Hello good people. I have discovered this weird thing and I hope that you guys can help me understand. Namely, I have two profiles in Ryzen Master, one for gaming and another one with low clock speeds for low voltage and lower temperature and I am switching between them depending on what I'm doing. Profile 1: 2825MHz @0,975V Profile 2: 4475MHz @ 1.25V One time I forgot to switch profiles when I was gaming, at that specific moment and place I had 85FPS, but when I switched to gaming profile the FPS dropped to 75! Does anyone have any idea how HEAVILY UNDERCLOCKED CPU actually boosted my FPS by 10? Anyone notice how the price for used steam controllers has been climbing, or how the prices for NIB/factory sealed ones are going for the hundreds typically? Do you imagine this is foreshadowing a possible return (not necessarily by Valve, but by someone who realizes the value of a controller that acts more like traditional mouse and keyboard and its appreciation by the market at large)? Maybe it's just the fact that it's discontinued, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I've just bought an Acer Nitro 7 with a 9750h and a 1660Ti and I'm really pleased with it. The thing is I ran userbenchmark and noticed that although the CPU scores remarkably well (96-99th percentile), it doesn't go over 800 points in the all core (64-core) test. I've already dusted it off and undervolted the cpu and it still constantly power throttles at max load. Other people were getting scores as high as 950-1000 pts on all core (on other laptops) and my question is can I do anything to improve the multicore capacity of my cpu? Does changing the thermal paste (temps are ok, the cpu isn't thermal throttling) lower power consumption and allow for better performance? (in TSBench, it only boosts to 3.7 all core, in games it goes to 3.95 tho) Can you actually increase the power limit somehow (neither throttlestop or XTU seemed to work, max power was still 56W) or would I need a custom unlocked bios? my 7300HQ is configured at 35w but intel's website says it has a tdp of 45w. I saw sliders for turbo boost power max and turbo boost short power max in XTU but they do absolutely nothing. My question is can I increase the tdp without sketchy bioses?(temps are fine) And would it give better performance? how do you even mod a bios anyway?

A research published by by frontiers media's their scientific journal "Frontiers in Psychology" concluded that games probably increase sexism towards females in young male adolescents. They claim they corrected this for other factors such as religion, television exposure and other factors. their conclusion: they pointed out some weaknesses on their own study, for example that it just could be that sexist people play more video games. They also point out that the data points are very spread, which is a possible indication of an uncontrolled and uncorrected influence on the test (aka their coefficient of determination was low for the statistics under us), for example right-wing authoritarianism. Another thing they note is that there is an under representation of some types of schools that generally have a demographic that is of a higher social class(which apparently have a lower sexism rate). Another thing is that they used the statistics from a single item on the ISDR-2 (International Self-Report Delinquency Study 2) which is weakness, and measures only a certain type of sexism (motherhood or domesticity). the strengths of this research are that they included calculations for a lot of different influences (a multivariate analysis for the statistics under us). they note that more research is needed to experiment with what the effect of video games are in respect to sexist behaviors. and that it would be another reason to push the gaming industry towards more gender equality, since there already is evidence of body dissatisfaction caused by video games in woman including eating disorders and self objectification. woman after all are 48% of the gaming scene, so this isn't something to take lightly if true. their sample size was 13520 French youth aged 11–19 years on schools in Grenoble and Lion. they had a participation rate of 95% (this is very high for research) and their sample demographic in terms of age, sex and school level corresponded with urban france. Well what where their raw results? what do those results mean? i honestly don't know, im not that good of a statistical analyst because i only got it in high school. (muh math has no real world value muhhhh (except for when you want to actually understand scientific research instead of blindly following media reports about how good chocolate cake in the morning is to slim your belly n shit)) why is this relevant to us as a community with a lot of gamers? because how else are we, mother's basement dwelling nerds, going to find a girlfriend if it wasn't trough gaming. but what do you guys think? is this like those researches claiming that video games make you violent? or is there some merit to it? i think there definitly is some merit to it, but i do not know to what degree. woman emancipation came quite late in gaming compared to for example job participation. also please keep it civil, i know y'all are passionate about gaming but that shouldn't stand in the way of reasonable civil debate. Hi everyone, i plan on buying at "New Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming" (This family of laptops) (The link is for the canadian website i'm canadian) I want to use it for a bit of everything. I have my dedicated gaming/everything else tower at home so no need of insane graphics. Just something to be able to play games at medium/high/ultra when i'm on the road or everywhere else. (I'm also using the train really often so i want to take advantage of that time to work on my projects or play.) For all the research i have done in the past months this laptop is the one i need. I waited for them to refresh it at CES with the 1050ti and they did. So now it's time for me to buy it! (If you have suggestions don't hesitate but after so much time searching into this one i must admit i'm pretty sold for it ) But i have one last question. Should i choose a 4K IPS screen. Or a 1080p TN screen. (no IPS 1080p choice available sadly) Also, I know 4k is taking more battery. But i'm asking myself. If i take a 4K Screen and i change windows settings to run it at 1080p will i see somewhat of an increase in battery life or we are talking of such a slim difference it's not worth it? So Question 1 : Should i take a 4K IPS panel or a 1080p TN panel? and Questons 2 : If i run a 4k screen a 1080p will i save battery? (Not in gaming but in general tasks) P.S. (I know i won't game at 4k with this computer. But for movies, video editing and general productivity 4k could also be a nice bonus because i don't plan on changing this computer for a really long time.) Hello, I have a bit of a problem. I have a video filmed on my phone way back. It was filmed on a phone that had 1.3MP camera. The video is a 176x144 resolution. I want to use this video as a present to my cousin to remember good old times, but if I try to re-watch it on my 1080p monitor or a projector it looks all messed up and barely anything is visible. If I watch on my phone it looks a tad bit better. Is there any way to increase the quality of my video so I could at least play it on a projector and people would be able to at least see whats going on or should I just quit trying at all? -
I got a samsung 860 EVO 500gb ssd just a couple of hours before and then I did a couple of userbenchmarks to see how fast it was. But then I noticed on crystaldiskinfo that everytime I did a benchmark, the total host writes increased by about 30GB. My other SSD (Corsair Le200 240GB) also got about 10GB written on it. Is this normal or something wrong with SSDs? Here is a video of it happening: Have had the SSD for 3h and it has already 152GB of data written on it even though I only have 10gb of stuff on it...

