I was given an IBM X3650 M3. I am unable to get any operating system to work on it. I am now just trying to get windows 10 on it. I know that this is stupid and not using the machine to its full potential and thats ok. I get into the windows 10 installer but it does not recognize my drive. The sas backplane is hooked up to an LSI raid card. I have read that I need to load the drivers to a usb. When I do this and select the flash drive under load drivers in installation, it is unable to find any drivers. Please help. What am I doing wrong?

I have been trying to install the .NET Framework 3.5 for months now, nothing I seem to do will fix it. Reinstalling windows is currently not an option right now for many reasons that would take double the length of this post to explain. Whenever I try to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 from either the offline installer offered from Microsoft or through programs and features, or even DISM, it will always error out. I have changed the group policy for "Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair", I have done SFC /SCANNOW, DISM restorehealth, nothing seems to install .NET 3.5. The error code I get in Windows Features is "Catastrophic failure Error code 0x8000FFFF" The NetFxRepairTool offered by Microsoft was unable to determine what the issue was. If I run DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All from an admin command prompt, it tells me: Error: 0x8000ffff DISM failed. No operation was performed. For more information, review the log file. The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log I am using a local Windows account that was tied to an online account after initial setup, running Windows 10 Pro 22H2 build 19045.3516 on a Dell Latitude 5520 BIOS version 1.31.0. If anyone needs the DISM log I posted it as an attachment. dism.log

So… since I got a new PC (which doesn‘t have an M.2 slot), I simply went ahead, formatted the 2.5'' SSD, which came originally in my Laptop and the M.2 I installed in it afterwards. Everything seemed normal at first, when I checked in the BIOS which drives I can have as boot-drives, but when I tried to install Windows on the M.2 and it went to the part of the first restart, it didn‘t see my M.2 as a viable boot-drive anymore, though it is still listed in the BIOS. I did mess around with some BIOS settings to try and fix the problem that way (since I also had to do this to make it boot off the installation stick for whatever reason), but quickly reset it to factory after none of my tries worked out.

Hi, My hdd (with os) died recently so I bought a new better m.2 ssd. Went and put windows on it and it just wont boot off it. Tried all the YouTube videos I could find but nothing worked, at the end I am still stuck with the error: select proper boot device Says in bios its a hard disk??? it is not broken it shows in bios i can see it in the boot priorities it just wont work help :.)

I just installed my Ryzen 7 5700X and after booting, it said something about Tpm, so I clicked Y to reset it. It seems to be working fine, but my Ethernet stopped working and my cpu fans are constantly spinning on my aio (spinning fast). How do I fix this? Are they’re any drivers I need to install? Do I maybe need to add more thermal paste?

I’m about to install my Corsair RM750X power supply but I am not sure which way I should install it in. Should I install it with the fan facing out or towards the air cooler? pictures of the system, the psu orientation and the backplate are provided. It seems to only fit properly (screw holes) with the fan facing the cooler.

PSU installation Help! (RM750X) Is this normal? Is it safe?
Tharoon posted a topic in Power Supplies
I am trying to install my new Corsair RM750X power supply and noticed some black stuff on the cables, is that normal? My old power supply doesn’t have any of that black gunk on it. Should I be concerned? Or is it fine? -

Hello! My name is Kevin, I am having a problem with my computer, more specifically installing a new windows to my SSD... Explanation So I obviously wanted to get windows on my new SSD as everyone else does and decided to give it a shot. To begin with i also have 1 1TB HDD with all my games, videos, photos, and a copy of windows ( the copy i used before hand always ) I got my 500GB SSD, plugged it in, and I began downloading a windows installation media creation tool thingy. I had made sure my USB was Fat32, and it was cleaned before i had put everything on it. Watching a tutorial meanwhile of course, (I still have both my SSD and HDD plugged in while i try using the USB) I restart my computer, and go into the windows setup and such, and fiddled around with the drives and partitions like they had done on the tutorial and it didn’t work. I believe it was just done installing windows, it would go to restart and instead of booting windows it would boot the media creation tool again... repeatedly. (I have literally seen the same screen over 100 times in the past 3 days) I had tried searching things up about errors i had gotten some like “0xc00000e” “0xc00000f” “Your Pc needs to be repaired” “Restart and select proper boot device” And some other things, tried using people’s “fixes” to fix my issues but that had not worked. So here I am on LTT explaining myself, hoping someone can help me. My parts Msi b360m pro vh Msi radeon rx570 oc i7-9700k h100x corsair cooler 8GBx2 Patriot viper ddr4 thermaltake smart600w seagate barracuda 1TB HDD wd black sn750 500GB SSD Any help will be appreciated, please ask any questions!

