Hi, I am planning on buying a laptop and I have 2 CPU/ Processor options, Intel i7- 13620H VS AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS. The graphics card for both of them is same, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 6BG GDDR6. I need help as I am very confused between the two options. I will primarily use it for some daily work and gaming. The price offered to me for both is the same. The laptop brand is Lenovo. Kindly give some suggestions along with a brief reasoning as if you are explaining a fairly new guy to this field. Thanks

Budget (including currency): €500 to €800 Country: Europe Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: DAZ Studio, as a hobbyist Other details: I fairly recently upgraded the power unit, storage and graphics card already. Of real note is only the GPU, which is an nVidia RTX 3050 8GB. Below is a list of components that I'm considering to get for a PC upgrade mainly for a good performance in DAZ Studio. I'm in Europe, but I converted the prices into US Dollar just in case. I'm mainly unsure about whether I absolutely need an i7 and if an nVidia RTX 3050 8GB GDDR6 is enough or if I should get an nVidia RTX 3080 10GB GDDR6X. The cheapest upgrade would cost me around $530, while the most expensive would be $810. DAZ Studio benefits from an Intel CPU, which is why I don't take AMD into consideration. Thank you! CPU: Intel Core i5-13400F $235 or Intel Core i5-13600K $355 or Intel Core i7-13700K $460 [If Intel Core i7] CPU FAN: ENDORFY Fortis 5 Dual Fan $55 Mainboard: GIGABYTE B760 Gaming X $160 RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32GB - DDR5-6000 - CL32-38-38-96 $135

Intel® Xeon® W2175 vs Intel® Core™ i7 8700K
Jones Guldberg posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I currently have two computers. I looked at Ebay for a new cpu for my 2nd pc. I found a Intel® Xeon® W2175 14 cores / 28 threads 2.5GHz - 4.3GHz for 320 dollars ( 2063DKK ) I cant find any benchmarks on the internet and I was wondering if the Xeon is better than my i7 8700k. I think the xeon is matching with a i9 7940x but im not sure. The uprade is mostly for fun but im considering giving my 2nd pc to my 13 y/o little brother. He games alot of CS:GO, GTA 5, FiveM and Fornite. Is the Xeon good for gaming? Is it well optimized? Will it be a good upgrade? I think 320 dollars is cheap for a Cpu like that, especially in Denmark. Hey guys, I bought me a new laptop for college a while ago. I sold my 13" HP ENVY x360 (Ryzen 5 2500U) for a Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gent 2 (i7-1165G7). Key for me was having the flexibility of a convertable/all-arounder with touch integration and a decent graphics perofmance (which the previous Radeon Vega 8 APU certainly did for its price back then). I would have preferred any AMD ThinkPad Yoga but the options im my budget only were 10th and 11th Gen intel, so i went for the 11th Gen (I was really pumped for the Iris Xe graphics). Now to whats bothering me since I got me this (arguably) mess of a system: -WHY is it always running blazing hot?? I know of the efficiency issues and high power consumtions of the past few years. But it gets uncomfortably hot to the touch on my lap, even during simple browsing. -Paired with that: The battery life could be sooo much better on this one. I had to manually throttle the CPU performance to a max of 60% (F*ck me) while not being plugged in to contain the situation. Could you guys help me optimizing temps??

So ive recently reset my computer and after it was done i noticed, all of a sudden my games were running extremly slow. So i tried to figure out, what was wrong with it and after running the UBM (User Bench Mark) i've noticed, that the problem seems to lie within my graphics card wich is not performing at all (0 % living up to expectations). I've never had any problems with running games before. After trying several hours, i am not capable of solving the problem. My setup: NVIDIA Geforce 1080 Intel Core i7-8700 CPU MB: MSI H310M PRO-D (MS-7B33) Windows 10 Geforce Driver Version: 496.49 The benchmark Test: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/47841055 after a second benchmark it was a bit better, but also not great https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/47841890

Hello, this is just a "what if" question. It could happen that I get rtx2080 ti for real cheap(from a trustable source) and a friend of mine has an older pc: I7 4790 and still a gtx970. Now I wonder how the i7 and rtx 2080ti would perform together? Usecases would be gaming and reliable 3d rendering and art work(photoshop etc). I have already found the website https://pc-builds.com/calculator/, but I still want a comment with maybe real experience behind it. I appreciate all the answers I could get. After all its just "what if"

