Hello all! - (TLDR down below) I come here after a tone of my own personal research to try find the answer as well as confirm. Basically I have a much much older system. It was running beautifully fulfilling all my needs for all those years until a couple of sticks died. So basically I'm on only 4 gig's of ram (yeah I'm one of those 100 chrome tab peoples so life is hard atm aha). After it died, i checked my manual and went out to buy some new DDR3 ram, seeing there where plenty of options available I brazenly went with some Kingston (KVR16N11/4) sticks that matched all the compatibility requirements of my motherboard. Assuming ram would be the easiest part to replace I went ahead installed the sticks only to be greeted with no post. I went through all the troubleshooting options, updated my bios etc, still no post, long story short, I returned them (luckily). So now I'm out and about doing even further research to absolutely try and make sure the next set of sticks I get work. Before people flame me for getting a new system, I am currently in the process of saving money to get a sweet new pc . Unfortunately I don't have cash to splash. Boy would I love to be the winner of one of those ROG RIG episodes. All that ROG gear looks so sweet. I have a ASUS Rampage III Formula with a Intel core i7 950. Currently running 2x (KVR1333D3N9/2G) which have lasted since my pc's birth "knocks on wood". The ram that I'm really keen on buying are these, which also my local pc stores have in stock, but I don't know enough to be certain. And I want to make sure as they are difficult to return if at all. pcpartpicker and a couple other websites say they are compatible but I don't know how reliable those websites are. Buy G.Skill F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL 8GB (2x4GB) 1333MHz DDR3 | Memory | Scorptec Computers G.Skill 8GB (2x4GB), PC3-10666 (1333MHz) DDR3, Ripjaws X, 9-9-9-24-2N, 1.5V, Dual Channel Kit I've come across a lot of similar g skill sticks with slight variations in the model for example gbrl instead of gbxl. Upon research couldn't find much info on difference other then just a difference in the head spreader as well as the RL versions being better for older mobos like mine over the XL but I'm not 100% certain on the info I found, otherwise these sticks look very promising. I've also read g.skill is a really good brand. So I've come here hoping I can get some sound advice, perhaps there may be some peeps familiar with the board or memory. TL;DR Need a cheap and reliable PCI-E 1X Sata3 Controller and no need for raid... I'm looking for a decent PCI-E 1X Sata3 controller for an old rig that only has Sata2 onboard... I need something reliable but not too pricey and don't need raid.. It's for an old gaming rig I dug up for my 10y/o niece when she moved in with me. It has a C2Q Q9550, 8Gb DDR3 ram and a 4Gb GTX680 and runs most fairly recent games well (so long as they don't need SSE4.2). But the Sata2 controller seems to be a sticking point for games that stream a lot in from the HDD such as open world games like Fallout, Skyrim (non-SE) and GTA IV/EFLC. Frame rates are decent once and area is fully loaded but as you cross the map it stumbles quite a bit as things try loading in... Now I played Skyrim on this HDD and Video card before and it ran fine, And the CPU is better then I had back when that game was new so the only weak point I can see is the Sata2 interface. So I'm hoping an Sata3 interface and an SSD with help smooth it out

Hi I have HyperX Savage 1866MHz CL9 & Patriot Viper III 1866MHz CL9, then I messed around in the BIOS I realized it could be set to 2133MHz CL11! So my question is simple! Is this safe? I mean the web pages of the RAM creators says it should run at stock speeds so... =S Other Notes: I do have a 120mm fan blowing directly on the RAM!

