Budget (including currency): DKK 5000 Country: Denmark Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming FPS @1440P I need to upgrade my PC. I'v got an RTX3080 which I'm keeping. I also got 32GB DDR4 3200mhz ram which I could keep. Out is my Asus B450-e Gaming motherboared and the AMD Ryzen 5 2600x CPU. I don't stream or render videos. PC is for browsing and gaming. I usually upgrade MB, CPU & Ram on a different cycle from GPU. So I'm NOT looking for something "upgradeable" along the way. So, do I go for Intel 12/13th gen or Ryzen 5000/7000? I prefer Intel over AMD. Have you recently been in the same situation and what did you choose? Or are you just reallly updated on which is the best choice for me with my use case?

poll Which laptop config should I get?
SomebodyOnceToldMe posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I have laptop options with the following configurations. If you were to choose, which would you buy? -
Hi guys, I am updating my old rig and want to get a new CPU, motherboard and RAM. Parts I will keep 1080p 144mhz screen, GTX 1660 super, case, SSD and Corsair RM 850 power. The budget is £450, USD 625 or CAD 780. I mainly play games like CoD multiplayer, Witcher 3 etc. I don't do anything else on the PC really, just gaming. It would be great to have your input guys. Cheers, Val91.

I'm looking at scratch-building a PC to use at home to study cybersecurity and in the future when I go to college for computer science. I want it to have blazing-fast storage and plenty of RAM so it runs flawlessly for day-to-day use and also so it can handle running Virtual Machines, dual booting with several OS's, and anything else I may want to experiment with. I want to build it now so I can use it the next few months, but it'll be about 2 years before I go to college and start using it heavily, and I might want to upgrade it then if it makes sense. I've got two builds I'm pretty happy with, one AMD and one Intel, both 6 cores/12 threads, and I'm trying to decide between them. The AMD has the potential to add a second PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, and the ability to potentially be upgraded to a Ryzen 9 5950X with 16 cores/32 threads in several years. The Intel is limited to a single PCIe 4.0 SSD, with any additional drives being PCIe 3.0. Additionally, I believe the biggest upgrade it could get would be to an i9-11900K which is only 8 cores/16 threads. It does however have integrated graphics, and I didn't want to buy a graphics card soon because this computer won't primarily be for gaming. Now frankly 1TB of PCIe 4.0 speed storage is proably overkill, and if I did want to upgrade it I could just get a 2 TB stick, so I don't know how important that is. The more important question is how much does the upgrade path matter? Because besides core count I'd rather go with Intel, but AMD having upgrade potential to 16 gives me pause. I've heard more cores matters more for things like productivity, so how useful will 8/12/16 cores really be for running Virtual Machines, DAWs, moving large files or other intensive tasks I might want to do? Advice appreciated. No need to budget for peripherals or monitor or anything. Just looking for the tower here. Suggestions on a decent cooler for overclocking appreciated. ~$100 Also I know nothing about graphics cards, what would be good for this rig? (willing to spend $400-600 when prices are normal again) 1440p & VR would be cool if that's possible. Pretty happy with my builds at this price, but am willing to save more if I'm missing something important. i3 1220P seems to be around the same price as an R5 5500U laptop where I live, which is better? I'll be using it for studying and some light gaming. I already have a monitor that supports freesync and want to make sure the laptop im buying will be able to make use of it. How does adaptive sync work in Intel laptops? It's supported only over DP but laptops only seem to have HDMI ports. Do I just buy an adapter? I know AMD supports freesync over hdmi.

I currently have an i7-8700 CPU in my build paired with an EVGA RTX 3070Ti and an EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P5 PSU. Given the price drop for Ryzen 9 7900X to $439 at Amazon and the 13700K still costing $429, do you recommend upgrading to Intel or to AMD? I'll mostly use it for gaming. I also know I have to factor in the cost of new RAMs if I go for AMD. Another option can be to wait if the costs will go lower next year, but I don't know, so I would like your suggestions. Thanks in advanced!

is there any real difference/performance increase in either or? there about the same cost so it would be interesting to know if its an actual difference or team red vs team blue. usage case : video editing, gaming, heavy cpu usage. if there the same, which is more cost effective ? assuming no overclocking on either.