I recently got a 3060, was using a 1660 Super. Now I cannot get full utilization of the GPU, or the CPU, when I am trying to edit and render videos. It took all night to render, and neither the CPU or GPU went over 15%. I use Corel Video Studio Pro 2022, which I recently started using. I used to use Movie Studio, with the 1660, and it always displayed the GPU usage. The new software doesn't. I have the settings in the software set to use the GPU in Corel. It is really frustrating. I know my pc can do better, but it isn't. How do I fix this? I have already went in and changed my 3D settings in the control panel. So a few months ago I did an upgrade on my right and put in an Asus 170z mother board, 16 gb of ddr4 and an i7 (sadly the money ran out then) I was very happy and it is running really well. Then I discovered Linus Tech Tips and other channels on YouTube and got completely addicted to the videos and have decided the next thing I am going to do is water cool my system get a new gpu and play with over clocking. So today I went to ek and started to have a look at what my budget needs to get to, a very happy geek indeed. Then it happened I looked at what was in my system already and I realised that I have an i7 6700 not an i7 6700k. I just didn't know as much when I upgraded as I do now and I am so angry with my past self I want to build a time machine and go back in time to kick my ass. But I can't because I can't overclocking my i7 to speeds needed for the spacetime calculations. Has anyone else made school boy errors wjen building their computers?

Hello people, so i have this Asus Notebook which is called under the model name x550ln and it is somewhat broken. It was abused by a fatal mistake of having it in a bag with an can of monster energy and it poped whole laptop was soked, keep in mind this was last year, it has been in a bath to get the grease off and stickyness. The bath did not help the laptop, by bath i mean like somekind of bath not like water i forgot what its called. but the point is it didnt show any sign of life back then but now, when i plug the charger inn it makes a noise noticeable if you have your head tilted above the processor/gpu area and the processor begins to become very hot, and gpu but nothing else happends, like not even the smal led light bulbs with show power or either the screen. I wondered if anyone has any experience in laptop recovery and has seen this kind of behavior before, i removed the heatsink which had some brown colouring in it so i would guess that is something from the spilling to do with and i cleaned both the brown part and thermal compound. And also the motherboard does not have any sign of shorting, by that i mean visually. I have taken some pictures.

So I've recently upgraded my computer slightly. I moved into a new case and also got rid of my custom loop for an H100i v2. I also switched from 2xGTX 980's to 1xGTX 1080. Same Mobo/Processor/SSD/HHD. I'm running a completely new install of Windows 10 Home and also the other two drives were formatted. So this is a completely clean slate. My Issue(s) Randomly and under load(with prime 95) I get a BSOD or a screen freeze and I get get a clock time error(or something like it) or more often the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. Complete setup: Asus Maximus VI Forumla 16GB Corsair Vengeance i7-4790K(No Overclock) H100i v2 EVGA GTX 1080 Crucial SSD - OS Sandisk SSD - Games HD - Games/Data What I've tried: Running only CPU/Mobo/Ram + OS SSD Different Power Supply Clearing CMOS Default settings for BIOS Windows Memory Diagnostics Intel Processor Diagnostics Temps all appear fine and I'm not getting an error on the board when it freezes or BSODS. I'm still getting the issue randomly and if I try to test and I'm at a real loss as what else to do or where to go.

So first and foremost, i understand that x99 is entirely overkill for gaming. An i5 7600k would be where i would stop if i wanted to game. But aside from fairly heavy gaming (GTA V, Witcher, Ark occasionally) i also do editing on my computer, fairly heavy music recording and editing, and a video here and there. Might pick up on video soon, who knows. In my music editing i usually have pretty complex project files with plenty of plugins, and I'm looking to the future for recording live drums which means recording several tracks at a time.My main question is, is going for even the cheapest x99 worth the extra cost for editing, and would i notice much difference on the gaming scope? Could i negate the differences by overclocking x99?My understanding is that under these circumstances, i would definitely benefit from the x99, but i want to know if its really THAT much better to be worth the cost. Also, someone has suggested Ryzen but I know next to nothing about Ryzen as compared to Intel. I'm not opposed, but I'm a bit biased towards Intel.

