im on windows 11, front IO randomly stopped working, but earbuds work perfectly fine in the back motherboard IO, I never unplugged them from the front. After I restarted my PC, it just stopped working, any ideas

so i just noticed that my front panel usb wont work when i plug my quest 2 or phone into it, the light on the end of my usb c cable works but nothing else does, the weird thing is that when i plug a usb flashdrive into it it totally works no problem. what can i do to troubleshoot/fix this. if you need it my case is a corsair p4000d and my motherboard is an MSI mag b550 tomahawk

Hey, so recently (after installing my motherboard) I found out I didn't have an IO Shield in the motherboard. Baring in mind, was bought brand new. So I scrummaged through the box and still no sign of one. Now I don't even know the purpose of one - even needed it either. I've looked online and well still hasn't showed me any suggestions of an IO Shield. My motherboard is a B450 AORUS PRO (NOT WIFI). Just wandering what the purpose of one is and if I need one. Thanks! Hi there all :) This is weird, never have I ever heard or seen this issue before. I've upgraded a few days ago to a Ryzen 7 5800X with a B550 AORUS ELITE V2 (rev. 1.0), reason is my old board (with an i7) the RAM-lines died. Only 8GB got detected. But that's not the point. The RAM sticks are 8GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB F4-3200C16D-16GTZR (4x) and all are getting detected. But when all of them are installed sometimes my mouse, keyboard, audio and video sets out for a few seconds. Basically everything that goes in and out the rear of the PC. Front I/O works perfectly fine. I've updated the BIOS, chipset and everything I could imagine. Still happening, but after I removed 2 Sticks everything works fine. I mean there's nothing wrong with that, but I paid money for the RAM and I'd like to use it. What's the problem here? Do I need a complete set of new RAM because perhaps they could be damaged from the old board or has this something to do with the board or the CPU? I appreciate any idea. Thanks!

I have only one rule, I am not interested in the cheapest / cheap equipment to save money for other parts. Assembly budget: PC panel (without GPU) monitor, keyboard + mouse: 2700$ GPU will be something like 6800 or XT, RTX 30xx Ti/super (according to the offer of friends) Mainly playing online Hack & Slah, MMO and occasionally FPS - Insurgency, Battlefield series, single game. I have used Intel processors for years, but I feel that AMD assembly will be a better choice, I will ask you for advice and please state the reason for the change. So I have repeatedly gotten an Io error on my windows system. I cannot do anything as every time I boot it up it simply gives me an io error. The issue is that I don’t have an Io drive connected. The only perhipherals I have connected are mouse and keyboard. So this error makes no sense at all. I have been having problems all day with my system since trying to install a new graphics card. The display works now but I cannot use the system because of this error and it is extremely frustrating.

I have a Lian Li Lancool 205m and it has this cover at the back (blue circle): It can be completely removed, or you can loosen the screw (orange circle) and slide it to the right, then tighten it again. This creates an opening as follows: What's the point of this? I thought it would be for a vertical GPU mount, but the hole seems too small to fit a GPU in, and there's no place for screws to hold the GPU in place. Afaik vertical gpu mounts require like 5 or 6 slots, and this one is only like 4 slots tall.

After NVIDIA RTX IO announcement, several people may think SDD is a MUST for next gen, as PS5 and XBOX X will have one. Is it, or it does not affect much? Gaming using a SSD will impact on time loadings. If we are talking just about gameplay, could we see a real impact versus a HDD on next gen games? Will RTX IO impact as well on gameplay? Exactly how, do anyone know? Real FPS gain because the CPU or RAM is not so stressed or we won't see any change? If we use a HDD we will get less performance? Regarding file speed, I have tried a samsung external SSD 1TB connected via USB - C 3.1 gen 2 USB - C port and I did not see any difference between a 4TB 3.0 USB. (100mb/s data transfer for both). Personally I do not care about this neither load time, just about gameplay. So is worth it?

