Hello, So, as the title says, I am looking for a pair of headphones that would offer the best immersive experience for single player games like: Red Dead Redemption 2, Witcher 3, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Dying Light, Skyrim etc. More precisely, I am looking for an open-back pair with a large soundstage and good / solid imaging. Gaming - music percentage: 70% - 30% The AMP/DAC combo that I own are Topping L30 + E30. The headphones that I owned so far and some thoughts on them: Sennheiser HD 660s - very good imaging, but the soundstage is disappointing Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO (250 ohms) - the imaging is good (i guess), soundstage is better than the 660s and very comfortable Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X - i listened so music with them, no gaming and had to sell them as my previous environment was noisy... what really blew me away was the soundstage, it was really wide; don't know much about imaging ... what i really hated about them was the weak clamp, "3D wing support", the really long non-detachable cable, bass was poor After some research, I found these 2 pairs that I think I would enjoy: Beyerdynamic DT1990 PRO - really love the design; I understood that the imaging is solid with a wide soundstage ... weak point: 512$ in my country AKG K721 PRO - I understood that the soundstage is very large, but the imaging could suffer; 272$ ... as a weak point: not really that reliable regarding the cable part Please let me know if you think I have other options or which from my 2 selected headphones would be better. My maximum budget would be 550$.

Hello, I would like some help / recommendations for open-back headphones that will be used primarily for gaming. My gaming focus is immersion with great soundstage. My games of choice are single players, like Red Dead Redemption 2, The Outer Worlds, Dying Light etc. Competitive gaming is on the second place (Warzone, CS:GO etc.). My budget is 250-280$. As an amp/dac combo, I have a Fiio E10K which run my current DT770 Pro (250 ohms) quit easily. Maybe I'll upgrade to an iFi Audio Zen Can of it's worth it. In the past I had ATH-AD700x, but had to sold them as I was in a loud environment, not the case anymore. I liked that pair, but I think it lacked some bass... But back then I didn't have the amp. After some researching I came to the discovered some potentiol "candidates": Beryerdynamic DT990 Pro Philips Fidelio X2 Audio-Technica AD900x Sennheiser HD560S Sennheiser HD600 Please let me know if you have other recommendations or if you could give a "+1" for any of the above heaphones.

Budget (including currency): 2K USD Country: Mexico Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Large CAD projects, image and animation rendering, CNC programing This is more of a challenge of building a 4 PC workstation that underload remains under 50°C, for the PCs we are using multiple GPU configuration, using Nvidia Quadro and for one system Nvidia Tesla Cards, this cards are not designed for the conventional water cooling systems so we were thinking about immersion cooling considering the Engineering Fluids EC-100 dielectric for our immersion tank, for the rack where the motherboards are gonna be we were considering aluminium frames like the ones used for 3d printers so we can easily modify it and for the rest of the system we need a pump and a way to cool the fluid down. After extensive research on the internet I was able to find almost nothing regarding the temperatures in immersion cooling systems with the EC-100 wich is primarily used for minning systems What we want to know is, are we going to get even close to the goal we want? We were thinking of using a car radiator to cool down the fluid, but is this overkill? is it enough? we also tought of having the tank inside a freezer (Thank you Linus for warning me about that) Is there a better way of cooling this GPUs? What other considerations should we keep in mind like where the heat is going to go, or tell me why this is the worst idea you´d ever heard.