Hey! Im wondering whether a i7 or i5 would suit me better, since it would be both for gaming and programming. I program mainly in c#, but games in unity and dont know if a i7 would be overkill, when rendering. Thx in advance!

Hi all, So like many of you on this spread, I am also building a my first PC. I am having some trouble confirming which parts I should go for. I have confirmed that I will be using a Nvidia GTX 1080 founders edition GPU and an Intel i7 6700K CPU but when it comes to everything else I haven't been able to pin down what i should aim to purchase. The following link is my current PC picker build http://pcpartpicker.com/list/QfYK7h. While this will primarily be a gaming rig, I also wish to be able to do elementary game design/development and video capture & editing. My budget excluding peripherals is $1500 USD which I am currently over by about $90 USD with the items I have selected. The annotated list below explains my trepidations. As you can see the current list includes: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/QfYK7h Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/QfYK7h/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($300.00) CPU Cooler: CRYORIG C7 40.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Newegg) I am not sure if this is the best option. While I am not sure if I will be overclocking I would like that to be an option for me so I want an effective cooler but I don't want to overpay. Motherboard: Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($150.99 @ SuperBiiz) Once again, I'm not sure if this is the best option for me. While this is primarily a gaming rig I will also be using the following software: Blender, Python, Unity, Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, State, SPSS, R, SAS. I'd like to know what is the best motherboard for my cpu and which is the best at a $140 USD price range. Memory: Crucial 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($129.98 @ Directron) I probably don't absolutely need 32 gigs of ram but I was drawn at the chance that it could be had at a reasonable price point. The problem is I don't know if the ones selected on my list are quality at that price point. I would rather settle for reliable 16 gig ram than 32 gigs from a unreliable product. Storage: Crucial MX300 275GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($72.99 @ Newegg) Here I just need to know if this is a good choice at this price or can something faster or with greater capacity be purchased for less or even slightly more. Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($48.49 @ OutletPC) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Founders Edition Video Card (Purchased For $608.00) Case: Corsair Carbide 400C ATX Mid Tower Case ($95.00) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($42.33 @ OutletPC) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit ($98.99 @ My Choice Software) Total: $1576.76 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-10-17 02:31 EDT-0400 Wait there's more... I have a separate budget of $220 for peripherals mainly the keyboard and mouse. I have confirmed that I like the blue switches (I think that's what they're called) the best but other than that I have no idea what to buy. If you can address even one of the items presented that would be very helpful, thanks!

I'm putting together a build with a Intel-Core-i7-6700K and a Asus SABERTOOTH Z170 S . I am looking to use a G.Skill Trident Z 32GB 8X4 3600 kit for ram, but am unsure if there will be complications or not. Looking at the Asus QVL(PDF) list, it is not listed. Has anyone used these components together or know if there will be problems? Thanks!

My 6700k get's up to 86C with my grandis XE1236V2 (dual tower air cooler). The temps are fine at the start of a test like the x264 stress test - it get's around 64C max on stock settings (4.2GHz + 1.280 Vcore) but after I play a game like GTAV or The Witcher 3 it sky rockets to 80+C on 3 of the cores. WIth an overclock it get's up to 89C easily and has even gotten up to 92C which was then followed up by a system crash. What I have tried: -Resetting thermal paste 5 times (Not putting to much and not putting too little, just enough to cover 90% of the CPU in a circle shape - I used the pea method) -Resetting CPU and the whole cooler again -Set all fans to 100% -Opening my case up to simulate an open-air test bench -Made sure the cooler was secured as tightly as possible Nothing seems to work. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

So, my friend came up to me and said, "Hey can you check this PC out? Is it good? Should I change it and whatnot." So I took a look at it and the price was just out of hand. so I said, "I'll build you a cheaper and good PC which is about $2,000 cheaper than the one he made. You can go take a look at his build here https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YMRrpb, you can also see the incompatability message there. Anyways, I built him a PC which I previously said $2,000 cheaper than the one he made. So I'll just lift off the parts for the one I built.
