I've never seen this odd behavior in my life. Please help me. I believe this is related to the core issue of the problem. Let me set the scene: newly built PC, fresh install of Windows 10 with only the necessary drivers for the motherboard installed. I open up Edge to get the installer for the Discord application and go onto Nvidia's website to get the newest drivers for my graphics card. I'm sitting here with fresh Windows 10, nothing installed, just a blank desktop with just two installers, Discord and Nvidia. I click on the Discord installer and it crashes with some Java error. Okay, fine, I think, it's a fresh install of Windows. I restart the computer and try again, but the Discord application installer crashes once more. Odd. I try again and it crashes again. So, I try the Nvidia installer, which loads up to 28 percent and crashes with some 7Zip CRC Error. I think, okay, really fun and great. I decide to look up the error but find nothing very helpful, and I don't follow anyone's advice. I decide in that moment, 'I WILL INSTALL THIS.' For the next 20-30 minutes, I click on the installer and it crashes every time. But, someone one time said something about not giving up, so I just keep clicking. I click one last time, get up, and run around my house like a buffoon. When I come back to my computer later, the install has worked. I'm shocked. I ended up doing a similar thing for Discord, and the application eventually installed. I don't know what the heck is going on with this computer, but I really hope someone has a good reason for why that worked, even though it really didn't. I may have installed the drivers and Nvidia and Discord, and even a game eventually, but the game and Discord crash after opening. Discord opens for 2 minutes, then crashes, same with the game. So, I may have won and installed them, but they don't work. Please help, this is too odd for me. Hi, my PC has just gotten a storage upgrade, getting 2 new 4tb HDD and a Samsung 870 QVO 4tb SSD as a boot drive. Computer was getting slow so full reset and fresh windows install. Both HDD have installed correctly and been partitioned but during the installation process, windows partitioned half the SSD to the OS and now the windows 'Extend Volume Wizard' won't let me allocate or use the remaining 2 tb. Any solutions or ideas

Specs: XPS 17 9700, Intel i7-10875h @2.30GHz , Window 11, OS Build 22621.2506 Hi folks, Im having a issue with my computer. It blue screens with the stope code: VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR sometimes at random intervals but most frequently it happens if the computer falls into rest for any period of time or 9 out of 10 times from start up after being properly shut down previously. I have gone through a number of trouble shooting possibilities such as disabling windows modern standby (see LTT video is where I got my Instructions of how.) but that prevented some parts of updates installing. I also did multiple fresh instales of windows to see if I could clear the issue but It still had no effect. Would any of you lovely folk have an idea of what is going on or has anyone else come across the same issue?

I have built a new pc. And I got a couple of weird errors. A few weeks ago I basically was able to install windows but constantly got bsods. Now I tried to troubleshoot that but it somehow got worse. What we did until now was: Swap out the MB Swap out the ram Swap out the SSD Swap out the installation stick Tried without gpu(used internal gpu in cpu instead) The specs of the pc are: 7700x 3070ti Asus ruf b650 Samsung ssd( not sure which one rn) The first image shows the error we have been getting when installing. The second shows an error we have been getting when we had a „working" windows install translated the first image says: Windows cannot install required files. Make sure that all files required for the installation are available and start the installation again. Error code: 0×8007025D also we did use the installation assistant to make the boot drive Edit: managed to fix it by updating the bios and or creating the boot stick via Rufus and an windows iso. if you get random bluescreent when building a new pc that might be a reason for that

I have been trying to load windows (pro x64) on my computer, but I can't seem to get past the activation screen where I enter my product key. This seems to be very similar to the following, with the exception of where the install is getting stuck. This is a brand new build with a clean install. Below are the specs: ASUS TUF Gaming Z590 Plus (updated to latest BIOS) MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Core i9 10th Gen Comet Lake 10-Core GSkill Ripjaws V Series (4 x 16 BG) WD Black SN850 M.2 2280 1TB (connected on M2_3 per size) I HAVE loaded Debian on this no problem, so I know the hardware is working, but I can't, for the life of me, get past this activation screen. As soon as I either enter a product key or click "I don't have a product key", the install seems to freeze. I say seems to freeze because the mouse is still responsive, and the green progress bar does still flash white - so they system is not locked up. But they keyboard is no longer responsive and I can't exit. I have let this sit for about 30 minutes, and I am wondering if I should just let it sit longer as the above poster did. My only concern here is that nothing has actually installed yet... so I feel like it shouldn't lock up here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, if I choose the upgrade option on WIN 10 installer will it keep my settings and apps like mail and outlook accounts, emails, calendars. I do not have gmail and such so that's why I am asking. And in the calendar app I have pretty crucial informations that I have been writing for more than 4 years. Another question, where can I find my windows calendar and mail files ? Where does Windows store it? And if i can find it somewhere and save it, can I load calendar data into calendar or mail or outlook again? Thanks.