I built a shoe string budget gaming build for a friend who wanted to get in to PC gaming. The goal was to build a PC that could play BFV for as little money as possible. I would say the build was a success, however, i would like to increase FPS if possible in BFV. Would a GTX 1060 achieve better FPS over the GTX 1050 that is currently installed, given the capability (or lack there of) of the FX 8350 CPU? Currently with some system tweaking I'm getting 60-65 FPS on low/medium custom settings in maps with 64 players and 70-80 even up to 90 at times using the same settings on maps with 16 players. I found a good deal on a 1060, just wondering if its worth the investment. Here are the hardware specs: FX 8350 black edition (not over clocked) ASUS 5A78L-M mobo 12gb G. Hello everyone, I recently bought an 8GB RAM stick to replace a 4GB one. My laptop has now a total of 12GB of RAM (yes that's strange) : 4GB soldered and 8GB unsoldered. However this is a laptop equipped with a GTX 950m and its 2GB of dedicated V-RAM. I launched GPU-Z to see if the type of V-RAM is the same as the normal RAM and guess what ?! It is [I joined screenshots of GPU-Z concerning my GPU and of CPU-Z concerning my RAM]. So here's my question : My laptop has a grand total of 14GB (4+8+2) of RAM and V-RAM [in the same DDR3 (Hynix) format], can I increase the amount of dedicated V-RAM for my Nvidia GTX 950m from 2 to 3 or 4GB ? Hope I was clear.

How do I change the mouse settings of double click/click speed PAST the settings that are allowable (default) full-speed in the mouse settings? What I mean is, there's a slider that goes to the right for fastest, and left for slowest. How would I be able to increase the speed even more than what's allowable in those settings? (Windows 10)

Lenovo are to increase all their prices in the UK as of August 1st 2016 to combat the ever instable GBP to USD following the Brexit Vote. That now makes Lenovo the 4th company in the computing space to do this, following the lead of Dell, HP and more recently Asus. While they state they waited long enough - this move had now become an "inevitability" My thoughts? I can understand why they are doing this, but it still sucks. Especially since the UK add on VAT of about 20%. So not only will we have to deal with the conversion from USD to GBP, we would now, potentially have to pay an extra 30% on Lenovo goods. (I might be wrong on that, but that's how I potentially see what is going to happen) I really hope the instability in the GBP evens out sooner rather than later. Your thoughts? Please leave them down below!

So I installed VMware on my Windows 10 pc Specs: CPU - 5820k (6 core) GPU - 970 4GB (3.5GB NVIDIA is a munch of liars) Mobo - X99A SSD - 1Tb 850 evo RAM - 64GB I enabled "Acccelerated 3D Graphics" enabled and set Vram to 2GB. When I launch OS X I am still limited to 128MB of Vram. My end goal is to install FCPX and Garageband but am unable to because "Your computer's video card does not meet the minimum system requirements." -

As title says, I'm running a 4790K on a GA-Z97X-UD3H board. Current BIOS version at F6. According to their website, F7 improves Intel K-sku CPU performance. So I'd like to ask if anyone here have actually improved their CPU performance, whether temperature wise or processing wise, with a BIOS update. A more personal issue but, I'm refraining from doing this update as I got OSX and Windows both running stable right now and I'm afraid a BIOS update might screw things up. I don't mind it screwing things up if I actually do get an increase in performance, but if it's for no reason other than a number increase I may as well ignore it. All response are appreciated thank you! -

I'm thinking about making a build in a Hadron Air. Are there any things I can do to increase air flow or cool the case better? I know there isn't much room for installing many more things but would buying a Twin Frozr card be better than buying a normal card? And should I change the heat sink on the CPU (I will be using a 4770 with no overclocking (not K version))? Thanks, Blueprint

Alright so my friend upgraded from a AMD 6450 to an MSI gtx 650 This is the rest of his system: CPU: AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core 4400+ Brisbane at 2.3 Ghz(stock 2.2) RAM: 3 GB single channel ddr2 (385Mhz) MOBO: OEM_MB IVY8 (socket AM2) Graphics: 6450 before, 650 now HDD: one 400 gb partitioned OS: Windows 7 enterprise 32-bit Monitor: HDTV at 60hz (1080p capable, uses at 720p) I know it isn't great, he is saving for a new entire build to get him to current standards but he bought the 650 to hold him til then. Well, he installed the 650 and he began trying out games(as we all do with new graphics cards right?), and well.....it was disappointing. He was not getting anywhere near the performance he was expecting. To give you an idea on black ops 2 he can't even get above 30 fps. He saw very little improvement in bf3 and borderlands 2. Borderlands 2 went from 2-12 fps to average 15-20. He said for all games the playability increased but the fps, barely. He has downloaded Afterburner. All games were played at 720p. So i guess I'm asking for advice here: Is it a bottleneck situation?, What should his next step be?, any ideas here? I've tried a few things to no success and I figured this was the place to come for advice. Thanks in advance for the help. (I'm currently remotely connected to his pc and he is sleeping while i try to fix it but i can text him and have him test a game if we need to.)