While I was making homework today my usb-ports stopped working(back motherboard, internal & front io). I've tried basically everything I could find. My mouse its dpi switch still lights up for a split second when I plug it in but after that nothing really happens and it is not detected either. My keyboard is not even lit and doesn't operate either. My usb headset is also not being picked up and neither is my xbox controller. So basically none of my usb ports as far as I know work anymore out of nowhere. I don't remember oc'ing anything and or doing anything that could've possibly caused this. I'm afraid that my mobo just gave up and that I'll have to replace it. If you have any suggestions please leave them down below and thanks in advance!

Hi everyone I hope you all are doing well. So basically I have a problem with my front IO Ports. I just did a fresh Installation of Windows 11. I had Windows 11 on it and everything was working perfectly. So the problem is that my front IO ports (2x USB 3.0) is only working with USB Sticks. Other stuff like Mouse and Keyboards aren't working anymore on my front IO ports. In device manager I did update and reinstalling the drivers but without success. Source: Google I/O Google has officially announced through their Google I/O website, that the annual event is no longer going ahead, citing that the decision was made after local Bay Area counties - in which Google is headquartered in Mountain View, California - ordered residents to stay at home. Google have re-assured us by advising that their attention is solely on the safety of others who were originally going to attend the event, as well as advising that they were working on alternative methods to get their highly-anticipated annual event done this year. It comes as no surprise to me, as Google I/O is an in-person event that is held every year in May, it would have been a serious healthcare concern to the audience and the people involved at Google to have held it when the schedule meets the event. I trust that Google will find a way to showcase their new and upcoming hardware and/or software, as I'm sure many are still interested. In the FAQ section of their Google I/O website, Google has put the nail in the coffin for Google I/O this year: Extremely saddening news, but out of the interest of health and safety of the Google team, Google aren't the bad guys, and I'm sure we can trust them to find other ways of showcasing their new gadgets and gizmos this year.

Hi guys, so i'm actually wondering how i should plug the case's front io ports to. I know that it is like at the bottom right of the motherboard, but how do which connector is for which? I remember some people saying that where the words on the front io ports wires face also matters, can someone help and give me a very specific one, better a picture as my brain cannot process to much of words. the back audio port (the io on the motherboard) is no longer working it will play sound though HDMI and the front case auto port do i need to RMA the motherboard asap or is there something else i can do it was working then i took out the old very bad power supply and put in a EVGA 750 qg gold power supply and the auto no longer works help please

