iMac will hang intermittently during boot up. When system hangs it will hang for about 60sec. Once it does boot the Bluetooth symbol will have a diagonal line through it. Note the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard still work. If you click the icon the system will lock up. The OS is macMonterey Version 12.1

So I have an intel core i7-3770 in a dell optiplex 3010, and I was wondering how I could change it's turbo since it only boosted to 3.9 ghz for a second. So I installed Intel Extreme Tuning Utility 6.5.1.321 to see if I could change the turbo boost time, and the Turbo Boost Power Time windows is grayed out so I can't edit it, and it's set to 1 second. Is there any way I can change this?

I just got myself a new but used pc, it has a Core i7-3770 @3.40 GHz, Socket LGA 1155 on a Asus P8H77 M-Pro. The cooler is slightly broken and the plastic pins at the bottom have snapped off and won’t hold the cooler in place, there for disabling me from being able to run games, stress tests and so on without the fan ramping up to 100% and my cpu benign at 100° due to it, so I was wondering if you guys knew any coolers that would go well with it? I have one but I’m not sure and I don’t wanna buy something I can’t use link to cooler I think would fit: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B06X9Q1K88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xE5LFbYRKM4NT

Hi, I am planning on building a PC with the Intel Core i7 6800K and the Asus X99 Deluxe II motherboard. I want to overclock the CPU, but I don't know what speed I should go for. Is there anyone who has a 6800K and has overclocked it? If so, can you tell me to what speed you did overclock it to or what you would recommend. I've seen people overclock it to 4.0 GHz and 4.4 GHz but I'm not sure what I should do.

Hi LTT community! I am looking to build a dedicated server to host a couple of game servers, probably something around the lines of: 1 vanilla or modded Minecraft server || Player count: 6-10 1-2 Garry's Mod servers || Player count: 8-12 combined 1-2 Zandronum servers (classic DOOM online) || Player count: 8-20 combined (NOTE: the least CPU-intensive server of the three) If possible I'd like to keep the build small, low-power and low-noise (to the extent possible), but since I at the same time want to have decent performance I have been looking at various options for either/or. Right now I'm deciding between the following: An Intel NUC Bean Canyon with an i5-8259U CPU (4 cores, 8 threads @ 2.3 GHz) -- A small, low-power and low-noise choice. An Intel NUC Bean Canyon with an i7-8559U CPU (4 cores, 8 threads @ 2.7 GHz) -- Another small, low-power and low-noise choice. A custom build with a Ryzen 5 3600 (6 cores, 12 threads @ 3.6 GHz) -- The good performance choice. Someone said that for most game servers, having a CPU with good Single Thread Performance is important. I get that, so I started comparing the three. The Ryzen is of course superior in every way (links below), so my question to you is: Is the Bean Canyon with an i5-8259U / i7-8559U enough, or should I go for a custom build with a Ryzen 5 3600? Additional information: Planned OS: Some kind of Linux distribution, 64-bit. Planned RAM: DDR4 16-32 GB Planned storage: 240 GB SSD (for now) Budget: $650-$750 Planned uptime: 24/7 CPU Comparisons: Comparison of all three: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-3600-vs-Intel-i5-8259U-vs-Intel-i7-8559U/3481vs3299vs3302 i5-8259U vs I7-8559U: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-8259U-vs-Intel-Core-i7-8559U/m543736vsm543591 i5-8259U vs Ryzen 5 3600: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-8259U-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-3600/m543736vs4040 i7-8559U vs Ryzen 5 3600: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-8559U-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-3600/m543591vs4040 As seen in the first link, the i7-8559U and the Ryzen 5 3600 has quite similar single thread performance.