Pixel Arrays- A Reason For 8K Gaming A Look at Pixel Array Output and downscaling from 8k to 4k Thesis With the advances in both Gaming hardware and LED pixel ribbon technology, is it possible to create a more immersive gaming environment by taking an 8k video signal and “punching in” to 4k for monitor delivery while using the surrounding video feed for a (non uniform) pixel array. Equipment and software Required Gaming PC (possible dual bootable) A Gaming PC capable of stably gaming at 8k. As we need to do some pretty hardcore video reprocessing a big CPU is going to be required. It might also be better to have a dual bootable system with a smaller graphics card for the “reprocessing” side of the system. Live Video Processing And Array Mapping Software (MadMapper) Mad mapper is the keystone to this system. Using it’s advanced input/ output mapping we can take the 8k signal and literally “punch in” to the center of the image (or whatever resolution the output display is. Using it’s pixel mapping functionality, we can take the same 8k signal and use it for pixel array output (over Artnet/ sACN). Using madmappers advanced Led Scanner we can super easily “scan in” most of the rooms LED positions. This allows for completely non-uniform deployment of the LEDs (in this case LED ribbon) in a room, so you can run them along desk edges, behind decor or shelves etc, and have a fairly accurate map. From Here on referred to as “MM” Games with scalable UI As we’ll need to punch the UI to 4k from 8k, it’s important to have a scalable UI LED ribbon + PSU A bunch of pixel based LED ribbon. RGBW looks cleaner but rgb will do the trick. I personally recommend SIRE-S DMX ribbon, as it’s hassle free DMX native ribbon (will talk to an artnet decoder directly) but any pixel logic ribbon will work. Will also need power for the ribbon. Artnet/ sACN decoder A decoder for madmapper to talk to the ribbon. Depending on the ribbon used will govern the decoder required, as well as the number of strips of ribbon Virtual Display (8K) and NDI We will need to create a virtual Display for the gaming machine to output it’s 8k signal from. We also want to create an NDI capture for input into MM Objective In simple terms we want to take an 8k output, use the center (4k) portion as output or our gaming monitor and use the surrounding section of the output for a bunch of pixel ribbon that is distrubed over the gaming room. Signal Flow Though, given the networking weirdness, it might be easier to run this whole thing on a single instance of windows 10. Testing is required unfortunately. Method Built PC with Hypervisor/ dual boot. The specs will need to be completely insane. (possibly during 1) deploy pixel ribbon. Work out ribbon runs, keeping track of pixel count Work out power distribution Work out decoder system (distrubed, central) Install software packages on the system. Run the LED scanner in madmapper. Make sure artnet/ sACN is configured correctly (2.x.x.x, etc) Test signal Run scanner correct/ add missing pixels rescale/ move Setup up virtual monitor system and NDI capture of virtual monitor. Configure NDI input in madmapper Use a “projector” output for the gaming monitor out (HDMI/ DP) Scale the pixel output around the monitor output IMMERSIVE GAMING!!! Final Notes While i know this *should work* i don’t know if you could actually game without input lag. From my testing at home (1080 signal) we’ve been able to basically game over wifi, so without that network lag (in a contained system ) it could be a perfectly playable experience. stay tuned to this tread as i may post links to videos and experiments as i try to do this on a much smaller resolution scale. hi , cant any monitor with high refresh rate support 3d ? isn't 3d just masking images using filters (3d glasses) at high fps ? I'm thinking to buy a new monitor. I don't really need ultra high refresh rates and response time for competitive games . I need sufficient refresh rates for greater detail and immersion. I'm currently looking at a 27'' monitor . but the question is , should I opt for a 4k 3d monitor or buy a decent 27'' monitor and set up a vr . ive never tried oculus or vive so I don't really know the VR experience. I'm only familiar with 3D . does VR support 3d along with 360 ? can I game in VR ( not VR ready games , any usual games, without motion sensing or 360.jus like a regular more immersive screen, if possible with 3D ). so VR or monitor ? can I run 3d content on high refresh monitor wearing 3d glasses ? can VR support 3D too (ie..depth (and/or) 360 view)? can I game on VR jus like a regular screen ? { If yes, should I opt for VR and basic monitor or 4k 3d monitor for greater immersion ? } 4k monitor or 3d VR ?

Fujitsu server liquid immersion cooling

Stumbled across this. Can this even be practical? I think Linus should build one! -
I got to thinking about sound design and its effect on immersion and 'feeling' what's in the game. I used to have a quality home theatre sound system that had a beefy 10 inch sub; and whenever I were to play a shooter, or any action game with explosions for that matter, the one thing that stood out the most or I felt the most was the punch of the bass in my chest or whole body. Or, for example, in battlefield when a helicopter were to fly over, feeling the rumble as if you were there to experience it. It always added an element of weight or meaning to what was happening on screen, if something was large and looming or threatening because of sounds it made, then it felt that way, you didn't have to be convinced by it looking that way. The point is, I have headphones that I use instead now, as the subwoofer has since blown multiple capacitors; and although they have an amazing bass response and clarity and frequency range, they do not pack the whole body punch that a separate sub does. How do I get this element of immersion back? Feeling the rumble in the chest or whole body, the concussive feeling of explosions or shots, or simple thunder rolling in the distance. I'd want to keep using my headphones, so not just go back to the home theatre system, but still get the effect. Is there any way to get the feeling while still using headphones? Maybe get a sub by itself and somehow duplicate the lower frequencies to play at the same time as my headphones? Or is there something other than a sub that can give you this experience? Any notes or comments or discussion is appreciated, thanks.

Here you go guys, I thought this was interesting concept... Youtube video of how it works Also, this got me thinking, we might be able to use this in a pumpless loop... bare with me: if all the blocks had their components on the side, and had the input at the bottom and output at the top, and we would run them in parallel, the liquid could arrive at the bottom of the block, then go upward to the radiator at the top, with a slight angle (the vapor pipe would come in at the highest point, and the lowest point would be where the condensed liquid would go out, and there would be a reservoir halfway in the middle of the going back down process I know I'm simple minded on this one since there's a lot of info missing here about the physics properties of this liquid but its more of a concept, an idea... The attached picture is what it would look like (using the red lines as pipes)

Hi all, I’m interested in building a VR set up for under $4000. I need to purchase a PC and am open to both laptop and desktop options. What configuration might maximize immersion/graphics quality? I’d like to use VR for gaming and general recreation. How does the Oculus Rift compare to the Vive Pro, immersion wise? VR and PCs fall outside my wheelhouse. I welcome all thoughts. Thank you.