I got a couple problems, but first describing what happens when I connect to the wall, before even pressing power: CPU tries to spin, LEDs light up, lasts barely a second, stops, LEDs turn off, starts over the next second. Name of the new PSU: msi mpg a850gf My doubts: First, I switched the cable because it's a pattern I can't find anywhere here. I mean the part that goes on the wall. So I'm using the cable from my old PSU. Both say 10A, should be the same I think? Second, I'm not sure if I should be connecting a cable to this part of the PSU, (image) there is a cable for the Motherboard above, but the additional cable that would go below is intertwined with the big one (kinda like the GPU 6+2, doesn't feel like it's meant to be twisted to to down there, probably meant to be used side by side), so I didn't connect it. Should I? Just in case, I'll describe which cables I connected: CPU cable, 3 8 pin GPU cables. 2 (only using 1 atm) sata cable. Last, the huge motherboard cable. That's it. So far as I can see everything is connected properly.

Okay so, I now need a new SSD for my Mac Mini (A1347) 2014 We are going to purchase one but before doing so I just need a few guiding steps Heres what I am concerned about - Internet recovery mode, disk utility only has OS X Base system drive - Does this mean I would have to get a USB bootable stick and install the OS (Monterey) through internet recovery on install new OS, shutdown, then do the SSD Replacement, then boot off the stick? - I feel if I don't install the OS beforehand on this old one with a USB stick, then I don't know if I can enter Internet recovery mode/disk utility/ or anything at that matter on the new SSD - wouldn't it just be a blank SSD? Hence why I have once again come back to LTT, everyone here is amazing the forum and help is beyond Few things to add I will be doing the replacement of the SSD for the Mac Mini Before doing so I want to make sure I am doing it the proper way... Install OS Monterey on USB boot stick through internet recovery mode? - Will it be possible to move that OS from the USB to the new SSD later??? or Just go ahead with installing a new SSD? Thank you

Friends, This is the 1st time I am setting up a dedicated server at my home using RPi 4 (with Static IP). I am also installing Docker to host and manage few sites and WordPress installations. (mostly my previous works as demo which are no longer available in live sites) I have a little doubt regarding Docker and MySQL, how to setup? I do not want that every container uses its own MySQL instance which will take up too much memory and space of my RPi 4. I want to run single common MySQL instance. Option 1: Run MySQL as a dedicated Docker Container? But, I might need MySQL access from outside Docker, like some Linux scripts, some database mirroring etc. Option 2: Install and run MySQL as local (traditional Linux installation) Will it be easy to access this MySQL by the Docker Containers? Pls suggest.

I keep getting this same error wrong file size when trying to install windows 10 to a blank hard drive . I have a USB that I have used to get 3 different windows 10 versions using the media selection tool from Microsoft website. None of them have worked. I have it set to first boot device USB. The computer I'm using has another hard drive that I was sold with it containing a pirated windows 10 which I didn't want to use. Can someone help me get this working please. I want a clean version of windows 10 on my PC.

Hi folks! I just got a new Radeon RX 6700XT (lucky one). Turns out, when attempting to install 20.04 from scratch, the common install menu does not even load: after DVD install media check for errors, screen goes black. I've noticed that even the "media check for errors" screen is different than usual (had installed 20.04 previously on this PC with old GPU), like super basic text graphics. What might be the problem? Can it be that 20.04 installer does not have basic drivers for the 6700XT so it does not even display the install menu? Thanks a million!

After reinstalling the ssd it recognised but the problem is still there, so I decided to do a clean windows install. but got error code: 0x800701b1 on "Getting files ready for installation" stage. But when I tried again on the Seagate HDD it it worked perfectly. I formatted the SSD and cpoied some file to check if it was working or not, files copied successfully, then again tried to install Windows onto the SSD but got the same error code. Hello, Finally got to flashback my bios after the fourth try; but with success of course come along more problems: I managed to put the windows installation tool from my mac onto a flash drive and everything went fine in « installing windows » until it kept crashing and creating partitions. It then could not go any further once I got to the update part and found out it may have been due to it trying to install it on the flash drive. Without the flash drive however, all the other drives are undetected. So I moved everything over from my flash to my nvme since I got the error « we could not create a new partition » with the following video: Unplugging every other drive and then using the Uefi os boot on my nvme it gave me an error that I could not use that disk format ( think it had a problem with gpt), which also didnt run in legacy mode, I’m in a place where I’m just lost . I think it might help so I’ll include the disk list. I also cleaned the disks again and tried again to no avail; still crashes after « installing updates. » (Using bios version 2.60 on asrock x570 itx tb3 and latest windows iso.) Thanks in advance!