Hello, Currently, I am looking to upgrade my current PC's specifications so that I can run newer games and games I'm currently playing [eg. Overwatch, Planetside(can't really run this anymore), War Thunder and etc.] So far I have been recommended the following two upgrade paths: due to my very little to no knowledge on CPU's and Motherboards, I have literally no idea which one go for, I would like some help on which one I should choose to upgrade my current PC and any potential changes or other upgrade paths which offer more performance whilst staying within my budget of £150-200. Upgrade Path 1:https://pcpartpicker.com/list/92c7hq Upgrade Path 2:https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/jfmN9W My current PC's Specifications: Motherboard: - ASUS A55BM-E CPU: AMD A8-6600K 3.9 GHZ Quad Core RAM: 8 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 797MHz Graphics: Nvida GTX 1050 OC 2GB PSU: 650V Thanks in advanced.

So, my current rig is as follows: AMD 860k Quad Core cpu Overclocked to 4.0 Ghz) Asus A88x Pro motherboard 16gb PNY Anarchy 1866 MHz ram Msi RX 480 8gb Armor edition Corsair 650w PSU Arctic Freezer rev 7 pro CPU cooler Corsair 200r Case Sandisk 480GB Ultra II SSD So, the big reason I want to upgrade is because my CPU is really bottlenecking my GPU performance, and it's nowhere near good enough to really run premiere and after effects. It will run it, but it makes the timeline terribly jumpy and slow, and the renders take forever. The other reason is that there are a LOT of games that the 860k is just not good enough to get stable framerates out of. So onto the replacement! So far, i've come up with a few different paths I can take for upgrading: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Dcfc7h ~$524 USD AMD Ryzen 1600X Hexacore Processor MSI x370 SLI Plus Am4 Motherboard Cooler Master Hyper T4 CPU cooler Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory OR https://pcpartpicker.com/list/X874Bm ~$488 USD Intel i7 4790K Quad Core processor Asus Z97-A Motherboard (Use current 16gb ram sticks) I can use my own Arctic cpu cooler for Intel cpus OR https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9QcBWX ~$599 USD Inte; i7 7700k Quad Core Asus TUF Z270 Mark 2 Motherboard Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x 8gb 3200MHz dimms I can use my own Arctic cpu cooler for Intel cpus I'm REALLY leaning towards the 1600X or the 4790k, but I figured i'd post it here to find out your opinions!

EDIT: This is the list I'm looking at now, based on the feedback I've received: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Tuffs_/saved/ByFwP6 Hi, just a warning: I have built a computer before, and understand building itself fairly well, but this is the first time I've had to actually pick parts (I've build 2 computers, 1 for a friend, and 1 from a bundle for myself). I am going into my senior year of high school, and I want to use the money I have right now to build a computer that will last me through most, if not all of college. So I've made 2 lists. An Intel list, and an AMD Ryzen list, and I need help deciding, and possibly changing the list/s. I am willing to change anything based on feedback, however, I'd like to keep the motherboard, and case in each at the very least. Also, I am not actually buying the power supply and hard drive in the lists. Those are 2 parts that I am going to reuse from my current computer. The color theme of the computer is White and Blue, and I'd like to keep the total price below $1250-$1300 (USD) if possible. Current PC Specs: -AMD A10-7860K -GIGABYTE F2A78M-HD2 -AMD XFX RX 480 4GB -2 Sticks of 8GB DDR3 HyperX Fury RAM -Rosewill ARC-M650 Intel List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6MVCRG AMD Ryzen List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/v7RHm8 Note: If I go with the AMD list, I might consider not upgrading my graphics card at all, and reusing my current GPU. This would make the computer not as good for as long, but it would hugely cut the price down to $775, however, it could cause a need for an upgrade while I'm at college, which I don't want to do. Thanks for all the help! I'm super excited about making this computer, and I can't wait to hear what advice you guys have for me.