Hi guys, I don't know if anybody has noticed but BO3 is probably going to go to Cairo's underground. In the 1st teaser we had a coordinate that led us to the 6 October bridge and the 3rd Reveal trailer shows a glimse of an underground that I think is in Cairo. Screenshot from the trailer: On the picture we can see a map that shows an island in a river just like the coordinate's location on Google maps: (the star is where the coordinates point at) also in the map we can notice tonns of Metro "entrances". Also the writing on the bench look similar to the text on the map. I was able to find a picture of a Metro station in Cairo called Mohamed Naguib: Similar right. The tiles, the colors and the red thing, not exact but remarkable. (other metro stations: Al shohadaa and Mubarak look similar to this as well) I noticed that one of the shown character is wearing a suit that has: "06" on it and on an other person' gear: "80" like they are numbered: 06Guy has robotic arms and legs. But 06 is worn by a woumen as well: My theori is that we are going to play as the guy06 since most footage is of him. Most robot soliders are wearing a logo of an "N" and a star mostly with blue background and accents: (N*) The music is from the Rolling stones: Paint it black which is an old song so it can hint us the large timespan in which the game is going to take place in. If you pay close attention you can see booster on soliders' body kind of like an Exo Suite: Also if you watch closely countless soliders loose 1-2 bodyparts: and as we have seen in trailers disability isn't a problem anymore. There are soliders with ear and eyes.... replacaments. In the 2nd trailer when we see people protesting we can see a red-white-? colore flag which is either hungarian or Egypt Hungary because there is no symble in the middle and also the trailers title: "Ember" in hungarian for "human" / "man" so it would make sense. Egypt because of the clothing of people and the seenary, because the coordinates lead us int Egypt. What else did you guy notice? What flag is the flag?

Hey guys, i took a look in the readmr section and found no help for my problem. the computer does not start up. I flip the PSU switch evything lights up but on the start button nothing happens. The problme i think is the ram i had this issues a while back always being resolved by some mystical way. Non of the hardware is faulty i shuted it down and tried to start up and nothing happens. Hi guys, I've downloaded Speedfan to control my fans (u dont say?) and i have already installed AISuite 3 (z87). Speedfan doesnt work, so, seen that i've plugged all the fans on the mobo, should i uninstall AI? Ive set the rear exausting case fan as cpu optional, is it right or i should plug in another slot? Hi guys! Recently I got a Nepton 140XL and want to use it on my Rampage III Extreme. The problem/confusion I'm faced with looks like this: Before I just had a CPU Fan, which I obviously plugged in to my one and only CPU Fan connector. Now with the Block and the Fan I have two! How am I supposed to set this up? Which of the both must I plug into the CPU_Fan connector? Does to Block+Pump always run on one level or is this one also regulated? Other than the CPU Fan Connector I have these connectors: CHA Fan, which can be controlled in the BIOS or OS, OPT Fan, which can only be controlled in the BIOS and PWR_Fan, which can also only be controlled in the BIOS. At the moment I've plugged in the Fans from the radiator to the CPU_Fan and the Pump/Block to a CHA_Fan, which I can control via FanXpert and that usually to "Silent". Up until now cooling seems ok, but I have no clue if what I'm doing is the recommended way. Any help would be highly appreciated!

I'm planning to SLI 2 GTX 980s w/ a Maximus VII Formula Sorry if this is a noob question but can someone explain to me as brief as possible my concerns, I'm confused about this PCIe and this will be my first build. On ASUS' site, they advertise the ROG Maximus VII Formula having 2 x PCIe 3.0 X 16 slots. I've seen a review from OC3D TV and that's when I saw this MoBo doesn't have 2 x PCIe 3.0 x 16 slots but instead, ( 1 x PCIe 3.0 x 16 ) and ( 1 x PCIe 3.0 x 8 ). Since I'll be doing SLI(1x16 + 1x8), how much loss will I have since it's not 2x16? Or am I even doing it right? I just want to see the maths about these PCIe.

Hi, I have a Harman/Kardon Soundstick III speaker spilt in two. There is a seam that runs along the speaker stick and now it's split in two, anyone else encountered this, any quickfix? I've had them for almost three years now, and they've just been standing still most of the time, ocassinal moved them to other rooms for partys.

hello everyone, I recently built a new pc and am running an msi 7950 twin frozr iii. I read somewhere else that you can flash a 7970 bios onto the card if it is a 7970 pcb. My card has a 6 pin and 8 pin connector so I'm assuming its a 7970 pcb, but is there any other way to make sure? Also if I can flash the bios, where do I download it and how do I do it? This is my first build I'm a bit of a noob. Any help would be awesome !

