Summary Apple is now discontinuing the Space Grey Versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad due to axing of the iMac Pro, earlier this year. On Apple's website is says under all items that these products will be around while stocks last. My thoughts Well, Apple doesn't want you to get a set of accessories that doesn't match a product. Time will tell when the new iMac will get stand alone accessories, but took the iMac Pro several months to have the accessories separate. Two entries of the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X have been spotted on the Geekbench database. One of these entries shows the AMD processor was running on an iMac Pro and it was clocked at 6.0GHz, which is quite the impressive figure. The Geekbench database entry identifies this system an as "Acidantheria Mac," which originates from a former Hackintosh outfit called OpenCore Computer. Source 1: https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/4190448 Source 2: https://hothardware.com/news/ryzen-9-5950x-hackintosh-score-geekbench Source 3: https://www.techpowerup.com/273426/amd-ryzen-9-5950x-16-core-zen-3-processor-overclocked-to-6-ghz-and-geekbenched Source 4: https://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/joao-silva/amd-ryzen-9-5950x-running-on-imac-pro-overclocked-to-6-0ghz-spotted-on-geekbench/ There seems to be a mixed bag of opinions on this entry. Whether it is legitimate, and simply an extreme overclocking result / entry with exotic cooling; or not legit and perhaps an error entirely. Either way, it is interesting stuff as it means at the very least there is a possibility of better overclocking results on Air/Water with Zen 3 and the upcoming 5000-series. Something important to note, is that apparently the current LN2 record for a 3900X is 5.65GHz, therefore surpassing that by 300-400MHz is still quite an impressive feat (even if on exotic cooling).

https://www.macrumors.com/2017/10/30/imac-pro-demo-fcpx-creative-summit/ Not my cup of tea as I prefer to have upgradability, but interesting nonetheless. Not cheap though, but it is using server grade hardware which is usually more expensive anyways. I personally just want those sexy space grey peripherals.

Source: https://9to5mac.com/2017/06/22/imac-pro-will-server-grade-processor-arm/ This would mean that the new iMac Pro would be using truly server grade platform rather than the new Core X series of chips from Intel. The report also adds that there may be an ARM co-processor as a Secure Enclave although Apple didn't mention anything about Touch ID during the keynote As for the credibility of this report, the same source did indeed report the specs of the refreshed iMacs back in April I guess Apple seems to be on a quest to put balls to the walls hardware in a pretty attractive AiO chassis. Also, I think it would be fantastic if Apple actually uses their AX chips to offload lighter tasks, saving alot of power and potentially operating even when the computer is turned off for like updates, but I guess this makes more sense in laptops than desktops

It couldn’t end any other way than this. Louis Rossmann is here to FINALLY attempt a repair of our iMac Pro – But will it actually work? Got an iMac of your own that needs fixing? Buy an iMac opening wheel from iFixit: http://geni.us/lQFu Buy iMac display adhesive strips from iFixit: http://geni.us/dA9uuc Check out Louis Rossmann's channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/rossmanngroup

Hello to all, I have a question, i am software developer and my wife is Graphic Designer. We would like to upgrade our computers and i came out with the crazy idea of buying an iMac Pro with 10 core Intel Xeon 32GB RAM AMD VEGA 64 and 2TB ssd. The main concept is for both of us to simultaneously work on the IMAC, i will use the extra screen as separate desktop with another set of keyboard and mouse, also when i need to use windows i can use parallels on second screen. Will that work? is the I MAC pro capable on working intensive workload in a scenario of BIG Databases (Average of 4GB) while working on Photoshop and illustrator with many layers and video editing (not rendering)? Will Linus be able to create this scenario? It will be more amazing if this setup could handle simultaneous gaming as well.

Can the iMac Pro with Vega 56 use the Dell up3218k as 2nd monitor?
-
This started out as a starus update lols to some people encouraging me to do it. The mechanics is simple, go to an Apple Store/authorized Apple retailer and play Linus’ video about Apple’s refusal to repair their botched iMac Pro and take a picture and upload it in this thread just like what I did awhile ago. And before any of you would say what are you trying to prove or are trying to change anything, I don’t. I’m not expecting anything to change in Apple’s policies. This is just for the lols. I was attempting to do it with the iMac 5k in display but it would be too obvious so I did it with an iPhone X and a MacBook Pro.