Hey All, after some research I have come to the conclusion that despite the possibility of a minor bottleneck it would suit be better to purchase a GTX 1080 with a lesser CPU rather than a GTX 1070 and a better CPU. the question is do I go for the 8400 or the 1600x? I am looking to preferably have future upgradability (which I'm not sure about with coffee lake) but also great performance currently. with AMD promising AM4 compatibility until 2020 would it be wiser to take the 10ish FPS loss of the 1600x for the promise of future upgradability with Zen+/2 or even Zen 3 in years to come (the extra multi-core performance of Ryzen is of no consequence as I tend to only use my pc for gaming and the occasional bit of school work any help greatly appreciated (also wanted to clarify that I am 14 and getting these parts for my birthday/Christmas so saving more to get the 1080 and a better CPU simply isn't an option)

I'm in the process of building my first Ryzen PC and I will use the same storage I'm using now on my Intel PC. Question is: can I simply smack my storage into the new PC or would I need to format the discs first? I'm using two HDDs in Raid 0 and two SSDs in Raid 0. Thanks!

Ok I was wondering, my pcs are due for an upgrade, disclaimer work pcs. So I have 3 option, upgrade them: 1)Intel again 2)Go for Ryzen 3) Go Apple and regret it. Truth be told I am dying to,make the switch and the WS are, long due for an upgrade, naught them used parts and my own scrap parts 3 years ago. The question is this, without knowing the price of ryzen, how much would you be willing to pay for X99 counterparts for 75-85% lets say of the performance. Just as a reference I need 2 light Ws for sales/ planning and project management stuff, 2 more for Cad design and light bed editing and my own for doing all of the above and some testing regarding business gear and server duties for the Business. What would you be willing to pay???

I have two builds that I am looking into buying my budget is $500. One build is and AMD APU and the other is a intel CPU I will not buy a GPU right away so I have not included this in the parts list. I will mainly be using the PC for light gaming(csgo/gmod) software development and minimal content creation(video editing/recording). please leave any feedback you have. My friend is going to buy a new laptop for coding + gaming (900-910 USD)when I asked which systems are you considering he said only intel and when I asked why he said he did some research on YouTube and AMD is not good for coding ???? Is it true?

Need to buy a Laptop for college, and im unsure what to get. My thought process is that getting a model with a Ryzen 5 will last me longer, and Vega integrated Graphics are way better than intel ones. I will mostly use it to take notes or browse. But id like to be able to play some light games like League of Legends on it from time to time. I dont know if i can trust intel integrated graphics with that. And i dont know how having a deticated GPU will affect battery life if only using light applications like office or a browser. Can anyone recommend something from about 400-700€ For now i would buy hp 255 G7 NOTEBOOK (6UK06ES) wich should be able to run League and has a decent battery. I feel like i could be missing out on some good deals not looking at any intel modes but i dont know what to look for.

I am from india and planning to buy a laptop as there is a sale going on the two biggest marketplace in india namely Amazon annd d Flipkart. I have a budget of around Rs.60,000 (approx 850 USD) and i have around two laptops in mind you can suggest others as well if they are within my budget. 1.Asus TUF with Nvidia 1650ti 4GB Ryzen 5-3550h and a 120Hz refresh rate Monitor Rs.51990(735 USD) 2.Lenovo Legion with Nvidia 1650ti 4GB Intel i5-9300h and a 60Hz refresh rate Monitor Rs.60990(870 USD) The main Argument being what to choose between intel and ryzen as there is a price difference between the two sufficent enough to allow me to instead choice AMD and get some Peripheral. I have to get one of them before the sale is over so consider that as well.

Hi, so I gonna build a system for gaming/editing/livestreaming (mostly the first two) and I can't decide between these two cpu's, would love some advices, btw the edit and render consists of 2 hours max. of content in HD and a smidge of photoshop work too EDIT: My main concern is the rendering speeds, cause in the end both provide a good gaming experiences (If I'm correct)

Stuck with a two option here intel i3 8100 and Amd ryzen 5 1400. They both have 4 cores but ryzen have 8 threads. I am tight on my budget so i3 8100 is in my budget but I can manage to get Amd as well. Is it worth to invest more in ryzen 5?