Ok LTT forum members. I need some combined brain power to help me come to a conclusion on a CPU and GPU issue i'm having with my Asus ROG Strix Scar Edition laptop. The specs of the laptop are as follows: 1. Intel Core i7 8750H CPU 2. GTX 1050 Ti 4gb 3. 32gb Samsung 2666Mhz PC4-21300 RAM 4. Sabrent 1tb PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD (main OS drive) 5. Crucial CT1050 MX300 1tb SSD (Storage Drive) OK so I purchased the laptop brand new from Xotic PC a few months ago with a few pre-selected upgrades. I chose a RAM upgrade from 16gb-32gb and a drive upgrade from a standard 256gb SSD to a 256gb NVMe ssd. In their listing they say that the box will arrive opened because any laptop ordered with custom upgrades has to be opened, upgraded, and tested. Ok no big deal. It was actually cheaper to go this route than buying the components myself. Even though I knew I was gonna upgrade the drives as soon as I got it! . From day 1 the CPU ran a little warm. The first thing i do with a new system is throw HWINFO64, AIDA64 Extreme, and CPUID, etc... on it as i'm sure everyone on this forum does! SO, right off the bat I noticed that the CPU temps at idle were about 50-55c and under AIDA64 Stress test load the temps ran mid 80's and the fans were full blast. Eventually the temps under load climbed to 95c!! Way to high for my liking! I just figured that since it was a laptop and as with MOST laptops the cooling solution wasn't all that great so it just ran a little warm. However I was excited to crack this bad boy open and check out the cooling solution and upgrade the thermal paste and pads while I was at it! I mean come on, everyone rips apart their new laptops the day they get them right! I have a habit of ripping everything apart as soon as I get it in my hands! I mean why not right! Ok, so the cooling solution actually didn't look half bad! It had nice beefy heatpipes, fairly thick copper plates (about 1.5mm) and what appeared to be maybe Arctic 1mm thermal pads. So I noticed pretty quick that the stock thermal paste looked like crap! It was runny looking and just all around terrible as seen in the pics. So I quickly noticed that it looked like there were "scuff" marks on the CPU and heatsink! I'm like no freakin way! I noticed that the GPU had similar marks however when I looked at it closer after cleaning the old thermal paste off I noticed that some of the text from the GPU is actually burned or embedded into the heatsink! You'll notice that in the pic of the cleaned heatsink for the GPU you can clearly see the text from the GPU die BURNED into the copper! The scuff mark looking marks on the CPU and GPU die are smooth as glass so they aren't scuff marks! A scuff mark would imply that the surface was scratched therefore leaving a rough surface and I ran my fingernail over it and it's smooth as butter. So I reached out to the seller Xotic PC and told them what was happening and sent them 50 pics and everything and they assured me that their techs said that my CPU and GPU didn't have burn marks but didnt offer up what they thought the parks were and that my temps were fine! ? Ummmmm really! 95c is fine! And the huge scuff/burn marks are normal? I'm sorry but in the 18 years i've been building and ripping computers apart i've never seen this! I've overclocked CPU's and GPU's and certainly trashed my fair share of components but i've never seen die's look like this! I searched google for pics of CPU's with similar issues and found nothing! So I figured if I want any chance at getting an answer I need to turn to the community! Hoping someone out there knows exactly what these marks are with certainty! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone for your help in advance!! Oh and just a FYI, I did replace the thermal paste with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads. This did bring the temps down some and the CPU is not hitting 90's as of yet! But it's back to running mid 80's under load. I'm just fairly certain that the CPU die is burned/damaged!

I just got the 8700k and started overclocking. I know that poeple gets to 5 ghz without much trouble, so I overclocked mine to 4.9ghz, but the temps are a bit too high, i think. My temps were 99 to 100 degrees on all cores on average, and im cooling with a corsair h100i v2. Does anyone know if these temps are normal?

Here's my laptop asus FX 503 VD, a core I7-7700HQ pairs with a GTX 1060 6gb. When I play games like competitive game, my CPU suffer from thermal throttling (90 degree Celsius) when I set my power option to high performance while my GPU is only at 70 degree Celsius average and max is like 75 although I set the fan mode to overboost this doesn't help much, can I get some opinion or help?