I have a B75 motherboard and it has only one SATA III 6GB/s port. If I want to use an SSD and a HDD which one would I plug into where for the best performance. I was thiinking SSD on SATA III and HDD of SATA II. But how much performance would I lose?

So today on the official UK page of Ducky on Facebook, they have posted that the Ducky Shine III Tenkeyless (DK9087TKL) will be arriving soon; they hope it will be by the end of next week and that the pre-orders are being now taken by Overclockers UK. I will hopefully be ordering the Cherry MX Brown with Blue LEDs today I will also do a review as soon as I get it with my initial impressions and many pictures of the product itself. This review will be about the Ducky Shine 3 Tenkeyless (DK9087) UK Layout Cherry MX Brown with Blue LEDs. I have pre-ordered this keyboard from Overclockers UK last week and it arrived at aprox. 2 PM today. I have chosen to go with the tenkeyless model mainly because I have never used the numberpad and I wanted a smaller keyboard. Right so It came in a standard cardboard box and with the 'air bags' to keep the main box intact. Unboxing [spoiler=Image of the box] (Click on the image to see it full sized) The box itself is pretty nice soft touch. I took the shot of the base of the box so that you can take a read of the features this keyboard has. Nothing much to talk about here apart from it does look quite high quality. One large one for the keyboard to sit in in a separate box inside of the main one and then the other accessories lay on the left compartment in plastic bags which is a little disappointing and you will see why I think so in the images. Also the keyboard itself is covered with a nice, quite solid transparent plastic cover which is very nice to use as a keyboard cover when you don't use it and don't want it to collect dust. It was the one with the Ducky logo and lines either side. The snake one installed on the keyboard is thankfully fine, either way I wanted to use the snake one. I'll try contacting the retailer and see if they could send me a replacement. One of my favorite features of this keyboard is the lighting and the fact that all of the setup takes place on the keyboard itself using key combinations. For all of you interested here is the manual. I will retake the picture of the second part of the manual tomorrow since I ran out of sunlight today Also the feature of having the basic 3 audio adjustment function keys is very handy (as you can see on the Del,End and PgDn keys) I will find myself using the quite often. My camera seriously doesn't do the justice to how sleek and high quality this keyboard is. The shell of the keyboard is very soft in touch and matte finished in sort of a extremely fine grain effect. However the the keys are sort of a smooth finish with a glossy touch to it yet still matte looking. The keyboard has a very solid weight to it and I assume you could knock someone out with it if you got a good swing. Also the keycaps are about 2mm thick around so the are quite good and to be fair I can't tell much difference between thick or thin keycaps. Overall a very solid and high quality keyboard which is to be expected from Ducky and for the money you pay (£108) Lastly as you can see in one of the images the switch is mounted on the backplate and every key is done the same with the exception of the RGB LEDs under the spacebar which are PCB mounted and there is a whole cut out in the backplate for the LEDs to shine through. The kickstands don't have any rubber on the to grip to the surface but it's not much of a deal since the grips and the front of the keyboard grip insanely well and once you sett your keyboard still it will not move an inch when you type. there are also three ways for you to route your cable which see a little pointless for me since they all lead out to the top and not to the sides which I think would make more sense but I'm sure some people would use the once that it has. I just use the standard center one. You can read about what they all do in the 2nd part of the manual. Backlight [spoiler=Photos of the backlight] (Click on the image to see it full sized) (Click on the image to see it full sized) So as you can see the letters look very sharp on the keycaps when lit up and the space does stand out especially when you disable the center blue LED so that only the RGB once are lit up. The keyboard is extremely bright so I only use the highest settings during the day since they don't blind me and at night I usually have it at the 2nd to lowest setting just so that the keys are nicely lit but aren't distinctive. All together there are 7 brightness modes and even at the darkest mode the letters are quite nicely lit and if someone wants to have as little distraction as possible then the lowest setting will do the job and will still light the keys more than enough for you too see the characters at night. The ability to have