OK LTT, have you done a build yet using ElectroCool from EngineeredFluids? Please can you consider doing one and filming it for YouTube? https://www.engineeredfluids.com/electrocool This is the future of computer cooling for a number of reasons (mainly being low to no dust and huge energy savings). DCs are starting to do this, but it needs to make it to personal/home systems too.

I recently won a beautiful ASUS PB258Q(2560x1440, IPS, 25") and have been using it next to my old ASUS VE247H(1920x1080, TN, 23.6") for quite some time. BUT ThaT's NOt ImmErSivE EnouGH. I was wondering how functional it would be to grab another VE247H for the other side, despite different sizes, resolutions, and color reproductions. I just love the look and feel of those triple monitor setups. Would it be worth to grab two other VE247H's and mount the PB258Q on top? Thanks in advance for any input

So guys, quick question. Is G-SYNC a *must* for your overall gaming experience? I say this because I am looking to purchase a new gaming monitor and I am leaning towards getting a ultra wide, curved 21:9 gaming monitor. I have NEVER used an ultra wide or curved monitor. BUT I have also never tried a resolution above 1080p, never tried G-SYNC and have never tried above 60hz. I want to play on resolutions higher than 1080p like 1440p or 3440x1440. For this reason, I don't think i will be getting any FPS higher than 60 with a single 980ti GPU. I will most likely be playing games like The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls 3 and other higher spec games. I know you can buy a G-SYNC ultra wide monitor, but the price is just too high imho. So overall, since I am no E-Sports player, I would like to ask you guys if you think I should buy a 21:9 gaming monitor that has high resolutions but is locked at 60hz and no G-SYNC, OR do you feel I would enjoy the games on a normal 16:9 gaming monitor, 1080/1440p that can get 144hz and has G-SYNC. Seeing as I have never tried either of these, I would love to hear your opinions on it. Another little note- I really do not want more than one monitor, I had two but I really prefer just the one ( I hated moving my neck and the black bar) .. so for this reason, the selected monitor would be the only one I use. (which is why I'm slightly leaning towards the 21:9 for the extra view on a single monitor) Thanks for any replies in advance, I will be reading through all/if any of them

A studio by the name of Sólfar secures $2.1M to recreate Everest in stunning detail and scale. Sólfar are teaming up with RVX, Nordic’s leading visual effects and animation house, to deliver the experience to VR headsets next year. I believe experiences like this is where VR really demonstrates its belonging. If done correctly, I could see immersive experiences like this being very successful. Video (not sure why it isn't embedding)

NCIX: http://bit.ly/1QKwyFJ Amazon: http://geni.us/1KnJ Is this gaming vest from Kor-FX the best way to feel like you're actually getting shot while gaming? Or is it a decent first effort, but a bit of a gimmick for now...

So after my newly (2 years ago) discovered love for cars and race gaming i have finaly decided to jump from using an xbox controller to the Logitech g27, it is arriving next week. However, how would you guys go about you're monitor setup for using a racing wheel? 3 x 1080- 22-24 inch monitors or 1 x 1440 - 27 inch monitor? I think i would personaly find the bezels of three monitors annoying, but im not sure 1 screen has a wide enough resolution (16:9). Another choice is a 21:9 but i feel like those screens aint worth the money at the moment, please disagree! Money is not the biggest of issues, but i would rather not spend too much if i dont have to! sweet spot - high end gaming! ANY opinion of advice would be extremely helpfull!

Hey guys Today i found a program called: Face rig link:http://store.steampowered.com/app/274920/ This program changes the person in front of a webcam into a animated character(human, animal) If you talk or move your character will talk and move with you. The project is still under developement so it's not completely ready but it is pretty far. FaceRig is awesome for streaming or suprising a friend on skype. But if you think further it could be used for Real Time game character movement and interacting. Because if you are playing a game with a friend and you can see your friends character moving his lips when he is talking it feels more immersive(at least i think so) What do you think about the program? Under this text is an example of the program... Ps: This is my first real post so it's not really professional

Hi guys, So I installed all of the "Towns and Villages Enhanced" series of mods for Skyrim. Including Outskirts and such. They were beautiful, but that much stuff made my game jittery. I assume it is the game trying to keep up with so many objects and failing, or wtv. It even did it in inns. Which... confuses me. PC Specs: R9 290X i5 3570k 32GB of RAM. ... So I doubt it's a hardware problem. Anyway, I uninstalled all the "Detailed/Outskirts" type of mods and everything is fine now. No more jitters. But at the same time, default Skyrim and it's cities are very empty. Now, to my question, does anyone know of a mod that adds more detail to Skyrim, but in a more conservative fashion? Like... "Towns and Villages Enhanced" adds TONS of stuff to everything. I don't need that much. But without it, it's empty. Is there a balanced mod out there? Something that adds stuff but does so with FPS/Memory/Game Engine in mind? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Vitalius

Hello all, I am looking forward to a game called star citzen and I'm sure you guys are to. I really want to be immersed in this game and want to know if one 4k monitor (like the new Asus one coming out) would be more immersive than a triple monitor setup. With that in mind I don't care about money so just opinions on the immersion factor plz. Thanks.