Following Andy's instructions I managed to get until 6:17. Apparently in the BIOS PopOS should be a selectable boot option, not for me tho. PC is a Dell Optiplex 755. Runs a Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 that was meant to run Windows XP hence why I'm trying to install Linux. Currently I still have the boot usb plugged in and whenever I turn on the PC it keeps going into the Live Environment to install PopOS. The thing is, after the first install, I had a third option asking if I wanted to "refresh my install", which shows that PopOS is installed but I can't boot into it when I remove the boot USB. Pls help

So somehow I accidentally installed plex media server twice on my Linux pc (as you can see in the screenshot, don't mind the third one this is my old server) so only one of them is able to run. Every time that i restart the pc it starts one of the two installations but it's pretty much random. Right now the correct installation is running but I have no clue how I can find where the second one is installed so I can remove it. Thanks in advance

Uhm.... Great! Windows 11 installation IS weird. [TL;DR: Windows Installation Error. The installer succeeds but then boots right back into windows 10 with this error: 0xC19001 - 0x20017.] So today (and yesterday) I had tried to install windows 11 with a genuine ISO downloaded through an installer script from UUPDump I extract the ISO and place it in a folder in my C:(no particular reason for that), then I run the setup.exe. The installer opens, checks for updates, and then shows a blue screen with "Installing Windows" and the progress bar. When it reaches to a 100%, it reboots as it should and the loads me back to my windows 10 and when I sign back in, the following error shows up(also attached in the screenshot): I have checked in other forums too but all seem to suggest the same things which don't work. I have Kaspersky AV which I uninstalled before win11 installation. Yes I have firmware TPM enabled and Secure boot selected to "Other OS" (because when it's selected to "windows" the installer doesn't like to start). I also have enough drive space in my NVME boot drive (34GB approx). I also don't think that my drivers are interfering the process, although I'm not sure. I have also attached the "setuperr.log" file which I have retrieved from "C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\" Thank you for reading. setuperr.log

Windows 11 has generated a lot of buzz, but not all of it has been positive. Many people think they’ll be left behind, but is that really true? Windows 11: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/windows-11 UUPDump: https://uupdump.net/

Hi folks, I was dusting off my old PC in need of some TLC. I upgraded some hardware and bought a brand new Samsung 850 500gb SSD. There's two things I don't mess around with buying used: PSU's and hard drives... So after creating a boot device on a USB drive by putting the official Win10 installer on it, I disconnected all drives and unnecessary USB peripherals and booted from the USB. So far no issues, I go through the setup, create new partitions for the new SSD (it does show up, both in BIOS and in the installer), it seems to successfully install. To finish the setup, the system reboots, but automatically reboots into the USB boot device. I thought to mitigate this by either A. removing the USB before it reboots or B., selecting the SSD as the primary boot option in the BIOS. Doing so however prompts the message "Select proper boot device" upon start up (when trying to boot from the SSD). It seems to be a more frequently occurring issue, I have Googled many forums, but I haven't found a solution that works for me yet (hence I am posting it again here, despite it maybe having been posted before, my apologies). I am getting more into PC's and PC building but on the technical front I am still very much a novice, so please go easy on me. EDIT: The problem appear to be that, although the SSD is recognised by the BIOS, it isn't listed as 'UEFI'? I seem to read that in order to boot from a hard drive it is required to be a UEFI drive? How do I set this up? My super modern system: Mobo: MSI H61I-E35 V2/W8 CPU: Core i5-3550 GPU: Radeon HD7850 RAM: 2x4gb 1333mhz SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500gb (brand new) PSU: EVGA 500W2 (brand new) Any help is appreciated! Cheers, TJ

But after the USB loads, installs, and restarts the PC. It boots to either the "Reboot and Select Tab", UFEI SHELL, or BIOS. I been at this for hours trying different USB installations such as: ISO + Refus on a USB and letting the Windows Creation Tool create the USB. Help,

I'm in the process of building new house. Plans are being finalized with the builder, but as a self-identified tech junkie I can't help but wonder what preparations I would need for the builder to ensure my house is fiber-ready. We've already established where the majority of the networking will be located. Will be wiring the house with Cat6a to help futureproof for 10G networking. The question really lies on what wiring/hardware would I need installed between the modem (or I guess what is actually an ONT?) to where the service line terminates from the ISP. Currently, I don't know much about fiber connections simply because I've always used cable internet. What I do know is that the last time I needed service from a different provider that they ran cables from the back of my house to the front, drilled a hole in the brick, which entered into a closet, and another hole on the other side of this closet to finally terminate to a wall plate. This is the reason I am wanting to be proactive and get some advice to prevent this kind of hack job this time around. So, is there anything I can do ahead of time to allow an ISP the ability to easily set up fiber internet without a ugly cable nightmare?