I'm upgrading my pc from my really old rig that sports such amasing specs such as the extreme intel core 2quad and has a copious 6gb of ddr2 ram. I already upgraded my graphics card last year from, well nothing at all to a gtx 960 2gb strix from asus. I'm planning to buy the parts in early august this year so I have plenty of time to discuss and rethink. My plan right now is to build pc with a theme around white and black with blue LEDs but this can of course change The goal is to build a nice looking pc with the ability to play pretty much every game at decent fps. My budget is around 1200usd and that budget is for the parts of the pc excluding the graphics card because i allready have it and think it works good enough. The components and why i chose them specificly: The case: I chose the cooler master storm scout 2 advanced ghost edition because I'ts got a white and black colour theme and has handles so that I can move it around easily. Some things that i dont like about it is that it doesn't support dual radiator watercooling without mounting either the fans or the radiator om the outside and that's just not an option for me. Price:133usd Cpu: I have picked the Intel i7 6700k because I wont have to upgrade it in a long time and if it comes down to it I can overclock it. Price: 421usd Cpu cooler: The cooler i picked is the cooler master hyper 212 evo cooler and I chose it because it was cheap and I wont overclock the cpu and if i decide to do so in a couple of years I can buy a better one. A thing that really puts me of is that it really doesn't fit with the theme at all and I would really appreciate suggestions on a cooler with fitting colours Price:39usd motherboard: I have chosen the MSI KRAIT gaming 3X motherboard because it supports LGA1151 socket and DDR4 ram another reason is that it looks really nice with it's black and white colour sceme. Price:177usd RAM: I chose two sticks of crucial balistix sport ddr4 2400ghz 8gb. I chose these because I don't really need more than 16gb of ram and these ones were white fitting right in to my theme. Price:111usd (gpu: I'm going to use my "old" asus gtx 960strix because I allready have it. It doesn't really stick out to much with its own black and red theme but I am going to paint it white with plastidip spray paint. Price 233usd) PSU: i have chosen the seasonic M12II-620 EVO FDB Because it's modular and looks nice. It's 620w gives me some breathing room to upgrade my gpu to something like a gtx 980 ti in a year or two Price: 111usd Fans: I am going to buy two of corsairs 120mm quiet edition fans woth blue LEDs to complememt the two existing ones that is already included in the case. price: 16usd *2 Storage: I alreaddy have a 1tb drive of seagate 7200rpm and s 128gb ssd from intenso Total cost: 1024 usd I'm happy to discuss about the parts or just the build at whole. The part I am most unsure of is the hyper evo 212. people seem to want me to change the case but they are all sating different things so i made a straw poll to pick the case that fits the build the best. http://strawpoll.me/7022624

Problem: After starting up my new Rig, my mobo's CPU, GPU, and Boot LED won't start. The standby power and RAM LED's are lit. My CPU LED turns on for 1 second when I start up my computer and then turns off. All the fans and other LEDs are running fine. Things I tried: unplugging the mobo battery for 10 min. disconnecting the GPU checking all the PSU cables Specs: CPU- Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor GPU- EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Mobo- Asus Z170I PRO GAMING Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard RAM- G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory CPU cooler- Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler PSU- EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Note: I did some research and saw some people were having similar problems with the mobo I'm using, but none exactly like mine.

I can't find anything online about this subject. I also understand that this is a mostly Windows site but I thought I might ask since its a hardware thing. Is it possible to put a i7-4930K processor in a Mac Pro late 2013? (Yes I know the trash can.) It has all the same specs (LGA-2011, 40 PCIe lanes, PCIe 3.0, 22nm, TDP 130W, even the same release date) that come with the Mac Pro but is just labeled as an i7. The only topic I saw was with the older Mac Pro towers is that the firmware needs to be updated. If thats the case then where would I find such a thing? I have seen almost every hacintosh builds only use an i7 over xeon's because of the cost. I'm new to the insides of computers so any info will help! I have been watching a lot of Linus' videos on PC's and am trying to understand more of the guts of a computer then the software. Thanks, Matt

Hi folks! I recently upgraded to a Sapphire R9 380 Nitro 4GB, and I love it! I was planning to add another one later to run in Crossfire but I need a good motherboard to go with it. So far, I have laid my eyes on the MSI H97 Gaming 3 Motherboard: http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/MSI-H97-GAMING-3-Intel-H97-So-1150-Dual-Channel-DDR3-ATX-Retail_961270.html My Processor is a Core I7 4790 (non-k) and should perfectly go with it. I need suggestions on which Motherboard would be great for a Crossfire of r9 380 Nitros. Thank you.

