here with an issue... I also have one more hardware related issue with my CPU being wanky in that laptop (it works but no matter what I do, after last windows update and last nvidia drivers update, the FPS goes to hell and in games where I had 60+ fps on GTX 1060 I have now 20-25 FPS on RTX 3060 but thats for another day since I havent tried everything yet). So please, just if you have some idea, share it with me, if you wanna just blame or troll me then ignore this topic, thank you alot ♥

So here's the deal, I have a /29 IP block from ExtraIP, and I want to assign those to my virtual machines on my server so that I can access them through (for example) 37.123.213.231 instead of my usual public IP. I have a KPN Experia Box V12 router, and I can't use that to route any IP addresses. Can anyone help me? I have virtual machines (ubuntu server) set up on my dedicated Ubuntu (GUI) server. I would like to know how to assign each of them a public IP address, since I want to start a VPS hosting business, but I don't know how to get started with the user's IP addresses. Explain to me like I'm 5 if you can, as I'm quite a noob when it comes to networking

Hey all, first time posting looking for some help with my strange home network issue. Appreciate any help I can get thanks in advanced! Windows 10 Home Desktop Hardware: X99Pro/USB3.1 i7-5820K GTX 1080 32gig ram samsung evo 870 Network situation Verizon FIOS router - G3100 2 scenarios to be aware of Before issue - router was directly connected to mobo through a cat5e cable After issue - router was directly connected into tp-link TG-3468 ethernet card in a 16x slot Situation A couple days before the issue started happening, there was an outage in my area for FIOS After it came back a few hours later, youtube on my desktop was loading very slow I ran the normal internet speed test from various sources and each one of them said my download was fine at roughly 900mbps but my upload was either 1mbps or less than 1 All my other wifi connected and ethernet connected computers and mobile devices (all mac) were working fine both upload and download were as normal I ran all the typical troubleshooting options ipconfig commands resetting network adapter reinstalling network driver rebooting router factory resetting router Called provider to do a lot of the same but also reset the ONT In the end I ended up going to microcenter and pinking up a tp-link TG3468 and a brand new cat5e to see if it was my onboard network controller While doing some more trouble shooting before installing the new card, I found that disabling IPv6 internet protocol in the network adapter settings actually fixed my upload issue for my onboard network adapter. I know it probably doesn't matter if its off really but I did not like that solution so I went ahead and installed the TP Link card I guess my 1x slot is dead because my computer could not pick up the card when it was plugged in Moved the card to a 16x slot I was not using and it started working HOORAY EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO NORMAL Sadly, now every couple days for some reason my ethernet connection stops working light on the TP Link card is solid green wifi on desktop still works just fine its just ethernet looking at the router's connected device list, it shows that it doesn't even recognize my desktop through an ethernet connection all ip settings and DNS settings are set to automatic ipconfig /all doesnt show an ip address for my connected ethernet Ethernet card in Network Adapter Settings shows "Unidentified Network" as its status resetting the network adapter and/or re connecting the ethernet cable does nothing the only solution is to power cycle the router Any idea of whats going on? can I somehow make the router force to remember my desktop ethernet connection? Sorry that was a lot of text and thank you for anyone that got this far!

So I have another question for you ultra nerds out there. I was fooling around in my Oracle VM. I turned off the pfsense router, and disabled the ethernet in my Windows 10 VM. I pinged the Apipa address, and didn't get a response, as I expected. But when I ping the name of the PC itself, I get a response via the loopback address. I was not expecting that at all. Why is the loopback address responding? How would that help me troubleshoot a connection issue in this instance? With Ethernet on, pfsense still turned off, the Apipa address showed up when pinging the PC name before.

So, recently I've been trying to use remote management on my Netgear WNR-614 router. Now, before we get into this discussion, let me point out a few things. Firstly, My router currently has an internal IP of 192.168.1.1 (will refer to as T3IP) Secondly, my ISP setup a static IP on my router, whiich is 172.16.x.x (will refer to as T2IP) Thirdly, googling my IP address, and also using no-ip.com shows that my public IP is 118.179.x.x (will refer to this as T1IP) Lastly, my router is set to a specific port Y for remote management and noip domain being z.ddns.net , which is also set for the Dynamic DNS Service in the router settings, and I also have an app in a PC that is always on to keep refreshing the IP for the DDNS service every 5 minutes. I tried to access the router using T2IP:Y, but that only works inside the home wifi network, doesn't work with mobile data or VPN. Tried T1IP:Y, doesn't work for both inside network or using mobile data or VPN. Tried z.ddns.net:Y, doesn't work for both inside network or using mobile data or VPN. Kind of confused on how to make remote management actually work, would really appreciate if someone could show me the ropes to be able to remotely manage my router.

So I'm trying to port forward my "The Isle" server. However My router asks for more than just the process (TCP-UDP), port number (7777-7778), and IP address that I know. I am also confused about which IP address I use, local or public. I have tried many tutorials but every time I check online to see if the port is open, it says the port is closed. Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have been trying to set up a few different ports to forward through my router (ASUS DSL-A68U latest firmware) However my router keeps reporting the error that my external IP and WAN IP do not match, my ISP has told me I have a static IP and they are right It has stayed the same. Is this something my ISP has to fix? Or can I find somewhere in my router settings to manually assign the matching IP's? I've done a fair bit of research on this to no avail, or I may just be missing something simple. Any help is much appreciated.