up to 9 preset colours for the RGB LEDs is very nice however it would be cool if you could program them each separately but it doesn't bother me too much. Sound Test For any of you that would want to hear how this keyboard sounds then here is a sound test. The microphone was placed approximately 10cm away from the keyboard. At first I click my mouse a few times so that you can adjust your volume so that the mouse click in this sound test are as close in volume to your mouse. Enjoy: SOUND TEST First Impressions Overall I've been using this keyboard for the past few hours and I have written all of this article on it as well as played some games and I must say, it is one of the best products I have bought ever since my Corsair M65. It is very high quality feels very sturdy and it is a pleasure to type and game on.I have found myself mostly adjusting over from my bulky full sized membrane keyboard and really starting to love the tenkeyless layout. The lighting on the keyboard is very vibrant and the keys are illuminated very nicely. The amount of different effects is kind of nice however I don't really see myself using many of them. I have my keyboard currently full lit and turned of the blue LED in the space bar so that I can have one of the RGB colours on it and make it stand out. As mentioned in the unboxing the keys and the 'shell' of the keyboard is very nice in touch and really feels high quality and definitely another league compared to my previous worn out £8 keyboard. I am very happy with the fact that I went with the Cherry MX Brown switches since they feel very nice and are lest noisy compared to the Blues that I have tried out on my friends Razer Blackwidow 2013. It was all a gamble and it looks like I've hit the jackpot The only disappointment was the spacebar being cracked but hopefully I will be able to get it replaced. I would rate this keyboard 10/10 so far since it is exactly what I have expected it to be. We'll see what I think of it after a month or so. I will write a impression after that time or so. My Photography Setup Most of you have probably figured out that it isn't anything too good since I could not capture all of the detail that I wanted to. So as you can see in the images below I have took 6 A3 pieces of paper and taped them together and then set them out on the table to use as a white screen. It mostly did it's job and in some places I had to edit out the random grayness or any other unwanted effect with either Photoshop or Paint.NET. For the shots I have used the Samsung ES75 which isn't too good of a camera but it was the best I had at the time. I would have used my dads Fujifilm S2000HD but I couldn't find it at the time Also the for night shots I have used my friends Sony Xperia Z1 since I couldn't get the Samsung to focus and get the detail I wanted. Feel free to have a go at me for the suckish pictures, but keep in mind I'm an amateur in every meaning of that word Also for the light source I have used the sunlight during day [spoiler=Photo of the Photography Setup] (Click on the image to see it full sized) The Replacement Space Arrived With a Little Something So today I have received my replacement spacebar that was cracked in the original box as well as a key ring! I have messaged the Ducky Keyboards UK Facebook page to ask about a replacement for the cracked spacebar and they have told me to email their RMA email with all of the required details (fault, address, keyboards serial number,etc) and 3 days later I have received them. At first I thought I will have to wait for them to respond yet they haven't and just sent me them free of charge. I will let all of the photos below to do the talking. As you can see the Ducky green keycap is very nice but with the backlight it looks a bit odd since it only lights up the top part of the keycap so I have decided to place it instead of the console key (the one on the left hand side of 1) and turn of the backlight for it. Also to take out the spacebar I have took off the Alt keys and put my index fingers under the either side of the space bar and slowly started to pull them up until I could feel that it has came off the stabilizers and then I could just pull it of from the switch. Hello everyone, I am having issues with using Asus AI Suite III with my Z97-A Motherboard. I installed the newest version of the BIOS and verified all my drivers but when I try installing AI Suite III, I get the windows error message that says the installer has stopped working. The installation then completes by installing the other components of the suite. Then when I click on the AI Suite Icon, it gives me an erro saying "Unknown Name". My Specs Are: Asus Z97-A Motherboard Intel Core i5-4670k CPU G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 Gb (2x8Gb) 1600 Mhz RAM MSI Gtx 760 2Gb GPU Has anyone else been experiencing similar issues? And how did you go about solving them? Thanks