I would like to start off this response with regards to why I'm making this response. I am writing this response to both vent out some anger I got from watching the video and to also get through Tailosive's perceived bias for Apple. Whether or not he actually realizes this, no company is perfect. Apple is certainly no exception. Even with Steve Jobs, he had the questionable work ethics, controversy regarding his denial of his biological child, and plagiarizing the competition essentially. Not to put any of his great work down, but there are always going to be negative aspects of a company. Anyways, to address the beginning sketch, it's a complete strawman to those who support Right to Repair. He seems to have this point of view that all these supporters want is free devices, despite purposefully breaking said device. This doesn't not represent what the movement is about at all, and this mindset continues on with his response. And while, sure, the joke about LTT having to many ad reads was that, a joke, it was still a pointless endeavor that has nothing to do with his point, but rather his dislike for LinusTechTips. Now, onto his main points. Skipping over his admission to having a neutral taste for LinusTechTips, which does reveal his Apple bias further, and his long, unneeded tangent about the SFX used within the introduction of the video. While I can agree that Taran, or whoever edited the video, should have had spent a few minutes on motion tracking the SFX, the whole argument was not needed to support his thesis that Apple has the right to not distribute documentation nor replacement parts, thus being anti-Right to Repair by association, we can discuss his first point, being that Apple has the right to not repair an "out-of-warranty" device, and that the video's message is mixed. First, the FTC had declared warranty guidelines with regards to fixing and/or modding your device to be illegal(1). So, on a legal stance, Apple has to take into consideration all the devices that come in for repairs. And that's what they did with Linus's iMac Pro, sort of, as he explains within his video. Second, Linus's points throughout the video are very much consistent with his thesis of how companies need to provide documentation of how to repair the device, and replacement parts as well. Next, he argues that iMac Pros were never meant to be disassembled by the home user, as Apple's concept with the iMac line is to have a plug 'n play style for this series of products. This argument is not only ignorant of the current state of technology, but very much gives the perception of the home user being nothing but complete tech-illiterate individuals. As many people have addressed, including Louis Rossmann, Apple are making their devices much harder to repair through the means of soldering components to the logic board, making the components non-user replaceable. While I can see through Apple's perception of making devices more convenient to transport, would it be worth the cost of repairability being crippled along with creating a slippery slope of corporations having complete control over the user? While I do realize that Right to Repair is a more pro-larger government-centric bill, there needs to be some government intervention in places where it is a must, both for either the safety of the consumer (FDA) or maintaining fair competition. And regarding consumer perception, are you, Tailosive, trying to claim that someone doesn't have the cognitive ability to take out two screws, use little force to pull the screen away, detaching a few connectors like Lego, and do the reverse? While I can understand people may not have the time to understand complex electronic and computer theory, most of the US population knows basic home appliance repair and has interacted with Lego in the past. I'm pretty much tired now, so in short, go watch Louis's video on an anti-Right to Repair article here: I may finish this response, but we'll see... Looks like the news outlets are starting to talk about the iMac pro video. Maybe it will help get the word out about apples shoddy practices. https://appleinsider.com/articles/18/04/18/apple-refusing-to-fix-youtubers-imac-pro-claims-low-on-facts-light-on-details

I want to state, before I address anything else, that THIS video should have been the video Tailosive released, rather than his previous, awful attempt. I do think he has done a much better job at addressing his criticism, along with the other criticism thrown at Apple recently. And, as well, I would like to state that I do have some liking for Tailosive's channel. He does release some decent quality videos from time to time, and also is pretty good at covering some of the good that Apple has done. However, I do think he still is missing some key points that people have brought up. And the key points can be summed up into one word: precedent. He states that the reason Apple wasn't probably able to provide the parts is due to lack of interest with the iMac Pro. One, Apple is a trillion dollar company at this point, and while I can understand that they are still pro-profit, they could take the hit with having repair/replacement part options for the iMac Pro, no matter the size of the user-base. Even the iPhone X Apple plans on discontinuing this year still has repair/replacement part options, and Apple claims that the device has a pretty small user-base. Second, he also forgets to address that the FTC has declared any warranty policy that says " *insert company* cannot repair your device if it was opened/tampered with" to be essentially illegal. As I brought up this point previously, Tailosive has yet to address this point. And while he does a good job pointing out there were several more things that needed repair, besides the screen (that Linus has addressed in the recent WAN Show), it still doesn't matter. Apple should be able to provide the parts needed to give to him to repair on his own, or even to Third-party repair shops.

I was looking at the new iMac Pro base and saw that it only had 1 RX Vega 64. So I was thinking, could you use an eGPU box to run Crossfire on the cards?

So according to a series of tweets from BridgeOS there seems to be a A10 processor hidden within the iMac for ‘Hey Siri’ operation. But in all honesty, A10 is overkill for such a feature and BridgeOS says it can be used by Apple for better security and tighter control without nuking today's x86 apps. He also says it can run even when the computer is switched off making things like downloading updates a much more passive tasks It certainly a very interesting move and I believe ARM will start taking a role on computers very soon with even Microsoft seeminly very interested. I think this was the end goal for the MacBook 2015. Since its already been implemented on the iMac Pros, I'm pretty sure we’ll see this trickle down into all of next years Mac Products like their laptops where this would make a ton of sense for battery consumption Source: https://9to5mac.com/2017/11/18/imac-pro-a10-fusion-chip/

Source: 9to5 Mac So far the first impressions of the iMac Pro have been fairly positive. I don't know how Marques Brownlee got his hands first before anyone else the iMac Pro. It's expensive and I can now hear the PCMR crowd ranting saying stuff like "I can build a much better computer for less than two grand". It has Vega 56 with 8GB of HBM2 memory or Vega 64 with 16 GB HBM2 memory. I was hoping there would be Face ID on the iMac Pro but there isn't. But Apple is known for pricing premium to their products because they are being charged higher than the PC OEM for parts like NVMe SSDs, ECC RAM, 5K IPS LCD display and graphics cards but I wonder how will actual content creators like movie studios will adopt the iMac Pro or will they just wait for the Mac Pro refresh. Someone invested on the PCMR will likely ignore it and trash talk about it but for people invested in Apple's ecosystem crying for a Mac designed for actual professionals, this might be something they want or just wait for the promised modular Mac Pro. Back in the day like 2007, Mac Pros are user accesible. Update: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2017/12/imac-pro-the-most-powerful-mac-ever-available-today/ But why there’s no Face ID or Touch ID?