So I'm using a H368N ZTEEG04E6R01093 and im trying to block a person in my house on my wifi, because the person is taking up waaay too much bandwith. (and yes i have a password on my wifi, also not a factory one) In the system settings for this router when you type in 192.168.1.1 and log in, you can simply block someone from your net like with other wifis. (This is because my ISP apparently choosed to remove certain features from this router for some reason) I know the method of blocking a network in the basic way, but it seems like when I try to use the "MAC Filtering" it wont work. (My guess for this is that i lack the knowledge of it, however I do understand it, the Filtering proccess for MAC, need a Source mac addres and a Destination address(http://imgur.com/a/7RlaV) and i don't know how to get hand of a Source and Destination address) Then there's IP Filtering. Okay this is something I quite not dosn't understand. (http://imgur.com/a/1S2yZ) I have all kind of ways of obtaining the IPs MACs and so on. This problem isn't like any other problem ive faced before so I need some help with configuring the Blocking proccess. Mainly becuase I don't want to be unable to use my WiFi at all only because one person is taking up all the brandwith. (No it is not possible to get more brandwith and also not faster network since it isn't available where i live)

im using class C ip addresses in the devices of the network.all those devices are connected to switches and these switches are connected to 1 router (R1). R1 is then connects to another router R2 and R2 will be connected to several other routers such as R3,R4,R5 from other networks.i tried sending a ping request from a computer in the network which has the router R1 to a computer in the network that has the router R4. the request failed. then i connected a computer to R1 and tried to ping that from another computer which is connected to R1 through a switch the ping request failed. i think i havent configure R1 and its interfaces properly. this is what i have typed in the cli: Router> Router>enable Router#configure terminal Router(config)#hostname Router0 Router0(config)#interface gigabitEthernet 0/1 Router0(config-if)#ip address 192.168.0.40 255.255.255.192 Router0(config-if)#no shutdown Router0(config-if)#exit Router0(config)#interface gigabitEthernet 0/0 Router0(config-if)#ip address 192.168.1.41 255.255.255.192 Router0(config-if)#no shutdown Router0(config-if)#exit Router0(config)#exit Router0# note: im using cisco packet tracer any suggestions to fix this would be greatly helpful thank you.

Hi All, I wanted to know how I can go about setting a static IP address for my PC that I move around a lot. I would like for it to have a static IP address when it is on my home network but use DHCP everywhere else. I am running Windows 7 and am aware of how to set a static IP through the IPv4 settings within my wireless card, just don't know how to do it without screwing up wireless access on other Wi-Fi access points. I also have another computer running win 10 that I would also like to do this on. If you know of any ways I can achieve this on that PC too I would appreciate it. Thanks,

Hello there, I've got rented dedicated server and was wondering if there's any way to have a virtual machine running on it? I'm getting an IP address from a switch. I've tried using Oracle's Virtual Box & Hyper-V, but no matter what network config I use (internal, bridged, NAT..), my VM can't get an IP address. Suggestions?? (yes I could just but another external IP address, but I'd like to avoid that if possible). Thanks in advance! -kind regards- Gomo

Is FreeNAS dependent on using a strictly static IP address, or can it be used with a dynamic IP address? If it just uses that initial IP address dumped at setup in the command line interface to setup and nothing else, then does it really matter?

Hello all, I have my own domain, and a fast internet connection with a static public IP address. My domain has A-entries in place for WWW and MAIL (mail.mydomain.com) and it has MX records for mail as well. My question is, can I host multiple HTTPS websites on my single IP address? I already have a site with a Let’s Encrypt certificate that works, but when I go to mail.mydomain.com it just takes me to my website. How would I configure my network to take you to the mail site when you go to mail.mydomain.com? The website and mail server website are running on different servers. Any help is appreciated. This stuff is breaking my brain a bit.

I was browsing on my phone through Instagram and one of my friend (his account was hacked) sent me a link to some random website, I was pretty stupid enough to click on that link and now the person who hacked my friend's account has my IP address and he's threatening me about some stupid stuff. I know he can't do much with my IP address (at least I don't think so right??), but I'm just scared that he's going to DoS me and slow my internet down. I was wondering are there anyway to "hide" or even change your IP address? All the videos that I have on youtube are either too old, isn't compatible with my router (I live in the UK, most videos are from the US) or that they just doesn't make sense to me (I am a tech noob). And now here I am trying to find help, perhaps someone can help.

I was recently informed at my institution that network engineers now have the ability to detect the user of a VPN signal. For context, people here are using free vpn apps such as Hexatech to gain access to otherwise blocked websites. Network admin says this is illegal based on their rules. They have said that even on a VPN it is possible for them to identify device details such as a MAC address and then trace it back to the user. Is this possible?

Hello! I've been trying to change the DNS server on my Netgear C6300 router/modem, but it has not been allowing me to do so. I type in the IP's for Norton's Connectsafe public DNS servers, then hit apply. However, It comes up with an error stating "Invalid IP address." I am not exactly sure as to what it means by that- Internet IP Addresses are set to br retrieved dynamically from my ISP. I have tried doing it from different computers, A Wi-Fi connected laptop, and a Ethernet desktop computer. If it helps, the firmware version is V2.01.26. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So when I'm at home and go to the remote access tab on my plex server the red exclamation immediately turns into a green checkmark. For some reason however I have to click on that tab for the outside IP to resolve. I don't know if this is because the public IP provided by my ISP changes every so often? I haven't looked.... If I used the dynamic dns feature built into my modem would that solve my problem? Thanks

So I'm at a loss for what I'm doing wrong here. If I set plex to automatically configure a port it successfully establishes a connection for about an hour and then magically looses it so I decided to manually set up a port..... with no luck I might add. Do I need to set up a Dynamic DNS? I'll include some screenshots. Server has a static IP also