Everything in the PC lights up and looks to work, I've got the motherboard pannel connected to the HDMI with the USB (FAT32) with the windows install. I cannot get the BIOS menu up despite trying all the hotkeys when turning the thing on. I have turned on and off trying these different hotkeys and so far I've got no visual output. -Motherboard X570-PLUS -RTX 3060 -Ryzen 5 5600x Any help is wonderful!

Hi. I'll be brief: I've made a rather weak computer with some old parts (CPU, RAM & MOBO bought used, came from a old guy's PC and bought at a used store; they seem to work as they should, read more later) to make a archive computer. CPU: a10 7850k RAM: 2x2 1333Mhz DDR3 MOBO: ASUS A88XM-A HDD: 1TB WD BLUE PSU: SHARKOON SHP 500W Bronze+ (never cheap out on the PSU, lucky this one was on sale at €40! ) Case: Yes GPU: one that has never given any problem. The only thing I don't understand about the MOBO is that the PS2 port doesn't seem to work correctly (I wanted to install Wxp and W10 in dual boot, but be it the BIOS or the Wxp install disk the PS2 keyboard doesn't work, it flashes, nothing more, but the PS2 mouse works...) (PS2 M & K work perfectly fine, I sometimes use them with an old IBM computer with Wxp because yes) and I said it just and only to make a complete picture of the PC. So, this was the hardware, now the software: I tried two different USB sticks (8 and 32 gb) and two different computers to make the install tool, I tried an older version of the tool too, I checked that everything in W10 is up to date to make the tool work properly, I even used another HDD that I bought for my main PC. Nothing worked. The farther an install has ever got was the "installing files" after copying them. Let me explain: Most often all installs freeze before the "dot wheel" under the W10 logo can even make one revolution, then all the others may fail randomly in later times. Sometimes, when I have to chose a version, the thing says "corrupted files" or something, a message with a red bar above; sometimes I just have to re-select the option and it works. When the PC freezes it doesn't accept any input and sometimes, when the screen is black, it doesn't even let me shut down the machine by holding the power button. This was everything, I now patiently wait for any help.

I just installed win 11 on my second hand laptop via usb. After setup it asks "sign in using your school or work Id" and there's no workaround I found for this. It doesn't ask for my Microsoft I'd....it asks for some organization id the company that had this laptop before owns....how do I sign in using the local account?

I found an old PC which was designed to run on Windows 98 SE. It had XP on it and after poking around a bit I wanted to put 98 SE on it. I went to https://winworldpc.com/ and picked the OEM Full ISO then burned it to a CD. I booted from that CD and started the installer which wiped the drive and formatted the partition. It then told me to put the Windows 98 boot disk into drive A and restart the computer but there are a few issues with this. This PC has no floppy drive bay or even a drive A, and I have 0 way to even make a floppy if I even had access to one. Looking around online people keep saying you don't need the floppy to install 98 and can do it all from the CD but I can't figure out how, I need help.

This machine has been an absolute PITA. I have gotten Windows 7 to run.... twice. After the machine shuts down after a "successful" install, it will only boot in safe mode, as it won't even get past the "Starting Windows" animation without flashing the BSOD faster than I can take a picture. I have tried to install Windows 10, immediately failed in the exact same manner. I have tried to create the exact same Windows 7 installation as the one that it came with, but DELL's PoS (imagine that, DELL, Shit? whaaaat?) Recovery Tool won't even start a process in task manager on my other (also DELL) machine. I have tried different drives, different slots, different components (all individually tested to be working), but when I looked up the error code, 0x000000d, all I got was "Your PC is Messy". I have no idea what to do, everything I have tried has failed, even though all of the parts work. Specs: i7 980X (got lucky) 12GB of 1366Mhz DDR3 GTX 480 1.5GB (nVidia board, I forget what that is called) 1100w DELL servers part modular PSU (still works fine) DVD/BlueRay drives Weird wiring harness-like thing that allows for up to 6 3.5" drives BIOS version A11

Hi, When I come to install Linux I get get the option to do so on drives labled sda, sdb etc with no info as to what these drives actually are - I cannot find any data as to what sda etc means in turms of the physical disk. Since I am installing to an external ssd I guess I could just unplug all the other drives, but ugh that's hassle. As far as I can tell lsblk just gives the same info without any details as to the disk, like its serial number etc.. My windows discs are western digital so their serial numbers start wd, and the external ssd’s serial starts with st. Does anyone know of a shell command that displays the sda etc info along with the drives serial number? Not the uid - which I think is something that just Linux uses(?) Many thanks in hope.

Hello i have a intel 5960x with rog rampage v extreme edition that stopped working from a leaking aio. I decided to buy an amd 5600x with b550 motherboard to replace it. Because the architectures are so different in time and company make, I assume that windows needs to be reinstalled from scratch. However there is stuff on my internal drives that aren't c (d onwards) that i want to keep. Will i have to reformat these drives as well in order to use them, or can i keep them as they are and use the programs and media data already contained on them.