Greetings all! I just had a general inquiry. So I decided to go ahead with the new z490 chipset and a i9-10th gen comet lake CPU. The question that is been weighing on my mind is when swapping out my old MOBO and CPU will I have to rigorously go through the BIOS and set the clock speeds a voltages? I'll post my current build specs so whom ever decides to come across this post and give their two cents. I'd greatly appreciate it! Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3601 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s) BaseBoard Manufacturer ASRock BaseBoard Product Z390 Phantom Gaming SLI/ac NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti OC 11 DDRG6 SLI Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Memory Module - 16GB, DDR4, PC4-21300 2666MHz, 16-18-18, UDIMM 288-Pin, Unbuffered, Non-ECC, 1.2V - BLS16G4D26BFSE 32GB OS WIndows 10 64 Bit With that being said. I went ahead and purchased a ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XII HERO (WI-FI) LGA 1200 (Intel 10th Gen) Intel Z490 (WiFi 6) SATA 6Gb/s ATX Intel Motherboard (14+2 Power Stages, DDR4 4800+, 5Gbps LAN, Intel LAN, Bluetooth v5.1, Triple M.2, Aura Sync) as well as Intel Core i9-10900K 10-Core 3.7 GHz LGA 1200 125W BX8070110900K Desktop Processor Intel UHD Graphics 630. Now the question is all about setting this up without the frustration and headaches... I could honestly use some opinions as well as tips if possible. Thank you!

Hello LTT Forum, First post here, hope you guys can welcome me to your community! I'm planning out the parts for my new build, my first build (for myself, second in total, made one a few years back for a cousin). I want to dive head in into customization, and I want to add 3 A-RGB fans, an A-RGB water block, and an A-RGB pump/res combo. The 3 fans are 2 from SilverStone and 1 from CoolerMaster, the pump/res combo, as well as the CPU block are from Alphacool. My motherboard is going to be either the Gigabyte Arorus b450i, or b550i (perhaps an x570i if I happen to find a used one at a good price). All 3 of these boards come with a single A-RGB header (at least the b boards do, not sure if the x has two, but I doubt it). What I want to know, is how can I best, and most affordably, connect those 5 A-RGB devices to my mobo's header? Can I just buy a 5 way splitter (plus any necessary adapters in terms of compatibility, which I think I don't need), and just hook them up to with with Gigabyte's RGB Fusion Software? Can the software an Mobo header differentiate between the 5 different devices, or would it just register as a single A-RGB strip of x length? I consider myself to be quite savvy in terms of computer expertise, but even if I know a bit about the current state of A-RGB/RGB devices, I just haven't had the experience, either directly or with a video, of how to make everything work together seamlessly; all while having just a single A-RGB header, as well as a limited amount of LEDs per header. Can you guys please tell my what I should do? Should I just bite the bullet and buy an A-RGB controlled, and let the PC handle them through their approximate software, or should I just go YOLO and install all daisy with the 5-way splitter strait into the mob. Thanks from a curious/anxious nerd -Scott

I’ve filled up the remaining ram slot I wasn’t using with more ram and bought a wifi card and installed it on a pcie x1 port. When installing it made a harsh, grind noise like sand. I suppose it was hard particles of dust since I never used those ports since I got the motherboard (5 years ago). Everything seems to be working fine but since there’s a chance that those particles are still inside the slots, will they cause any sort of insulation o overheat issues (that could result in burns ) while current goes through the connection? P.D: I cleaned the slots with two short bursts of canned air before installing but It looks like some particles stayed.

I bought a lot of upgrades for my computer and I got everything assembled but I get stuck on "No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers...." I have tried both Windows 10 and Windows 11 with same results. I have tried I think about ever different driver I can find on the motherboards website. Especially the chipset drivers. https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b660-f-gaming-wifi-model/helpdesk_download I'm using a USB stick to boot the windows installation from. I have tried both motherboard and case USB slots. I have tried turning off and on different BIOSs settings to see if it could change anything, but it has not yet still. I have tried for many hours to try find what is wrong, but I have not found a solution so far while searching for answers. I was really looking forward to use this new hardware and not spend my entire day trying to get it going.