I want to overclock my intel core i7 4790K processor. I use a GB Z97 Overclocking supported motherboard and a dual tower heat sink and enough cooler fans to cool my case. I already referred a LTT guide video and the voltage optimization part is little blurry for me... Can some one explain it !!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBfXruwe8w4 Thank You...

I am buying a new pc. Is it worth to spend 150$ more on skylake i7 6700k package(MBO+RAM+CPU) than to go with i7 4790K for 130-150$ less?? That are the price situations here in Europe. We already pay premium for PC hardware, and can someone consider is it worth to spend more if I am using my pc for gaming with gtx 980? Haswell-E is 60-80$ cheaper , and also motherboards are bit cheaper(nothing much but another 30-40$ means to me since I am already crosing my desired budget), and you know DDR4 is more expensive. So my question is, will it be a good step to save another 150$ in month and go with skylake or simply stick with my 4790k plan. How much performance can i expect from skylake(note that skylake motherboard i am planing to use is more expensive, but the same class as the z97 motherboard from same company.) Somebody please help decide.

Hey Guys, I've recently made a new thread about the components of my new PC, and I am quite satisfied. The only thing that I'm still not so sure about is the cooling. I want to stay away from water-cooling because well, it's a little risky and since I will probably be switching out some stuff once a year or so, I want to avoid the hassle of constantly dismantling the water cooling system. Here are my specifications for the build: Case: Corsair 350D Black w/ Window Motherboard: Evga X99 Micro Processor: Intel Core i7 5960x Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws4 DDR4 4X8GB 2666MHz CL15 Black Graphics Card: EVGA Geforce GTX Titan X ( x2 in SLI ) Storage: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD + WD Black 4TB HDD Power Supply: Corsair 1200w Professional Platinum --------------------------------------------------------- Cooling: * Now, I'm not sure should I go for a closed loop liquid cooler or an air cooler, so this is the main reason I posted on this thread. If possible, I would want this build to be as silent as possible, and the temps to stick around 70-80 degrees celsius at full load for the GPU & CPU. Fans: Corsair AF120 x3 + Corsair AF140 x2 *2 of the 3 AF120's would replace the fans on the liquid cooler Liquid Cooler for CPU: Corsair H100i OR H105 Air Heatsink for CPU: Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3 ( The 2 AF120's would replace the fans on this) ------------------------------------------------------- Peripherals: I'm open to suggestions, but here is what I'm going for now: Monitor(s): 2x Asus PA328Q 4K 32" Monitors Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Chroma Mouse: Razer Ouroboros OR Logitech Performance MX ------------------------------------------------ Like I said, my main concern is the cooling and if anyone would be oh so helpful and advise me on how to keep the computer at 27-35 DB while using it. If anyone was wondering, these are the programs I would be using: Photoshop CC Premiere Pro CC Media Encoder CC I would be also playing video games , most likely triple AAA titles, for example Bioshock Infinite, the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight and many more. Please leave suggestions below, and follow if you are interested .

Hey guys, so I'm currently planning a build for video editing and gaming. After about a month or so of research and looking around, I've decided to this build, my only questions are about the power supply and cooling - is there enough watts? Is the cooling going to keep the components at normal temperatures while on load (70-85 degrees celsius). I'm also debating between two cases. Here's the components list: Asus X99 Deluxe Intel Core i7 5960x G.SKILL Ripjaws4 DDR4 4x 8GB 2666MHz CL15 Black NZXT H440 Black & Blue OR Fractal Design R5 Titanium with Window Corsair Hydro Series H110 OR H100i Corsair SP120 Twin Pack ( x 2 ) Corsair 1200W Professional Platinum Samsung 850 Pro 1TB WD Black 2TB ( x2) Asus Geforce GTX Titan X 12GB ( x2 SLI) Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit ------------------------------------ I'm decided on the graphics card, processor, memory, ssd, storage, sofware, but I'm not sure about the fans, cooling and PSU. It would be very nice if somebody could help me out with the PSU and cooling.