So i started building my pc yesterday but once i came to installing the mobo in the case i gave up. There are some metal things which are meant to be pointing inwards but they basically make it impossible for me to connect the motherboard without breaking it. I am already worried because i have tried several times which means i have touched the mobo quite a few times (mostly on sides though) and because whenever i try to push it to the io shield it makes some slight cracking noises. I managed to connect the mobo once but after screwing it in i realised the metal things from the DVI were pushed outwards covering the port. Now i had to unscrew the whole mobo and am basically stuck without making any progress because im afraid ill break the mobo. PS. Am i allowed to pick up the mobo from my cpu cooler? This could radically change the story driven semi on-the-rails narratives for mobile VR platforms. Even games would benefit from this as interactivity is preserved. Combined with the work that Google is doing with mobile neural nets and Nvidia's Neural Net Raytracing speedup we could be looking at a huge leap in graphical fidelity in mobile platforms. So this is mostly about the wan show, but I have seen several other people also just hate on apple without actually understanding why the macbook pro has (what I would call) the best I/O on a device ever made. 1) First of all, some people said they can't plug their UBS devices into it without an adapter. This is not true. The ports are still USB ports, just with the new C connector. All USB devices can be plugged in without any active adapters. Devices with a removable cable can just have a cable replaced with a USB-C to whatever, instead of the regular USB-A to whatever. Stuff like USB drives with a fixed connector will need an adapter, but in the future all USB devices will use the C connector anyway. 2) They are more than just USB ports. This is a combination of power delivery + USB 3.1 + displayport + hdmi +thunderbolt. THIS is what I call progress. ONE type of connector which can do everything. Why have 10 different types of ports and 10 different types of cables when you can combine them all into one? Having the same cable and connector for all devices will make everything easier in the future. This may seem like a stretch right now, since few devices have USB-C and you have to use USB-C to DP, or USB-C to HDMI, but the only way to switch everything to USB-C is by starting off with a product like this one. It's not hard to imagine 3 years from now where everything is connected using USB-C cables and you don't need to worry about where you left your extra HDMI or whatever. Remember serial cables and printer cables and gameport cables? Well those got replaced by USB-A. Now USB-C will also be replacing power and display cables. 3) USB-C is the BEST connection to support today and in the future. I'm sure everyone can see the billions of devices with USB-A on it, well USB-C is better, and the best way to make it widespread is by forcibly switching to it. Only a handful of PC cases, phones, motherboards, etc. have USB-C. By putting it on what is one of the highest selling laptops in the world, millions more people will begin switching too USB-C. Yes it is forced. In case you haven't noticed, this is the only way to get people to switch quickly, especially with majority of old people who resist change like it's life or death. 4) It might have been sarcasm, but why was @LinusTech complaining about 4 ports being too many?? Hypocritical much? Complain about the macbook not having enough, then 4 is too many? I think 4 is more than enough, considering the daisy chaining capabilities of Thunderbolt 3, which will make it so most of the time you only need 1-2 connectors for everything. 5) @Slick mentioned laptop docks. If you watch the conference, they show that you can easily connect everything that most people need through a single connector. External displays, external storage, power, peripherals, etc.... Nobody needs a laptop dock if you can literally plug in one cable and have everything connected 6) Power can be supplied from any connector or either side. Yes, the magsafe connector is gone, but hey look, more hypocritical people. First complain about apple using proprietary stuff, and when they switch to a global standard like USB, then complain that the proprietary connector is no longer there. Seriously, USB-C is the future whether you like it or not, and it is already becoming popular on phones. Having the same connectivity on a laptop again benefits the "only one type of cable" reason. 7) Progress, again requires the use of a lot of force. More people buying macbook pros = more people using USB-C = more manufacturers adding USB-C to their devices. USB drives, monitors, external storage, peripherals, etc... This benefits EVERYBODY, since we will all be using USB-C in a few years. Again, USB-C is the global standard, not a proprietary macbook connector. It will be on your PC case and you might even have a motherboard with some USB-C already. 8) Please watch the conference or read some articles about the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports before ranting about the macbook pro. USB-C is soon to replace almost every type of port on the back of your PC, and this is a great jump-start to get the industry into production. TL;DR 1) the ports on the macbook are still USB, all you need is a new USB-C cable, no active adapters or stuff 2) they can also do hdmi, thunderbolt, displayport, and power 3) the USB-C connector is the future, and soon everything will use it 4) 4 ports is enough because most of the time you can connect everything through 1-2 with the use of daisy chaining 5) connecting an entire setup by plugging in 1 connector is what people have wanted for decades 6) yes magsafe is gone, but replaced by a non-proprietary global standard, USB-C. You will be able to use the same cable on all your devices, not just apple. 7) forcing people to use USB-C is the fastest way to push the industry into more USB-C on devices/accessories, which benefits everyone, not just apple users 8) hopefully you learnt something today about why USB-C is a great way of pulling the future towards us at an accelerated rate. 9) gnight, I'll reply to everyone tomorrow

I have two nearly full 640 GB hard drives but they are so old that I don't know how to read them on my current rig. I want the data though so I can consolidate and get rid of these old hard drives... What is the 8 pin ( not 8 pin power ) socket on the right side of the hard drive opposite of the sata1 socket? I would like to take care of this sooner than later. Do I need to purchase an external casing and adapter to accomplish retrieving this data, or is there a kind of interface that I need for the 8 pin socket on the hard drive and what is that called?

Hello, a few hours ago my microphone in jack stopped detecting my mic. I've restarted my PC multiple times, and i have tested the microphone on different systems. I have also re-installed and updated my drivers for my mic. Not sure what caused this, it started happening while i was in the middle of talking to my friends. A few days ago my IO completely stopped working, wouldnt detect anything. I restarted a bunch to fix that. Any help appreciated. thanks!

i would like to change the io on my dell optiplex 780 i want to incorporate some toggle switches maybe a key switch and probably a lcd voltage indicator instead of a hdd activity light could also put lcd for power lights too maybe a lcd out of a old music system that shows stuff in bars
